Shelter Review - Wynwood - Miami - The Infatuation

"Shelter is a big Wynwood restaurant that feels more like a mountain hunting lodge than anything related to Miami. However, if you’re cool with eating underneath large severed moose heads and antler chandeliers, this place can be enjoyable. The food is good (especially the empanadas). They also have tasty pizza and a bacon-wrapped octopus hotdog we really enjoyed. There are tables that work great for big groups as well as a lot of bar seating." - Ryan Pfeffer

The Best Things We Ate This Week - Miami - The Infatuation

"Octopus Hot Dog Shelter is yet another New York restaurant that flew south to Miami this year. The Argentinian spot landed in Wynwood, where it serves some very good empanadas, decent pizza, and various other dishes inside a dining room that looks like a hunting lodge collided with a coworking space. The food here wasn’t bad though, especially the bacon-wrapped octopus hot dog. The bacon was nice and crispy, there was some pickled slaw on top, and, while it was more of a snack than a $20 entree, we thoroughly enjoyed it." - Ryan Pfeffer, Carlos C Olaechea

Came to celebrate a birthday. Atmosphere was great food was delicious we went for the chef's specials of the night and the Milanesa. Servers were a little slow however the food runner was extremely nice i and helpful i think her name was Mary. At the end of the night we got to meet the chef Jaime and he was extatic that we tried all the specials that night. Drinks were 10 out of 10 and wine selection was varied. Always recommended it to friends when in wyndwood. Good price for quality and quantity!

Great place and atmosphere! The starters I believe to be the highlight of this please. The crispy artichoke is devine and empanadas are great. I never order Mac and Cheese anywhere but tried and no disappointment there. I the pizza was not the strongest but it was ok. Only think is would improve is the service to be a little faster but hey it’s a new place and they must be getting used to it. All in all, on my list of places to go back to.

Stunning hidden gem in Miami During my food tour in Miami, the organiser had arranged a wonderful dinner in Wynwood. Outside @sheltermiami looks like a warehouse and inside is a beautiful cabin. @sheltermiami 📍 10 NE 27th St, Miami, FL 33137, United States WHAT WE HAD 🥒Zucchini Carpaccio 🥚Burrata Salad 🫒Crispy Artichokes 🍆Roasted Eggplant 🐙Octopus and Shrimp Ceviche 🍕Burrata & Prociutto Pizza @sheltermiami used wood fired oven to prepare the pizza and I loved the charcoal flavour. The pizza was rich and flavourful. My Rockstar provided a perfect complement to the pizza. Love it😋😋😋 The decor is gorgeous with great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staffs. We did have a wonderful dining experience. 🥰🥰🥰 Zucchini Carpaccio came with pesto and Parmesan. It’s light and refreshing. Perfect for the hot weather in Miami. Burrata salad was my fav as I love the creamy texture. It’s so satisfying cutting the Burrata😍😍😍 Crispy Artichokes with lemon zest and Octopus & Shrimp Ceviche were very refreshing and perfect match with white wine. Roasted Eggplants came with creamy tahini sauce and sunflowers seeds. It’s rich and flavourful. Love them😋😋😋 Wynwood is best known as a hub of contemporary and street art. Many warehouses were converted to housing craft breweries and art galleries. @sheltermiami is one of the amazing restaurants in Wynwood. Must visit Wynwood again to explore more interesting restaurants next time.

Wonderful place, the food was amazing. The Branzino it's just "spectacular". The chocolate mousse was perfect, very difficult to find one good in Miami, well, Shelter has one of the best. The atmosphere it's very nice, perfect light and when the party comes, it's amazing. If you want to have a good date night,a friend's gathering, or a night out, Shelter will be a great option.

This place had a great ambiance, and the staff was so nice. I enjoyed the space a lot. But, I was so disappointed by the food. The Caesar salad did not have a great taste; the lettuce was sour. The burgers and fries looked really good as you can see by the pictures, but did not taste good. I really wanted to like the place, but the quality of the food just wasn’t there.

I added Shelter in my list of favorite places. Everything is perfect in this place! Unique interior and amazing food. For healthy dining try zucchini carpaccio and octopus ceviche. Shelter burger is one of the best in Miami! And French toast is the one that I want to come back for.

Great place to go with large groups. We always have trouble finding reservations for our +18 people office dinners as most restaurants demand a pre-fixed menu, contract, etc. be done for that amount of people. One very awesome exception is Shelter. They accomodate your large reservation without any issues, no hassle at all. Service is great, the decor is very different from any other place in Miami, but the greatest thing by far is the food. Not a huge menu but has a bit of everything: grilled meat or fish, burgers, pizza, etc. For appetizers the Cod croquettes, the crispy artichokes and the empanadas are an absolute MUST. For entree, I had the salmon. Must say this might be the best salmon I have ever tried. Perfectly cooked, light, citrusy.. amazing!!

Beautiful space with great people and DELICIOUS food! I love the original location in Brooklyn, and they have outdone themselves in Miami. Highly recommend the beef or humita empanadas, the mushroom or Brussels sprouts pizza, and burger. Nothing is ordinary, even the fries are incredible with a yummy citrusy aioli. I’m now a regular in both cities for sure.
