"Like so many small kabob cafes, this spot is family-owned, a friendly spot on Williams. Shishkabob House offers authentic flavors, made-to-order freshness, and delectable mezze, all at bargain prices. Platters of grilled lamb chops, shawarma, goat, shrimp, or lamb kabobs are served with rice or hummus." - Beth D'Addono

"Like so many small kabob cafes, Shishkabob House is family owned, a friendly spot on Williams — the Kenner boulevard dotted with so many international eateries. The chicken shawarma is a specialty, but everything is good. Don’t expect ambiance, but the rock bottom prices and savory specialties are sure to please." - Beth D'Addono

Google
Absolutely my family's number 1 place to eat out. The food is prepared from and by the owners family recipes. You will not be let down on a fabulous menu offering delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Great Tea offerings and the baclava is to die for. You will not be let down on quality, quantity and price!!

Google
The food was amazing. I enjoyed every single thing I tried. It's a great place for no nonsense Middle Eastern food. The staff was super attentive and nice. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone craving some great food.

Nice environment. Good food for price.

Google
A good, clean and organized restaurant. The food is delicious, good and varied, suitable for all, even children, with a good appetite.

I ordered to-go over the phone. Young lady taking my was super friendly and helpful. Service was fast. I ordered 2 appetizers, soup, 2 entrees and a kids meal. Only took about 15/20 minutes. Portions are massive and food was excellent! Even the kids were raving about the food! Extremely satisfied with experience and will order again! I only got a picture of my food, gyro dinner plate.. amazing and can eat off of this 3 times! ( i added the sumac seasoning to hummus in picture, for those of you who may not like it)

Google
No frills is an understatement, but the food is solid. Excellent hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, and they don't skimp on the pita.

Google
I ate there 3-4 times... Everytime they provide their best service... The food was awesome.. I highly recommend this place... Wanna eat there again... Best halal food in town...

Went here for the first time the waitress was very nice but the food was not good. We ordered the gyro plate with rice and the chicken shawarma. The meat did not taste fresh, I definitely had better one's in other restaurants. As for the hummus, it was very sour...hummus is not supposed to taste sour. I was very unhappy with this. I don't think I will be coming back here. I don't recommend this place if you want good quality middle eastern food.

Chris A.

Yelp
I recently made 2 carry-out orders here within 2 weeks. Both times, the food was phenomenal! They have the creamiest/tastiest hummus I've ever eaten! Falafel is amazing! Chicken shawarma as well! I highly recommend this restaurant!

LaVonna V.

Yelp
Food is good. Love the hummus. Great portions. Will take photos next time to share. They are not stingy with the pita. The grilled kabobs are soo yummy lamb and chicken.

Vanessa B.

Yelp
Amazing food. Every time I visit Kenner this is my first option. Not impressed with the hummus but my little one likes it. Service girls are great too. Don't skip the baklava.

Merrile G.

Yelp
The food is great service was great. It was a good experience. The lamp is delicious and the hummus is very good.

Shazia W.

Yelp
This secret middle eastern gem is to die for! Food is always great, people are always great and it's reasonably priced. My mom sister and I ended up getting 3 lamb kebab plates so delicious! Comes with a side of hummus, pita, kebabs, side cucumber salad, grilled tomato and lots of yellow rice! To drink I got a Lebanese tea which was delicious! It's def enough to share a plate with someone else, but we were all very hungry that day. It wasn't my first time coming here, we had been a few times! Overall I would def recommend this spot to anyone, if you're in Kenner you probably already know about this spot, if you're not from Kenner... you're welcome!

Tina S.

Yelp
Was a total disappoint for this meal. Yes. Lollipop lamb BUT this isn't a bite. They aren't consistent in how many. Sometimes it six and today it's five. For the price was expecting better

Julie F.

Yelp
The food here was very good. The extra star is because the mint tea is so aromatic, the harissa desert is warm and coconutty and the lunch special is such a bargain for the amount/quality of the food. I started with the mint tea. An individual cup (not pot) served very hot with mint leaves floating on top. So aromatic and a perfect go with a middle eastern meal. Then I ordered the lula kabob lunch special. Two skewers of lightly seasoned ground lamb served over rice pilaf with chopped salad and hummus. Warm pita bread is brought separately. I added a touch more salad dressing to the salad. And sprinkled my favorite spice (sumac) onto the meat and rice. Note: Most specials are under $10. I finished the meal with harissa cake. I'd never had this before so decided to try it. It's a moist, served warm, coconutty cake topped with slivers of almonds. Quite good and a nice change from baklava. Would definitely come back if in the area. And especially nice if you need a break from all the great seafood Nola offers...

Yelp
After writing reports all morning it was time to hit the road and find some lunch. The first place that close and sounded appetizing was a local BBQ just blocks from my hotel. Pulled in the tiny lot to find the only open spot was a handicapped space. No room for any other parking without blocking in the 3 other cars in the front. Circled the Block and the lot next door had plenty of open spaces but restricted with Tow away signs posted. Sorry, passing on this one! As I pulled out and looked across the street a Middle Eastern restaurant with ample parking and an easy U turn, called my name. A nice large inside and warm welcoming smells greeted us along with a friendly waitress. After looking over the menu and spotting some reliable favorites, I chose the Lamb Kabob lunch platter ($7.95!), which included rice pilav, chopped salad, Humus, roasted onions and peppers and warm pita bread. The hot mint was a great accompaniment. The huge dish arrived and a request for some Sumac was met with a friendly, "Sure!" (Sumac goes great sprinkled over everything!) Great Meal!

Viquar M.

Yelp
Very nice food. Surprise to see that here. Nice decor, somewhat noisy at times. Loved the food esp hummus and combo platter. Price is reasonable. Service is good and people are pleasant.

Anthony L.

Yelp
I Like It ! I ordered the chicken shawarma, it comes with salad and humus. All of the items were good. I was the only person there at the time and the waitress was nice to make recommendations upon inquiring. Next visit I'll try the gyro platter.

Sean T.

Yelp
Best Middle Eastern food in Kenner hands down. Can't beat the home cooking from the owner his wife. You won't be sorry on this choice.

Lacey D.

Yelp
I really enjoy eating here every time that I come. The food is always good, the quality and freshness consistent. The people are hit or miss when it comes to friendliness, but they are prompt and efficient. This particular visit, my fiancé and I ordered labneh and kibbeh for an appetizer. For our meals, he ordered the kufta kabob plate with hummus and salad and I ordered the chicken shwarma plate with rice and hummus. The amounts of food you get here are always huge and I never leave without taking home leftovers. Everything was delicious, especially the kibbeh and the meats. My favorite thing on the menu, and what I usually get, is the Meat and Tomato Stew, with rice and hummus. I look forward to my next visit!

Thomas W.

Yelp
Lamb kabob and baklava are excellent. Great prices. Excellent weekday meal. Can call ahead and pick up. Friendly service.

Shannon S.

Yelp
Decent Middle Eastern food located in a strip mall in a former Chinese restaurant. The chicken shawarma and lamb were good for the entree plates. The menu specifically makes note that all of their meats are halal and there is also a nearby halal meat shop. Overall it is a decent spot for a quick meal but it isn't my favorite Middle Eastern place in the area and I find for a similar price I get a bit more food at other places.

Tiffy N.

Yelp
Great food! My new favorite place to eat Palestine food. I recommend the Kufta Kabob :))

Rizzo M.

Yelp
Wanted to try Lebanese food and found this good place. The ambience is nice.. not too noisy . The servers are nice and fast. The food was not too pricey and was very good ,everything seemed fresh made. The hummus, Baba ganoush and falafels were very nice, the spinach pie was big no no it was not at all good in anyway. The kabobs and shawarma was nice soft and juicy. The guava smoothie was something new and nice to try. In all a place worth going again.

Norma K.

Yelp
Its ok. Not the greatest just okay food. The chicken kabob only came with two kabobs. Kinda disappointed. Hummus is bland. Salad is ok. Ok kind of food. It has a lot of rice. I guess they expect you to fill up on rice. We got the shrimp plate too. It came with 4 pita breads. And one drink. It was around 38 dollars.

Senor D.

Yelp
Was in the area craving a shawarma so I rolled the dice and checked this place out. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate. The meal came with hummus, salad, rice and pita. The meat was seasoned very nicely and the food was delicious. Only being able to stop by once on a fluke I wish I'd had time to explore the menu more but it was a nice meal that really hit the spot.

James D.

Yelp
The food was tasty and fresh and the service was friendly enough. My fiancé and I started with and order of the fried kibbeh and an order of labnah. The kibbeh was really good, and definitely made fresh as it was piping hot and came a few minutes after the labnah. For our entrees, I got the kufta kebab with hummus and salad and she got the chicken schwarma with rice and salad. Both portions were very large and delicious. Mine came with four good sized kebabs and she had a mountain of rice topped with the chicken.

Ben B.

Yelp
This is now my go-to place for Lebanese food. This is how all food should be done - authentic with fresh ingredients. A big 'Thank You' to the owners and chef of Shishkabib House for being the gold standard! Don't let the simple name of this fine restaurant fool you. The only other time I've had Mediterranean food this good was when I was overseas.

Brian N.

Yelp
Perfect blend of flavor. I ordered the Kufta lunch portion which is generous. The salad mixed with the hummus, rice and kebobs do the taste buds good. Will return for sure.

Gina A.

Yelp
So i finally tried this place after passing it for years. Pretty decent Mediterranean food. Nice lunch specials. You get a lot of food for your buck. My favorite was the falafel. Very tasty. Good kabobs, hummus and pitas. All around good.

Quynh D.

Yelp
I love this place so much. I have been trying to find the perfect place in Kenner/Metairie that serves the best gyro plate/wrap/whatever I want. I tried Falafel king and was highly disappointed. I tried Acropolis and it was okay. I finally tried Shishkabob House from a recommendation given by a friend of mine. He told me to eat here, and that it's much better than Halal guys. I'm so glad he convinced me to come. 3 gyro plates, falafel appetizer, and one Diet Coke came out to an even $30. I think that's amazing. Nowadays Middle Eastern/Greek/Mediterranean food comes with a high price tag. This place certainly did not. They gave me so much food for my money, I only managed to finish half of it. Keep in mind this is the lunch portion. I couldn't imagine if I had the dinner portion! The gyro plate came with plenty of meat, a refreshing salad, and delicious rice. The hummus was good as well! The falafel was very good, as was the sauce accompanying it. I would definitely come back again and again.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
I loooooove the chicken shawarma salad from Shishkabob House. It's more of a chopped salad style than the typical "greek salad" that other restaurants place under the meat, and I appreciate that there are plenty of cucumbers to go around. I've also had the dinner plate with salad and hummus. It was yummus! (sorry, had to). For me, it's conveniently located in a small North Kenner strip mall, perfect for takeout after work. Friendly staff, great portions, and delicious!

Ashley M.

Yelp
This the best place in the New Orleans area for middle eastern food. It's flavorful and true to the region, owners are very nice and never a let down. Prices are amazing , food is amazing and I would bring anyone I know here.

Wendi T.

Yelp
Best little middle eastern restaurant ever! I highly recommend the goat kabob and their tea is outstanding! Great service and the food came out super fast.

Olivia P.

Yelp
Large portions of authentic food at reasonable prices but ambience could use an upgrade. Can see the tenants if the contest restaurant that came before it but flavors are food enough to compensate. I had the chicken schwarma lunch special which was moist and filling. Hubby had the beef schwarma stirfry which he devoured. Lentil soup was amazing. Plenty of free parking and liked like there were quite a few take out orders when we were there.

Zara H.

Yelp
Best Food in NOLA. Alway my husband and I are going there. Cheap food but very yummy

Stephanie A.

Yelp
This place is the real deal when it comes to great home style Palastenian comfort food! Location: middle eastern plaza near the airport. Service: Excellent! Friendly! Attentive! Food: OMG! The lentil soup was absolutely luscious! The kibbeh... Let's just say that my sister-in-law is no longer the kibbeh queen! The lamb, chicken, and shrimp were all fresh, succulent, and lovingly prepared by the servers mother. Oh and if you are an iced tea person ... don't pass up the lovely rose tea with pine nuts as it is magical! Nurse Nerd vote: 5 stars hands down!

Ramzi M.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Phenomenal Middle Eastern food done right. The owners are great and friendly, and they make you feel like your part of the family. The food came out fast and fresh. I noticed a sign that said they are one of the Top 10 restaurants in Kenner.

Ahmad S.

Yelp
I am from Wisconsin and I visit New Orleans very often. I have to come to Shishkabob House every time I come down here. This is the best place to eat if you are looking for authentic, clean, and tasty food. On top of all that the service is just exceptional. Highly recommend

Rachael K.

Yelp
Message to owners : Worst restaurant experience ever ! The owners or owners family had atleast 4 kids running all over the restaurant screaming their heads off continuously. You would think they would have controlled the situation considering they had customers , but nope they didn't do anything until I said I want the food to go and that's when they left . They never apologized or nothing so disrespectful! What a way to show new customers that you appreciate them ! The place is lame but the food is okay not bad at all. I suggest taking the food Togo, because the ambiance is depressing.

Michele I.

Yelp
The best Middle Eastern food around! I drive from the city for it. Their gyro platter is AMAZING! It's like 2 meals in one. So big! Also, they have the best falafel! I haven't found better anywhere else in or around the city!

Samantha U.

Yelp
This was the absolute best Mediterranean food I've ever had in Louisiana. The falafel was so fresh and crispy. The kebabs were so delicious and the portions were huge. This place is also so affordable. I was absolutely blown away by the wonderful quality. The server also deserves a huge shout out for being awesome and friendly. Lastly, it was exceptionally clean!

Bobby R.

Yelp
I ate here today for lunch although I ordered the entree plate of beef shawarma. It was good but unlike the other reviews it didn't rise to greatness. It was served on a medium sized round plate with a ring of hummus along the edge. Not much color or interesting to look at. One thing that I recommend diners to stay away from is the God awful Lebanese Iced Tea. I ordered it on a recommendation from a previous reviewer. It's iced tea with "Rose water". Its an unbelievably strong taste. As if you put very fragrant rose petals in your drink. It's so strong that it fills your nostrils with that fragrance thereby not allowing you to truly getting the flavor of the dish you're eating. I couldn't drink but about a few swallows with my meal. If you're with a group of people and you feel you want to try it....order only one glass and share it. You'll soon see what I'm talking about. The restaurant itself is okay. Nothing fancy but passable.

Yelp
Sometimes you have to dress up to go for a Sunday work out then skip it, think about getting burgers but then drive like 30min out of the way to go and eat at a place where Kebabs remind you of home and you drool over the food 6 hours later. Yes, thats what Shishkabob house did for us. It was like eating at home just paying for it. The food is homecooked by owners and their son is at the front desk. We had chicken and goat kebabs, while goat wasn't as tender as i am use to but it was delicious. Chicken was just out of this world so juicy, succulent, just amazing. The best part was the salad, grilled veggies and humus was as amazing as the main entree. A lot entrees have a bunch of sides as "sides", not here. As we were walking out and about to pay, we saw one of the owners bring in 5 pieces of dessert just out of oven. They told me its "Katayef", made with walnuts. I am not a fan of dessert but i ate 2 while they were swiping my card. It was the best thing ever. If you ever crave mediterranean food, please make the extra hike and go here. Check for 2 would be around $30 max. Thanks for making our Sunday a memorable one.

Jes H.

Yelp
Great friendly staff. Quiet atmosphere. Free wifi. And without a doubt, the very best Lebanese tea that I have ever tasted!!! Soooo good!!!

Al A.

Yelp
This restaurant deserves an award for the top notch Middle Eastern food they serve all year round. This has been my GO TO spot for years now and they never fail to put a smile on my face. I can never get enough of their Friday specials and their MEAT STEW is to DIE FOR. Nothing makes me happier then when i know they made a fresh plate of KNAFA with exxxxxtra syrup . If you ever need to grab a delicious plate of food on the go they'll have it ready for you in no time. FRESH FAST FOOD can not get better than this. Gordon Ramsey aint got nothing on this restaurant !!!

Alex L.

Yelp
This restaurant is great! I always enjoy dining here. They have the best falafels i have ever had. Their gyros and shishkabobs are delicious. The baba ganouj is out of this world. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody who's looking for something really authentic.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Excellent gyro! Overstuffed and delicious Good size portion of side order of hummus too.

JoJo C.

Yelp
I have found a new restaurant to add to my list. This place is off the hook. I ordered the Chicken Schwarma dinner plate. It was awesome. The prices were very reasonable and the portions are big. Be prepared to either bring your appetite or ask for a to go box. There is enough food for two meals. I will be returning.

Ida G.

Yelp
The food here is outstanding. Without a doubt the best middle eastern restaurant in New Orleans. And Houston too, for that matter. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is high. We ordered the lamb kabob plate for lunch, medium rare. Nailed it, lol... Meat tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The salad was not an afterthought, it was excellent. We are still talking about it - salad! Hummus was great, the rice delicious. Generous portions of each item on the plate. My son has chicken shawarma and it too was a 10. The seasoning was unique and quite memorable! The food is just outstanding. The service was friendly and fast. My only criticism is the atmosphere, ethnic utilitarian with plastic tablecloths. However, it was clean and we prefer great food to fancy digs. We are planning our next visit.

Dan S.

Yelp
If you need a middle eastern food fix in a hurry, this is your place. The portions are large, the service is fast. We do mostly take out from here and they are open during Covid restriction for take-out orders. Their falafel is some of the best I have ever had. Did I say the portions are large? Come hungry. Very affordable too!

Alexander B.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service not so much. Loved the hummus and lamb. Service was just slow and confused. Given the choice, i would just do takeout in the future.

Mike L.

Yelp
Love how fresh the food is I had falafel and hummus for appetizer and kufta kabob it was the best I ever had . Soooo Good!!!! I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Sara L.

Yelp
Food is always fresh, delicious and affordable. So glad I found this place. One of the few places that makes grape leaves from scratch.

Luna S.

Yelp
The best middle eastern restaurant in this area!! Food is great and consistent!! Makes my tummy happy!!!

E.M. V.

Yelp
Amazing deal! Best falafel I've ever had. Labneh, hummus and combo platter were all very good. Portions are huge. The bill was so low I thought the server made a mistake----nope--this is just the best deal in NOLA. I've been to most of the other Middle eastern restaurants in the area but this one takes the cake (or falafel?).

Chrissy S.

Yelp
Loved it ! Had the lula kabob sandwich . It was well made , very tasty . And the price was convenient too . Will definitely go back to try more !
