"There are 22 wineries along the Shenandoah Valley trail, with many quite spaced out—this is not like zipping up and down the Silverado Trail in Napa. So plan to hit three or four in a day so you can spend adequate time at each. Thanks to higher elevation, cooler temps, and limestone soil, the AVA (the oldest and largest wine region in the Commonwealth) is said to have some of the best growing conditions. Be on the lookout for Viognier, Cabernet Franc and Traminette. We're particularly partial to Muse Vineyards and its Cab Franc. The winery in Woodstock is a lovely place to settle into an Adirondack chair on the grass overlooking the vines for a relaxing afternoon." - Laura Ratliff, Kristen Schott

Green, lush, resplendent are words I’d use to describe this beautiful valley. Breathtaking drive in summer and there’s so much to take in - the river, the mountains, caverns, wineries….definitely a lot to explore over long drives in Virginia

So much beauty here in the Shenandoah Valley!! Every year we road trip from Nashville to NY and we always take a day or 2 here in the valley.. We’ve seen just about every kind of wildlife animal you can imagine, including a whole family of (pretty friendly) black bears.. The views are just spectacular from many of the overlooks and parks around the area. There are several options for hotels and lodges (as well as some slightly pricey but charming Airbnb’s), but we usually go with Skyland. If you’re passing through the valley and you’ve got the time, do yourself the favor of spending an afternoon taking in the beauty of this amazingly pristine piece of land!!

The Getaway House located in Shenandoah Valley VA was the perfect birthday solo trip for me. I spent 24hrs in silence and this place was perfect. The big window is their signature design and I'd recommend this for any one person, family & they're super pet-friendly.

I have traveled across the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway, from Harpers Ferry, WV in the north to Grandfather mountain, NC im the south. It has many good hiking trails. The picture posted below is from the top of Old Rag mountain in VA, which is over 3200 ft and the toughest hike in Shenandoah. The most picturesque National Park on the east coast. If you are here, Skyline Drive during sunset in VA is a sight to behold. And it's a real bonus if you visit the Valley in Fall.

Love it. It’s a great retreat for those in the northern Virginia area. And we love camping off of Skyline Drive.
