The Best Indian Food in Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro | Eater Portland

"Located within Farmhouse Carts on Southeast 35th Place, this Indian cart is becoming one of the pod’s highlights, with deeply layered flavors in well-known dishes like butter chicken and lamb vindaloo. Vegetable dishes are particularly nice here, including a saucy palak paneer with tender, satisfyingly springy cheese." - Rebecca Roland

Google
Food~It was absolutely amazing if I could give 10 stars I would! When I first pulled up I could smell the deliciousness of Shera's Food Cart!!! I ordered Butter Chicken, Veggie Samosas (it comes w/2 and white rice, and Garlic Naan (I ordered 2). I had been craving Indian Food and, I had been reading reviews for an hour last night . I wanted a sit down Indian restaurant but, I decided today I would rather enjoy it in the comfort of my home! When I tell that everything it was so flavorful and piping hot after a 25 minute drive home (yummmm)!!! Service~The owner and cook was super nice and very polite! You receive a beeper (that lights up and vibrates) after 15-20 mins your order is ready to go! I asked for mild when I pick up my order he said "ok extra spicy butter chicken" I looked but, it was totally mild! Ambiance~It's in a residential neighborhood so be prepared to hit a few blocks to find parking. But, luckily I came back up the street and, got right in the front of the food cart! It's a covered seating area if you do decide you want to enjoy your meal there. I waited in my car it's a very busy area but, the vibe it's just right (plenty of shops and, other restaurants). I would highly recommend you try Shera Indian Food Cart I cannot wait to go again I want to try everything on the menu!!!

Google
This food truck park is clean and comfortable. They have three trucks: Shera Indian food, Dima’s Gyros, and a Mexican food truck I forgot to snag a picture of. Had the butter chicken and Limca. Both were delicious. Felt like they made the dishes to order. You could smell the spices waft over to you as you waited. It came out piping hot and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Would recommend 100%.

Google
This place is literally the best Indian food we’ve had in Portland proper. This is our second time coming here. Their homemade curry is our favorite thing on the menu. We also got the samosa and gulab jamun which were both soooo good. The green chutney is nice and lemony and the gulab jamun soooo juicy! Ba would have eaten here. ⭐️

Google
Shera Indian Food is a fantastic find at the new Farmhouse Food Truck Pod off SE Division and 35th Place! I called ahead to ask about gluten-free options, and the owner was incredibly helpful, letting me know that the entire menu—aside from the naan and samosas—is gluten-free. Of the three food trucks in the pod, Shera definitely seemed the most gluten-free friendly. The amazing aromas coming from the truck drew us in, and we’re so glad they did! I ordered the Chicken Curry, and my husband got the Chicken Tikka Masala, both served with rice. We also treated ourselves to Mango Lassis, and my husband added garlic naan to his meal. Everything was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavors and perfectly cooked. The owner was warm and welcoming, clearly passionate about their food. When we told him how much we loved our meals, he kindly asked if we’d leave a review—and we’re more than happy to! We’ll definitely be back to try more of their dishes. Plus, their food is halal, which is great to know. If you’re in the area and craving flavorful, authentic Indian food, Shera is a must-visit!

Google
This is the best tikka in Portland. Hands down. My partner and I go here once a week (at least) to get our Chicken Tikka and Garlic Naan fix. The sauce is out of this world and I truly cannot get enough - the Owner of Shera is so kind and even gave us extra sauce!! Recommend for anyone who is craving Indian Food and make it a staple for Portland visitors as well.

Google
This food is FIRE 🔥 🔥🔥 10/10 highly recommend. The chicken was so tender and perfectly cooked. I had the Butter chicken with garlic naan and samosas. The sauce was the perfect consistency and the flavors were so well balanced and bright. Seriously delicious!

Google
i had a truly life-changing experience tonight at shera indian food. the service was incredible with exquisite attention to detail, they were even kind enough to do a custom spice level for me! (see image one below :)! ) i got carried away when i sat down due to how incredible my meal spelled when i grabbed the bag, i just could not contain myself, (see pictures 2, 3, and 5 for what was left! lol) the tin foil is what my piece of garlic naan called home before i got my hands on it. the only con of the night was i tragically dropped a piece of my naan on the ground (see pictures 4!) :( <\3 i will definitely return to this establishment. if you are debating IT IS TOTALLY WORTH YOUR MONEY GUYS

Google
Sheera provided delicious, fresh, fragrant food for a large group meal and provided the order in trays for easier serving. The owner was highly communicative via text to ensure the order was correct, from quantity, to serving trays, to spice level, and pick up time. Everything was ready on time and they helped load into my car. Everyone loved the food! Pictured is aloo gobi, veg tikka, pakak paneer (yum!!!), raita, chili sauce, and rice. This is my favorite Indian cuisine in Portland, for my own dining and now for catering, too! Thanks, friends!

Yelp
Been coming here almost weekly and sometimes 2x a week now for a few months. Super friendly owner, always remembers how we like our food. I've tried most things on the menu at this point, but our main rotation is Lamb Kadai, Daal Tadka, and Chicken Biryani. The meat in the curries is incredibly moist and tender. If you get the dishes more popular in the west, palak paneer, Tikka, butter chicken etc, it's going to be a different style than you're used to. I highly recommend trying to go out of your comfort zone. The chicken biryani, for me, is the absolute star of the show. It was never a dish I was a huge fan of in the past, despite knowing it's one of the most beloved dishes in the world. I finally understand. It's become my favorite food item in Portland, or anywhere for that matter. The sauce served with it is unique and incredible. The food cart pod is one of the nicer in town that I've seen, nice big covered tables and new facilities. In a sane world there would be a line around the block for this place to be slinging biryani the entire time they're open, it's just that good. This is a destination dish in my mind, like how you'd get Nongs Khao Man Gai or a Voodoo Donut when you visit PDX. Get it as spicy as you can. It's not super hot, just incredibly flavorful and aromatic the higher your spice level. For the curries, I can hear him pouring the tadka (tempering) on top and it sizzling and cracking right before it's packed up to serve. Perfect for takeout as everything is served SUPER hot and fresh, and keeps its temperature for quite some time.

Yelp
Don't let this food truck location fool you, it's amazing. All five stars deserved. Looking for a quick meal to take home or eat it hot there in the food park behind Cibo. There's a fire pit if you choose the latter. Get there early for Chai, once it's gone it's gone. Butter chicken is creamy and tasty. Could use a little more spice. Lamb curry was a tad overcooked but tasty AF. Naan was more focaccia in consistency/mouth feel, but still delightful. Over was friendly and patient even as we were probably one of his last customers. Not much to say on the atmosphere/ambiance as it was an outdoor food park, but if you stick around to enjoy your food there, you can cruise Division and its many culinary delights - savory and sweet.

Yelp
Sheba serves some of the best butter chicken I've ever had. The curry was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, while the chicken was perfectly cooked--juicy and tender in every bite. The dish was beautifully balanced, making it a standout among other Indian restaurants I've tried. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in a very very long time. Very authentic. The service was amazing, guy running it checked on my partner and I to make sure we were doing good. Ambiance is nice, a lot of seating. Not too crowded.

Yelp
Outstanding Indian food prepared by a very friendly gentleman. So good I can't believe it's coming out of a food cart!!!!! We had the chicken biryani recently, and it was fantastic, beautiful balance of heat and spice with plenty of juicy chicken. The naan was perfectly prepared.

Roshan B.

Yelp
This food was so delicious. The guy that cooks this is making really authentic indian food and it tastes really good. He was also pretty nice to me at the window and very welcoming. I first tried the Paneer Korma (Orangish-yellow dish) and liked it so much that I went back a few days later and got Palak Paneer (Green dish). The dishes were full of spices that made them very flavorful. The prices were fair too. When I went, the guy asked me for a spiciness level between 1-5 so be aware of how spicy you'll want to ask for. I am a spicy lover and enjoyed the spiciness options - I wanted something pretty spicy and got 3 the first time but probably should've asked for 4 or 5, so spiciness was on the conservative side in my opinion. Each of the main dishes gets served with rice. I also got the garlic naan each time which was sooo good. Best naan I've had - filled with herb and went very well to eat with the paneer korma / palak paneer on top. The paneer korma is curry-like in flavor - buttery and milky with paneer (an indian cheese - texture: tofu-like; taste: mild mozzarella-like) and cashews. First time trying paneer, I really liked it - he didn't skimp on adding a good amount of paneer and cashews. The palak paneer is very herb forward with paneer - don't let the look deceive you, it was packed with flavor and very yummy. I liked both the paneer korma and palak paneer about the same - maybe the paneer korma slightly more. Regardless, you probably can't go wrong getting anything here.

Yelp
My first time here was at Reverend Nat's Night Market. They were the only cart without anyone in line, but food took about 30 minutes so maybe people walked away after ordering. The wait was kinda painful, the one order at a time process during a street fair doesn't work. Another customer indicated that this is the best spot for Indian in Portland. I agree that it was good, but the bar for Indian food in Portland is low. Matar Paneer, my favorite Indian dish, was up to par. The Basmati rice nice and fluffy. Moreover, the togo dishes were still blistering hot when I got home. The guy in the window (owner?) was nice.

Yelp
Delicious. 10/10 would recommend. He made sure that the spicy was level was just right for us. Perfect food to share with friends.

Yelp
I really don't enjoy writing bad reviews BUT the level of service received upon ordering from this cart was very subpar. I am a pesceterian and wanted to order a shrimp dish. The owner for some reason was trying to talk me out of it, saying that it's rarely ordered. It was the exact same dish my daughter was ordering but hers was with chicken. I figured it's mostly already made, it's just a matter of cooking the different meats. He tried to talk me into ordering a curry which I simply wasn't in the mood for as I had just had curry a couple nights prior. He gave us our pager and we waited and waited and waited for 40 minutes. A family of four ordered about 15 minutes after us and they received their food several minutes before us. I went to the cart to ask about our order and he told me the shrimp takes longer to make and it wasn't ready. 40 minutes after ordering. I'm not sure in which world shrimp takes longer to cook than chicken. We were very confused as to why he was treating us this way, but it was extremely aggravating and considering I had just paid $52 for our order. I will admit the food was good but based on the service, unfortunately we will never go there again.

Yelp
Wow.....this place is better than Swagat. I have to say, Swagat has been my go-to Indian place for over 10 years. Not any more. The food at this food cart was fantastic. I ordered the lamb biryani, the chicken vindaloo, and the shrimp curry, along with 2 pieces of naan. It was just all fantastic.....full of flavor, tender meat, and great portions. This is the place for Indian.
google avatar

Ellie N.

Yelp
Food was delicious! The chicken tikka masala was more of a yellow base compared to a more traditional orange base, mild spice (can get spicier), and savory. The chicken vindaloo was rich, spicy, and flavorful. The Garlic naan was the perfect pairing. There are picnic tables in the food cart area to enjoy your food. definitely would recommend!
google avatar

Rouxster P.

Yelp
Solid addition to the cart pods behind Cibo. Generous portion of creamy lamb korma with cashews. You can choose your spice level. Medium spicy was just a kiss of heat. Lamb was very tender and the rice was perfect. Naan was fragrant with garlic. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
My first time trying Indian food and it was beyond all my expectations. Butter chicken and garlic nann were delicious fast friendly service. Seating is nice well lit and clean. 100% recommend this place.
google avatar

Aditi S.

Yelp
Authentic Indian Flavors. Recommend this place. Got the Aloo Matar and Dal tadka and was reminded of my mom's meals.
google avatar

Timothy J.

Yelp
Delicious. Definitely want to try all the food here! Fresh and perfectly seasoned. A little on the spicy side, but enjoyably so. And the guy running the cart was great. Also, the cart pod has heaters and one table with a gas fire in the middle, which would be nice if it's not too cold.
google avatar

Jozef S.

Yelp
My new go-to Indian spot. Ingredients are fresh, the owner is friendly and the location feels much nicer than most cart pods. My favorites are the palak paneer, chicken curry and lamb korma. The tamarind and mint chutney are excellent, too. Great addition to the division area!
google avatar

Isabella A.

Yelp
One of my favorite food spots in the whole city. Definitely the best Indian food I've ever had. Everything is delicious. Love the tikka masala, vindaloo, and curry the most. Very friendly service as well!

Akhil K.

Yelp
Fantastic Indian food with incredibly authentic flavors! My family concurred that this food was the best of our weekend trip to Portland. We loved the Palak paneer and the Dhal Tadka
google avatar

Willie S.

Yelp
Excellent Indian food, my new go to place!!! Chicken korma was delicious, lamb saag was on point and the shrimp biryani was crazy good. You gotta try this spot!
google avatar

Laurence M.

Yelp
Best butter chicken I've ever had, super friendly, and a super clean nice patio to eat with a fire pit, one of my favorites for sure, and the garlic naan is a must. 10/10
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
We tried 2 vegetarian dishes and the garlic naan. Blown away. Rich in flavor and fresh ingredients. I think the owner made the food and he was an extremely kind host. Lovely and my new favorite Indian spot!

Grace T.

Yelp
My husband and I LOVE coming to this Indian spot. It is so tasty and we always order the butter chicken and garlic naan and it is delicious. The butter chicken is so creamy and flavorful we have been ordering it almost every week. Definitely recommend!

Ceci R.

Yelp
Adore this place. Owner is incredibly lovely, and an amazing chef. Definitely some of the best Indian food (and honestly food in general) in Portland
google avatar

Yelp
Literally the best butter chicken I've ever had. Excellent food, great service, and nice little cart spot. So happy we found this place!

Vishvaas R.

Yelp
Came here again to try out a few more dishes, the chicken vindaloo and butter chicken, and once again found the food to be excellent. Speaking as a South Asian, finding authentic Indian food in Portland is quite the challenge; most places have heavily Americanized their menus to cater to Portland's demographics. If you want something authentic, however, come to Shera. The dishes are well spiced and have a distinct flavor to them that feels more authentic and real to me. Portions have been excellent, and each entree can probably last a person two meals. Fair pricing as well. Outdoor seating readily available right by this food cart and others in the same area, and the food comes with plates, utensils, napkins so you can eat them right away. The owner is friendly and welcoming. I will for sure be coming here again and would heartily encourage anyone to try this spot out!

Yelp
Wow! This little cart off of Division is the bomb! The young guy that runs the cart is great. He is full of exuberance and is obviously proud of his food as he should be. I ordered the Lamb Kadai and it was marvelous. It is not often that you find this dish offered in Portland and this one is the best I have had. I will definitely be going back to try many more of his offerings. You should try this if you love good Indian food with great service.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
The chicken kadai was absolutely delicious. Made to order, took about 10 minutes--and the wait was worth it: bright, complex and rich flavors!
google avatar

C F.

Yelp
The best Indian food in PDX. go and support this amazing cart. The owner/chef is super talented and creates amazing flavors in each dish. My recommendation is to get some wine across the street at Division wines while waiting for your food and by the time you're done with a glass your dinner will be ready. Enjoy.
google avatar

Janice H.

Yelp
We eat food taken out from Shera regularly. The flavors are subtle and delicious. And the service always with a smile. Glad that they are in business.
google avatar

Spicy P.

Yelp
What a find! Shera is the first food cart you'll find upon turning into the newish Farmhouse Carts pod, and yes - you will smell all of its deliciousness and make your way right back to it after perusing the other options. And we are so glad we did just that! The gentleman running the cart is first off - awesome. He is so pleasant, courteous, welcoming and helpful. He was working alone - one man show explaining the menu, taking the orders and cooking up all the goodness and he was wonderful. What attracted us to the food initially was the fact that they have a very authentic menu. Not made for the scene, no fusion concoctions, and some dishes one wouldn't normally see on a food cart menu. While it was a tough decision choosing from all the offerings - we opted to try the Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer with a side of Garlic Naan. And let me tell you : SO FREAKING GOOD! The food took about 25 minutes because again, this man is doing this all on his own - the right way, no large batch cooking but each dish cooked fresh to order. And the small wait was well worth it. Everything was served piping hot and fresh. We LOVED our meal and will definitely be back!

Gabe O.

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in a while. Not much else to say aside from filling in the minimum character count here
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
The food was Delicious, had butter chicken and garlic naan will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Nathalie L.

Yelp
Good food and great service. The chicken tikka masala was yummy and very creamy. And the owner (?) was very kind. He said that his stall closed at 8 when I called, but that he'd wait because he knew the wrong time showed on Google.
google avatar

Ryder J.

Yelp
My order consisted of Lamb Vindaloo (spicy), garlic naan, and a bottle of water. Vindaloo was enjoyably spiced, flavor and heat-wise, and really hit the spot. Garlic naan was a perfect pairing. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu. The server was friendly. The cart pod behind Cibo is really coming along nicely. Give it a go!

Neha R K.

Yelp
My husband and I had not planned to eat there but we so happened to check out the carts nearby, and we decided to try out this one blindly. It was a great decision as the food was delicious. For starters, the gentleman running the cart was friendly and provided great service to us. He recommended the best dishes. My husband had the chicken curry and I ate the Palak Paneer. The Nan/Chapatis provided were delicious and succulent as well. 5/5 would recommend this food cart. After moving here from the Bay area, we were pleasantly surprised to have something that was on par with the Bay area Indian food standard. Thank you, for making our day!

Madrone P.

Yelp
By far the best Indian food I've had! The flavors are so fresh, the spice is perfect. The atmosphere is so Portland, cool outdoor (covered and heated) seating! def recommend!!

Mel S.

Yelp
Bold flavors and quality, rather good portion sizes, and reasonable prices by Portland standards. Has clearly earned the 5-star rating.

Gabe V.

Yelp
Is it great and tasty? Sure? Is it worth 18-20 dollars for basically a cup of curry? Highly debatable. Reason for my rating is solely based off the small portions they serve with what is presumably inexpensive rice. Naan was extra...i'll stick to my usual spots
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Shera is easily becoming one of my favorite go-to destinations for Indian food. Everything I've tried is delicious, impeccably seasoned, and always comes out fresh and piping hot. I can't believe they can make so many different dishes at such a high standard in such a small space! The pod itself is always well-maintained with plenty of seating, and I appreciate that they're open until 9pm.

Grant G.

Yelp
Delicious. Food was fresh and flavorful I got the vegetable curry and vegetable biryani both were excellent

Amartya B.

Yelp
We have tried the food on two occasions and both times it was delicious! The butter chicken and the saag chicken are so tasty! Flavorful and made to your level of spice.
google avatar

Tingting L.

Yelp
Very flavorful, great for when you don't have appetite. Also good portion, enough food for me to pack lunch for next day.

Dawn M.

Yelp
Very happy to have this fantastic cart nearby! We ordered a paneer korma and aloo gobi and asked for mild spiciness level, and both dishes really were mild, yet so flavorful!! We also had garlic naan and even the plain naan had a nice buttery flavor. The chef in there was very friendly too! We really look forward to trying the other menu options and even a regular spiciness level, lol. You, too, should try this cart!!

Karthik M.

Yelp
The owner Vinay is a gem. Food is reasonably priced, consistently excellent and homestyle without excessive spice or color. Makes the best naans! Reopened in early Jan after a fire. Please support Vinay. I will be going here every week for the foreseeable future.

Evan I.

Yelp
Can I give 6 stars? Shera Indian Food cart at 2415 SE 35th Pl Portland is the jam. I have lived in NYC, London and Toronto all great Indian food towns. This cart is the real deal. You can tell just from the smell walking up. This cart is destined to be a destination, get it!!! I had butter chicken, Daal, Aloo Matar, and some garlic naan. Great service, super nice chef and great food! You got to try it.
google avatar

Aixé D.

Yelp
Some of the best Indian food I've had in Portland! The guy running the cart was super nice, the food was delicious, the atmosphere of the food cart pod is a lot of fun, I highly recommend.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
A welcome addition to the southeast cart scene. The food is delicious with friendly service. This will definitely become a regular in our takeout circuit.

Ryan G.

Yelp
It's my favorite Indian restaurant in Portland right now. The wraps/rolls are hefty and delicious (enough for two meals), and I have really loved the flavors in all the other dishes I've gotten there. Even the mango lassi has something unique to it. Exceptional. Especially coming from a food cart. Don't expect fast-food speed, though. Restaurant quality food, restaurant wait time. The food cart pod itself sets a really pleasant ambiance. I'm writing this review with my work laptop. This area is ideal for working away from home. There are sun and shade options, and drinks appropriate for the whole day.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Great food and a wide variety! Very friendly service as well~ Thank you for the dinner :)
