The Best Korean Restaurants in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"One of the city’s newer Korean restaurants, Silla touts itself as “modern Korean,” which mostly seems to refer to the sleek, contemporary-looking dining room, though the food is also presented a little more elegantly than your average neighborhood Korean spot. The restaurant is known for its galbi tang, a rich beef short rib soup, and it also offers distinctive, harder-to-find dishes like yookweh (a sesame-oil-based beef tartare), oysters fried in an egg batter, and sizzling stone pots of eel-topped bibimbap." - Luke Tsai

My family and I have been regular customers at this place for years now— and we always leave feeling satisfied and with a positive experience. The food is delicious every time, no matter what we order. We’re particularly fond of the fried chicken and would definitely recommend. They recently added a fried chicken platter and it’s well worth it, we loved it! Customer service was exceptional.

Google
My first time experience at Shilla and I was compelled to write a 5 star review because I enjoyed the food so much! I visited shortly after they launched a new $20 set lunch. The portion size was generous and the side dishes were amazing: Japchae, kimchi, bean sprouts, bowl of rice, radish, 1 piece fried chicken, 1 piece fried dumpling ….so much variety and you choose ONE soup and ONE meat option! Everything was fresh and food presentation was great…if you can come for weekday lunch there is plenty of seating without waiting…go before this place gets too busy! I’m looking forward to come again and try their dinner menu!

I’ve been a regular at this place for a year now, and it never disappoints. Today, the server recommended their new lunch menu, and wow… it was amazing🥹🥹 You get to choose one meat and one soup, so I picked the LA galbi and the seafood tofu soup. Can you believe it’s only $20?? Every single dish was delicious, but the seafood tofu soup was my absolute favorite. It tasted like a rich, flavorful jjambbong broth—so good I couldn’t stop eating it. The LA galbi was juicy and tender, cooked perfectly. The soup was packed with seafood and had a deep, savory flavor that totally hit the spot. Everything was seriously delicious. I’m already planning to come back tomorrow and try a different combo. Highly, highly recommend ❗️

I always visit to here when I feeling to eat Korean food, then all of thing was perfect all the moment!!! That Not only the taste but also the ingredient seems fresh, so I trust and order it every time I visit!!😆 And the price also reasonable!! Compared to other Korean restaurants in Vancouver, the price is cheaper. So it's good to eat without any burden and gives a lot of food, so I'm very satisfied🤤😋 I extremely recommend this restaurant!!!🍽️

Google
Big BBQ Combo is great. Must try. We were told is good for 3, but that's a lot of food! Can feed 4... or 5. We enjoyed it all. Also ordered beef bulgogi and packed the rest for lunch.

Google
Tried their new $20 lunch set special and it was a really good deal! It comes with 10 dishes and you can choose one meat and one soup. Really good options like bossom, LA Galbi, beef bulgogi and more. The soup options were really good too - beef tofu soup, ox bone soup, seafood soup. Portions are very generous and the food was really good. We got a whole order of bossom. The pork belly is so good and melts in your mouth. Also got one cold noodle and one spicy cold noodle dish. It was nice and refreshing. We will definitely be back for their $20 lunch sets. Note: meal was complimentary in exchange for a collab reel.

Google
The Korean Fried Chicken is incredible. All 4 flavours (cheese, spicy, honey, and normal) taste great. The pricing is very good. Staff are kind and courteous. I will definitely come back.

Google
Shilla Korean Restaurant is a great addition to Vancouver’s food scene, serving tasty and authentic Korean dishes at good value. Their Bossam is a must-try because their pork belly has been sous vide for 15 hours until it’s melt-in-your-mouth tender, served with fresh lettuce and classic sides. For amazing value, their $20 lunch combo is hard to beat. You get 10 different dishes, giving you a full and varied meal for a low price. Choice of protein and soup, served with items such as japchae, kimchi, rice, fried dumpling and chicken. Dine in only!!! Their fried chicken is crispy, juicy, and satisfying, but runs in the middle of the pack. A family meal here will not break the bank and the restaurant is spacious for family gatherings.

Yelp
Came here for our Sunday family meal. Tons of street parking right off Kingsway. Love the ambience. My wife and I opted for the $20 lunch special. I had the Korean OX Bone Soup and Sous Vide Bossam -- OX Bone Soup is very clear, will need to season yourself depending on how you like it. For me, I appreciate that it's a very clear broth. The bossam is very tender and well seasoned. The wife opted for the Seafood Tofu Soup and Beef Bulgogi, which she enjoyed. The Seafood Tofu Soup was quite generous portion, lots of seafood and very tasty broth and tofu. Can't complain about the beef bulgogi. You can't mess that up. The banchan selection is varied and delicious, with something enjoyable in every bite. The chicken cutlet is not your usual one piece cutlet and cut up--it's boneless fried chicken deep fried in panko. Served with rice, and Kimchee, sweet corn, salad, side of sauce. My son loved this and he was full, and the kid can eat. My daughter loves her noods so she got the Seafood Noodle Soup--broth was tasty and flavourful, and lots of seafood. Served with a side of Danmuji (pickled radish). This was very enjoyable for us. We would definitely come back. Amazing food, great value, friendly service.

Yelp
Visited with two friends during their lunch time and we indulged in a delicious meal consisting of a lunch special, fried chicken platter and the bulgogi beef hot pot. Lunch bento - you have a choice of soup and meat (we chose seafood tofu soup and bosom) plus few side dishes and rice. We loved the variety in this lunch bento and the value was well worth it! Fried chicken platter - came with 4 flavours of fried chicken that were juicy, crispy and tender plus french fries, corn and pickles to provide a little bit of a palate break for all the fried goodness. My favourite was the sweet and spicy flavour. Bulgogi hot pot - loads of veggies, beef and other toppings in a boiling pot. Portion is very generous and of great quality and this could definitely serve 3-4 people. Overall, a great place for delicious Korean meal with large portions and good prices. Service and kitchen can be a little bit slow but well worth the wait!

Yelp
Shilla is a Korean restaurant located on Kingsway! I had a tasting and I tried many plates that were offered to us. My favourite were the new released kimbap which was loaded with ingredients! Their fried chicken platter was massive and offers a lot of variety of different wings. The vibe setting of the restaurant is a bit old school and worn but I feel that's the charm of it. Would come back for their kimbap for sure!

Yelp
Pretty decent Korean place on Kingsway between Fraser and Knight. Parking is available on Kingsway, as well as the side streets. The place is pretty modern and spacious. Dark theme. Staff are friendly and helpful No complaints. Banchan - kimchi, cabbage, pickled turnip, bean sprouts. Beef bulgogi - pretty tasty. Served with cabbage and green onions. Jukkumi samgyupsal bokkeum (spicy stir fried baby octopus and pork belly) - sweet and spicy without too much kick. The above 2 dishes came with bowls of white rice, which helped dilute some of the sauce. Korean fried chicken - tried 2 flavours. Decent, but definitely want to share the portions. Can't really eat a bunch of pieces with the exact same flavour. Overall wouldn't mind coming back. Friends and I left happy. Recommended.

Yelp
Shilla Korean Restaurant on Kingsway is a Vancouver gem for Korean cuisine. The food is delicious, portions are generous, and the banchan (side dishes) add an extra layer of authenticity to the meal. The atmosphere is comfortable and the good service make for a welcoming dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Korean BBQ or craving comforting soups, Shilla does delivers. I'm sure my Korean heritage speaks volumes when I say I do recommend Shilla for your Korean comfort food fix. Cheers!!!

Yelp
My family got three whole chickens here for takeout--honey garlic, yangyeom, and regular. They were all really good! The chicken pieces were huge, tender, crispy, and juicy. They weren't battered too much. Wonders for a soft mouth! Honey garlic wasn't too sweet--it had the perfect balance. Yangyeom was surprisingly good! Also not too sweet. The regular was of course good. Flavours were on point. My only complaint is they gave us two tiny daikon containers for three whole chicken orders. I don't know if we could have asked for more free of charge, but it was too late by the time we got home. It took around 30 minutes to get our chicken, as to be expected. Luckily the restaurant has a really large waiting area. Very nice and spacious.

Yelp
The only place I can get a really good cold noodle dish in Vancouver. A super refreshing dish during the hot summer days. The steamed egg appetizer was a nice add on. I've had the seafood pancake in the past and it is delicious! The music was a bit loud in the restaurant and may take away from trying to have a conversation. The space is good for larger groups.

Yelp
Been a customer, and dare I say supporter, for many years, even before their renovation. After the renovation, the interior is now much cleaner and more modern feeling. Customer service was not great. Slow on food even though there were only one to two other tables there. I guess there were also take out orders. But they only ever refilled our tea once and would take a while even when we asked. The tea pots were small and the food were salty so we naturally wanted to drink more liquid-- but yeah, one refill only. Honey Garlic Boneless Chicken -- skin was way too thick and not crunchy enough. I had to rip off most of the skin and just ate the inside, granted it was tender and juicy! The honey flavour was awesome, but didn't quite taste the garlic. Corn cheese -- usually a huge fan of corn cheese, but this one was not great. For $10, I was only able to get four bites out of this. It was a super thin layer abs not satisfying at all. Seafood pancake -- had the perfect crisp and was definitely the highlight of all the dishes we got. Generous portion too! Japchae -- have always been a fan of this, but this was a completely missed dish. Way, WAYY too salty. However, still very flavourful and the noodles were nice and stringy. Bibimbap -- nothing special. flavours were there, but something tasted off, even after we mix the sauce in. Overall, not the most pleasant experience and was disappointed. I always recommend Shilla to people because its quality use to be good for the price with friendly service. I feel like I need to take that all back now.

Yelp
great food! really delicious with big portions. The atmosphere is okay but that's only because I wasn't a fan of the kind of music they played.

Yelp
It was 8:30pm and my friend and I wanted a small but quick bite. We ordered the Original Fried Chicken Wings ($18.98) and they were amazingly crispy and came piping hot to the table. So satisfying eating these warm juicy wings and the batter was light. We also shared the Shilla Jajang Noodle ($16.98): black bean sauce with noodles, onions, zucchini, cabbage and pork. I enjoyed the noodle dish but my friend wished the noodles to be on the warmer temperature side. I said hot sauce and cold noodles don't make the dish too warm so not the restaurant's fault - just the nature of the dish. We enjoyed our quick bites and now planning to get a bigger group together so we can try hot pots and other dishes. Great little Korean restaurant in the middle of Vancouver when most are out in Coquitlam. Restaurant was clean and scanned QR code for the menu. If you require immediate attention then press the button at the end of the table. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful in explain the dishes before we settled on our two for the evening. It was not busy when we arrived but it's also late. I notice lots of pick-up for take-outs. Free parking on Kingsway after certain hours or on the side residential streets.

Yelp
Great place for a get together. After a Zumba masterclass with friends we booked at this place. And ohhh it didn't disappoint us. Food was great and deliciously prepared. The place was cozy although we were really loud from laughing and storytelling however our servers were really on point.

Yelp
I lived in this area before maybe 2 blocks away from this restaurant. Korean gig with a different name now known as Shilla maybe the same owner. Looks different now, more space and more chic looking. Street parking and thanks God until now its free. Each table has a red button buzzer...pretty neat... Minimal decors, friendly customer service. EATS: Takoyaki octopus balls based on my research this is a traditional street foods from both Korea and Japan. The balls was decorated with a tempura scrape and shaving of dried bonito (Katsuobushi) that moves like tiny feathers, I like it when you chopstick the balls it feels like you catched a fat butterfly...tasted good though....not the very best but not the worse.I love the ones from night market..... I also got the hotpot bibimbap, I always prepared this kind than the one serves cold, When the rice and other stuff from base of the pot get a bit toasted, it taste more Korean to me....I loved it specially when soy sauce and hot sauce mixed on my bibimbap. Reasonable pricing, excellent food with very good service and homey ambience.. Good for group kids and family friendly... Debit, cash, credit okay

Yelp
I'm sad that Seoul Doogbaegi closed down but in its stead, Shilla Korean Restaurant has taken it's place. It's a few doors down from Sunny's Chinese Food. They've done some major renos and it shows as the place is modern and sleek. The Korean music is upbeat and a touch high on the volume side. Click the call button on the table to get one of the waitresses attention. The menu consists of appetizers, tteok-bokki, noodle, main dishes (tofu soup, off the grill, bibimbap), hot pot, special dishes, fried chicken and drinks. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 6:30pm) and it was busy. - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts, potatoes and pickled radish. Kimchi had a decent kick to it. Bean sprouts were refreshing. Potatoes were soft. Pickled radish were crunchy and light. Nothing out of the ordinary but good enough. - Seafood tofu soup (M4) ($14.95) - it comes with a bowl of rice. There was some squid, shrimp and baby shrimp. The broth was okay but didn't have much depth or complexity to it. It was lacking a kick to it. - Seolleongtang (M9) ($11.95) - first time ordering this and likely the last. The broth was bland. They bring out salt and pepper, which it desperately needed. The beef slices was dry and tough. You don't get much noodles either. A sad, unsatisfying bowl. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 6:00pm). - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts and potatoes this time around. We were able to get a second round. - Jaeyook stir-fry (M6) ($16.95) - nothing out of the ordinary but it came with an abundance of cabbage and onion. - Bulgogi jeongol (H5) ($33.95) - their hot pots come with two bowls of rice. The amount of bulgogi (sweet and tender) you get was surprisingly impressive. Broth was flavourful, a touch sweet but well balanced. Tasted as you'd expect bulgogi to be. The glass noodles were satisfying and vegetables included rice cakes, tofu, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, green onions and onions. Perfect for sharing. On the fence with Shilla. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Will update soon as it's my first time coming in ever since Seoul Doogbaegi owner retired. Ordered the Korean Spicy beef soup, I enjoyed it. It's a good mix of bean sprouts, potato vermicelli, onions and a robust soup. I'm looking to get a group together to try the rest of the dishes and I've noticed they have an excellent section of liquor from Korea.

Yelp
La Galbi and dakgalbi wasn't too bad. The galbi was a bit chewy but charred and flavoured nicely. The dakgalbi was nicely spiced. Just enough enough spice with lots of onions. It was $50 for both dishes and while it's not the cheapest, it's reasonable for Korean.

Yelp
This place changed hands a few years ago and it was the first time coming back. The restaurant was renovated and looks much cleaner and nicer than before. There are no menus. They ask you to scan a bar code and then you have to navigate how to get to the website. Not user friendly for elderly or technically challenged people. We ordered the oxtail soup. It was bland. I don't know why they don't flavour it and just give you salt to flavour yourself. We couldn't get the right flavour. We ordered the spicy fried chicken and it was a bit soggy with a ton of batter. The Tteokbokki was hella spicy. Almost not edible it was so spicy. The side dishes were lacking in flavour and variety too. It was ok but not as good as the old restaurant that it replaced.

Yelp
This place is great for getting your korean soup craving fix. I have visited twice this year and ordered the same dish both times for takeout. I had seoulong tang and it comes with kimchi and rice. I'd recommend it if you want a hearty, yet non-spicy soup. The service is fairly quick and pleasant. They give a discount for takeout during quarantine and you can order ahead.

Yelp
When it first opened, the quality of food was subpar but Im glad I gave it another shot and now its one of my go-to spots for late night food! There isn't many Korean restaurants in the neighbourhood that are open this late (till 12am), perfect for fried chicken and beer. Jajangmyun (Black bean noodle) Hot Pot Combo $66+ It can feed about 3-4 people easily and its so worth it! It comes with a massive sizzling plate of seafood jajangmyun, teokboeki rice cakes, and sweet and sour pork or boneless fried chicken. The black bean noodles are their specialty so its a must-get item, one of the best I've had in Van. Everything is so saucy and savoury. Yangnyeom fried chicken (boneless) Sweet, spicy, crispy, and juicy chicken. Perfect with beer! Kimchi Tofu Soup Can't go wrong with bubbling hot soup especially for the cold weather!

Yelp
Take out experience was extremely terrible!!! I waited nearly an hour for 3 dishes and restaurant was only 1/3 full. Beef noodle soup had barely anything inside with few scraps of meat and rest is liquid. Rice was in mushy chunks and carrots, mushrooms, and beef weren't fresh at all. This is definitely lower than food-court quality. Quite a shame really...
google avatar

Winnie H.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed with the Yukgaejang spicy beef soup, taste was average probably because there was no meat in the soup to flavor. It only came with two small pieces of need. Will not be ordering from here again. The kimchi side dish was tasty and still crunchy the only upside to my meal tonight.

Yelp
Delivery review via SkipTheDishes-- First time ordering from them. I only ordered two things but they were pretty good. I ordered the Jajangmyeon noodle and Yangyeom wings. Everything was packaged nicely and it came with some pickled radishes. The black bean sauce was separated from the noodles. I was a little thrown off at how little the noodles looked but I was wrong. The noodles were just enough but they definitely give way more sauce so I actually ordered a side of rice to eat it with the next day. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Had a good chew and bounce to them. I've tried many Jajangmyeon and this had to be the best one I've had. The Yangyeom wings were still crispy and the sauce was evenly coated. Had a good balance between sweet and spicy (but i prefer it a little more spicier). I did notice that the food wasn't hot considering they're only a 10-15 minute drive away. And I ordered quite late (11:45pm) too so no traffic to keep the food waiting but I do appreciate that they're open late. I hope to go in and try some more of their food. Otherwise, I enjoyed everything I ordered.

Yelp
So on a slow Friday, we decided to visit Shilla as it looked interesting .. walked in and was met by a young fellow, very polite and explained to use the QR code to access their menu..well structured and categorized .. It took a while to figure what was what as their wait staff were either busy in the back or wanted to get off the floor..there is a button on the table to call the staff.. ordering was very efficient and it was the youngman that regurgitated our order ..we requested low salt as well as spice so we are waiting on the food..there was a thermos of cold water but as since we are typical Asians we preferred tea.. a young lady ran back and forth servicing one table then another table of Korean speaking gentlemen came in.. they received much more attention by that unfortunately is a cultural thing where the emphasis is on the Male..as the young lady was running past our table I attempted to track her attention to zero success.. deaf to my request for tea .. it took 15 minutes for the first items to show.. your typical accompaniments..tofu soup..honey garlic deep fried chicken and the deep fried Mackeral ... the last dish was their Bibimbak .. this one came without the traditional heated clay pot so rather different from all of the other ones that I've ever had..loud music but very few tables occupied..

Yelp
There are a lot of pros for this restaurant. First, spacious dining area with certain tables marked to create more distance. The service was friendly and fairly prompt (though maybe it has something to do with fewer tables to serve). I also liked that they had a separate doorway with a table blocked just for takeouts and delivery pickups. The menu is pretty extensive. I only wish my dining party was slightly larger so I could try more items. We still did pretty good with personal size pork bone soup, beef & tofu soup, deep fried honey garlic chicken and baby octopus & pork belly. All, with exception of the chicken, came with a bowl of rice. I noticed the soup bowls are a tad small even though it's supposed to be personal size. But with all the other dishes we have, nobody left the table hungry. Both the soups had really solid flavours. However, the beef & tofu was a bit too oily for my liking. I enjoyed the chicken and the octopus dishes as they were both my choice. The batter on the chicken wasn't too thick, dark meat was used so super juicy and they didn't skimp on the honey! Lastly, the octopus and pork belly was served on a hot plate. I asked for mild and it had the perfect amount of heat. A good amount of baby octopus and slices of pork belly throughout along with cabbage and onions. They even offer bingsoo (shave ice desserts) but I was too full to try. Hope to come back and try their jajangmyeon hotpot style which is served on a hot plate with seafood mixed in. The prices are slightly higher especially for the soups ($13-15). The chicken was average at $17 and octopus dish was $18. However, their flavors are really good and I would revisit to try more dishes.

Yelp
Not bad! I work in an area that has a lot of Koreans and whenever it was lunch time, the entire classroom would smell smelled amazing! In search of a good Korean restaurant on Skip, I found this place. So far, I've gotten takeout 3x I've ordered their pork cutlet, kitchen fried rice, soy wings, yangyeom wings, corn cheese, jajang noodles, and takoyaki. When I first found this place I ordered their yangyeom wings, jajang noodles and takoyaki. Their yangyeom wings were still crispy and slightly crunchy when it got my place and was covered in flavorful sweet but spicy sauce. The jajang noodles were good, but I prefer it from chuihong in surrey only bc that one had loads of garlic and onions. My dad doesn't like that so he prefers this one. Their takoyaki was small, but nth special. Second time ordering, I ordered both yangyeom wings, soy wings and corn cheese. The corn cheese was nasty . I was expecting it to come in aluminum like the on in the pics on yelp, but I received it in a small white plastic container. It was literally cheese on top and under was dried out corn with sugar, gross!!! Soy wings were delicious and if you had to get me to chose between soy or yangyeom, I'd say get both bc they're both totally different but good. Third time I ordered the pork cutlet and kimchi fried rice. I was craving pork cutlet and ordered this. I'm not a fan of the cutlets sauce and the rice was super hard, gross! But the pork katsu itself was delicious!! It was fried perfect and light and was still crispy when it arrived to my house! The kimchi fried rice was not bad, it was HUGE and I like to eat it with the kimchi that it came with (side dish). Overall, I like it here and definitely will be ordering again

Yelp
Nothing special. In comparison to the previous Korean restaurant, the interior does look better. Other than that, I don't know what to say. The price is more expensive (noticeably); the taste for the tofu soup is quite flat (like many ppl said almost tasteless) I liked the previous restaurant more. Too bad she retired..

Yelp
We used to be regulars at Shilla until covid lock down. When restaurants opened up for delivery and pick-up, we started ordering regularly on Uber. At first the quality and the prices were on par with dine-in. A year later and we cannot say the same. Every other order is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes our Ttukbaegi and yukgaejang would be missing noodles, or the egg, or not enough meat. The last straw was when they started giving only two of the four sides for their bossam... I think any bossam lover would agree that it is the sides that make the meat tasty. Their fried chicken is batter heavy and what used to be $12 for some wings is now nearly $19. There are just so many options on Uber for korean food (sumi) and korean fried chicken (chicko chicken) that we just cannot justify ordering from here.

Sarah C.

Yelp
I ordered the KKanpoogi today and ended up getting yangnyum chicken when we called the place back that our order was wrong they said no it was the right one. However when we asked them how come the picture looks different from the kkanpoongi online on their website they said no it's correct. I've have kkanpoongi so much in my life to know these people were probably lying or just not wanting to accept their fault on their end. Anyways I don't plan to order there anymore as this is a very upsetting situation. If they make it look like yangnyum chicken they should post the correct picture instead‍. Not a place I recommend and not people of morals. There's no sense of professionalism at all if they can't own up and I've confirmed it in a picture the business owner posted. I hope nobody who goes here gets that kind of service ever again.

Yelp
Friendly waitress. However, the service was extremely slow. We had to wait for at least 20' for our food and banchan even though the restaurant was not at its max capacity and there were at least 3 waitresses working that night. Food was mediocre too. Probably won't be back.

Yelp
Korean BBQ resto along Kingsway and Glen Dr. The food is sooooooo good i kept craving about it the whole time. Try the squid and pork belly and it won't disappoint you. Try the sweet and spicy chicken and you will forget your name. The service is superb!!!

Yelp
Ordered from this place for the first time tonight, as I was really craving Korean food. I ordered japchae, which is my absolute favourite Korean dish. Well, what I got was thoroughly disappointing. The noodles were a stuck together, glommy mess. The noodles appeared dry, there was basically no sauce or flavour at all. Barely any meat, and only a few dinky little pieces of onion and cabbage for veg. For the almost $20 I paid, this was absolutely not worth the money. And to top it all off, the noodles appeared to be cooked in butter, not the usual mix of soy and sesame oil. I'm lactose intolerant, so not only was this revolting, but it will probably make me sick. This was in the "special dishes" section of the menu, by the way. What a joke. I'm now having to order in from another restaurant, because this food was inedible and I had to throw it away. I have not tried anything else from this restaurant, and now I never will, as I will not ever be ordering from them again. There are way too many restaurants in Vancouver to waste my time on bad food, so my advice is to steer clear of this place and find somewhere better.

Yelp
2 hungry families went to Shilla for dinner one weekend. First of all, no need to line up at 6:30pm for 7 of us which was saving grace! We ordered Bulgogi Jeongol hot pot, Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), Nangmyeon and Half & Half Bone in Korean fried chicken all for only less than $120! The hot pot is for 2 people, but the portion should feed 3 hungry people, and may be 4 not-too-hungry people. The half and half KFC came first with the spicy half served in a huge bowl, which we thought they have taken wrong order to give all spicy KFC to us; however, 1 minute later, another huge bowl of KFC was brought to our table as the non-spicy half. We went from hungry to stuffed, and even had leftover to bring home. Food taste good and price is so reasonable. Service is good without rushing you to finish even though it's on weekends. Will definitely come many times in the future!

Yelp
Ordered through Skip an hour ago. It definitely leaves a lot desired; the soondubu was just meh for the price: one small spring onion, onions, some squid, little shrimp and one prawn. There were no banchan, which made me laugh because I paid the same prices as the restaurant diners. I also would not have minded paying extra if it was an option. The padak was really disappointing. Alone the chicken was bland but I did appreciate the fresh green onion salad and the sauce on the side. If this is how it is with Skip orders then I don't need to visit this restaurant. I am currently sick that's why I ordered takeaway. I live five minutes away from it... Pass!

Yelp
I ordered from Skip The Dishes and was quite disappointed. The japchae barely had any meat or veg and the tteokbokki was extremely spicy but bland. It would be fine in a food court with food court prices but it was also not cheap.

Yelp
I've had great Korean food and decided to try Shilla as it's in my neighbourhood. I ordered Bibimbap, which was cold and hardly had any beef. It was bland and the sunny side egg was burnt on the bottom. If I wanted to order a bowl of Rice I would have. Not again. The only thing that was good was the service.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were here the other night and had an amazing dinner! We ordered a couple things to try a bit of everything, everything was so delicious! Yuna served us that night and gave wonderful customer service! We live around the area so we'll definitely be coming here quite often

Yelp
Ordered through uber eats and I was not disappointed. Shilla has the best tteokbeokki and the best takoyaki I have ever tasted. I don't know what their secret is, but they have the perfect consistency for both. Also---they even reheat in the microwave well! Tteokbeokki is known not to reheat well in the microwave, but I got the same consistency as when it was fresh. (1 minute, mix, then 30 seconds again).

Yelp
Shilla is a new restaurant that took over a well established Korean restaurant in the area (which used to be one of my go-to Korean restaurants). I like this place! Pretty good food, reasonable prices, interesting menu with a pretty good number of items to choose from. However, if you care about fast and/ or attentive service, this may not be the place for you. Maybe my experience was a one-off though, it is still kind of the holidays after all. I was in on Jan 2, and the place was pretty packed. There were less than 3 employees on the floor at any given time for probably around 20 tables. We were seated and given menus, utensils and cups fairly quickly upon arrival. Our tea was forgotten by the harried servers. It took us a few minutes and a few tries to flag down someone to get tea for us. We noticed that every table had a jug of tea, but we were given just cups. The server explained that they were out of the jugs. Oh well. I ordered the spicy beef tofu soup, and my partner ordered a pork hot plate stir fry. Shortly after, we received our side dishes, which were decent. Thankfully the food didn't take too long. I was served my soup first, and my partner waited for maybe a few more minutes before his dish was served. My soup had pretty good flavour to it, and the ingredients were also on point. One of the better Korean restaurants imo. I also tried my partner's dish, which was an impressive portion and also quite flavourful and adequately spicy, albeit a bit greasy (but it's supposed to be that way!). Only thing was I wish it was a bit hotter - the dish would've tasted loads better if it was sizzling on the cast iron plate it was served on. Every time we needed something (which was not too often), it would take us glancing around and craning our necks for a few minutes, waving at the scurrying servers (who may sometimes pretend to not see us) a few times before we could get service. This does get tiring after a while. When we do get service, they were nice and friendly. They just looked so busy. I guess it has been hard to hire food workers. I'd come back on a weeknight to give it another shot. Lots of people ordered their fried chicken and I'm quite curious about it. This may become one of my regular haunts, until I tire of the service.

Yelp
The YangNeom chicken was OK. It wasn't crispy at all like it's supposed to be, but the sauce tasted authentic (spicy, sweet, red). The Seafood Tofu soup was better, but nothing special. If we ordered off skip the dishes, our total would've been $40.xx - not a great price...I would rather go to Andamiro (down the street) if you want either of those above items. Their fried chicken is really good.

Yelp
We went to this place cause it's the only Korean restaurant that offers Gopchang Jonggol (not sure of the spelling). It's a spicy casserole of beef intestines, tripe & meat with assorted vegetables. It was delicious and we enjoyed it tremendously. The place is new, nice table layout and very clean. Service was excellent, we never had a chance to call the servers attention because they were on too of their game, refilling the side dishes and our tea. Will definitely go back to try their other offerings.

Yelp
Group of 4 and we ordered the japchae, budae jjigae, seafood pancake, and their sweet and spicy fried chicken. The flavors were all there but there's definitely things that didn't make it perfect. The japchae was delicious, abundant, and had a nice chew. However there was barely any meat and vegetables to go with the noodles 4/5. We got the medium sized budae jjigae and it came with two bowls of rice which was nice. Spam, sausage, instant noodle, deep flavorful spicy broth, what more can I say 5/5. Seafood pancake was crispy and delicious, even for someone who doesn't LOVE eating it I gobbled it down 4.5/5. Sweet and spicy fried chicken was good, not too spicy not too sweet, still had a good crunch after being smothered in their sauce. It's not the ultimate KFC (Korean fried chicken) I've had though 3.5/5. Their banchan was their shortfalls I thought. I agreed with one of my friend that their kimchi was very fish sauce heavy and their bean sprout banchan was not very flavourful. Their potato banchan which was the best out of the three was quite heavy-handed with the soy sauce. All in all, there was more positive to the food than negative so it's definitely worth a try and I would choose this place over a lot of other Korean restaurants.

Yelp
My review of 'Shilla' needs to start with a tribute to 'Seoul Doogbaegi'. The same location changed hands in summer, 2019. I will miss the mom and pop hole in the wall that was Seoul Doogbaegi - a rare gem. The one serving ajuma was regularly run off her feet but seemed to prefer to run things that way, even if people reviewed her service poorly when she got tired. Food was reasonably priced, unique and tasty, and the last time we were there, the matron in the kitchen came out to us, announced her retirement, and thanked us for our patronage. We had frequented the place for several years but only every few months, and yet we were noticed - maybe because I as a white guy with a Chinese wife and I ordered in spoken Korean. As for Shilla, the previous 'hole in the wall' with stacks of magazines, old plastic plants, and Rublov's icon of the Trinity on the wall changed to an ultra modern fuly renovated décor with a host of front of house young Korean staff. It was time for a needed face lift, but there is a sadness in losing the quirkiness and personal touch of mom and pop. On average, the new food was decent: yummy panchan, rich flavourful ttugbaegi bulgogi, acceptable Galbitang, and very fatty (ie not in a good way) honey garlic chicken. Service was eager to please for their first week in operation. We'll be back to try other dishes. I should add that at the time of my writing, all the 'google pictures' of the interior are still of the previous Korean owner in the same location. Plus, the 'shilla.ca' website is still very much in development phase with no helpful info besides location.

Yelp
This is easily the best sweet and spicy Korean fried chicken I have EVER had. Good value, good service, AMAZING food.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere. Very modern and open. The staff were very nice and checked up on us during our meal. They weren't pushy to make u leave once you're done eating which is very nice. The food was priced pretty similar to other korean restaurants. The food was good. Also very happy that they were able to split the bill and they take credit and debit cards!
