This restaurant is nothing special the food is really basic. My margarita was terrible it was clearly a pre made mix. I sent it back and got the special which was something that they actually made it was much better. I don’t ever need to go back here there is nothing special and I can get this food anywhere. I think others feel the same there was only three other tables full.

Tammy R.

Google
Usually get the Asian chicken salad, but tried the Mediterranean steak and artichoke, and it was to die for! I also tried their Drink special of the night margarita with Shipyard blueberry beer, so good! Our waitress was awesome, full of personality and very knowledgeable of the menu. Perfect night for me and my bestie to catch up! And we both had a full meal of leftovers for the next day.

Google
I order to go from here often and not a single thing I've ordered off the menu has disappointed. The ataff is super friendly and it's a cozy atmosphere!

Google
Stopped in during a long drive on vacation. Service was quick and the food was fantastic. Great crispy wings and the blackened haddock tacos were amazing.

Amber C.

Google
Delicious and great presentation. Super nice server. Food came out fast and cooked perfectly.

Google
Excellent service, attentive staff, excellent food. I love their salads. They are very filling.

Google
They do fried foods really well. We had the fried pickles, and they were sooo good! The onion rings were also wonderful. The burger was good, but not quite cooked enough. The older staff was fine, but not friendly. Tom is a shining star server- smiling, quick jokes, and just a great attitude. Strong drinks, large bar area, and a room with pool.

Jennifer S.

Google
I wish I got a chance to review the food but we sat for 26 minutes and not one person made eye contact or greeted us. It was a Saturday night so it was busy but I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. All someone had to do was say they’d be right with us and acknowledge we were there. At least 3 servers saw us and totally ignored us. First time going there and will definitely be my last.

Yelp
Really solid menu! Haven't had anything I dislike so far. The service is good too. I recommend you go here!

Yelp
Food and Service is always outstanding. The Fat Seagull Fish sandwich is one of my favorite menu item. The wings and salads !!!!!

Yelp

Yelp
Clean, friendly. Just a great all-around restaurant. They have an awesome menu; I almost always get the Haddock with a chowder. They have a fun game room on the side too. Their Saturday trivia night is PACKED and super fun. We came in second and got a $25 gift card.
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
Meh. Limited cocktail menu, uninspired food menu. Wings lacked texture and flavor and were small.

Louisa M.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful staff, mix a great drink, and the food is prepared well. Very clean and well taken care of establishment. You will not be disappointed! Go enjoy and tell your friends.

Yelp
Always great! Claudine is the best waitress... the tuna appetizer is the best around. And the fish tacos are always great too. We go almost every week. We are never disappointed.

Yelp
This place has changed over the years as I have been in here many years ago when my brother would play in dart tournaments/games here. I love the dinning room area, its so nice. Looks brand new, colors are great & its roomy. Though I wasn't a big fan of the cushions on the benches up against the wall at the tables, as it was hard to move in & out of the space to let my family get up for the bathroom. As you would moved down & out the cushion would go with you....lol. They have an amazing menu with lots of choices. I ended up going with taco salad which was big & delicious (just like our waitress said when I asked her how it was). Everything was very fresh. My cousin got a salmon burger that looked tasty (I'm not a seafood fan) & he cleared his plate of it. They have the best, homemade onion rings as my Auntie was nice enough to share & I even had a few of my cousin's fries which were the bomb! They even carry one of my favorite vodka flavors...blueberry! We believe our waitress was also the bartender. I'm sure more staff come in later on in the day ( I hope, as it probably gets busier) as we were here for 12:30pm lunch. I never caught her name but she was very knowledgeable with the menu, had patience with us as we all didn't show up @ the same time & once we were all there we took some time deciding on what to eat. She came by several times & never acted annoyed when we still weren't ready. Kudos to her! Thank you!! There also is a small dinning area in the bar section if you choose to sit in that type of environment. Bathroom was very clean, they had a little game section too with a pool table. This restaurant is tucked away in small mall plaza, that doesn't seem very busy. But I have to say they don't have problems since they've been here for many, many years. When I go back I want to try the ham & cheese croissant sandwich!

Yelp
My favorite beer hands down! I would give 5 stars for just the beer. The staff was great, but it took some time for us to get a order placed. Drink order was fast, but food order took some time for a empty pub. The waitress was great, once we ordered. Still the wait for food was a it long... for a empty pub. Food was good, pub food for sure. I had the Steak Tips. Super tinder and full of flavor, they asked how we want them cooked... but then still cook it well done. The amount this give is huge! I had so much food. Mash was great but the presentation not so much. Just thrown on. Veggies could have been left off. They tasted like something from a stir-fry dish. Didn't work with the meal. Other two meals were the captain plate and tacos. The captain plate was huge 6 scallops, 6 shrimp and one piece of haddock plus fried and rings. Haddock was not the best, in fact wasn't even sure if that was haddock. Tacos were great, but coleslaw and chips with salsa could have been rice and beans. Only the tacos were touched. Customers don't like waiting in a empty pub, that's what made me give the 3 stars. One more thing, might want to check the chairs as well, my bf went to sit down and had he attempted to scoot the chair in as he was already sitting on it, the wooden part he was sitting on lifted up as he moved and his finger got smashed in between the wood. He was in so much pain, finger is all bruised.

Yelp
Good food and beer. However the service is reallllly slow. Like annoyingly slow and has been every time I have visited.

Margie S.

Yelp
Great place. Very good menu, something for everyone. Relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Nice outside area in the good weather.
google avatar

Channara P.

Yelp
Good atmosphere and the staff is friendly. They have the best nachos. Ate here a few times and we've always enjoyed the food here. Outdoor seating is nice in the summer. They have pool tables inside, wouldn't be a bad idea to order some apps and play.
google avatar

Lorraine F.

Yelp
Service absolutely sucks!!! Empty drinks...sitting & waiting ...45 min to get food...dishes not cleared from table....waiting for check once finally cleared....Obviously we're done....you didn't offer us dessert or more drinks!!! The check wasn't even right....& I'm not going to correct it st this point!!!

Yelp
I spent the summer working up the street from the Shipyard and was a frequent patron....not because of the stellar service or delicious food (it has neither), but because it was one of the few places open in the area. Frequently needing to order food for 10-12 people for take out service, they refused to assist me in marking the containers or in any way organizing the meals for easy distribution. When I tried to approach the manager about the problem, i left several messages that went unreturned on their answering machine. The same lack of service goes for dine in. The service staff is inattentive and the manager just sits behind the bar. It's because of this poor service that I give them the one star. The food isn't terrible, especially for the neighborhood but if you aren't going to be treated to decent service, what's the point?

David D.

Yelp
The fish for the fish and chips entree was delicious, the French Fries not good, very undercooked . The coleslaw very delicious! The hostess was very friendly and professional.
google avatar

Sheldon W.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't go to the Brew Pub for the food. I just stop in for a few beers after a long day of work. Staff if friendly, food is edible, but really it's the beer that's the best. Good selection of Shipyard favorites on tap, game room with a few pool tables out back. Factoring in that I live pretty much next door and am here so often. I could not justify giving it anything less than 4 stars.
google avatar

Kendra J.

Yelp
Service was good but I definitely wouldn't recommend the turkey club!! The turkey meat was so fatty. The bacon was very under cooked. If I wasn't pressed for time, I would have sent it back. Pulled all the bacon off and some of the turkey. No thanks.

Yelp
I was conflicted on whether to give the Shipyard Brew Pub a try for dinner last night. On one hand several of the guys at the Navy Yard had recommended it as a good place for Happy Hour with decent food. On the other hand the Yelp reviews were hammering it, primarily for poor service. In the end I decided to give it a shot for 2 reason, 1. I really like the Shipyard Beers and 2. I took the recommendation of people I know over those I don't, sorry Yelpers... My coworker and I got to the Pub fairly early, and found the bar to be pretty crowded. Crowded enough in fact that we decided to sit in the dining area, which was completely empty when we first sat down. It did fill up as during our meal. Our waitress, Lindsay, was right over to take our drink order. She was attentive and friendly throughout the dinner. Granted at first we were her only table, making it pretty easy, but she handled us well as the dining area filled up. We had no issues with the service as mentioned in several of the other reviews. For food we split an order of the Nachos with beef chili. The Nacho order was a good size and loaded with toppings. It probably skewed a little to far on the chip to topping ratio which forced us to the forks when we ran out of solid chips. The menu is full of standard pub food. As a Philly Cheesesteak connoisseur I decided to try their steak & cheese sandwich to see how it compared to the cheesesteak I know and love. The sandwich was overflowing with meat and topped with peppers, onions and mushrooms. The flavor of the meat was really good, but hadn't been cooked with the toppings all mixed in distributing the flavor like a cheesesteak. Instead it seemed like the toppings we put on top at the end. Regardless, it was a good sandwich and I was fully satisfied. Finally, it's a brew pub so I had several of their beers. My favorite was the Summer Ale. The Export Ale was also good, while I found the Fuggles IPA to be too hoppy for my tastes. Fuggles was my favorite one to order though ... In conclusion, maybe they've gotten better with their staff, maybe I hit a good night, or maybe Lindsay is a good waitress in a sea of crappy ones. But for me the Shipyard Brew Pub was perfectly fine. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Yelp
After reading the reviews on Yelp I thought "It can't be that bad on service. Who knows maybe its ran by someone else now." If you are having the same thoughts, believe me when I say, the reviews are 100% accurate. The food is really good and of course the beer is great as well. What was leads me to leave a negative review was the service. The server was more interested in talking to some girls at the bar, then being a waiter. I understand sometimes it gets busy in pubs/restaurants sure, but it was not busy at all. To stand there and flirt with the girls for 10+ minutes, without even asking if i'd like another beer or if my fiance would like another water, is annoying at best. Nevermind the people at another table had to go up and ask for more drinks while said waiter was joking around with the patrons at the bar. Well I won't be back, but hey, it looks like I'm not the only one... Good luck, maybe you'll have better luck then the other 6 or 7 other people that left reviews here too. I was expecting a better experience with the Shipyard name on it, and sadly disappointed.

Yelp
Got the stuffed haddock, an export, and an old thumper. Taps were definitely suspect; no carbonation on either beers. As a brew pub I feel this is unacceptable. I informed our server who was apologetic, no attempt to remedy the issue wasted. My opinion: the bartender should have caught this. My haddock came served in a whole casserole of butter. The crab filling was floury and soaked by the butter. The haddock itself was fresh, but invisible in the presentation. As there were issues with the beer, service, and food I would say the root cause is management.

Yelp
The Brew Pub features the fine collection of beer brewed for the Shipyard company of Portland, ME. The beer is always fresh and current with the unique variety of seasonal flavors from the Shipyard. Personal recommendation: Export Ale. The menu is essentially pub food: selection of wraps, sandwiches, burgers and traditional American pub fare. Decently priced: appetizers run anywhere from $4-$10, sandwiches are $7-$9, burgers $6-$8, and steak dinners $15+. The establishment can be hit or miss during happy hour, which is Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm. There may or may not be a crowd in this modestly sized venue. There are several flat-screen TVs for sports fans, although in the absence of a major sporting event the televisions are normally on, but without sound.

Yelp
Was visiting Kittery so decided to try here for lunch. Beer is shipyard (no surprise there) and the place was smallish with an outside area for the warmer weather. It was Me restaurant week so we decided to go for the week specials, bacon wrapped scallops very good, fried clams very good, shrimp scampi ok, strip steak good, deserts very good...the place got quite busy after we came in and there was onloy one waitress/bartendress on duty so she was very busy, even with a table of 8 with separate checks, she did a good job handling the rush, beer was good............
google avatar

Jill G.

Yelp
Cute little place - no complaints at all. The bartender was attentive even though the bar was pretty full of regulars. We got an 8 beer sampler, bar wings with buffalo and the crab dip. The service was quick and attentive. It was just a pit stop for us on our way to Portland from CT but it was a solid little place. Service goes a long way for me and I definitely liked the way we were treated today.

Sam C.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I have tried this place a few times and we're finally feeling done trying. The service on a Saturday night is incredibly poor. The person on the bar is the only wait staff for the tables and it shows; service is SLOW. Besides that we often had waiters walking away before orders were completed and a general air of not caring. When I told the waitress last night that my soda was off, her response was "oh." I was charged for it, fine whatever. But the other half of our table was NOT charged for the sodas they DID enjoy. I'm giving two stars because I believe this issue is really a management issue for the most part and the food is decent. We are pretty easy to please and understanding of crappy service on busy nights, it's to be expected. But this place seems to run on its name alone. We gave it five chances and it hasn't improved. We won't be back.
google avatar

Marcel B.

Yelp
We had the Mediterranean salad with the sirloin tips and they were perfect. As well as a barbecued chicken and brisket combo delicious. Terri was our waitress and she was extremely attentive.
google avatar

Mrs. F.

Yelp
PROS: Affordable dining Ample on site parking Awesome beer selection They offer a beer sampler Bottled craft sodas for teetotalers Trivia games to play while waiting for food Bathrooms accommodate men/women/unisex CONS: Menu not very creative Bottom Line: Why aren't you enjoying yourself on their patio right now?

Cindy F.

Yelp
I go in just about every Tuesday with my kids and the food is great. There is a young girl waitress that doesn't smile much and is not very friendly.
google avatar

Ralph B.

Yelp
Went to the shipyard last night with my wife and good friends. The place was busy. We had appetizers of nachos and fried pickles which both were excellent as well as. Three of us had the fish and chips and they were excellent and my wife had a fish taco which was also very good. The waitress was attentive and the service was quick. It has a great atmosphere with dining on one side and A game room on the other side for younger kids and adults.

Karen G.

Yelp
Visited shipyard before a Bob Marley show. There were 4 of us. Service was very slow. I ordered the baked haddock and it was awful! The fish had a very bad smell ! Definitely something was wrong with it. The waitress did take it off our tab but, that honestly didn't help our experience. Won't be going back, ever!
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
I don't know what happened this place used to be a neighborhood staple. Service is now terrible and food has gone way down hill. Taking this off the list of places to go in a pinch.
google avatar

Daniel K.

Yelp
Started off with the pretzels. They were incredible, the dip compliments the pretzel. I ordered the brisket sandwich it was solid. Great place to eat and relax.

Rori S.

Yelp
This was a weird experience - would give it 3.5 stars if that was possible. First off, the food was good. I had calamari and pasta. I had the Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA to drink. What was weird about this was that this restaurant is apparently owned by Shipyard, but the waitress couldn't tell me anything about the beer (I wanted their most hoppy IPA) Also, I had to ask a few times before getting my beer, and they ran out of menus (weird, eh!)... and many of the items on the menu were no longer available because the menu was old and they had not printed new ones (like I said, weird). Nonetheless, the food was tasty and the waitress was friendly. My guess is that management doesn't have their act together. This could be a great place if it's run well.
google avatar

Garrett H.

Yelp
Ever since the brew pub has changed managers and the kitchen had some changes this place has gone to crap! I used to stop in probably monthly and they would have a fun atmosphere and good food now everything I have had on the past few trips has been terrible. Everything tastes frozen and the service was terrible the last time a group of us went only 4 of us and there were not many people there yet still had to go to the bar and order drinks while our waitress was texting on her phone at the server station. We will not be going back there again and it is to bad because it used to be a great spot to stop while on the way home from work.
google avatar

April G.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! My boyfriend loved his prime rib. It was cooked perfectly and the au jus was delicious. The house green beans with garlic butter are devine and the garlicky red mashed potatoes was great too. The only thing keeping this from a 5* is my "well done" steak tip could have been more well done...keep in mind I like my cow super dead and just under burnt. Otherwise perfection.

Lindsay E.

Yelp
I won't go back to this place. Our group had to clear every glass we ordered when they were empty and also had to go up to the bar and order every drink. Beer wasn't great either. Not a problem, but then the bartender actually had the nerve to comment about the tip being "low" while walking by. Really? Muttering on your way by about a perfectly standard tip? Learn some customer service skills. I won't recommend this place to anyone ever due to the service received on a couple of occasions. It's too bad, because it's a great location. There is no reason to have an additude. Be professional.
google avatar

Don W.

Yelp
I went to the brew pub for a private party and I didn't try any food. The server who worked the room was unfriendly, the atmosphere wasn't particularly interesting, and the beer was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if someone else suggested it, I'd be willing to try it again just in case I was there on an off night.

L D.

Yelp
I am a local and write this in hopes of appealing to the management to step it up and take notice! Have you visited The Rusty Hammer? They have great food and great atmosphere and happy customers. At the brew pub, the chicken fingers are so dry and obviously just out of a deep-freeze they were disgusting. The burger was merely another dry consistency and lacked any flavor or juiciness. Why is this? We are big on supporting local businesses and have been here numerous times but the food sucks and there are flies buzzing around the light fixtures.
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Driving home from a weekend camping trip in Maine we found this place with the AroundMe app and decided to give it a shot considering I have had excellent luck with brew pubs in the past. The atmosphere was pretty standard for a bar, and the tables had Trivial Pursuit sets, which was nice. I was happy to see a decent rotation of Shipyard beers on tap (even though I have never been impressed with any of their beers, but that's a different story), and the price for a pint was soooo cheap compared to prices in Boston. That is likely due from it being in Maine, but I'll give them credit anyways. The food was fine, but for a so-called brew pub I would have liked to see them incorporate the beer into the foods more. Call me crazy, but when I go to a brew pub I expect beer to be the main feature, not just something that is monopolized by the brewery at the tap.
google avatar

Libby H.

Yelp
I was a little wary of this place because of the negative reviews, but am so glad we tried it! Took my husband and parents for a casual dinner. My dad is a huge fan of Shipyard beer and the waitress walked him through a drink sampler - which he loved! I had the fried haddock sandwich and sweet potato fries.... YUM! The perfect portion and well priced. We had four meals and drinks for $60!

Joe G.

Yelp
Service = F; Quality of Food = B+; Beer/Wine Selection = B Service is very poor, like most other reviews here. Servers and bartender were more interested with socializing with customers (friends that came in) or looking at their phones. The only reason this rating is not a 1 is because I find the food to be on par for Brew Pubs - you get what you expect and I like this kind of food.
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
I guess that I was happier than most. Not up to the Kennebunkport location, but the beer was the same and the menu, although more limited, was fine. They didn't need the TVs and the soft rock but kudos for being happy to substitute broccoli for fries. The stout was every bit as good as Guiness.
google avatar

Rlet S.

Yelp
The atmosphere is standard pub. Really slow kitchen. Good food. I had the grilled veggie salad. Nice and fresh. Veggies charcoal grilled. Nice. Spouse had blackened fish. Very good. Fries were good. Generous but not crazy portion. Beer is surely the best part. We were there during a really slow time. Good thing. Waitress was fine.
google avatar

Shayna G.

Yelp
The food is beyond acceptable for 'bar food'. They have an outdoor patio that is more than compatible for the colder nights. The service has been beyond compare both times we have been here! The bar tender was an absolute sweetheart!

Nicole L.

Yelp
My family ate here while on vacation this past week, and it was the worst dining experience we have had in a long time. Our server Jess was incredibly rude. She messed up and put in our orders wrong (mind you, I also have a food allergy) and then rolled her eyes when we asked for the corrected meal. Nothing was cooked well, and half of us got the wrong meal items. When we asked for the correct items she just walked away and sighed and never offered any sort of apology. Once the food did come out, it tasted horrible. I am extremely disappointed in this restaurant and we will never be back. There were no cars in the parking lot when we arrived and if this is typical service, it's very obvious why. If you do go, definitely ask for someone other than Jess. As a previous server myself, her behavior was inexcusable for someone in the service industry, especially given we were her only table. Avoid if you can.

Yelp
Really liked this place a lot! First time visiting and found the service, food and atmosphere very nice. The beer sampler is an awesome deal, eight beers for 9 bucks, your choice. I had the fried haddock sandwich and wanted to order another one, hide in the corner and inhale it! One of the best I have had in a while and I love me a haddock samich! Logan was an awesome server, very attentive, knew my son wanted a soda before he even had a chance to ask! Stop on in you won't be disappointed!

A A.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in a very long time and it has really gone down hill ... The hours say 1 am?? you'll be lucky to get in here after 9pm without feeling awkward like they are wanting to close. Beer was warm and foamy... Food was salty... People in the bar area made us feel very unwelcome and the bartenders seemed miserable..you could tell who they favored. Renovations were nice but its still a Dive Bar...... Enough said. Also very obvious that they were over serving....

James D.

Yelp
Got the nachos, I am glad I stopped there. Very dry and stuck together, like they were old or something. Had the pulled pork added, they must have been low on pulled pork cause it was hard to find any.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
The food was TERRIBLE. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was way under seasoned and rubbery. We then received our entrees and my husband's cole slaw was spoiled. He immediately spit it out and I smelled it, it smelled like rotten vegetables. His fish and chips were frozen (only 5 miles from the ocean) and when we mentioned about the cole slaw the server got an attitude with us. The table next to us had to send back their food as well. The service was incredibly slow. We will not be back again.

Stephen H.

Yelp
this place is on its way to the bottom fast. Ordered a grey goose and tonic and got a gin and tonic, twice. the host was drinking at the bar the entire time and seating people. the host was rude when asked to sit in a certain area. most locals are not going in do to the lack of service and poor food quality. WE are locals and wont be returning unless Shipyard gets a grip on this location.
