Where To Dine and Drink Outside This Season in Denver | Eater Denver

"At this cozy eatery on the west end of Pearl Street Mall, in Boulder, diners can grab a table on the manicured patio and eat with an unparalleled, close-up view of the Flatirons. This restaurant offers fresh and healthy takes on food from the Himalaya region — Nepal, Tibet, and India — and a bar menu with local beers, wine, and a small variety of spirits. If owner Pemba Sherpa is around, be sure to ask about his story — one of his over-40 treks through the Himalayas or trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro." - Nisa Sedaghat

Really nice decor. Service was superb. Many vegan options available. Food was great. The bathroom was very clean and well decorated. I’m always concerned when I visit a place and the bathroom isn’t clean. It makes you wonder if the kitchen is clean. No wonders here as the bathroom was spotless!

This is one of the best Nepali restaurants I’ve ever visited! The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and healthy — you can really taste the care they put into every dish. The restaurant itself is very clean and well maintained, which makes dining here even more pleasant. What makes this place truly special is the kind and caring owner. She is such a warm and respectful lady who treated my parents with so much love and kindness — it really touched our hearts. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers like family. Highly recommend this place if you want tasty, healthy Nepali food served with true hospitality. We will definitely be coming back!

Google
This was such an excellent meal and all around experience!! 😍 we had the pan seared chicken dumplings that had excellent flavor, the lentil soup was super light and tasty. I got the korma with lamb and the flavor was rich and had depth, highly recommend it. My friend had the Sherpa combo that had tikka masala chicken, curry, and the rice pudding and it was all fantastic! My favorite was the saag, super flavorful without being overly spicy and it mixed well with everything. The mango lashi is an absolute must try as well. 10 stars highly recommend this restaurant!

Google
We absolutely loved it here! Food was amazing and so was the service. Our waitress was so sweet and welcomed us to the area as well, since we were visiting. We got the Tibetan noodles and LOVED them. Can't wait to go back!

Google
I was visiting on a spontaneous visit from KC to visit the mountains. Drove by this place and decided to stop on my way back to my stay. I am so glad I did! The server with the glasses was oh so adorably cute! She was so nice and sweet and helpful. The food was spot on, the sherpa rolls with the termarind sauce had a great depth of flavour and the green sauce was refreshing. My spicy curry was a delight! Plenty of flavor with tender beef. The potatoes were cooked thru and softer to my liking. A good spice but not too much. Allowed me to enjoy the flavors of the curry. I wish I was staying longer, the noodles sounded so good. Next time I'm back in Colorado springs, I'll be sure to stop by again.

Sherpa Garden Restaurant and Bar in Colorado Springs is an absolute treasure! Vibrant Nepali decor and cozy vibes made us feel like we were in Nepal. The momos, momo soup and Tibetan noodles were scrumptious, bursting with authentic flavors, took me back to my hometown. Friendly staff sealed the deal. A must-visit! Highly recommend!

Google
Wonderful restaurant, kind employees, great ownership, and a unique, super clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment (both inside and out!). I've eaten here several times and had a fabulous experience. The flavors are complex and wonderful. Biggest recommendations are the noodles and the sweet potato dish. Also love the saag paneer and the chicken curry. And the Dal (lentil soup)! I hosted a graduation party here for 35 guests last weekend and had a great experience. It was easy to plan, super affordable, and the guest absolutely raved about the food. Highly recommend!

Google
Sherpa Garden is hands down, our favorite restaurant in the Springs! The couple that owns it are incredibly kind and hospitable and are pretty much always there and seem to love feeding people. They are so careful to make sure our order is fully vegan as we request and I have no doubt it is. The ingredients are super fresh and she has told me she used as much organic as possible, which you can taste in the flavors! The atmosphere is so cozy and the service is excellent. My toddler inhales the Tibetan noodles and is so excited when we eat here or get take out!

Yelp
I ordered the chicken vindaloo which was pretty good but the star of the show is the momo soup. The broth of the momo soup was just absolutely unreal. Perfect sweetness and salty balance. I would highly recommend the momo soup!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was so cute and quaint inside! I found the naan bread to be solid, not outstanding. My boyfriend and I both loved the lentil soup. The real star of the show here was the chicken momo soup. The broth was unreal! Soo flavorful and fresh. It was warm and light, perfect for the cold rain that greeted us in Colorado Springs. The momos were flavorful and filling. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well (chicken vindaloo), but we both agreed the real showstopper was the chicken momo soup!

Yelp
Food was great and the service was even better! I highly recommend the chai tea and the lamb

Yelp
This restaurant is so amazing and in a great location on the way to old Colorado city. The food here is so fresh and delicious, with options for everyone. They offer many Indian dishes, including aloo mutter and aloo gobi! They have tofu options and a selection of great appetizers including samosas. Services was very prompt and friendly. It was a quick meal and a great atmosphere. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the art is very beautiful.

Shweta Tejpal S.

Yelp
I wish I could give 7 star to this restaurant. Very nice food. I liked the fact that they don't make curries very oily. Garlic naan was super, soft and crisp to the point. Loved it. They gave daal and rice as complimentary sides. Staff was extremely polite and hospitable. 100% recommend it.

Yelp
I'm in love with Sherpa Garden! We just moved to Old Colorado City and are only a few blocks away. Can't wait until the weather is better to walk here for lunch. I've tried many Nepalese Restaurants in my lifetime and this is absolutely in the top 5! If you like spice, ask to have a side of their habanero sauce, it's super good! Saag and garlic cheese naan is a must with your main dish!

Samantha R.

Yelp
I visit Sherpa Garden each time I come to Colorado Springs. The restaurant has a beautiful mural inside and a pleasant patio outside. The food and service is always excellent. My latest visit was immeasurably brightened by our server Sonny. Can't say enough nice things about Sonny, but here are a few- Sonny was welcoming, gracious, and fun. I cannot recommend Sherpa Garden enough.

Yelp
I must say, we were kinda amazed with the food and service we had at Sherpa Garden on a Sunday evening. Mind you, we rarely eat any sort of Indian food when traveling. However, I couldn't resist trying out Nepalese and Himalayan food. Somehow, living in the Indian capital of the world in Central New Jersey has not exposed me to any good Nepalese or Himalayan food at all. Therefore, we explicitly ordered items to ignore the conventional Indian items. But first, the look of the restaurant was pretty cool. Loved the paintings inside and the decor outdoors. The waitresses - two young women - were nice and nimble. Usually in tourist towns, the service is quite slow, but these women proved otherwise. We ordered the following: Saag dip: enjoyed the saag as it wasn't too heavy and creamy. Had the essentials that were needed. The naan itself was very fresh and tasted good. Deep fried veggie momos: these were one of my favorites too. Had a good serving of veggies in it. I was a fan of the dipping sauce. Added a nice kick. Daal: we each got daal in small bowls as a starter. This was a pleasant surprise. This had a very good taste too. I loved how the dal was served in small bowls. In general, the glassware was impeccable. Thukpa: I loved this. Huge fan of the veggie broth. The noodles were easy to eat. Plenty of veggies and a good kick at the end. Tibetan tofu with broccoli: this was another great dish and a solid complement to the thukpa. Mango lassis: tasty, yet not super sweet. The overall theme is that the ingredients were fresh, but not excessive. The food felt homemade to me. The ambiance matched it. I wish more NJ Indian restaurants can learn from this place.

Yelp
This place hit the spot. I had the Tibetan chili, which was reasonably spicy and of excellent quality. A bit on the expensive side. This is a nice place so reasonable to pay for the nice atmosphere. Service was friendly and prompt.

Yelp
Pros: Ambiance, music, cleanliness, friendly and fast servers, free and easy parking. Our appetizers were yummy - vegetable samosas, a spinach cream dish with fresh naan, and chicken dumplings. Also, they gave everyone in our group a small bowl of lentil soup which was yummy. Cons: Like the other 1 star reviews of this place, I agree- our main course dishes were bland. I got the Vindaloo which had a little red pepper next to the name (spicy) on the menu and when my food came, it was not spicy at all and was very bland. The chicken in our dishes was breast meet cut into cubes and dry/not good.

Nicholle W.

Yelp
Such a sweet kid greeted us upon walking in and was very enthusiastic as he served us. Very kind. Food was delicious, especially the naan. Also the decor and art is beautiful.

Yelp
This place is super cute and the food was very good. Our server was nice and attentive. It brings Nepalese and Indian food together in a very nice way. I found the curry dishes to be less greasy than usual, which was nice. Good dumplings! The chai tea cocktails were also wonderful. There is a super cute garden surrounding the patio seating area. A great place to eat.

Yelp
Cute little place, great atmosphere. We ate outside and the food was delicious. The service wasn't extremely quick and I prefer when the appetizer comes out before the meal so there's something to nibble while I wait. But honestly it was just a pleasant place to be that I wasn't too bothered, and the food was very good.

PJ V.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant, and my wife & I loved that they had some great vegan options. I would definitely go back. Nice peaceful atmosphere.

Yelp
Did some takeout and I was very impressed with the samosas. I think this are the best samosas I have ever eaten. Had some paneer tikka masala which was yummy, and some veggie vindaloo which in my opinion was not spicy at all, although quite tasty. Now I have to go again to eat there. Overall I had a good experience with the food.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing Tibetan theme decor and great cultural touches to Nepali and Tibetan heritage. The ambiance hits the spot, no doubt! The service was excellent, our sever was extra nice to us. The food however didn't match our expectations. We expected a much more authentic Nepali and Tibetan flavor but it was more catered to American palette. We had the Chicken and Veggie steamed Momo's, lamp chowmein and chicken chilly. The portion were too small for the price. The Momo's were filled with Nepali spice. However Tibetan Momo's are usually plain with minimal to no spice. The chowmein barely had 5 small chunks of lamb (we literally counted, lol), the chicken chilly was nothing close to an authentic Nepali chicken chilly dish. If you are getting introduced to Nepali Tibetan food then yes you can definitely try this spot but for someone like us who was born eating Nepali Tibetan cuisine, the dishes served here comes nothing close to the authentic food! Having said that the side Daal soup was on point!

Yelp
SUCH good food, and amazing service! It was warm and cozy just the right spot for a chill evening with friends or family!

Yelp
The Sherpa Garden restaurant was one of the last restaurants we came to on our vacation and it was easily our best food experience of the whole trip. The service was very fast and everyone was really friendly. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. We loved the ENTIRE experience down to the last bite.

Yelp
We were in the mood for Himalayan food and came across Sherpa Garden. The interior felt and looked traditional. The service was excellet, our server kept coming back to check on us and asked if we wanted more rice. We ordered the appetizer sampler, the pan seared beef momo, sherpa stew with lamb and sherpa sampler, all to share. The appetizer sampler was alright, the veggie pakoras were my favorite. The beef momos were also a delight, seared just enough to not be overdone. The sherpa stew had more ingredients than soup, not that it's a bad thing. The sherpa sampler, of the three samples, the lamb was my favorite, even tho it had a strong lamb taste, the meat was really tender. At the end, we even ordered their mango ice cream, as it's in house. It felt like a combination of a sorbet and ice cream in mango lassi flavor. Overall pleasant time eating here and would come again if ever in the area.

Monte C.

Yelp
We really enjoyed Sherpa Garden, the atmosphere was enhanced by their tailored colorful murals on the walls. The service was excellent and personable, note that we were the only ones eating in at the time. The food was very good as well for sure! We will certainly be returning many times, and during the slow hours of the afternoon to again enjoy the whole experience at its best, in our opinion.

Yelp
3.5 stars - 3 for the food and 0.5 extra stars for the wonderful staff. Our server was very sweet, friendly and welcoming. We ordered the momos to start with. I got the mango lassi and my brother got the Mustang Chai. For the main course, I got the chicken vindaloo and my brothers got the himalayan curry with lamb and the tibetan chili. We also got a couple of garlic, cheese, onions naans. The momos were really good. Esp with the hot sauce, they were delicious. The mango lassi was very smooth and just the right side of sweet. My brother loved the Mustang Chai - tea with whisky . I tasted it and it wasn't my cup of tea at all . Overall, I was a little disappointed with the main course. The curries didn't look anything like I expected. My vindaloo was a little runny and just ok to taste. I actually liked the himalayan curry more. The naan was big but too hard and I didn't get much of the garlic at all and some cheese and some onion. The chili was decent and probably the best out of the three. Guess this is not a place that goes with my taste palate, but these people are very nice!!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Awesome food! Definitely surpassed expectations. Will eat or order online here again :)

Yelp
We stayed down the road from this place and walked here for dinner one night while staying in town. We ate outside and it was very nice and relaxing. I will say the inside looked very clean and nice but we always eat outside if it's offered! Our service was immaculate and the food was the best!! We come from a town where you can only get Indian food from a handful of places and this place puts them all to shame! I wish they were back home as I'll miss this place! Everything is made from scratch and literally can't complain about anything it was that good from the service to the food!! We will be back when we visit CO!

Shannon B.

Yelp
First off, the food was amazing. I ordered deep fried chicken momos and they were out of this world! I also had the Tibetan noodles with chicken and they were even more amazing! Second off, the service was great! My server introduced himself as "sunny" and he was just great! He was quick, asked me about my day, answered any questions I had about the menu, and just overall asked how my day was and it cheered me up! Great food and service, I will be coming again

Robin L.

Yelp
Really lovely patio and gardens. Did not find the food to be as flavorful as other like restaurants in the area but the staff was lovely and the experience was a positive one.

Anna L.

Yelp
Great food and decent price! I wish we have this in Houston. They are also very accommodating.
google avatar

Kaylin B.

Yelp
The food was very bland. Asked for spicy and there was no spice. Everything tasted the same. There was no music and we were tucked away in an awkward room. If you're looking for Indian food, look elsewhere!
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Service was fine, ambiance meh. We ordered channa masala and veggie korma, normally two very different dishes but the sauces were basically identical, very bland, reminded me a bit of campbell's cream of tomato soup with a hint of chef boyardee. Zero spices. Like NONE. So bizarre. Way too many bell peppers and not enough other veggies. It was edible, we didn't walk away hungry but we would never ever go back. Luckily since then we've found good Indian food elsewhere. Don't understand the good reviews or how they make it in OCC.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
My mom and I checked out Sherpa in old Colorado City and it was so good! We ordered the veggie steamed mimos to start and they came with this very tasty dipping sauce. Then for our meal we split the Garden Delight. It was a great way to sample a few different things without getting a huge portion. Then we also had the regular naan and it was probably the best naan I've ever had! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The samosas and momos are delicious and if you're thinking of ordering them as apps, you must! The Dahl was salty and addicting. For mains we ordered the Tibetan noodles (good, but wouldn't order again) and 2 types of curry. Both curries were delicious. Our waitress was amazing! Most of recommendations for food and drinks were spot on. If you're a chai fan, you need to try the chai here! The do a cocktail with their homemade chai and khakis that is divine. We will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Misshelle B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat since I moved to Colorado. It is a family owned business and food is made by the owners. The food is so fresh and everything has so much flavor!. What i love the most about this place is the quality and variety of Vegan options they have. I had tried the Sherpa Stew, Vegan Tukpa, fried rice and my favorite the Mo Mo soup. They also have different options of Naan bread and the appetizers are very inexpensive and also delicious, they bring you a small cup of Dahl complimentary after you order. They have a variety of liquors and craft beers, I had tried the Sherpa brew so far which I recommend. I come here sometimes once a week, owners and staff are very friendly, I always enjoy my time here and always forgot to mention the most important thing, they are super friendly with service dogs which makes us come back each time. Definitely recommend everyone to come and try!
google avatar

Randall B.

Yelp
Delicious! Very tasty yummy food. Wow. Service was great. Price to portion ratio was a tad high, but the flavors made up for it all the way. We will 100% be back again. The location is very cozy and warm and features a nice outdoor dining area in the front. Inside is very cool, as the decor is very well done. Parking is off street only I believe. We tried the combination platter with lamb and chicken, creamed spinach and sweet rice pudding. So good! It comes with rice and a good sized naan bread. We left nothing on our plates and both left totally stuffed. A+ Check it out guys!

Yelp
I was so happy to stumble upon Sherpa Garden. I visited during lunch with my mom and we had the most pleasant time! Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. She offered to tell us about any dish that was on the menu. We ordered hot chai (OMG YUM), Chana Masala for me, Chicken Makani for my mom, and a side of plain naan. The portions were perfect for lunch and reasonably priced. I was surprised that it came with a bowl of dahl! Excellent flavor in all dishes. Next time, because I know I will be back, I will order my dish to be medium spice.

Robert S.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. Apps, naan, entrees and fried rice. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Harshit J.

Yelp
Sherpa is a Tibetan/Nepali restaurant. We ordered Vegetarian Momos and we found it decent, not the spicy stuff we are used to. The curries are also mild and creamy, chana masala surprisingly was creamy too. Kabuli naan was really good. I ordered a draft beer and it was good too. All in all a decent place for a curry fix, the owners are cool and the place is pet friendly. I'll rate the place better than 3 stars as the owners are really good host though the food is too less of my liking.

Yelp
COVID review! Most of the dining tables were on the outdoor patio. They did have dine in service but most the tables were empty. We lucked out this restaurant was just around the corner from my rental house While visiting Colorado Springs. We ordered the nepalese noodles, Napolese stew, chicken tikka masala, Dahl, and garlic naan. The food was wonderful. The stew was very earthy and comforting. Our kids really enjoyed the Nepalese noodles. This was really the secret hit. Not too spicy. Perfect for kids if you have some picky kids that might want to dine here. Parking is really along the street. The hostess was very friendly. If this was a testament, our kids wanted to go back. Come try this restaurant in old Colorado city. Just a few blocks down from the main street.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE this place everything they have is delicious! The service is great and the atmosphere is comfortable.

Yelp
In a word, calm. Wonderful calm atmosphere, calm patrons, calm music, calming food. The complementary yellow split pea soup is worth the trip all by itself. We started with the super-thin bread with yogurt sauce and tamarind sauce. I Had the lamb Jal Frezi. Delicious and the lamb was perfectly cooked and totally lean in a mild tomato sauce; lots of perfectly cooked veggies. My spouse had the sag paneer and it was very good, if a little bland. Portions were perfect w/a bit of each to go. Checked out the other food being served and it all looked great with obviously fresh ingredients. There was a noodle dish that looked really yummy, as did the steamed dumplings. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. Go. Be calm. Be happy.

Trace B.

Yelp
The naan is exceptional! We love the chicken Makahani as well! We wish the lunch buffet would come back!

JamesNCheri L.

Yelp
Food was good, eating outside was wonderful, but service left a lot to be desired. We had a group of three and each ordered naan. One naan was delivered to the table with the momo appetizer. The chicken momo's were quite excellent. We received our food with no additional naan. We waited and ate and finally had to go inside and ask. They weren't aware that we ordered two additional naan even though the server took the order on a hand held device. We did get the additional naan, but we were nearly finished with our meal. Additionally I ordered my Paneer Jal Frezi hot and asked for extra hot sauce in case it wasn't hot enough. My coworkers ordered their food medium. My Jal Frezi came out mild with little flavor. Very disappointing. Our server didn't come back around until we were nearly finished. I asked if she had ordered my for hot or mild and she told me it was to be hot. I told her it was mild. She told me that they have a cook that has a hard time seeing to read. I thought that was reassuring since the person was cooking my food as well. I then asked if she had remembered the hot sauce and she had, but forgot to bring it to me. The food was good. I may try eating here again just for the Chicken Momos. They were delicious, but I have to mark this restaurant down just for the horrible service. - He Said

Yelp
We were traveling to town to visit family and were looking for a restaurant that offered vegan options in the area. We like to eat a lot of food, and everything was so good! The owner was very involved, and has a lot of passion for what they cook! When we asked she let us know a lot of the food comes from her family recipes and heritage. We had leftovers the next day and we are still raving about it! I'm so glad we found this place, Sherpa Garden is going to be a regular for us when we are here!
google avatar

Sarretta M.

Yelp
We read about Sherpa Garden in the paper and wanted to try it - glad we did because it was excellent! It's easy to miss (corner of 10th and Colorado) and has only been open a short time, but make the effort - this is a restaurant you will want to visit regularly. It is one of the best experiences we've had in Colorado Springs (and we eat out a LOT)! Parking is a little tricky if you're there during a busy time, but we were there late afternoon and it was fine. We were greeted immediately with smiles and welcome. We chose a table by the window and the lovely Owner/chef/waitress/hostess Kandu Sherpa brought menus and a carafe of water. The menu has a nice array of appetizers and entrees from both Nepal and Indian cuisines. There are combination platters as well. You choose the type dish you want and then add a protein if desired. We started with the Momos, homemade Tibetan dumplings, pan-seared, and an order of garlic Naan. The momos were similar to chinese dumplings but the dipping sauce was very different - slightly spicy and very flavorful. The naan was perfect - one large flat, cut into fourths and perfectly seasoned! There were many delicious-sounding dishes, but I wanted to try a Nepalese dish so I asked for a recommendation. I was directed to either the Nepalese Noodles or Tibetan Beef & Broccoli. I chose the noodle dish with veggies and chicken while my husband picked Vindaloo Vegetables. The homemade noodles were outstanding! The seasoning of the dish was SO good! And the chicken was in bite-sized pieces which appeared to have been cooked with saffron. YUM!! The veggie Vindaloo was also extremely good and my husband cleaned his plate. The owner checked on us regularly and was so friendly and hospitable; it was almost like sitting down to dinner at a new friend's house! We can't wait to go back and try one of the lunch specials and different dishes. The dilemma is always whether to choose a new flavor to experience or to have that wonderful dish you had last time! I guess we'll have to return often. :)

Yelp
Came in for lunch on Saturday, quiet and prompt service. So many choices on the menu! The garden patio is so beautiful and lush even on busy Colorado avenue. They really take care of how this establishment looks and feel. It's beautiful to just look around at all the artifacts. The food is good as well. Not my favorite Indian, but definitely a place I like to come back to.

Yelp
This family is SO nice. Food was delicious. The daal is so good and it was the perfect meal after a day in the snow. Thanks for the great service and delicious food! We will be back if we're in the area.

Yelp
Little late with this review. Husband and I ate here back in October or November 2020 after not going anywhere to eat in forever we were tired of it and wanted to get out. The owners are so nice. :) My husband is vegan and ordered the sweet potato marsala (I think that's what it is called). He loved it and still raves about it to this day, (We are going to go back soon). I had the chicken curry. I was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor, but overall it was okay, I may try another dish next time. We ate inside but they also have outdoor seating on a nice day. Parking in the back of the restaurant (there is a tiny walkway along the house that will take you to the front) or you can park on the street if there is a spot. Great restaurant, local, vegetarian with some vegan options. Will be back!!

Yelp
What a great restaurant! Beautiful dining room (even if it can't be used) awesome patio for outdoor dining on the nice days! Can not wait to come back with my wife and baby. Would have to recommend the Momo app and the Tibetan fried rice

Narayanan R.

Yelp
Food was decent. Dahl SoupSpicy Tibetan ChiliTibetan Noodles. Service was good, except she forgot our Pappad and removed it from bill when pointed out. Ambiance was good for a small place.
