This location is located next to Rainbow Drive inn, and has its own parking lot which is much easier than the original location on school street which only has like 3 street parking stalls.
It's still my favorite shave ice on the island, its the right fineness of the ice that is not packed too tightly, and the flavor of the syrup that's poured correctly all the way thru to the bottom.
I always get ice cream on the bottom and 2 fruit flavors. If you get more than 2 flavors, they get muddled and all you taste is sweet without the individual flavors. I like fruit flavors with ice cream on the bottom because when you get to the bottom it creates a cream flavor. So strawberry and cream or mango and cream or coconut and cream, ect.
The sizes here are bigger than normal. Trust me just get a small or even a kids size. Do NOT get a large unless you're gonna share with like 4 people! Seriously! You could maybe split a small between 2 people if you're a small eater, but its so good you'll want your own, at least I do.
This time I got strawberry and a new flavor Ube cream. I always get strawberry and other flavor; The strawberry was good as usual, the ube cream wasn't as sweet, so I didn't care for it too much until I got to the ice cream on the bottom. When it mixed with the ice cream on the bottom it became sweeter and more creamy which I liked.
Some of my classic combinations are strawberry and banana, strawberry and coconut, both with ice cream on the bottom of course. You might also try the haupia (coconut) cream topping just for something unique.
The only draw back is now its only a one man show, one guy takes your order, then makes it. So its one customer at a time, guess the effect of rising labor cost or rent. So the line can be long and slow so just be patient. I hear its the same at the original location too.
How to order, think of it in order of how they make it.
1. Order the size (and how many) and if you want ice cream on the bottom.
2. After they shave the ice into the bowl. pick your flavors and toppings.
3. Then pay after
They accept credit cards now, though they still prefer cash.
