Yelp
I want to love this place! it's local, it has a reasonable menu, they did a wonderful job renovating the space AND my wife is of Austrian descent. so we love this kind of food. First visit last week we sampled a lot: veal schnitzel, wurst plate, chicken liver and chicken schnitzel. Everything good, but not outstanding. Veal would have been better with mushrooms, as would have the chicken, (yaegerschnitzel), wursts needed something, maybe just a nice roll to put them on, masked potatoes needs gravy, should not have had to have asked for gravy. But food was dedent, service very nice an decided then and there to return. So we went back for happy hour...Friends talked about it and we were excited: nice ambiance, reasonable prices, new business needing business, everyones a winner. Only thing was happy hour was only served at bar, bar had very limited seated and then standing room only, so we weren't going to stand and eat and drink. Yikes, so instead we sat in the main dining room and no longer had option for happy hour. Bummer. Whole restauart dining area was essentially empty and they really should have offered happy hour throughout, but they don't. Respectfully, a mistake. In fact we won't go back for happy hour unless and until they do. Lastly, for dinner wife and I both had the chicken sandwiches, quite the rave lately with Chick A Filet, etc, and we were excited to try them!
Dissapointment!. Breaded and fried, not battered and fried like a Chick A Filet or Popeyes. Definitely not the same. Then the breaded cutlet is smothered in Buffalo Sauce, WAY TOO MUCH!, almost inedible. Very disappointing. And then to finish it off you use blue cheese dressing in combo with the Buffalo Hot Sauce and just not a great combination. Listen folks, I genuinely like your place and really, really want to come back. Just a few favors: Ever so slightly improve the snitzell, with perhaps a simple sauce of mushrooms; make a wurst platter with some nice half buns to eat them with. Definitely batter your chicken sandwich, don't bread it, and use chick a filet or Popeyes type sauce. They're tried and true! All lastly, most importantly, open you whole restaurant to happy hour, keep everyone busy, and we'll stay past six and order more drinks and food at full price and everyone will be happier for it.
By the way, we love your staff!
Good luck!
