"Given the abundance of hotels in Siem Reap , it’s hard to imagine that when the Shinta Mani opened in 2003 there were few—if any—comparable boutique properties in town. It set the bar for those seeking a smaller-scale, personable, and indulgent experience, from the traditional Khmer decor to the cuisine. And like any great hotel, there comes a time for a change. Enter Bill Bensley, the Harvard-educated, Bangkok -based architect and landscape designer behind many of the world’s most arresting properties, who led a two-year total renovation of the place completed in 2012. Using cues from Angkor—columned passages, Buddhist shrines, maps and photos of the temples—Bensley dramatically transformed the Shinta Mani into a contemporary haven with a touch of whimsy, now called Shinta Mani Angkor(the larger Shinta ManiShack resort is across the road). Interiors use a stark palette—white subway-tiled floors and walls; heavy black armoires; charcoal-gray terrazzo partitions; stainless-steel light fixtures—offset by tangerine accents, in a nod to the orange-clad Buddhist monks who meander the temples’ time-worn sandstone structures. From the sugar palm tree–fringed black granite lap pool to the dangling daybeds where you’ll enjoy the decadent breakfast buffet, the Shinta Mani offers just the right mix of drama and comfort."

Amazing stay, amazing staff and amazing food! The hospitality here was a standout for us. The breakfast served each morning is absolutely delicious and so varied. Vathu was so kind each morning at breakfast - he is so helpful and brilliant at what he does. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and kind. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing, and you fall asleep each night with beautiful jungle sounds outside your door. We had the best sleeps of our 6 week trip here! The hotel will arrange an early breakfast to take away, with coffee, if you are visiting Angkor Wat for sunrise.

Incredible hospitality! My husband and I were so happy with our 3 night stay. From the moment we were picked up from the airport to the very last goodbye, Shinta Mani went above and beyond. The property itself is beautiful and well kept. Our room was great with house keeping twice a day. We enjoyed our spa services. The gym could use some improvement in that it’s very tiny and only 1 of the 2 treadmills worked. The food was delicious and the breakfast buffet contained everything you could want and more! The afternoon tea was also lovely. The staff was incredible and literally everyone we walked by greeted us with a smile and offered assistance. Franklin was terrific and assisted us from start to finish! A few other staff members of the many that made our experience wonderful included Grace, Daly, Lena, and server Vatha. We hope to come back one day!

Phenomenal hotel! Stayed for three nights. Breakfast buffet was diverse, lots of fresh mangos and passion fruit and papaya, yogurts, pastries, hot dishes, and even vegan options! Breakfast had a few wonderful a la carte options too. Spa prices were unbeatable. My wife said her massage was very firm and deep. Happy hour 2-for-1 specials. Spacious rooms. Huge soft full body towels. I wish I noticed the slippers the first night...they looked so comfortable! Everything one could ask for in a hotel.

Exceptional hotel with outstanding service We have stayed in many hotels during our travels, but Shinta Mani Angkor truly stands out as one of the best experiences we have ever had. From the very first welcome until the moment of departure, the level of service, warmth and professionalism of the staff was simply outstanding. Every team member made us feel genuinely cared for, always smiling, attentive and helpful without ever being intrusive. The hotel atmosphere is elegant, calm and extremely comfortable - a perfect place to relax after exploring Angkor. The breakfast deserves special mention: beautifully presented, excellent quality, a wide selection and absolutely delicious - one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had. Thank you to the entire Shinta Mani team for making our stay so memorable. We would return anytime and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siem Reap.

My husband and I recently stayed for 4 nights and are looking forward to being able to return. The night we checked in I wasn’t feeling well, having picked up the flu along the way and the staff were so caring. They fixed ginger tea for me and the next morning at breakfast everyone knew I had not felt well (even though they had never seen me before), asked how I was doing and wanted to know if they could do anything to make me feel better. During our stay several staff members initiated very pleasant conversations that went beyond « how was your day » We felt that they truly cared about us as people, not just as hotel guests. They also shared about how the hotel is connected with a nonprofit that provides training in the service field for people from the villages. They were very proud to be graduates of the program. We also took in tours of several of the nearby temples. The hotel arranged our tours with Sam as our tour guide. Sam was very knowledgeable and generous with us, patiently answering our multitude of questions. This trip was one we will remember fondly and have encouraged several of friends to add to their must visit list.

Slightly quieter part of town, which is nice, but not far from stores, restaurants, and markets. Rooms were good, but a little scuffed up. There was some visible wear and tear (scuff marks) on the floors. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean, which is the most important thing, and staff provided great customer service. Breakfast buffet was quite good. Note that their happy hour at the bar does not include everything on the menu - it's only for drinks - their street sign says otherwise. Minor issue, but hopefully they fix it to avoid confusion. Would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at Shinta Mani. The rooms were large and the beds so comfortable. The service in the restaurant was outstanding. All the service staff were professional and friendly. We really appreciated the service by Saven. She was very friendly, always smiling and she made us feel happy with her big smile. Saven is one of the best service staff we have ever had, definitely 5 star service from Saven.

Our stay at Shinta Mani Angkor was truly exceptional — one of those rare hotel experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left. We stayed in one of the pool villas, and the accommodation itself was absolutely gorgeous: beautifully designed, serene, and impeccably maintained. It felt like a private sanctuary — luxurious yet warm, and perfectly suited for a family stay. But what truly set this experience apart was the impeccable service, especially from our butler, Sokha. Sokha is, quite simply, outstanding. Her attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and genuine care were on a level I have rarely experienced anywhere in the world. She seemed to anticipate our needs before we even knew we had them. One moment in particular says everything: my daughter slept through breakfast one morning, and without us asking, Sokha had already prepared a thoughtful takeaway breakfast box so she wouldn’t miss out. It was such a small gesture — and yet it spoke volumes. Every interaction with Sokha was warm, calm, and deeply professional. She made us feel completely looked after, not just as guests, but as people. The ease and confidence with which she handled everything allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our time in Siem Reap. The entire team at Shinta Mani Angkor should be proud, but Sokha is truly a standout and a tremendous asset to the hotel. She embodies the very best of hospitality, and I sincerely hope she is recognised and rewarded for the extraordinary care she brings to her role. We would return in a heartbeat — and when we do, we will be hoping to be looked after by Sokha again. Highly, highly recommended.
