LA Restaurants With Drive-Thrus And Curbside Pick-Up - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The words “Drive-Thru Ramen Window” might seem like they were ripped from Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, but guess what? That movie was set in 2019, and this Torrance-based to-go operation is here to stay. All you need to do is download the Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO App, head to their Gardena storefront, and then pull up to the window for bowls of rich Satsuma ramen, beef curry udon, and pork cutlets over rice. Enhance that, Deckard." - kat hong, brett keating

The Best Japanese Food In The South Bay - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Build-your-own ramen is a concept that might sound gimmicky, but at Shin-Sen-Gumi, it really works. The ramen here is among some of the best around. By build-your-own, we don’t just mean you get to throw a few green onions on top. From the thickness of the noodles to the richness of the broth, you can customize your bowl to any degree you want, and that’s the kind of power that keeps people lining up. There are a few locations scattered around the city from Gardena to Downtown LA, but if you’re in the car and in a rush, head to their Western Ave. location where you’ll find a drive-through ramen set-up filled with rich Satsuma ramen, beef curry udon, and pork cutlets over rice." - kat hong

I stopped by this place for a quick lunch, the sushi wrap is pretty interesting, there are a lot of different options. The guy was very nice and helpful. I got the combo with the rice sandwich and the spicy Hakata. It was nice to eat it outdoors. The rice sandwich tasted good, a little smaller than I expected. But the ramen was really just so so. It didn't taste like fresh soup more like a premade frozen type. The noodle amount was very small too.

Google
Honestly I was extremely disappointed in the food. I have had shin sen gumi in Irvine and the food is amazing! I know that other locations are equally as good so I thought this place would be perfect since it’s 1) local to me and 2) a to go location for convenience. Unfortunately the broth lacked flavor and the body of it was just not what I have always experienced at the other locations. The Sam’s club tonkatsu ramens seem to have more flavor than what I ate here. I don’t usually send bad reviews but this was honestly so underwhelming that I hope to help anyone else who has also went into the restaurant with a great experience and wanting to try this to-go location. Service was okay and the location is great for outside dining. Just overall not a great experience to ever return.

Google
It's a small place and the menu is different now from before. Check their website not the pictures here. The taste wasn't there, bland. Did not finish. The sauce wasn't portioned correctly and was just a ball in the middle. Same as my friend's ume one; the ume was just one big thing in the middle instead of spread out. The order machine was in an odd place and the people that worked there seemed almost scared of us and avoided eye contact. I wouldn't want the open window while I'm working either.

Google
Unfortunately this location is take out only. There is no seating here although they could’ve added a table or two. You may want to reconsider eating here, however as the atmosphere is somewhat cluttered and dingy. The ramen was very good when enjoying it in the comfort of your home. I would recommend it as takeout only.

Google
Really cute spot in downtown anaheim and their prices were great. My pork katsu curry was $11.50 and it was $9 for the chicken kaarage. Food was ready quickly but there is only outside seating and no heating so not ideal during the winter. I would definitely recommend going and checking this place out.

Google
I love this place I come almost every weekend. I usually get the beef curry and when they have yakitori I always have to add some skewers. Chicken skin, cartilage, thigh with negi, meatball, liver, pork belly, shrimp. It's all good paired with a Premium Malts or Orion beer.

This place is cool ! Nice people , and the service is good a different option of food .

Yelp
Quite impressed with this place. A small stand only meant for to-go orders but the inside furnishings and outside signages draw customers' attention. I was in an industry event nearby and my coworkers and I saw this place packed with people lining up outside the store. Got us curious, and I personally loved the black and gold motif - we made sure to check what the hype was all about :) Great ramen, and will definitely make sure to come back for the rice sandwiches.

Yelp
Grabbed a chashu mayo rice sandwich while shopping a street market and it really hit the spot! For $5, it's the perfect size if you're hungry but not hungry enough for a full meal. They were pretty quick, I ordered through a tablet mounted on the wall. I think it could have been clearer that there was no one manning the register. This is really a take out only spot - no inside seating.

Yelp
Imagine paying almost $20 for a tuna mayo curry bowl and receiving 2 teaspoons worth of tuna. It doesn't even come close to the advertised amount.

Yelp
Their sausage rice sandwich is good. Service is very friendly too. A bit hot inside, but it's only for to go

Yelp
I have such fond memories of Shen shin gumi in Fountain Valley but realized this is Shin sen gumi. Instead of letting down my ramen expectations I got a cha shu rice sandwich. It wasn't very flavorful but it is very convenient for a snack before going into the rink. Sweet omelet was not overly sweet and a nice balance to the saltiness of the seaweed & underwhelming taste of the cha shu. All in all ok.

Yelp
Haiku: Shin Sen Gumi 2Go Handheld, on-the-go All sorts of rice sandwiches Perfect for picnics. --- Who knew rice sandwiches existed? This is essentially an onigiri with a sweet egg, but in sandwich form. I got the Unagi, a grilled eel polished with a sweet soy glaze and fresh with a shiso leaf and sweet egg omelet. I also got the Chashu Pork. Although it had great taste from the crunchy chili oil, the chashu was lacking in presence and wish there was more. I'd like to see the protein items to be a little bit more substantial. I was disappointed that they don't carry yakitori items anymore. However, they just started carrying ramen again. I love SSG Hakata ramen, so I'll have to come back to this location and try it.

Yelp
I'd been craving curry, so I decided to give this place a try even though they're more known for their ramen. I got the Curry Rice with Karaage and was really impressed. I ordered it at spicy level 5, and the curry was so flavorful with quite a kick without being overwhelming. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, making it a great complement to the rich curry. I loved dipping the chicken into the curry sauce! The portion was generous making it a satisfying meal. I ordered online and was able to pick up my food within 10 minutes. I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu. If you're a fan of Japanese curry, this is a solid choice.

Yelp
Nice cool day in December to have some ramen. I've always been a fan of Shinsengumi and love the location in Fountain Valley. Since this one is closer to me, I was stoked and want to try. Parking is not hard to find, there is a parking structure nearby. Upon arriving, the shop reminds me of a stall-like feel but in a shopfront. Many photos on the menu and a handful of selections available. I had to order the Hakata Ramen and I had also gotten the Katsu Rice Sandwich (kind of like a Musubi with more umami). Gotten the food to-go. When I got to eat the ramen almost 2 hours later, it was still warm but I had heat it up because i like it just a bit warmer. It was delicious but I do prefer eating it at the restaurant much more. Did not get much interaction with the staff but everything was easy and smooth. Would come back again if I am craving ramen, but I would much prefer the restaurant version.

Yelp
I recently tried this ramen spot for the first time after receiving a gift card over the holidays. The location is super convenient in downtown Anaheim, with lots of street and garage parking available. The vibe is casual, and while you order to go, there are outdoor tables where you can enjoy your meal al fresco. We went with the original hakata ramen, which came with chashu (sliced pork) and scallions. You can add extras like eggs or bean sprouts. The portion was a bit smaller than expected and the noodles were more on the al dente side but the broth and chashu had good flavor. We also tried the chashu, karaage and tuna mayo "sushi" sandwiches, last two recommended by the cashier. The tuna mayo was my personal favorite - it had a nice, creamy flavor. The karaage was also good, with a piece of tender chicken. They also offer Japanese curries with rice. Overall, a solid spot for a quick bite.

Yelp
Their menu has limited items now. No ramen or anything else but music is and a few appetizers.

Yelp
TL; DR - worth a try especially if you like spam musubis. Their rice sandwiches are a close cousin. Definitely going to miss their katsu curry, but their new concept of rice sandwiches fits the 2GO vibe. Saw that they changed their menu and thought it was an April Fools joke... but it wasn't. Came the first weekend of the change to check it out and wasn't disappointed. Rice sandwiches are room temperature and prepackaged. More reminiscent of to go foods in Japan. Tuna Mayo - filling was tuna mayo with cucumber, spam, and tamago. Light and refreshing. Mentai - filling was spicy roe with cucumber, spam, and egg. Nice kick and briny taste. Chashu- filling was chopped up chashu. Our least favorite since the room temperature pork texture was not for us.

Yelp
Staff (4/5): helpful describing the difference between Spicy Hakata Ramen and Spicy Dandan Men. Slow service but luckily only one group of 4 ahead of us. Food (3/5) definitely spicy enough, some other flavor notes, a different thinner noodle with a texture that I didn't appreciate as much as other ramens. Thinly sliced meat is well cooked. You have to pay extra for any toppings and the choices are limited. At least the broth was piping hot. And the fried gyoza we added was pretty good, crispy. Ambience (3/5) clean, tiny, definitely a to-go spot, with a few outdoor benches. Cold on a 50-degree breezy evening. Not much warmer inside. They'll text you when your food is ready if you feel like walking around to jeep warm.

Yelp
THIS LOCATION IS A TO GO SPOT! Meaning all the food is served in plastic. The ramen was overpriced with very small portions and no fix ins. We got the hakata ($12) and spicy hakata ramen ($14). There are chairs and tables outside that are first come, first serve. Unless you are really craving ramen or in a hurry to get ramen, I would pass on this location.

Yelp
The kids liked the musubi's. I had the karaage chicken. I felt like I've had better but it's a nice place to for a snack and it satisfied my kids especially because the bakery we wanted to go was closed that day.

Yelp

Yelp
Amazing. Cheap easy always ready to go option. My personal favorite the tuna mayo!!! Service is quick. If you prefer not to talk they have an iPad. Walk in and out good experience

Yelp
Wow I don't normally leave reviews for places but this place DESERVES a review!!! The service was awesome, he was friendly and was patient with us ordering. The place was well kept and clean and they were stocked on condiments and utensils. They also had water and cups out which I thought was nice. The prices were awesome too, only 3-5$ for the little wraps!! My friend got the A5 Wagyu and the unagi. I got the tonkatsu and karaage. It did take a bit of time for our orders but they were made to order. Each was freshly made and hot when we got it. But it was all worth the wait. The rice was super soft and fluffy, and the egg inside was sweet and complimented the meats amazingly!! The meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned as well. I love tonkatsu and it was just perfectly made. I was saying mmmm with every bite!! Definitely will be coming back very soon!! :)

Yelp
Pretty good for a quick bite. The cashier was super friendly. Lots of seating outside. I liked the spam a lot more than I liked the shrimp. I would come back.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around lunchtime. Took over 40 mins for seaweed sandwiches. It was a shitshow. Two employees working and neither were confident when I would get my order. Stars off for lack of communication and poor service. Also saw one worker touching food with bare hands. Food was fine. Kinda overpriced for non sandwich items. Sour plum was quite sour. Generous size for sandwiches.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
I can see the vision and if it was well executed consistently it would be a pretty decent place to grab a quick bite from. We got the karaage and Katsu options. The katsu was fresh so it was crispy, warm, delicious. The karaage was older so it was soggy, cold, mediocre :( Wanted to love it all but only just liked the katsu one. The lady who took our order and prepped the food was the same person. I think because they weren't super busy, so would probably be losing money if they staffed one cashier and one cook. Perhaps visiting on a busy day and getting freshly made to order ones would have a better outcome (:

Yelp
I would like to say I am a huge Shin Sen Gumi fan overall, I visit many of the different locations... which is what makes this review hard to write because their ramen and yakitori are always outstanding. This location has sadly decided to not offer ramen (except the frozen take home) or yakitori to go any longer. They are only offering these "sandwiches" which are rice cabbage or lettuce, a filling and a piece of tamago (sweet omelet). I had the ebi fry and the Niku Miso. The ebi fry was ok, was 2 tempura shrimp with rice, cabbage and the omelet. First, they make them ahead so the nori is soggy and the shrimp not crisp. I did eat the whole thing of that one. The more egregious was the Niku Miso. First, there was barely a smear of the miso ground beef (see picture I added) , a wilted piece of lettuce, and the rice and seaweed. Again the seaweed was soggy because they are made ahead. I actually took one bite and threw the rest away when I saw how little meat was in it. I have no incentive to try any of the others including the $24 waygu. Now I will also say that Center St in Anaheim is a challenging place for any restaurant to be. Unless there is an event here there is no foot traffic compared with the Packing House, so if the owner is trying just to stay alive by lowering his overhead I totally get it. But if you are going to limit your menu to such a small selection it needs to be on point or why go there. The guy behind the counter who took the order was nice and he did say they will probably do the skewers when there are events on Center St but other than that not doing them anymore. I really hope they change their mind on the menu as it was nice having once so close in Anaheim. But as for the current offerings I won't be going back
google avatar

Ada L.

Yelp
I did a mobile order for a sausage, tuna mayo, karaage, and ebi fry. The tuna and sausage was enjoyable; however the karaage and ebi fry was not fresh. All rice rolls are served cold - seems like it was premade and left out. The ebi fry or karaage was not crispy so it is not something I would want to eat unless packing for a picnic that I'm having later. The karaage tastes like teriyaki. For the price it is okay! However I will stick to things that can be enjoyed eaten cold

Yelp
Ramen that's only to go? Gave it a try since shin sen gumi in fountain valley is like my favorite place ever. For sharing the same name, it doesn't really share the same taste. It's more like a second cousin instead of a sister restaurant. The noodles seem to be similar but I would love to be able to choose firm as you do at the other location. I got the roasted garlic and the broth was quite flavorful with a clean taste. There are some topping missing like the ginger and the boiled egg is quite literally a 10 minute boiled egg that isn't marinated or or soft boiled at all. Verdict: It's not the same, but it's not bad. For convenience? I might give them a second chance and come back for their standard $12.50 hakata ramen and make sure to add ginger Food: 7/10 Value: 5/10
google avatar

Yelp
These sandwiches remind me of a deconstructed, fancy spam Musubi. Price ranging from $4-6 depending on the toppings- the food overall is good- we ordered the egg and spam, spicy tuna, sausages and everything was pretty tasty! Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
Perfect for a quick ramen fix! We originally were in the area for the nearby bakery, but got hungry as we were waiting in the long line. This spot was conveniently located a couple stores down! You order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. I got their new Spicy Satsuma Ramen and was pleasantly surprised! I didn't really expect much, but it was SO delicious. The broth was absolute perfection with spicy and garlic-y notes. It also came with a side of dried onions to sprinkle on top which made for the perfect garnish. The portion size is on the smaller side. Will definitely dive into their yakitori menu the next time I'm here!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
The food is always good and the staff is always so kind. Be sure to come on yakitori days. One of the few places that offer chicken skin and cartilage skewers. I always get a set of 4 skewers with those 2 and pork belly and tsukune.

Yelp
Been here two times. I walked by saw their rice sandwich menu and thought it looked very Hawaiian influenced (seaweed and spam) and Japanese comfort snack food. I have never been to either state or country but this I had to try to get the possible vibe of those places. I ended up ordering the Chicken Karage rice sandwich and it was very good. Best to go in the morning when they open because it is warmer. It's supposed to be served room temp. But i loved my sandwich and it was a great quick bite for only 6.19$ ! Great deal to me. I have had karaage at a lot of restaurants but shin-sen-gumi seems to be the only one that marinades theirs and fry's it which tastes very good. Basically, they make the best in my opinion. They do wrap these sandwiches in plastic so your fried karaage will loose the crisp but not soggy. If you visit their traditional restaurant of course it won't be like that. If you don't like tamago sushi, you're probably not going to like it because they make a giant tamago layer with your other protein. Wish this place was closer. I enjoyed the concept ! wish they would wrap this with a small plate but I understand they may want to limit waste.

J O.

Yelp
Great omusubi! There's no ample parking so had to park into public parking which took extra time for just picking up. But we enjoyed the food!

Yelp
This location was my go to place for ramen and yakitori and I was very sad to hear they got rid of both from their menu as well as almost everything else. As another person mention, I really thought it was an April Fools joke initially. Or at least hoped. However, I wanted to give the rice sandwiches a fair chance and went today to grab one for dinner. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. I ordered the Chashu Sandwich. The portion size was kinda small, but fairly priced. The flavors were ok. There wasn't enough chopped chashu to really compete with the flavors of the rice and egg. Maybe another sandwich would have been different, but this didn't do it for me. I used to crave the ramen here, and would visit Center Street just to go to Shin-Sen-Gumi. I'm not sure I can say the same now. If I'm at Center Street for an event, I might try it again. But I don't see myself going out of my way to visit anymore. Hopefully they will consider bringing back some ramen in addition to the sandwiches. As of today, the sign outside the building still says ramen and yakitori. Maybe there's hope.

Juliana C.

Yelp
I usually go for their Yakitori, I didn't know they don't serve Yakitori anymore as of a year ago. I ended up leaving because that's the only thing I was craving for.

Yelp
Bomb af ume shisho. Excellent service. There was no line at 4:23 on a Wednesday. Highly recommend

Yelp
Much like alcohol, browsing menus while hungry definitely impairs your judgement... or lack of. I was walking back to my car after getting my haircut and needed to eat lunch before I went riding. Shin Sen Gumi (SSG) was on the way back to my car. While I skimmed the menu, the magic words popped out at me, "BEEF BOWL" so I figured why not use this as an excuse to grab some lunch? Well, against my better judgement, I went for their spicy chashu bowl instead. I mean, I've had great chashu bowls elsewhere, like from Daikokuya and Santouka, so it has to be good, right? WRONG. So wrong. I knew I should've just stuck with my original choice. I seriously contemplated going back and asking if I could get something else, but I'm not really a confrontational type of guy and the whole situation would just be really awkward and uncomfortable so I sucked it up and took the L. First off, it's just a tiny little image of the rice bowl, no description. It comes with an onsen tamago which I absolutely hate the texture of. On top of that, it was cold, so it was like eating slimy cold goopy egg white mixed in with some generic spicy red sauce and mayonnaise. Had I known it came with the egg, I would've gotten a beef bowl instead. What a waste of money. In all honesty, I'm not a fan of SSG in general. Their ramen noodles are too thin and they nickel and dime you for every add-on. Their menu overall is just insanely overpriced for what they offer. The only good Shin Sen Gumi was the lunch buffet in Monterey Park before COVID shut them down. That place was EXCELLENT value and the staff there was the best. Today was my 2nd and last visit for sure. Hard pass.

Yelp
I had lunch at Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO. The place is clean and tiny, definitely designed as a to-go spot with a few outdoor benches available. Since it's primarily a takeout place, dine-in options are not available. I was expecting the usual Shin-Sen-Gumi style, but it was different from what I'm used to. I ordered their karaage sandwich, and it was just alright. Overall, I prefer the experience and offerings at their other locations.

Yelp
Came here on a whim before we were to drive back to our home town. Both of us got the Japanese curry. I got the fried pork. We shared a Calpico. I'm not going to lie, we were on vacation. I wanted to to a sit down place and have one last fancy meal before we drive home. When I initially looked down at my to-go order, I felt a little let down at first. Then we started eating, and well. Whatever feelings of regret I had were quickly swept away. The katsu was perfectly crispy and and juicy. The pickled veggies paired well with the thick curry sauce that coated everything in a delightful way. My partner was also having the best time with his meal. He told me Japanese curry is actually one of his favorites. He hadn't had Japanese curry since the Curry House shut down in Little Tokyo. So, in the end, we had a wonderful conclusion to our vacation. The service was good. We got our food pretty quickly considering they were near closing, and the food came out great! Will come again if we are in the area again!

Yelp
Came here and twice and I really enjoyed it. I have always been to the regular Shin Sen Gumi but this is a little different because it is quick service. They have outdoor seating only. There is plenty of seating since it is located on Center St where all the restaurants are. I will have to say that prices are on the pricier side but worth it. We ordered 2 Hakata Ramens. One we added toppings: extra chasu, flavored egg, fried onion, and garlic chip. All the toppings are extra so keep that in mind. We also ordered a side of Tsukune skewer for $14. It comes with 4 skewers. These are my favorite. If you are feeling under the weather, this is the place to be. The broth is great when you are sick or for a cold, winter day.

Yelp
My very fist spicy noodle, City of Anaheim has a great Promenade...EV Charging and all sorts of shops. The service was good being my fist time the offered suggestions and was patient. I chose to eat in my car because of the cold weather outside hence hot spicy noodles...lol the do offer outside dining if that's your thing and they have a YELP check in offer so be sure to check in before you order....Bon Appétit YELPERS!

Yelp
We had a craving for Ramen, and I've been to a few of the Shinsengumi's, and we were in Anaheim looked up to see where the closest one was and surprise there was this one. I didn't know what to expect until we got there. I didn't realize it was a little small establishment that you ordered your food to go or that you could have it. there on the outside patio. And it's very clean inside but for your first time there, it's a little different than the other establishments, and the girl behind the counter was not very helpful. I can barely hear her, so I proceeded to order we only had to wait maybe about 10 minutes maybe 15 we sat outside. They called our name we received our food , everything look great I've always liked Shinsengumi Ramen, especially the broth, but I did forget how skinny and tiny the noodles are, and I think that's the reason why I stopped going in the first place and found another Ramen Place,Ramen was good. The rest of the food was pretty good. The area that it's located in is very nice Lots of restaurants dessert places tea, houses it's in a great location

I order online for the buy 1 get 1 hakata ramen and when I open it, both of them has no meat. I thought it was suppose to be like that so I checked the description in postmate and it said the food was suppose to come with 2 slices of chashu. And since my order has 2 bowl, I was suppose to have 4 slices. Pretty disappointing since I spent 30 minutes drive to get the food. If they are doing this because it's a buy one get one, maybe don't include the hakata ramen in the buy one get one section.

Yelp
Great friendly customer service. I was very skeptical about a rice shrimp sandwich. After the first bite, I decided to become a regular! Please give this place a try! The sandwich was flavorful and thoughtfully assembled. It was not messy or dry. The cabbage was crunchy with well-balanced flavors that complimented the shrimp, egg, seaweed, and rice. They are served cold which is nice in warm weather. These are so good I will eat them all year long. The sandwich was absolutely delicious!!! I also ordered a cup of chicken soup. What a fabulous, full-bodied broth with veggies and chicken meatballs. I was absolutely stuffed from the sandwich but thoroughly enjoyed a few sips of soup. I will have the soup for dinner. Portions are not large but moderately sized. The prices are low for the high quality of food. In my opinion, it is an inexpensive meal for those on a budget who care about quality. Thanks for a great lunch and dinner! I will be back!

Yelp
I tried the limited time special A5 wagyu, unagi, tonkatsu, and sausage. They're about hand sized. A bunch of them are premade in the store so you can eat it fast. The owner is also very nice :)

Yelp
Be careful when you order here. I didn't leave a tip and when I was looking at my receipt later I saw that the guy had added a tip to my order. Be aware of what you pay.

Yelp
After a long phenomenal day at Disneyland, we were craving some warm tasty ramen to heat ourselves back up. The mediocre rating for this establishment feels spot on. For the amount of competition in SoCal, their broth and flavors just feel lacking to me. However, their easy to use to-go ordering system, plentiful menu options, proficient food packaging and late night hours grant them an extra star

Yelp
I generally don't like the Ramen from Shin Sen Gumi that much. I like the broth just not their thin noodles. After years of ramen eating. I still prefer the offerings from Santouka. How we ended up eating here was actually out of convenience. We were taking a break from Disneyland since my kid was cranky from walking all day and needed to nap in the car for an hour, we decided to grab a bit to eat without the crazy Disney prices. My wife decided on Craft which is right next door, upon arrival, the wait was ridiculous and we needed to be done before the fireworks so Shin Sen Gumi it was. This "2GO" system doesn't make it great, the eggs that were order for the ramen were cold and came in plastic sauce cups. The extra side of noodles was on a paper tray...the noodles got stuck to the bottom pretty easily so I had to fight to get it out, pretty sure we ate some paper and wax. I was more excited about the yakitori offering since meat on stick is always good. It was mostly good, the meatball one wasn't that good though, it was pretty bland and the sauce it was dipped it was too bitter. Seating was outside since this place is specifically "2GO" there 4-5 tables right outside, a small little deck was built outside so that was a bit less weird with the Crafts' people waiting all around us while we ate. Lastly the do have a speaker outside so you will hear your name being called out, no need to stand right next to their door.

Yelp
Some of the best tasting Ramen we've had in a minute! The spicy miso sauce and the non spicy versions were really good.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and both ordered the fried shrimp curry and was charged $18. We asked why it was $18 when the menu clearly says $11.25. The cashier was trying to explain that the fried shrimp curry is different from the shrimp tempura curry and that's why there is a difference in the price. I asked if he could honor the $11.25 since it wasn't written anywhere on the menu that it's extra. He said "I don't think so..." and proceeds to charge us the full $18. I suggested they update the menu to prevent further confusion for future customers and he said, "I should... but it's hard to communicate with the owner as he is Japanese..." We found out our friend who ordered in front of us got the same item and was charged $12. He then came back and said there was a difference in price to the online items and in store items which doesn't make any further sense... I understand not everything that upper management does gets to the store level, but this experience was handled very unprofessionally. In the end they issued a refund but I am thoroughly disappointed with the customer service here.

Yelp
Picked up a Hakata ramen for dinner. Took less than 10 mins to get my order. The soup and ramen were packaged nicely. The Chashu pieces were kind of tiny. The soup base is very rich and good. Easy to find parking. Definitely will come back again.

Yelp
We drove past this place a few months ago and my husband said his friend told him they have THE BEST ramen, so I have wanted to try it since then. I have now tasted the ramen, and told him not to listen to that guy again. I had the Hakata Ramen, added a flavored egg and green onions. BORING. The broth was OK, but they provided such a small amount it was laughable. The noodles didn't do it for me. I didn't like the texture, or the bland flavor, or honestly, the smell. Chashu was dry and didn't have a good flavor. I jazzed it up with some crispy spicy garlic oil I have at home, and it was edible, but I would never want their ramen again. Also, the egg was hard boiled, which I hate. I love a soft boiled egg with my ramen. Husband had their Spicy Chashu Rice Bowl and THAT I can get behind. He only ate half and I had the rest for lunch the next day. The chashu was shredded and tasted way better than the pieces I had with my ramen. The chili threads definitely packed some heat! There was also cabbage and green onion in this bowl, and I really did enjoy it as a leftover meal. Was hoping to try their Yakitori but it was way too expensive! The entire meal was overpriced in my opinion, but there was no way I was paying $20 for a few skewers of something. Honestly can't say we will have it again, but if we do, rice bowls only. Not my go to ramen place, at all.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I came here, the last time I came was back in January and the food was pretty consistent but I had gone last night with my bf and their hours are pretty inaccurate. They actually close around 9:30pm I believe but we had gotten to spicy hakata ramen with gyozas and shake fries. I also got sides for my ramen which was: spicy tempura bits, flavored egg, seaweed, corn, and crunchy onion. Total came out to 54$ which isn't too bad for 2 ramens and some appetizers but the broth was very salty :|
