Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort | Best places to stay in Port Douglas

"Once known as a haunt for the rich and famous – celebrity guests have included Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger and Leonardo DiCaprio – the Mirage has been reborn as an elegant tropical hideaway. Since joining the Sheraton group, the famous resort, which is surrounded by 147 hectares of tropical gardens and a massive lagoon pool, has been transformed. Today, the Mirage offers some of the classiest (and brightest) rooms, suites and villas in far north Queensland. The culinary experience has also been upgraded. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining at Feast Restaurant, gourmet excellence at Harrisons by Spencer Patrick or a poolside snack at the Lagoon House. " - Mark Chipperfield

Brilliant service and facilities. The hotel is really stunning, and the restaurant, bar and pool are really lovely. So nice to be on the beachfront as well. The bar has amazing cocktails, delicious food and really good service. The breakfast is fantastic, such a good range of different foods. The staff are so friendly! We had some issues with the cleaning staff not servicing our room the first night we were there, but this was resolved with the staff at the front desk. We really enjoyed our stay otherwise and will be happy to stay again!

Attended for a conference and this hotel is seriously impressive. Service was excellent - very friendly staff who all seem willing to help. The rooms are starting to look a little tired (marks on walls and bumps etc on cupboards) but overall it is a nice hotel. Food is good, especially the buffet breakfast. Layout makes it feel private but still with nice views or outlook from each room. If you want a great pool and beach access - this is the place to stay.

We recently held our conference at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, and once again, the entire experience was flawless from check-in through to departure. Justine, Samantha, Peter and the whole team went above and beyond to make our stay truly unforgettable. The service and conference facilities are outstanding, the rooms are stunning, and the pool and bar are the perfect places to relax. Being right on the beach is an added bonus that makes the setting even more special. Nothing was ever too big or too small for the team – help was always just a call away. Highly recommend the Sheraton Grand Mirage for both conferences and leisure stays.

Had a little kid screaming and crying non-stop for a few hours right next door. Made an enquiry to the guest services they were happy to find another room for us. Unfortunately it wasn't as spacious and as well equipped as the room we originally booked but at least we could rest peacefully. Rooms are clean and the resort is very family friendly. You have a beautiful beach just over the fence. The kids really loved the swimming pool.

Lovely hotel, had a ground floor garden room which was spacious and well equipped, so lovely that it is not another high rise which I hate.|Excellent restaurant, buffet and menu with service for dinner. Excellent breakfast plenty of fruit and even a juicer, muesli, pastries, etc., in addition to the cooked breakfast which we didn't try.|Nice grounds, and cafe by pool area, which got a bit noisy on a weekend which you expect with children having fun but we had five adults sat in front of us each glued to their phones playing loud music - we moved! |There is a path along the cliff by the beach for a pleasant walk, beach is difficult to access at moment as there are no steps or paths nearby. Children were just sliding down.||Can't fault the hotel, we will be back.

The beautiful view of the pool and ocean through the restaurant’s large glass windows was truly impressive. The room and bathroom were spacious, and the bed was comfortable. However, the hairdryer was too weak, and there was no body lotion provided. The staff didn’t feel particularly friendly, but they were always helpful and accommodating to our needs. The parking was convenient with camera-based access, and there was always a spot available near the elevator. The pool was large and heated, and with the ocean right in front, the location was very accessible. For some reason, both check-in and check-out were not smooth and took quite a bit of time. The breakfast quality was not great, but the view was amazing, and it wasn’t crowded, which we really liked.

The layout of the resort is really beautiful, the property is however starting to really show its age. Broken concrete, rusty screws, damages around the pool, the whole exterior needs a paint. The room itself was quite lovely, however, fell short on cleanliness - dusty around the bedside table, bed, mirrors. Chipped tiling in bathroom Rust around curtains Beds were hard and uncomfortable, pillows to thin. The shower gel for the last 2 days of our stay was not refilled and dirty glasses left on the bar not cleaned during house keeping The biggest inconvenience was the event that was on during our stay when the pool bar and area were not available - the event had their own catering so it was extremely disappointing that we had to walk from the pool area up to the inside bar to get drinks. We've stayed around the world at some of the best hotels and this one doesn't deserve 5*

The hotel really isn’t worth the price. The place feels old and outdated, and our shower didn’t even have proper hot water. Service was just okay. The room services and cleaning were also not great. When we checked in and got to our room, we realized the body wash bottle was empty, and we had to ask for some. I think things like this should be checked before giving the rooms to guests. At checkout, they even tried to charge us for chocolates and chips we had bought ourselves, saying they were from the minibar, but we had to get that fixed. Overall, the hotel, service, and breakfast are pretty average, especially for what they charge. You can definitely find better places for the same or lower price.

Yelp
My favourite hotel in Australia. Great on-site dining, friendly and helpful staff, large rooms, the only actual beachfront hotel on the Gold Coast - so much to like here. My go-to family holiday destination.
