A 407‑acre state park on reclaimed landfills honoring the Brooklyn trailblazer. Ten miles of car‑free trails, piers, and a free Bike Library make it a standout—regularly highlighted by New York State Parks and local outlets.

I cannot say enough about this place. Whoever designed this place was a genius. This place will challenge you. One thing I wished was that there was more water 💧 stations along the trail for very hot days. Though the park staff place water coolers on the picnic tables along the trails, but if the water isn't cold it doesn't make a difference. Let's do better in this regard.

Families enjoy the park’s free bike rentals available Thursday through Sunday, making it an ideal spot for outings with children. The trails are described as peaceful, with opportunities for wildlife spotting, including birds and rabbits .

Great park for walking, picnics, and relaxing. Great views of Jamaica Bay and you can see the planes entering and leaving JFK.

Second time visiting! This time on the hilly side with #BlackMenRun. Everyone finished the #ShirleyChisholm walk/run event!

I always wanted to come and bike here but never made on time during weekdays since the parks closes after dusk. Little did I know this a former NYC landfill. They covered it with new soil, and now the smell that people would feel when driving thru the belt pkway is gone, making it much better to look at. It’s a clean space, with trash and recycle cans that help. Definitely a place worth visit with your family on a sunny day.

Park has two parts. Smaller one is easier to reach from Belt if you ride from Coney Island. Bigger one harder to walk around and very limited parking space. No shades if you are here in the middle of a hot sunny day. Be aware that just a few small trees there and picnic tables with umbrellas can be limited. It's great for someone who loves bikes

The most quiet park in NYC. Perfect place for long walks or riding your bike. If you forget your bike they rent bikes for free. They don’t allow pets, alcohol or bbq. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the nice views or to run/bike. The bike paths are either roads or gravel. There are a lot of toilets and resting areas. Bring your own food and water!

For starters my pictures dont do this place justice. I love this park. It is so peaceful. The opening to Jamaica Bay is serene. This is an ideal place to meditate, take in nature while walk/jogging, or just sitting by the rocks and listen to the waves crashing. They also have bike giveaways periodically for children. This is the best thing that has happened to Brooklyn in a long time.
