Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort | Best places to stay in Port Douglas

"Once known as a haunt for the rich and famous – celebrity guests have included Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger and Leonardo DiCaprio – the Mirage has been reborn as an elegant tropical hideaway. Since joining the Sheraton group, the famous resort, which is surrounded by 147 hectares of tropical gardens and a massive lagoon pool, has been transformed. Today, the Mirage offers some of the classiest (and brightest) rooms, suites and villas in far north Queensland. The culinary experience has also been upgraded. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining at Feast Restaurant, gourmet excellence at Harrisons by Spencer Patrick or a poolside snack at the Lagoon House. " - Mark Chipperfield

This is a very nice place, with great pool, an outstanding, beautiful new gym - with complimentary water bottles, cold refill water, towels, cooled towels, and fantastic range of machines, weights, and other equipment - and a few steps away from the beach, and a lovely marina with good restaurants and fish and chips shop. Surfers Paradise is not too far - we hired bikes and enjoyed a beautiful bike ride. Customer service is exceptional all around - from porters, through any other staff to managers: we also had an issue with the room, and it was resolved promptly with a few compliments for our troubles. Rooms are nice, clean, spacious with lovely touches, but slightly less modern than maybe some other 5 star hotels and resorts we have been to. Pool is great - warm and large with free refreshing cold and mineral water; there are also great cocktails, food and service. Very family friendly. Buffet is a must - it is exceptional. Overall- highly recommended.

Arriving here at Grand Mirage, was like walking into very comfortable lounge with tree lined seascape. Amazing view. |Everything about this hotel was relaxing & chilled. Styled as the same as the Port Douglas Grand Mirage. From check in to departure, I have not one criticism. |The staff can’t do enough to satisfy your needs. The service level at breakfast/dinner/cocktail lounge/pool bar was superb. |Our suite was very comfortable with everything you might need, with an amazing sea view (2088). |Definitely would recommend staying here if you’re on the Gold Coast.

Great stay at the Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast. I was here for a conference at Sea World and really enjoyed the overall experience. The room was a little tired and could use some updates, but the service throughout my stay was excellent. The buffet breakfast had plenty of selection and the coffee was great. Service on the second morning did fall short, but they were very busy and the Duty Manager reached out to apologise, which I genuinely appreciated, credit to them for addressing it promptly. As a Silver Elite Marriott member, I would still recommend this property to other Marriott members. The pool area looked amazing and added to the whole resort experience. I would happily stay here again.

Check In was easy. Room very unclean and very very out dated. Very disappointed from first sight inspection of the room especially after paying $800+ per night. Locks on doors not functioning correctly and unlikely to prevent a break in. Dirty carpets and floors. Old guest rubbish still underneath the beds and in draws and couch filthy, dated bathrooms and filthy vents throughout the room, Mini fridge barely holds a cold temperature and your forced to drink bottled water as you cant drink the water. Unusual bright flashing red and green lights in roof ventilation at night resulting in a disturbed sleep. Pillows are rubbish ( soft and used )and Hotel do not provide any alternative. Breakfast buffet is decent but forget dinner. Unorganised restaurant management and understaffed. $90+ per person for a very suspicious buffet with much let stand seafood and overcooked roasts. Great that the beach is only a stone throw away with life guard's close by. Amenities are fine, gym and swim up bar, valet parking where acceptable. Just a unacceptable amount of uncleanliness for a 5 star hotel. Other customers must not mind dirty rooms and bad service as there 5 star reviews are laughable.. Disappointing.

What a great hotel. It's got a great entrance as you walk through and see the huge glass windows looking over the Tasman Sea. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Lots of cupboards and drawers which I love and also a big bathroom which a huge spa bath / shower. The pool area is right by the ocean so you can dip in the pool or the sea. We love the walkway along the beach too! You can walk down and grab a coffee on your morning walk. A really great spot and we'll be back!

We had the best experience during our stay, from the friendly staff to the fast check-in service. We were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary, and they made it extra special with champagne and strawberries upon our arrival. It was such a lovely surprise, it almost made me cry 🫣. The place is gorgeous 😍, and the pool has the perfect temperature with the bar right there. The breakfast has everything 😋, delicious and fresh. On our second night, we didn't want to go out, so we asked for room service, and oh my goodness, it was delicious; everything was perfect. You truly made our weekend away special. I highly recommend it

Sheraton Grand Mirage was such a lovely stay. The room was cute a little outdated, but still really charming and the view was amazing. The location is perfect, super close to the beach. They even upgraded our room, which was such a nice touch. And when I walked in, there was a little birthday surprise waiting for me. Really made my day. Overall, an amazing stay and I’d definitely come back!

It’s a 4 star hotel, possibly it was 5 star long time ago, currently lots of area is under construction 🦺 🚧 so the garden and backyard is not looking pretty, and there was no warning about it during the booking process (not transparent practice sets disappointments for guests). Property itself is older looking inside the rooms too. Blanket had a few old looking stains. Isolation is old and not reliable as you can hear noises from bikes 🏍️ and cars passing by on the main road + the mattress was a soft type = my sleep was poor. Phone in the room doesn’t work to call 📞 (must be their strategic decision but not 5 star). Breakfast was ok, not much for vegetarians or vegans 🌱 though, but no barrister coffee and no alternative milk or signs 🪧 about dairy free yogurts etc, reminds you being at 4 star hotel again. Machine coffee was not tasty at all. Staff are kind and friendly but you feel they’re under pressure as there is not enough of them, when you’re waiting 15min in a queue for breakfast (while you can see many tables are empty). It’s possibly a good option for families with kids as they seemed to have fun at the pool. For couples, it’s a strange option, as it’s not romantic, costs like 5 star but in reality feels like a budget option. Good things: * Location is great, right on the beach 🏖️ and is the main benefit. Otherwise, value for money is low. * They gave us a free glass of champagne on arrival. * In-room dining was late by 1hr but it was on them too.

Yelp
My favourite hotel in Australia. Great on-site dining, friendly and helpful staff, large rooms, the only actual beachfront hotel on the Gold Coast - so much to like here. My go-to family holiday destination.
