Door County, Wisconsin’s best restaurants | Eater Chicago

"Shiny Moon Cafe, a newish venture from prolific area entrepreneur Angie McMahon (Door County Brewing Co., Hacienda Beer Co.), is already cultivating a following with comforting fare like quiche du jour, Eggs in Purgatory, and duck confit hash with banana peppers. Find it on the second floor of the Fish Creek Market." - Naomi Waxman

My iced vanilla latte was unusually delicious. Homemade quiche - which was the special today was absolutely stunning! Great atmosphere in the second floor shop but I walked down to the water and ate my breakfast in the park. Staff was very friendly! I also kind of wanted to try a cheese scone! Prices were high but that can be expected in door county during high season.

Okay this was so yummy! What a cute place! Mom’s weekend getaway in Fish Creek, and we found this cafe on the last morning! Fast service, and super friendly staff. We felt so welcomed and the vibes were so happy! The food was delicious and fresh. We can’t wait to go back!

My sister and I make an annual trip to Door County. This time, we discovered the fabulous Shiny Moon Cafe. The biscuits are amazing with a delightful, buttery, cheesy flavor. You can tell everything here is made with care. We enjoyed the scones. When we visited, they had lemon/blueberry and cherry/almond. I especially enjoyed the Mexican drip coffee with a splash of oat milk. The prices are beyond reasonable for such wholesome food. Our favorite was the classic breakfast sandwich. The aioli has a bit of a kick to it, but the flavor is divine and complements the sandwich well. We dined in the cafe and took sandwiches to go — both times we were pleased with the sandwich! We also loved the balsamic on the side of mixed greens; it has a hint of sweetness that helps offset the vinegary-tang. There is a variety of seating upstairs and music playing in the background at a comfortable level. The staff is lovely — very kind, thoughtful and quick. Add the Shiny Moon to your must-stop list!

This fantastic hidden gem was amazing. With a small and unique breakfast menu that was bursting with great options and great service! You can’t go wrong at this counter order and sit coffee shop. Craig and I highly recommend stopping in here. We both had the “Eggs in Purgatory” which I enjoyed very much. Not sure about Craig, as he wouldn’t tell me his review. I will definitely bring my wife (Not Craig) here the next time we are in Fish Creek!

This might be the best breakfast in Door County. Delicious and wholesome. We had the farmer's breakfast which had better taste and none of the typical grease. The quiche of the day was unique and delicious. Great coffee too, all in a lovely second floor space overlooking the museum courtyard. Search it out , you'll be glad you did.

My fiancé and I absolutely LOVE this place! Every year our family comes to Door County, and we make it a point to go out of our way and come to breakfast here at least once (more than once if we’re being honest). The food is delicious, the coffee hot and iced well, and there’s always a little salad that comes with your food which feels great. It’s a very cute shop that never fails to delight. The lemon lavender cookie, the cheddar milk biscuits, and the Kalua pork sandwich are our top favorites and must haves. A must stop in Door County! I really love how there’s a 15% gratuity automatically implemented too because that’s what should be the normal anyways, and it makes sure that staff are being properly accommodated at all times. Love it! Kudos to Shiny Moon 🌙

Love this spot Located in the heart of Fish Creek… the perfect place to go to grab a delicious bite, menu items include egg dishes, quiches, cookies, scones and the best coffee around. Service with a smile and on some Saturday mornings you’ll be lucky enough to have some Entertainment from local musicians who have made this cozy spot their gathering place. The owner dishes out delicious meals and it can take a little time for her and the staff to prepare. It’s not fast food it’s food lovingly made just for you! Be patient, enjoy. Know there is 15% gratuity included when you order. I have no problem with that! (It’s not 20% and people are working toward college funds !!! Help them out!) That’s what we do when we come to a small town! Slow down, enjoy the experience. Old school! I love it! Oh… they have added a grab and go cooler this summer! Come grab something to take along on your hike, day at the beach or travels home!

Delicious cheese biscuit fried egg and ham sandwich. Tostada’s real good. Best coffee I’ve had in Wisconsin so far. Service and atmosphere perfect for a snack or full lunch.

Yelp
What a unique little cafe! Great atmosphere! I had the quiche the first time I went and it was delicious. The crust was flaky and it came with a little salad on the side. The next morning I had a biscuit sandwich with ham and an egg on it. It was to die for. Both days I had a large mocha coffee. It was very tasty. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Cute place, upstairs on the Main Street in Fish Creek. Friendly service and great food/coffee.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this coffee shop! I appreciated the sass from the baristas, amazing coffee and breakfast burrito! I only went to this place because one of the local residents recommended it and I will be sure to return!!!

Yelp
Bought two coffees, both were pretty decent. The ginger syrup was a nice unique flavor, one which I have not come across before. Still, I'm not a fan of places which include an automatic tip. I find this mildly irritating so I probably won't return. I believe tipping should be at the discretion of the customer.

Yelp
Limited menu, even for a coffee shop, but the food was delicious. We were there closer to the end of the day so the pastry case was nearly empty, but it looks like they have great goodies if you stop by earlier in the day. Great hidden location and it was nearly empty--plenty of tables to choose from and quick service. They had to go containers easily available if you wanted to take away any leftovers. Soda case (for the non-coffee drinkers who end up in a coffee shop) was also nearly empty--more bare than the pastry case. Not sure if that's the norm or not, but as I mentioned, it was the end of the day.

Yelp
This Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuity changed my life. It was so pillowy but also super dense somehow, literally perfection. The vibe at this cafe was great as well! There was a group of people playing music on guitars in the corner, which was super fun to watch. I also got a ho lavender latte and it was perfect (not too sweet, but still had flavor). Definitely recommend if you're looking to grab breakfast or a coffee in Door County. The staff was also very kind and bubbly.

Yelp
So so cute. Excellent hot and cold brew coffee. Wonderful scones. The breakfast "sandwich" was a whole meal, with a wonderfully fluffy biscuit and delicious toppings, and even a side of greens to go with. Everyone on staff was super nice. Definitely a great place to start your day in Fish Creek.

Yelp
Hidden gem, especially in the off-season when there are only 3-4 places open for breakfast In Fish Creek, rest had quite a wait. Was open on Sunday morning when we stopped even though their sign down below said only open M-F currently. Above the grocery store. Very fresh high quality food and their biscuits and baked goods are amazing. Limited menu since mainly a coffee store but had good choices. You order at the counter, which was nice since we didn't really want to do a full sit down breakfast. The greens with a balsamic and orange dressing that they put on the side of the dishes were something we haven't had before with a breakfast meal but they were really delicious and added healthiness. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Yelp
The coffee drinks and holiday cookies were wonderful. The breakfast sandwich with a home made biscuit and the breakfast tostada special with greens were also delicious.

Yelp
Wow, what a hidden gem! Tucked on the second story of the Fish Creek Market lies this little southern-style breakfast joint that packs a powerful flavor punch. The egg biscuit sandwiches were simply phenomenal. I got the Kalua pork egg biscuit. The biscuit itself was immensely flavorful and the pork was surprisingly juicy. Our whole group left fully satisfied and eager to return. Shiny moon is a new breakfast staple for our crew and we can't wait to return.

Yelp
Very mediocre. $15 bucks for a "skilled" that was just a handful of undercooked veggies, a single egg over top of it, and a small salad. It tasted fine, but won't be coming back.

James K.

Yelp
Excellent! Great service, great cold brew and delicious pastries. Try the blueberry lemon scone.

Yelp
Excellent food and service, owner was a pleasure to meet. Definitely try it out if you're ever in fish creek.

Yelp
Great space: very clean and up to date. Service was excellent. Homemade molasses cookies with vanilla frosting were out of this world. Just the right size too: not too big, not too small.

Yelp
Really nice people, great atmosphere, and delicious roasted red pepper biscuit! All of their other baked goods looked fantastic as well (I almost went back for a chocolate croissant). I'll visit again next time I'm in Door County!
