Pommes Frites in Greenwich Village Still Serves a Perfect Fry — and Other Cheap Eats | Eater NY

"Across the street from Super Taste, Sheng Wang — now called Hong Man — popularized the peel noodles that here are long and thin and called “knife-cut noodles.”" - Robert Sietsema

From what I read it is family owned and they just redid the dining room in an effort to revamp the old Shen’s Peking Chinese Restaurant to Shenese. The dining room looks great. Beautiful color choices, inviting, plenty of seating… Beyond that it was not an ideal dining experience. First off, prices are EXTREMELY high. Gone are the days of coming to eat Chinese food and getting combination meals at great prices. Expect to pay in the upper $20’s+ for a combo meal (combo includes CHOICE OF soup, roll, or rice instead of a little of each) $19-mid $20’s for al a carte. If the food was the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten, then the prices might be worth it. Not the case though :( Mom had Shrimp Chow Fun. I have never had Chinese food that was tasteless before, but this plate was. Very oily too. I had Sesame Tofu. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t mind blowing either. If you look at the plate you can see that the tofu and broccoli are drowning in sauce that was a little too thin and very sweet for my liking. The service was fine but the food just didn’t hit the mark for me so unfortunately ,I don’t think that I will be coming back here for a second meal

Incredible renovations!! This chinese restaurant went under construction and came back hard. Beautiful walls, decor, and menus. Sweet ladies who take care of you and joke with you like you're family. Food was delicious before, food is delicious now!!! 10 out of 10, highly recommend. Thanks for an easy and clean chinese dinner experience in the heart of Boca Raton. Appetizer: Pan fried dumplings, plate of 7-8 Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Vegetables, Pan Fried Noodles Young Chows Fried Rice - off the menu, our favorite!!!!

Google
Mixed experience. The food that we got tasted great. However, even though I selected egg roll for both combos, they were not included. Also, the portion size is pretty small for the money. Not sure because I selected the combos or that is the regular size. Dumplings were great, hot and sour soup excellent and finally the Szechuan beef is made correctly.

I ordered pickup and they said 30 minutes, it took 50 minutes. The chicken and shrimp were chewy and the dumplings were somehow soggy and cold even though the chicken was piping hot. The only reason for a 2 is that the flavors were pretty good. If the meat quality was good it would have been good.

Went here for the first time and wasn't impressed. Very disappointing. Food was OK, not great, service was not so great, people aren't friendly, plus I feel they aren't pleased to see people. It was pretty empty and they were turning people away, preferring to take out oders.orders. Definitely will not return and, Definitely don't recommend. Everything is al a carte.

We have been here before and it was just Ok but I read that there was a new owner and decided to try it again. vast improvement . Dave , the owner is from NY. I tried the Shrimp in spicy garlic sauce. Shrimp with mushrooms, red pepper, broccoli, and onions in a flavorful brown sauce with a little spiciness. Comes with a choice of soup : Egg Drop, Hot & Sour, Mixed, or Wonton, and choice of rice choices: Brown, Fried, or White, and Egg Roll . Very good. My wife opted for the Egg Foo Young with vegetables, basically a Chinese omelet, comes with a sauce. No sides.

We just ate there for the first time. Service was prompt and great. Food was fantastic. Won Ton soup and egg roll were great. The General Tao was also great as was the fried rice. Huge servings too. This will be my go to for Chinese food.

Google
Good food, nice bang for the buck The quality and quality of the meat in the beef and broccoli was very impressive, thumbs up for that. The sweet and sour chicken came perfectly and the ratio of batter to chicken wasn’t too bad. I

Yelp
Hungry for Chinese food and stopped en route doing errands. Brightly decorated and furnished. We were greeted and seated immediately. The lunch specials are a bit pricey but offered some of our standards, accompanied with soup and choice of egg rolls. My measurement of Chinese food is the Hot and Sour Soup, as taught by a Chinese colleague years ago. This Soup had most of the key ingredients but lacked the tartness and heat for my taste. My Spicy Chicken with garlic sauce was good having the right kick to wake up my taste buds again. Hot tea served in a pot for the table. Service was attentive and good.

Yelp
More like 3 1/2 stars. My meal was better than my husband's meal, but at $20 for the lunch combo, it was a bit more expensive than warranted. The shopping center location was easy to find. It still says Shen's Peking on the outside of the building. And there is ample free parking in the lot outside. Inside, it's newly remodeled and attractive. The combos included a choice of soup and an egg roll. I had the wonton soup and it was fine. My husband's hot and sour had a lot of ingredients, but needed more punch -- more hot, and more sour. The egg rolls had the right wrappers and were crispy, but the filling wasn't my favorite. For entrees, I got their roast pork and vegetables. It was good. Nice sized slices of pork and a mix of snow peas, bok choy, mushrooms, etc. My husband selected chicken in spicy garlic sauce. He said it was only slightly spicy. You could also choose white or fried rice -- we both got white rice. The meal came with hot tea and fortune cookies for dessert.

Yelp
We ordered take out for dinner and everything was delicious! We ordered a la carte and had Honey Garlic Chicken, Szechuan Beef and Pork Fried Rice. They also gave us a pint of white rice, fried noodles and fortune cookies. Enough food for 4 people. We will definitely be back!
