Other reviewers aren't kidding when they say that the staff gets serious about closing time. Though they were friendly about it, various team members came by our table every few minutes to remind us that it was "last call" and that they were closing soon. This was punctuated by the staff loudly and hurriedly bussing tables around us - and it was only 8:30 pm on a Saturday when they're open until 9 pm. It was kind of funny since I expected it. Had I not known, I might have thought it was rude.
That aside, the location is really pretty. We sat on the patio around sunset and we were comfortable and warm. The sunshades interfered with our view of the ocean, but the patio itself was pleasant. Additionally, we were seated right away, thanks to making a 7:30 pm reservation in advance.
They suggest you scan a QR code to see the menu, but it's a little awkward. They do have physical menus but you have to ask for one. I'd recommend doing so. The menu is vast and it's much easier to see all they have to offer with a physical menu.
We were greeted by our server fairly quickly. He was clearly slammed, but he managed to take our drink and appetizer orders right away. Between the four of us, we had two Sapporos, a sake sampler, a glass of chardonnay, some gyoza and some garlic edamame. The drinks were great and the gyoza got good reviews from the other couple in our party. However, the garlic edamame was soggy and messy. I'd skip it if I had known.
We ordered a variety of sashimi, nigiri, a specialty roll (Tuna Wasabi Roll), and some vegetable tempura - which came out with shrimp in it. Since no one had a shrimp allergy, we didn't send it back - but it's something to keep an eye on if you do have a food allergy.
Everyone enjoyed their meals. The fish was fresh, though a bit on the small side for the price. I especially noticed this with the salmon nigiri. The Tuna Wasabi Roll was a winner. My husband's chirashi was good, but it was packed in a dish that resembled a poke bowl. It was kind of a weird presentation. Plus, as with the sake sampler, it would have been nice to get a quick description of what was in front of him, but the server was really swamped.
TLDR: Was it the best tasting sushi I've ever had? No. However, it was pretty good. The food and drinks were tasty, even if on the small side, and the staff was rushed but friendly. The ambiance was pleasing and comfortable. All things considered, including the price, this would be a nice place for a special occasion but I wouldn't consider it a regular go-to place for great sushi.
