Shiku Sushi

We got the ZigZag roll which had whole deep fried soft shell crab which was AMAZING. This is definitely gonna be a place we plan to bring all our friends who come and visit. Also it’s in such a cute area, perfect for hanging out.

Shiku constantly surprises me with its excellence, even though I've grown to expect it. In my opinion the most underrated spot in Ballard. Service and vibes are second to none, and rotating specials and bar specials keep the menu fresh; not a single option misses. This has quickly become my favorite go-to date night spot.

Had a fantastic time at Shiku Sushi tonight! We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and meeting the owner herself, Kayla. She’s great and will kindly steer you in the right direction if you’d prefer she select something for you off the menu. The sake and nigiri was awesome, I’ll most definitely be back for more soon.

Took myself on a solo sushi date, and I’m so happy I ended up here. I sat at the bar, and Jessica was the best bartender ever. Making sure everyone in there was being taken care of. I ordered 3 sushi rolls: the honey, Philadelphia, and eel roll. I loved the honey so much that I want to go back for it today! Highly recommend this family-owned restaurant!

Had a great experience at Shiku Sushi after a movie down the street. The ambiance was nice, and the staff was great. This is the new menu and management, and they seem to be doing a great job. The creamy scallop nigiri and amberjack were both so good. Prices were very fair for Seattle too. The owner is really nice and even helps out at the sushi bar, which adds a great touch. I’ll definitely be back to try the sake deals!

The sushi here is amazing! I've been back 3-4 times and averaged 4-6 rolls per visit, they are consistent and delicious! The service usually leaves something to be desired but the job gets done and the food is good enough to make it a non-event. I have only tried a couple of the cocktails on the menu but they have been pretty tasty (just Ballard prices). The appetizers have been pretty yummy and consistent too.

We love this spot! The master sushi chef Khine always makes us great chef specials, and asks about dietary restrictions and allergies as soon as we sit down. Assistant Master Chef Riley also delivers from the best sides and appetizers from the kitchen. Everyone on staff is very friendly and attentive. The pricing is competitive and the food is really good quality.

The Zigzag (deep fried soft shell crab) sushi roll was absolutely to die for! The atmosphere and service at this place is absolutely fantastic. This is the kind of place I plan on bringing all my friends to when we’re in the area. I’d also highly recommend the Ballard Ave roll as it’s part of their happy hour menu. Be warned though that the premium rolls are already pretty filling so me and my partner found ourselves struggling to eat both the Zigzag and Ballard roll in one sitting!

Okay YUM! I am always on the hunt for a new sushi place and was so impressed by this spot. I went on a Sunday for their 12-6pm happy hour and was so happy with how much sushi I got for the price. I told David, our waiter, that I am gluten free and he immediately went to print out a special gluten free menu for me. This special menu had a LOT on it and they had some tamari for me. I got 3 happy hour rolls! Spicy tuna, Seattle roll, and David recommended the salt and pepper roll for me which I LOVED! Each roll was only $10 on happy hour which was an incredible price. The fish tasted so fresh and we could not get enough of the rolls. David was amazing. Super personable and on top of things. I wish I could take him with me to every restaurant and have him be my permanent waiter- he is just the best. There was a cool vibe here- dark wood and they had Star Wars on. It was a very Ballard experience and I just loved it. I will be back soon!

Wanted a happy hour when we were in Ballard and was happy to they had one on a Friday. The service was very friendly and nice and we sat at the bar so we had nice chit chat. We went right when happy hour opened and there were a few groups there by the time we left. The sushi was really good and not like anything I've had before. Both of the cocktails were good as well, weirdly I found the stem of my glass really sticky which is my only complaint.

I have visited this restaurant on twice while visiting the Ballard Farmers Market. On Sundays, they have a Happy Hour menu from 12-5. On my most recent visit, we ordered everything on the Happy Hour menu. Fish is fresh and the rolls are delicious. We also ordered the glazed chicken wings. Service was fast though the restaurant was t crowded. We sat at a booth both times and it's comfortable for a party of 4. Would not hesitate to return!

This was a nice sushi place in Ballard. Our server was super nice and funny. We were able to sit outside by the street which was a walkable street so it was nice to sit by. The prices were good for Seattle sushi. They only have tea bags which could be something for them to improve.

Another wonderful meal at Shiku! Great assortment of rolls, and fresh seafood ingredients. The service is prompt & friendly. We usually dine inside at the bar with lots of windows, this evening we at outside in the cozy patio area out front. Fantastic sushi option in the heart of Ballard!

Super clean. Miso taste delicious (specifically NOT like sweaty socks which is what .most places smell & taste like) Happy hour was great it goes until 6:30pm Got to watch a suspense movie while I enjoyed my dinner. Something I overheard during my stay. In the photo attached, the owner is on the right training under the sushi chef. How cool! Based on my observation, she was so humble and excited to learn more about a craft. 10/10

A very pleasant experience on an afternoon of hard to find parking and friendly places on a hot day in Seattle. The staff was patient with the +1 we were waiting for. Excellent choices with tasty options for everyone. Bar staff super friendly as well!

They added the tips automatically without any reminder and asked for more tips when you checked out. They cheated the customers.

We had a wonderful time at Shiku Sushi. Service was great and the dishes were delicious and huge.

Service is good and attentive, ambiance is fun. My fave drink is why we come back - Mango Manga. Had the baked mussels, which was nice and had a bit of spice but not too much. The Bruce Lee and Ninja roll were good. I ordred the sashimi roll, forgetting that it doesn't have rice, so that's the one thats my least fave, but otherwise everything is delicious. Don't mind paying over $100 on good food, drinks, and service.

Updating my review to 1 star now because I already had a mediocre experience here, but now they've decided to send spam to my email like 2 years later. I'm presuming they picked this up from my credit card purchase because I sure as hell never signed up for a shiku sushi newsletter. Not cool.

The honey and I absolutely loved our visit to Shiku Sushi! Dropping in after a long walk, I ordered the avocado, cucumber, and veggie rolls and loved every one of them, almost ordering seconds. I'd been really missing having a veggie roll with fresh vegetables and between it and the avocado rolls they really hit the spot. The service was friendly and prompt and I loved the music they were playing. All and all I would definitely come back to Shiku Sushi and adored their vegetarian selection.

The sushi is fine but the wait and price make it not worth. I ordered the Sumo Roll, Sasquatch Roll, and California Roll. The two specialty ones tasted great, but for about $17 each they were not substantial. I don't know what they did to the California Roll but it was the worst one I've ever had. Half the restaurant was empty when we came on a Monday night, but due to the long waitlist we sat around for about 20 minutes before we were seated. Only one party came in during that time. Not a big deal, just inefficient. There are so many good sushi restaurants in Seattle. It's fine if this one is conveniently located and you want sushi. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Awesome happy hour deals - after a filling meal with drinks, our total was just above $50 after tax and tip. The environment is very comfortable and staff are friendly as can be. We had the house sake, a ballard roll, a california roll and takoyaki. All were excellent. We're excited to return and try more!

Looking for a dinner that wasn't too heavy, it was decided that Sushi would be the entree of the night. They have decent outdoor seating, and the weather was just right, so we went with that. I'd recommend although music from the Sabine across the street can be heard if it's a particularly good night over there. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our table throughout the visit, but her knowledge of the menu was so-so. She was spot on with the Crispy chicken appetizer but a bit of a miss with drink suggestions. The crispy chicken app is shareable as my party of 3 had about 3-4 pieces each. It comes with a teriyaki dipping sauce. I went with the Honey Roll - big shrimp tempuras, avocado, cucumber, & chili sauce topped w/ seared salmon it has some in spicy mayo & honey drizzled on but not drenched as advertised. Still, it was excellent and will absolutely get it again. It's a specialty roll so it's a bit higher than some of the others but would recommend. I had some of the Dragon Roll which was also pretty good. The "Mango Manga" cocktail was strong, a bit too strong but alright. Tasted like some good tier Vodka. Definitely the better sushi than a place nearby whose name rhymes with "reach". I'd come back to Shiku.

Although there is some nearby competition for sushi spots, I definitely recommend trying Shiku sushi. I came here on a Thursday and we sat down right away in the cute outdoor area. The service was excellent! Our waitress Jenny was very helpful and friendly. As for the sushi itself, it was very good. However, the appetizer we ordered, the fried chicken bites, were a bit on the dry side. The sauce was good, but it was hard to coat all the chicken in the sauce to make it moist enough. For sushi rolls I had the rainbow roll which was great! The fish tasted very fresh and the crab inside was good. I also shared some of the Dragon roll, even though it wasn't on the menu, they were nice enough to make it upon request. For a drink I tried the Yuzu sake. It was quite good! Not too sweet or too strong tasting. I look forward to a return visit.

Really busy restaurant right in the best part of Ballard. I enjoyed my Sashimi and green beans. I do wish I didn't have to try so hard to order though. I kept making eye contact and trying to place an order for about 5-10 minutes before someone checked on me.

An absolute go-to neighborhood spot in Ballard. Prices are reasonable, service is always great, and the rolls are fresh.

Great selection of nigiri, Sashimi and exotic rolls. The steelhead nigiri was exceptional. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The place was clean and right in the heart of Ballard. I would hit it again.

They gave us someone else's order. Their sushi isn't easy to identify, so I didn't realize it wasn't what we ordered. I almost ate it, but my wife cautioned me, because the order didn't look right to her. I have serious allergies, and I'm careful about what I order. I tried to get our waiter's attention. I could see that the waiter was attending to various other tasks. The waiter came over. We asked if this was our order. The waiter said they gave us someone else's food. So, they nearly put me in the hospital, and my wife saved me. The waiter said they were going to tell us, but it had been several minutes since delivery, and I could clearly see our waiter was not dashing over to our table to tell us. Instead, we had to wave them over, and THEN they told us. From my understanding, restaurants are supposed to train their employees to be more careful about this sort of thing.

We got quickly seated and it wasn't busy which was good. Although it took 10 mins to serve us water. 5 minutes later the waiter poured water and took our orders. The food took about 10 mins. But we were missing the Fried Stuffed Halapenos. The waiter came by and we told we were missing the Halapenos. Another 10 min goes by and still no Halapenos. Note: this place wasn't busy at all and the cooks were just standing around. So we waited total 35 mins and had to ask again. So i'm the next 5 mins they finally came out. The food was good, nothing special about. I got the Bruce Lee, Spicy Tuna, California Roll, and the Crunch. Tasted mediocre, if your looking for a place to eat sushi while walking around ballard choose this place. If you want something to spice up your meal get the "Fried Stuffed Halapenos". They were very flavorful and not to spicy.

Not worth it. The wings were cold and small. The sushi was below average. Basic, boring and not delicate at all. I got the Sumo. The service was sub-par. The waitress took a while to take our order. She didn't make us aware of last call. We would have ordered more but probably best we didn't since the food was underwhelming. Would never come here again.

My wife and I adore coming here! The service is fantastic but also so personable. The food and drinks are great. Highly recommend, especially for the service :)

A great spot to people watch during the Sunday farmers market. The servers were excellent but when I got my "chirashi" Lunch for $30 the plate was laughable. I know the costs have gone up in the restaurants but don't make fun of the customers or they will never return.

We came here a little after they opened for their happy hour. We were immediately greeted by the host/server and sat down. Our server was excellent and attentive. I loved how the restaurant's interior looked, as it would be a perfect place for a special occasion. The meal we ordered consisted of California rolls, Spicy Tuna roll, Salmon hand roll, and Salmon Skin Sunomono. The sushi tasted excellent and fresh. The salmon skin sunomono was slightly salty for my palate because of the sauce. Despite that, it was a perfect appetizer. Overall, our meal filled us up for about $30. If you want sushi during happy hour in Ballard, I recommend this place.

Disappointing. It was cold & loud in the restaurant. Understaffed. We were seated immediately & the bartender took our appetizer order, which we received quickly: veggie tempura. The tempura was good, the sauce a little flavorless. Then we were ignored for another 30 minutes. We finished our appetizer while more tables were sat, their orders were taken and still our server did not return to our table, even though it was a small enough establishment that he walked past our table several times. When he finally returned we just asked for our check and left. No apologies for the wait. Terrible service.

Best sushi of my life! 10/10 recommend anything the Puget Sound and Leary are phenomenal but everything is so delicious!

The service was great. Such a cute place. We thought the food was excellent and we tried a fancy saki - so good! Definitely a fun romantic date spot.

We stopped by for the happy hour after going to an appointment nearby. We chose to sit in their outdoor seating section on the street. We ordered solely off the happy hour menu. My favorite was the crispy spicy tuna. Their spicy tuna has a good kick to it! The sushi was good, but nothing mind blowing. The service was great as our waiter was friendly and quick.

Yes we spent an extra day in the PNW so we could get to Shiku Sushi again after our last trip four years ago. And once again the trout nigiri and sashimi was out of this world delicious. I had the Hama Hama roll which was splendid, spouse had Sashimi roll which was fascinatingly built, it must be wickedly hard to get it right. Even the kid who won;t eat any fish went wild for the ginger fried chicken and the edamame. Love, LOVE this place. So sad its so far from home.

Stopped in today for my second visit. Disappointed the Ikura (Salmon roe) was unavailable again yet still on menu.

I love love love this place. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. I love the many combo's they offer. I am from New Jersey and it puts my favorite place to shame. When visiting family it is one of new favorites. Great job

I tried this place for the first time recently; it was a great experience. It's got a nice atmosphere, and 3 expansive menus. I had the mussels and coffee jelly with a beer; all were really good. Service was fast; my bartender was David and he did a great job. I'm definitely gonna visit again sometime.

OCCASION self care AMBIENCE Casual and lit FOOD I ordered the miso soup (4/5), salmon skin sunomono (4/5), and the crunch specialty roll (4/5). I like the salmon skin with the cucumber (I did find this a tad bit too sweet for me). SERVICE Pretty good. They check-in on you to take your orders and refill your water without you noticing. I'd come here again

Met a friend here who was craving sushi and who had heard many good things about this place, and we definitely weren't disappointed. I ordered my go-to sushi roll, the Spider Roll, and it was delicious. I also tried the Pork Gyoza and Seattle Roll off the happy hour menu, and they were both good. My friend ordered three sushi rolls and enjoyed all of them. For cocktails, I got the Yuzu Lime Drop and the Lychee Martini. I loved the Yuzu Lime Drop, but not so much the Lychee Martini; that one was a bit too sweet for me. Friendly bartender, great service. Would definitely go again.

Sadly disappointed by Shiku, it doesn't live up to the high standards of neighboring restaurants on Ballard Ave. We were seated outside and received spotty service throughout our meal. We ordered what vegetarian options we could off the menu, including edamame, cucumber avocado roll and tempura veggies. Everything took a while to come out and kind of left us feeling a little sick afterwards. With all the sushi offerings throughout Seattle I wouldn't recommend it.

Horrible experience with one of their employees, Fidel. He was totally rude to our party and was filthy. He should not be handling food.

Came here for my anniversary. The vibes were perfect for the occasion and any date really. Sushi and cocktails were delicious, but somewhat overpriced. Service was good but a bit slow

I'm amazed this place has a 4 star rating. I would also be amazed to find out the owner of this place has been here in recent memory. It's bad. The fish was not fresh, the rolls were so small. The ambience is great if you're looking for blasting angry droning music. Probably works if you just want a drink and that drink is on the Happy Hour menu. The place smells like a urinal cake. Not surprisingly they don't have an excellent food safety rating. We specifically stated a shellfish allergy and were served shellfish(?????). Moshi Moshi, Billy Beach, even Sam's would be a far better choice.

We stopped in for cocktails before dinner, since every other bar on the street was packed to the gills at 7:00 on a Saturday night. Our bartender was happy to see us, even though we weren't eating dinner and the place was busy. His quote, "less work for me." Thus, we happily settled in for a couple of round of drinks. He was great and soon I was giggling like an idiot, happy to be out and buzzed on a Saturday night. However, patrons waiting to eat, were not happy with us. One woman in particular, stood in front the door, shooting me looks reminiscent of my math teacher in high school catching me looking at Lenny Goldberg's test sheet. This woman, wearing a gray sweatshirt and glasses, wouldn't stop. She would make a great fascist general. Was sitting at a bar and just drinking, a Seattle faux pas? I didn't know, and I just kept giggling. Once I paid our bill, this woman almost knocked me over getting to our seats at the bar. I almost confronted her, which is my usual, but I decided for the sake of my wife, to let it be. Yet, out the door and on the street, I let out a loud expletive, which helped me, but shocked the Ballard locals. None the less, I enjoyed Shiku Sushi.

Great local sushi spot! I ended up here by chance the first time I visited Ballard, and once I moved to the neighborhood it became my go-to for sushi and izakaya food. They have the best sushi happy hour, which includes Saturday and Sunday 12-6, so I usually end up here for lunch on the weekend. I have tried their regular menu, as well as daily specials, and happy hour, and have yet been disappointed. I'm a huge sushi fan, and to be honest, having visited Japan a few times kinda ruined sushi for me in the US, but this spot is great for a quick high quality american sushi bite, and their bar bites (izakaya) are comparable to stuff I've had in Japan. Also, get the triple ginger mule, you will thank me.

I'm not a huge sushi fan and this will forever be my favorite sushi!!!! They have wonderful combinations of DIFFERENT rolls. Sure they have some standards, but the flavors and textures they create are top notch! The Puget Sound is my FAVORITE roll of all time, spicy crunchy tuna is drool worthy, along with the honey and 7-up if you're into citrus. They have amazing options, wonderful staff and fun music vibes every time we go in.

The only place I've been to in Seattle that makes Nigiri the traditional way, with a little bit of wasabi under the fish. Fish is top notch..

Sadly their happy hour sushi wasn't as great as I'd hoped. There were the tiniest slivers of avocado in the Seattle roll and the escolar topping on the salt & pepper roll (rice + avocado) was abysmal. We ordered 3 rolls and although the restaurant was mostly empty we waited 30+ minutes and had to ask about our order.

the smallest rolls in the land. $150 for 1 1/2 little clamshells of food. we had to order from another restaurant because the food was so tiny.

I am very impressed with this restaurant! The service was stellar! I would recommend getting a reservation or at least getting there early because we had to wait for around 40 minutes for a table to open up so we went to another bar nearby and got some drinks to wait. The sushi portion in my opinion was pretty big and of course look delicious. The softshell crab was the best softshell crab I've ever had before, big and super fresh! Everything else was pretty good, I'd definitely come back!
