"Set the scene for us.Though the hotel's been around since 1982, the lobby is sleek and modern and feels distinctively new—because it is. In 2018, the hotel underwent an extensive renovation that was part of a complete overhaul of the Sheraton brand. It definitely feels like a big hotel—and it is, with a whopping 1,236 rooms—but the cozy accent furniture, smiling staff, and a Starbucks right off the lobby make feel warm and inviting. What’s the story behind the hotel?Seattle was one of the first six Sheraton properties in the world to be entirely renovated to reflect the brand's new, modern vision. What can we expect from our room? The Junior Suite was spacious—around 600 square feet—with a generous living area that offered jaw-dropping views over the city. But, though each one of the hotel's rooms were recently remodeled, the brown carpeting and boxy, uninspired furniture made the room feel weirdly retro. On the upside: the beds were super plush, the down pillows extra fluffy, and there was lots of cool original art by the renowned Seattle-based artist, Dale Chihuly. How about the food and drink? You're here for Loulay, the hotel's very cute, hip French-inspired bistro. Open for lunch and dinner, you can expect decadent, flavor-packed dishes like duck confit cassoulet and a slow-cooked seafood stew brimming with clams, mussels, codfish, and potatoes. The seared foie gras, served with roasted apple puree and topped with crispy chicken skin, is delightful. It's not L'Oursin, but it's definitely a step above your standard hotel restaurant. Anything to say about the service?Incredibly warm, attentive and knowledgeable, with great suggestions for fun, off-the-beaten-path things to do in the city and surrounds. They all seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Who comes here? It's hard to pin down a prototypical guest, given that Seattle is part business destination, part tourist destination—not to mention that the Sheraton itself is still in the process of sorting out its own evolving identity. The guests reflect this: there are business travelers, vacationing families, young digital nomads, and hipstery bespectacled types. It's not a bad thing, but if you are looking for a specific vibe—say, edgy and design-forward, or ultraluxe and decadent—this spot might be a bit too generic for you. What’s the neighborhood scene? It's in an unbeatably central location, steps from Pike Place Market, the Seattle waterfront, and endless restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. And anything we missed? If you want to elevate your stay, it's worth springing for a club room for just $40 more. The club lounge is chic and relaxing, offers excellent breakfast and coffee, and does a nice little spread of hors d'oeuvres in the evenings. It's a nice place to wind down. Is it worth it—and why?Big rooms, beautiful views, and an unbeatable location, at the right price. Even before the renovation, this was one of the most solid stays in Seattle—and it's only gotten better." - Kris Fordham
