Our first time here, our family had a lot of fun. athe cook was entertaining and charismatic, and we appreciate how he kept us all engaged while enjoying our meal.

Awesome place for Teppenyaki style food and fresh sushi. Aloha roll with the ribeye steak entree was perfect! Great chefs and wait staff! Can't wait to come back.

Always a good time here. Our cook Poki is the best. Great personality, funny, and always polite. The staff is always nice and friendly. Love coming here.

We came to Shima for a birthday celebration and it was really fun. The cook was so entertaining and the servers kept all of us happy. They have a full bar and the drinks were really good. They provided a birthday treat w a candle and sang happy birthday. Had an all around great time. Will be back.

If you're in the Chino area and are debating between Wabi Sabi and Shima... I recommend SHIMA 100%! For 4 reasons: 1. SHIMA uses more garlic butter! If you're a garlic lover. . . SHIMA is the way to go! The way they season their scallops is 🔥 ! 2. Their fried rice, in my opinion, is better and more flavorful! 3. They actually give you drink refills! At Wabi I feel I'm always looking around for a server to order another drink. At Shima They were on top of their drink orders. And last but DEFINITELY not least. . . 4. ALBERTO! He was our Teppan Chef and he was amazing! Super entertaining and an amazing cook! He cooked my steak to a PERFECT medium rare (pictured below) and was very attentive! Did I mention he also has some hilarious jokes (in spanish)! He had our whole table laughing! (*LITTLE TIP* buy your Teppan Chef a Sapporo/beer) trust me your kindness to your Chef will go a LONG way! Over all my first time dining at Shima was amazing! My first drink was a Yokozuna Martini which was good but too sweet for my liking! And I ordered their Shima steak with Calamari and added scallops! It was incredible!

4 stars.typical teppanyaki/ benihana style restaurant.food is tasty and portions are fine.prices are about normal for this type of food. Place looks ok but nothing special though. It is usually not too busy so you don't have to wait in line.

We took our son to dinner for his birthday and had an enjoyable time at Shima. We had reservations and arrived a little early and seated right away. Our chef was very lively and put on a great show. The food was outstanding. They were pretty full so the noise level was pretty load and it was a little difficult to hear out chef. Overall a very nice place to eat.

Very good customer service to say the least. Our chef was very helpful and charming he offered little tastes and the food was even better. In my opinion it was a lot better than Benihana I will most definitely be back for diner.

I've been to this place a few times, but this last visit really turned me off. The menu clearly says there's an upcharge of $3.25 to substitute fried rice with your meal. First off, it's strange for a hibachi place to only include steamed rice to begin with; every hibachi I've been to includes fried rice automatically. The real issue is how they handle adding chicken. Instead of charging a reasonable upcharge on top of the $3.25, they tack on another $6-7 as if you ordered a whole separate chicken fried rice entrée. That means instead of a small add-on, you end up paying $10.50 extra per plate just for chicken fried rice. So when I ordered four meals, I was hit with a $42 charge for rice when two of those meals already came with rice, and the fried rice should have just been a substitution with a fair add-on. No other hibachi restaurant I've been to charges this way. It's a bad system and feels like a rip-off. I won't be coming back. And last time I had green lobster tails.

This place was great! I came on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. It was very big and spacious inside, and bit crowded at the time. You have the choice to sit at the sushi bar or by the stove where they cook the food in front of you, hibachi style. The miso soup was flavorful. They had good ginger beer. I tried their lunch combinations and the filet mignon, chicken, scallops, and shrimp were all good. The rice had so much flavor, I loved the garlic butter. Our server was the best! He was very energetic and really put on a show for us. Our food was delicious too! I would highly recommend and definitely return. Thanks for the great service! :)

Everything was perfect! The service was terrific, our chef Alberto is amazing. We had a wonderful dinner. We'll be regulars, we were driving too far did teppan not knowing this place was a local gem!

Knocked off a few stars for their prices. Paid $211 including tip for 3 adult meals; 1 children's meal; and 2 garlic edamame. No sushi and no alcohol. No sodas either. The men's restroom is gross. It's dirty. Needs to be cleaned and/or remodeled. My favorite chefs are Alex and Alberto. In my opinion, best cooks in house. Food is delicious. You do get large portions. It's very filling. Great flavor too. It's a shame that we can no longer request a chef. That's too bad. I will come back here for lunch. It's cheaper and smaller portions.

We went early ( 4:30 pm ) staff was exceptionally accommodating as our party came in sporadically and most restaurants will not seat you unless everyone is there. In our case it was a medium size party with only one person yet to come. We all sat down and were immediately entertained by the chef with fancy knife work and a sense of humor that was already honed to perfection. We celebrated a birthday and felt as if we were right at home. My recommendation is to go and have a great time, enjoy the food, the company and the moment as this is what makes it all worth going and making memories! We had a wonderful time doing just that.

They need a bit of remodeling. The carpet or something stinks now and the place smells musty. The prices have increased since Covid to boot so don't know if I will return!

This place is a big favorite of my man & I! We've been coming here for years and now get to bring our son here with us! Great food, great service. We are big fans of Alberto, always friendly and providing great service! We always hope to get him when we come.

This place is always one of our favorites, the food off the wall, the service class A+ and price just right for the type of food as well as the quality and service that it's a must SHARE with ALL... stop on by and you can see for yourself just how good it is...

Been coming to this place for the past 18 years. Yesterday was our worst experience ever, the service was absolutely terrible, 4 times we ordered soft drinks with light ice and every time the waitresses kept bringing us drinks with ice filled up to the top. Even worse and my main complaint was the chef. He was so bad that the other chef behind him noticed it. The grill was way too hot to cook on, the chef behind him told him to lower the temperature and you are burning everything and smoking up the restaurant. He did not listen. He kept asking over and over and over and over which food was for who, we all had medium filet mignon, we all received well done filet mignon's because he couldn't follow simple instruction and kept asking how we wanted our steaks while the steak was over burning. The rice he made had more salt than an ocean. The lobster was so over burned that it was crunchy. We were celebrating a birthday and dumped almost $500 down the drain. Not to mention he kept speaking Spanish, I don't even speak Spanish. Y'all lost a long term regular customer. I miss when the server Adrian and the chef Alex used to work there.

Short wait time. Friendly quick service. Our Teppanyaki Chef was very friendly and entertaining. He cooked our food to each of our individual requests. The food was fabulous and great for leftovers. So much food for the great prices I couldn't finish everything. Plenty of easy close parking.

This was my first and celebrated my dad's birthday. The service was on point. The guy who serviced us was very cheerful, accommodating and made our experience memorable. We were a large group (12) and he delivered good. Our party ordered the steak- shima and filet mignon. And definitely the meat was tender and flavorful. The kids also loved their portion. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended for groups and date night! Thank you Shima!

Service here is great and always friendly! They are always checking to see if you need anything. Chefs are friendly and entertaining. Food is very tasty and delicious. My family has been here twice and my picky kids love it..

I came here with my son, his wife, my grandson and granddaughter. We came to celebrate Mother's Day (late) and my birthday! Its is a family friendly place! They were so accommodating with the kids! Booster seat for the 3 year old and high chair for the 10 month old. Tho she much rather be held by daddy! We asked for a bowl of plain white rice to appease the kids while ordering and waiting for the cooking show! Also warm water for the babys formula when asked was brought right away! The food was great amazing chef totally entertained the kids! Vanilla ice cream with a candle was the topper! So special!!!

Quality of food is good. Pricing is a little on the expensive side for the portions. But if money is no issue, highly recommended checking this place out.

my kids love the tap on Yaki. The food is delicious. The employees are all great and helpful. We normally visit at least once a month definitely the place to go for a birthday or any type of celebration highly recommend

Went on a Saturday for lunch around 1pm. No wait time for a party of 6. I felt bad for the chef since we had a 1yo with us who freaked out during all the fire parts. The food tasted good and the prices were decent. Hopefully next time there's more laughing and less crying. I'm actually surprised the fried rice had flavor. I expected it to be like those other teppanyaki where they only use salt and pepper and o despise fried rice with only those 2 ingredients.

Sushi and teppenyaki were delicious! Service was great! Waitress and waiters were very attentive. Definitely recommend.

Hello, see you tomorrow, lol! We went to Shima sushi for my son's 15th. B-Day and it was amazing! We had a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us at 1 tepan grill, our chief was funny and kept everyone entertained during the meal, we will be going back.

This is definitely not a teppanyaki restaurant run by Japanese people. I'm certain it's operated by Chinese owners from Fujian, imitating teppanyaki style. Therefore, the hygiene conditions are questionable.

MY FAMILIES FAVORITE RESTAURANT!! Been coming here for close to 20 years. The service, the staff the FOOD has always been great! I refuse to go to any other teppan restaurants. Thank you shima!!

Delicious!! Great, entertaining service, great food. We would come more often if it wasn't so very pricey, but we enjoy every bite when we do come!

This was a midway point for our family who live in Los Angeles and Riverside and we love Teppanyaki. This restaurant was on point and had outstanding service. The sushi was a hit and the rest of the food that was delicious. Definitely will be returning!

Today Aug.30th 2024 at 6:30 pm, when returned to Shima as we normally do once a month. During the cooking process, the young lady across from us noticed that a fly or some type of bug was cooked with the rice.. as people do, we passed that fork around our table and notified the cook and the waitress. What's sad it that it took over 25 minutes to come to our table to deal with the issue.... Why?... the manager was also the bartender and was to busy to come to us.... After finally dealing with the issue, we paid for our drinks and left all the food.... After many years of coming to eat here, this is by far the worst experience... I can't say for sure if we would ever come back to this place.... Maybe I should stick to the other franchise of Tepan.... It wasn't that a bug was found in the food, I'm sure this happens everywhere....it was a lack of responsibility from the staff to deal with the problem...

Place is great all around. Chefs are hilarious and entertaining , staff is all accommodating and polite. And above all else the food is delicious. It's a bit on the pricey side but really what isn't these days in regards to eating out ? I can't stop laughing at the yelp elite dude who knocked a star lol. Life of the party I am sure.

Service was great but the food was a little cold. The ambiance is nice and the establishment is clean. I would give it another chance. It was a busy evening so it's likely due to that.

We came in on a Thursday and I was a bit surprised it wasn't packed. We got our favorite chef, I don't know his name but he keeps saying "Helllooo" The food was amazing and cooked to perfection l! I recommend coming here!!!!

The steak is really really good. Rudy was very nice and was AMAZING at those awesome tricks! He made my birthday 10 times better! Everybody else there was really nice. I got a bit scared with the knives/ kitchen equipment/ fire though. But it sometimes can be a bit loud but that's ok, it's really no big deal. It's loud here all the time. Good food great service. The show was okay, we went late right before closing so i can understand he was tired but he didnt do the usual jokes and tricks we we're expecting. We had kids in our party so we thought it would be a great habachi show for them but is was 7/10

The service was nice however the table we sat was greasy, they have us squeezed together next to one another. The place looks old and worn down also the plates and bowls are chipped and scratched plastic. The fried rice was very wet, as for the chef he was nice but only paid attention to the other party since they were friends. Which is fine but everything was geared towards them even though it was my friends birthday. Sadly I used to go here years ago but I won't be returning. I had a stomach issue the following day

All was good here; food, service and entertainment was great. It just took a long time to get appetizers and drinks prior to the meal. It was very busy either, not sure why the service lagged a bit. All in all it was a good birthday dinner. Allow yourself some time and patience, I wouldn't recommend this place if you have somewhere to be prior, a show or movies.

Way better than Benihana Our cook, Rudy was great and he played with my son and my son enjoyed. Meat quality is also better than Benihana. Servers were very kind and their service was fast. This place will be our goto teppanyaki place from now.

Early birthday celebration with family tonight. We got steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, yakisoba and fried rice tepanyaki dinner! Everything was just well seasoned and cooked. The chef was so fun and lively I felt bad I didn't get his name to give him credit. He was good and he put on a good show! It was a fun night! This is a very good tepanyaki place I highly recommend.

Chef Rudy made by birthday extra special!! He's a great showman and food was very good. Our party had a mix of pretty much every protein and all were really good. We will certainly be back as this was our first time.

I'm glad we found a new teppan grill place! With good sushi too! My family enjoyed the dinner and the show for my mother in laws birthday, good drinks, appetizers, service and the chefs are fun and knowledgeable. Loved the steak and shrimp combo with the fried rice

Food was good! We were a party of 10 with no complaints on food however we waited quite a bit for our cook to come over and the place didn't seem to be too busy.

Went to celebrate Mother's Day, and our party of 12 was treated so well by the server and the chef. We thoroughly enjoyed the chef's performance, as well as the food. Thank you for taking our reservation during a busy celebration day, and for the excellent service. We will be back...

Only had the sushi here and it's amazing will definitely be back for more sushi they're unique and also their hibachi.

Went for dinner for my mom's birthday. I forget the name of the chef but he was hilarious and really put on a show for my kids. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked really well. We were all very happy with the experience and the food! We ordered everything from apps, to sushi, to combo grilled dinners. Loved all of it!

My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday around 5:00. There was no wait and we sat down right away for teppan. There was another family with us. We had very attentive service from the server and chef. Our chef was super entertaining and kept us laughing. I got the filet and it was delicious! Cooked perfectly. We also shared the edamame as an appetizer. It was pretty quiet for a Friday but it was still early. Overall it was a fun experience.

Celebrated my mom's birthday with the whole family. Great experience. We had a lot of fun! Chef Alex (Alejandro) was such a delight! His skills and jokes were on point. We had a really great time. We will definitely be back! Next time I'll remind my mom to request "no carrots" (she just doesn't like them).

We came to celebrate my parents' anniversary dinner and our waitress did not smile a single time, it truly seemed like she did not want to be here. I recognize that some workers may have personal things in their life that affect their ability to work, but it was not the energy I was hoping for in celebration of my parents. HOWEVERRRR the man who saved the day was our chef Alberto!!! He was literally HILARIOUS!!! I hope the manager knows how valuable of an employee he is because he single handedly improved our mood and made up for the waitress' lack of care. Alberto is not only an amazing chef, but is truly naturally funny and had the best jokes! I would honestly come back just to have a good laugh with him. I'm very grateful we had him as our chef. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, I ordered the dragon roll and it was delicious. Despite the rough start, it was an overall enjoyable experience and I would return!

I lived near this place for years, but only visited the other night for a friends Birthday dinner. Dang it...I missed out!! The atmosphere inside was poppin', a fun place, with several birthday parties going on. We were seated right away, got our orders in and were soon being entertained by our crazy chef! This guy really put on a show and had us all cracking up laughing...a great digestive aid! The appetizer salad had the best dressing...gingery-soy-miso-lemon flavored and the soup was delicious as well. I had the ribeye, fried rice and veg (he threw in a couple shrimp for me too) and my ribeye was so juicy, tender and perfect. The side sauces are really nice for dipping, one is a pink mayo-based and the other is like a brown sauce with ginger. Add some hot sake into the mix and you'll be feeling fiiine! Our servers stored a whole cake for us in the refridge and brought it out for us when we were ready, as well as a cake cutter, plates and silver. We sang in our loudest voices for the birthday girl and had a lovely time! I'd definitely recommend Shima for groups and celebrations, as they really know how to make it a party!

Bomb Food! def recommend this place. Highly encourage to give this place a try for sure.
