"The menu here is loaded with classic Northern and Southern Indian dishes. Pineapple chicken, butter masala, and variations of biryani are all notable dishes, but the winner is the Royal Dinner for Two — and it’s available in a vegetarian option." - Courtney E. Smith, Didi Paterno

Here with my sweet 🌶️ for Valentine's Day! I love the food, I love the location and the vibe is so eclectic and cool! Our waitress, Cherry took care of all our little requests. What a great evening. What a great meal!🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️

Adriana Guney

Google
First time dining at Shivas. It was a unique experience. Nice ambiance with good and attentive service. We had the Royal dinner for two. We ordered it mild hot. Every dish came with good presentation, and good taste, delicious rice and naan. Enjoyed the dessert after the meal. Ordering the Royal was the best option allowing to try all of the delicious dishes and desserts.

Google
We tried many dishes and they were all delicious. By far the best Indian food we’ve had! Everything was very flavorful and the amount of spice was perfect. I would fly back into Dallas just to eat here again!

Google
Five stars! This place was absolutely amazing—the food, the service, and everything else exceeded our expectations. The food was served quickly and efficiently, and it was always warm and fresh. They even treated us with special goodies. As a family of six, we truly appreciated the exceptional attention we received. The staff was incredibly kind, went above and beyond. The level of care was far beyond the usual service. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back in the future!

Google
Everything was super delicious! We got a samosa chaat, paneer tikka masala, and chicken biryani. Solid 9/10 food. My boyfriend’s Indian who eats mom’s cooked food at home all the time and even he approved it. We also got ras malai for desserts which was pricey—8 bucks for 3 small pieces and barely any sauce/liquid on it. But other than that, the service (shout out to Cherry) and atmosphere were good! Paid around $60 without tips. Parking was also easy (paid parking for $5 for 12 hrs). Will definitely be coming back again.

Google
The atmosphere is great. Conveniently located in the heart of Dallas. The service is on point and the food is absolutely delicious 😋. I do not normally try new things I stick to my usual but today we tried it all. Chili shrimp is cooked to perfection and the Chili chicken is also really good. Try this place you won't be disappointed. Oh and the Garlic butter naan 🤤🤤😋. Be your own critic

Google
Great restaurant! The service is excellent! Food is super flavorful, the butter chicken and the coconut masala were our favorite. They give refills for rice!!! The cocktails are good too, overall great place.

Google
Absolutely delicious. I had always passed this place and been curious about it but I finally had a chance to stop by and it was worth it. The chicken fried was delicious the chicken was crispy and well seasoned and the mixture of veggies was exceptional. My butter chicken was creamy spicy and delicious. I wish the chicken was more chunky rather than sliced but it was still good. I would recommend this spot to everyone, service is great, the food comes out fast and it’s tasty.

Yelp
We were excited to find Indian food close to home. Food was great! You can smell the aroma as you approach the restaurant. We tried to garlic naan, lamb samosas, a chicken dish, a paneer dish and the rice pudding dessert. Everything was great. Service was excellent as well. It's also open until 12a! Can't wait to come back and would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Was craving Indian food in Dallas so decided to go to the closest place with a good rating and stumbled upon Shivas with high hopes.. I order the gobi Manchurian and I received tiny pieces of battered and deep fried cauliflower and all I could taste was batter. I told the sited and she's like this is the correct was to make this dish. I have been to India so her trying to prove to me that I'm wrong isn't help. Not good. I also order the chicken tikka masala which was extremely bland chicken and a gravy that tasted like cheese and tomato soup. No Indian flavor at all. Not authentic, not good. I ordered the garlic naan - mid level. Paratha - not what i thought it would be, dry. The saving grace was the clay pot biriyani. That was delicious. Best part of the whole meal. I would not go back, unfortunately.

Lalanica C.

Yelp
Surprised by the few Indian restaurants located within downtown- and was even more surprised to see how many raving reviews this place had on google. Came by for lunch. Have a weak spot for lychee martinis- but this definitely did not hit the mark. Went with the Gobi 65 which was nice and flavourful. The mixed veg Chettinad had some bold flavour, a little heavy on the Cardomom for me but I'm not sure if that's the normal profile. The lamb biriyani- now that's where it's at. And get it in the clay pot! The flavours here were diving and comforting and there was an abundance of tender meat. For just 2 of us we had plenty leftover to divvy up for later! Service is good and we got checked on regularly. They were kind enough to write off one of the drinks that my friend did not enjoy.

Jenna B.

Yelp
The food here is always great and the service is always awesome. I have been here several times for dinner and it's always a winner for me and my family great food great service and great ambience. The desserts are not my favorite nor are the cocktails but if you want some great authentic Indian food this is a great spot.

Kyle P.

Yelp
Visit this place last year in December and I had to get a to go order for a customer but the ambiance of the place was absolutely amazing the staff was extremely nice and helpful and even told me back stories of the big bottles of liquor that they have on the bar LOL I will be going back here for myself and checking out the food. I asked the customer of whom I was getting it for how they liked the place and he raved about them so I definitely need to check out what all the fuss is about!!!

Darrion H.

Yelp
Very very rare dishes. So glad we decided to stop by. I had to come back the next day for more. The nilgiri was everything I've been missing. I thought when I discovered chat with all the various sauces and chickpeas I was on to something. No, you have to try more. The more I try, the more I understand why people fought over these spices. Sheeeesh. My tandoori was all the way legit compared to a lot of, just red on the outside, I've had so much of. Rarely do I have tandoori this well made. I honestly started to give up on eating tandoori all together. Well these guys brought it back to life for me. Every dish I tried was spot on. Even their levels of spice was absolute appropriate with such full flavored spices. My service was great. Not the best service I've ever had but it was very good. I never felt neglected. One thing that I also appreciated was how unique all of their flavors were. So rich and sweet or almost too sweet on occasions. My raita and chutney were all great. Very well made and great quality. Even their naan was high quality. Made with care. We ordered the paneer stuffed naan. It had a perfect amount of paneer that was evenly spread through the filling. Maybe it could have had more paneer but I did not feel like it wasn't enough. I will note, a lot of places make great food, but these guys do it on every dish in a way that makes you feel like they eat their own food. Every dish we had was made with love and care. The presentation was not over the top. Kind of like driving a properly tuned and enhanced bmw. Now for the interior, I enjoyed it. The theme matches its name. I felt like I was in a very nice Indian bar. Not the most luxury, just very nice. Parking in the area was a bit slim, but we actually didn't not have an issue. We parked within a block of the restaurant. So much to do in the area I really enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Tried this place on my trip to Dallas. It's located on the corner and there is a parking garage near by along with plenty of parking opposite it. In drinks I ordered Virgin Mojito which was good. For food I had Dal Makhani and Onion Kulcha. Dal Makhani was delicious and was served with a portion of rice. I loved the authentic taste and flavor. The service was good. Ambiance was decent. I would highly recommend this place! A+ star and MUST TRY!

Harshit J.

Yelp
Out on family trip to Dallas and all of us were hungry for some legit Indian meal and Shiva was a great surprise! We ordered mango lassi and virgin mojito for drinks and they are really good. On food we had bread basket, peshawari naan, shahi panneer, dal makhni and malai kofta. The trad Indian food above was amazing in every way, Malai kofta stood out but dal makhni and shahi paneer were good as well. All the breads were great, well cooked fresh. Peshawari naan stood out. Will highly recommend this place, has a decent bar and great ambience and the service doesn't disappoint either!

josh p.

Yelp
No buffet but all the food is super yummy and the service is top notch! Raj made sure everything was perfect and that spice levels were just what we wanted. The naan bread basket for $12 had like 10 pieces of onion, garlic, spinach and plain naan! The butter chicken was excellent, standout for me was getting to try Mulligatawny soup (lentil and chicken soup with maybe some lemon in it?) that was new flavors for me but soooooo yummy And a little taste of their rice pudding at the end. Mmmm

Maria R.

Yelp
Daughter and SIL took me to Shivas to celebrate a promotion. The food was great, 7/10 this is due to the chicken being though. Now, the service was seriously 2/10, there were three of us, we got two menus, I asked for a menu and the very young waitress was very confused. Also, for some reason, she thought we were going to share one entree. She didn't ask us individually what we were having. We had to literally tell her how to get our order down. No wonder they had so many to go orders. The service was awful.

Rachel H.

Yelp
What a great spot so close to the downtown Dallas hotels. This place is 4 stars on food quality alone, but you easily get enough in one entree for two to three meals making by it an absolute steal. Highly recommend the Lamb Biryani and Baigan Bartha.

Miracle O.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST Indian food in Texas *Authentic *Amazing Service * Great vibe and very clean 10/10, I'd recommend this place any day of the week !

Gigi C.

Yelp
Happy to have found this hole in the wall Indian eatery! The waitstaff was very accommodating , respectful and helpful. Delicious flavor! Ample servings. We loved it!

Don R.

Yelp
If you work in downtown Dallas, or are visiting the Perot Museum or Dallas Aquarium, make time to stop in a Shiva's Bar & Grill for a wide array of Indian dishes, each one as flavorful as the last. Thanks to owner; Praveen, for being such a great host and allowing me to sample so many wonderful dishes! I started with Vegetable Samosa and Onion Pakora. The samosa was good, as I expected, but this was my first time having Onion Pakora (onions fried in chickpea flour) and they were delicious! Next was Yellow Lentil Soup, which was a very nice consistency and a little more flavorful than the typical lentil soup. Being my first time, I had to try a few main dishes to really get a sense of what Shiva has to offer. The Meat Classic includes Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Saag and Shrimp Vindaloo. I also tried the Butter Chicken and Chicken Biryani. (If you want to sample a variety of dishes, The Royal Dinner for Two includes your choice of the Meat Classic or the Vegetable Classic with the Onion Pakora, Yellow Lentil Soup, Garlic Naan, Raita and Dessert - a great selection of items!) Again, no item disappointed, but what stood out to me was the Chicken Saag (I've had Saag Paneer before, but never with Chicken), It's sort of an Indian version of Creamed Spinach and I really enjoyed it. The Butter Chicken was packed with flavor, and the Chicken Biryani was a large portion and included all the great flavors and aromatics of a good Biryani dish. I was also treated to some Mussels in a clay pot, which I didn't see on the menu, but really enjoyed. Finally, I tried the Gulab Jamun and Rice Kheer. The Gulab Jamun were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Rice Kheer I really enjoyed. Slightly sweet, and a good consistency. It was the best Rice Pudding, of any kind, I've ever tried. Shiva's also has a full bar, so you can enjoy your favorite drink along with your meal. There's a small parking lot beside the restaurant, and more parking just down the street, towards the Aquarium. I know I'll be back, and I would highly recommend you try Shiva's the next time your downtown.

Robin D.

Yelp
The food was fine, nothing to write home about but paying $6.60 for gulab jamun to receive 2 singular pieces had me feeling scammed as heck. I though it must have been a mistake so I called (they were closed), I left my number but they never called back to resolve it. My issue here is that they did not put the amount you would receive anywhere. If you are charging this much for so little, you should be upfront about the quantity you are getting. If they did that, I would not have purchased it and it would have been fine. But they omit that on the menu and take your $6.60. I order this often at other establishments and have never received only two. I feel it's sketchy and they did not seem to want to resolve it by calling me. The fact is, for that price reasonably logic people expect more. If you are serving so little, just place the amount on your menu. When you don't, people feel wronged or lied to. I also find it interesting because they have the quantity for other items on the menu, such as: Chicken Samosa (2 pcs) This makes me wonder why they would include this for one thing and not the other? If it's all an innocent mistake they should just edit their menu because I would NEVER pay $7 for the amount I received. Although the food was okay, this overshadowed the meal. $7 for what? People are struggling enough in this economy, let's just be upfront and honest to avoid this. The least they could have done was call back to resolve. For these reasons, I don't trust this establishment and would not eat here again.

Jordana G.

Yelp
Stylish and colorful place, friendly service and a full bar. I'm not too crazy about the downtown location and I worried about my car TBH but that's not the restaurant's fault. The mulligatawny soup was excellent. Rich and complex flavors melding together were brightened up with fresh cilantro. It's enough for two people. The Veg Xacuti (pronounced sha-koo-tee) was a new dish for me. Huge amount of food and beautifully served in an iron pot. It's a completely different taste profile with sweet and sour and spicy and lots of warm spices. It's served with a lovely saffron rice. Get a side of the chunky raita to cool your taste buds. One entree and soup or an appetizer is enough for two. I took home enough food for a second meal. Highly recommended.

Jannie T.

Yelp
Dined here for the first time and had a great meal! We ordered the chili paneer, paneer korma, aloo gobi, garlic naan and chapatti. There was no wait, the waitstaff was all so friendly and there was live entertainment for the evening. This place gets a five star from me because the owner came over and spoke to us after we mentioned to the waitstaff that we didn't prefer the aloo gobi dish since it was a bit too saucey and had too much cinnamon. He acknowledged that it was a bit different than the traditional dry aloo gobi and offered to make us the traditional aloo gobi himself, which we didn't trouble him to do. He comped the dish and also sent us some rice pudding after the meal. This kind of customer service can't be overlooked, and we appreciated his kindness! We look forward to dining here again.

Diana S.

Yelp
Every time I'm in Dallas I intentionally bring co workers to this location to eat. Hands down the best food. The service is great, everyone is friendly, the food is delish! Talk about tasty!

Corey P.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The food was delicious. I had the butter chicken and a beer. Everyone was very friendly. The staff was nice and the location is gorgeous inside. The food came out very quick and everyone was attentive. Can't wait to come back.

Christina B.

Yelp
I was a first attracted to this restaurant by the smell. It was amazing and enticing, so my brother and I came back to go and try it. I had the vegetable samosas, and my brother had the non-with hummus. Both of which were massively tasty. And then for dinner, I had the chef special which was lobster and shrimp coconut curry.that was the bomb!! I know that dates me, but it was so tasty

Vanity G.

Yelp
Got the Butter Masala, garlic naan and Curry mussels on a bed of there yellow rice the food was amazing I had Indian food before, but this one is definitely hands down my favorite place to go to if I'm in the mood for Indian food!!! Food is a bit pricey but worth the penny. I definitely recommend this place. Can't wait to have it again.

Bianchi R.

Yelp
Good is good ! Soup is a little spicy but tolerable! It's amazing ! Service was nice and attentive ! Ambiance is also chill and relaxing with relaxing music ! Samosa was good .. the darker sauce is sweet and the green one taste a little bit like cilantro and very cool taste !

Sueraya N.

Yelp
We got the shivas royal dinner - meat classic for 2. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. The tandoori chicken was dry, the naan very thin and the curries were a little below average. The lentil soup was very salty&grainy with a weird aftertaste. Service- excellent, everyone is very kind.

Puneet A.

Yelp
Amazing food and excellent staff. I highly recommend this place. The owner, Praveen, is very friendly and welcoming.

Albert T.

Yelp
Awesome food. Got the chicken kebabs, biryani, and chilli chicken. Awesome service. Rajni was wonderful!

Taufiq H.

Yelp
Really tasty it's a bit pricey, but worth it. The veggie Somozas were sooo good! If I could give it extra stars, I would ! Something is reasonably good I'll get five stars. Excellent service too. Had a Taj Mahal Indian beer $7 Parking is opposite the restaurant but will cost you about seven dollars for 12 hour parking slot

Kamal K.

Yelp
Food ain't good anyways, service below average, On top of that Raggedy a$$ service charge, for WHAT whole in my wallet!! AVOID this place. Got extra $$$ to give out on name of service charge, go ahead enjoy you dinner at ###### bar and grill.

Helen L.

Yelp
This place has great Indian food and is pretty authentic. The only thing I dislike was that it was challenging to find parking. Overall I would come back

Anastasiya T.

Yelp
Loved it! Everything is so delicious! An absolute must try!! Service great as well, cute interior design! Lovely dining experience

Eva C.

Yelp
What a great experience! The service was excellent, our waiter Sam and the waitstaff were very attentive. I have a dairy allergy and I really appreciate that they have a vegan menu. The food was cooked fresh and seasoned to perfection. The restaurant was clean and well lit with natural light. I will definitely come back when I am in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great, authentic Indian food!

Andrew K.

Yelp
Noticed some of the waiters coughing but didn't think much of it. Then got sick with a bad respiratory infection. Really made me angry. If you are sick why come to work at a restaurant?

Ebone' W.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place because I stay wanting Indian cusine...hey, Im a rice girl what can I say. *Almost* anything with rice and Im good!! Anyways, I actually ordered the lobster bisque because I love lobster bisque and thought it was kind of unique that it was on an indian menu, and it was actually really good. My main entree was the chicken masala and of course I got the garlic naan, which was really good. The masala though, just ok. I felt the sauce was a little thicker than usual, and the chicken wasn't that tender. I don't know, I'm starting to judge Indian cuisines based on the tenderness of the chicken in their entrees...so yeah. For me, this was the disappointment in the food. I didn't take any leftovers and I'm not sure if I'd choose to come back, but you never know.

Roland P.

Yelp
I can't say it enough. Shivas is the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. Not to mention the best food I've ever had. This is a must visit. You won't be disappointed. Location, food, staff, drinks, and food are on POINT! Yea, I said food twice. It's that good!!!!

arieanna p.

Yelp
I've had Indian food before but not like this. I was floored by the amazing flavors of everything dish i took a bite out of. I went during lunch hour and it was calm and not busy so our food came out in a timely manner. The place looks like it can hold a lot of customers wouldn't be surprised if the weekends were popping. Definitely will be back for more.

Zuriel L.

Yelp
Service was friendly and attentive! Checking up on us a considerable amount of time. Food came out super quick too. The naan bread I was not a huge fan of for being so thin. I'm used to naan being a little thicker. Tikki Masala came thru on the spice level omg Had to order a mango lassi to handle the spice which was my savior. Soooo spicy but so worth it!

Michika T.

Yelp
I absolutely loveeeeee this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and it comes out quickly. My go to is the butter chicken masala with garlic naan and a mango lassi. Portion sizes are great too! I always have enough food left over for another meal. The service is also amazing and the staff is so nice and accommodating. I've been here a good amount of times and never had a bad experience. Eating here is truly an experience you will NEVER forget (No pictures because I always eat the food immediately after it's placed in front of me, but the presentation is beautiful 10/10)

Jo P.

Yelp
Just came from an early dinner at Shiva's and could not wait to rave about it! Food was fantastic. To me, Garlic Naan with the hummus was buttery perfection. However, Hubs would've liked more salt in the dip, and big sis was glad to find strips of Naan with no garlic butter on them at all. My malai Kofta was rich with softened and spiced nuts and vegetables. It never looks like enough in those little metal bowls but I still needed a to-go box for a few spoons of the curry and most of the rice. Hub's dish reminded us that not all chicken Tikka is made equal because Shiva's was far better than what I've gotten used to. While generous sprinkles of herbs and chunks of tomatoes make the Tikka look like homemade spaghetti sauce, the creamy flavors and unseen spices take the diner well east of Italy to the heat of India. Service was just right, neither overbearing nor negligent. Bear in mind that quality takes time. Luckily, we were the only table left by the end of our meal. The interior was dark, warm, and welcoming--perfect on a snowy afternoon.

Fernando H.

Yelp
The food was delicious, in overall the experience was perfect. I would highly recommend this place to my friends.

Susan H.

Yelp
Fabulous Food and great service. Must try! We try to come once a week. Yummy Yummy!!!

Chijioke N.

Yelp
Excellent place with amazing service. I eat here on an almost daily basis. The food is so good. The ambience and scenery here is definitely the best of all Indian restaurants in Dallas. They have art on the walls that makes this a really cool place to dine

Katie H.

Yelp
We were in town for a conference and craving Indian food so we stopped at this spot. This was by far the best Indian food that I have had. We started out with the Veg Samosa and they were cooked perfectly and I loved mixing the mint and tamarind Chutney. I recommend getting a double order to share as it comes 2 per order. The Veg Kadai had just the right amount of flavor and it went well with the Tandoori chicken. I can't say enough about it. The service was really well and we were waited on from the minute we set down to when we left. Shout out to our waiter Karthik he was really great! P.a get the mango margarita! P.s we are there 2 more times before we left town! Lol Veg Samosa with Mint and Tamarind Chutney (sauce) Paneer Tikka Masala Veg Kadai Tandoori Chicken Garlic/Plain Naan Rice Raitu (yogurt)

Surbhi C.

Yelp
Good food, central location. Good portion size. Parking right across the street. Very attentive staff. Clean facility. We ordered vegetarian Biryani, paneer tikka masala, bread basket and mango lassi. Food was delicious. Lassi was too sweet though. They have a bar so I was expecting some new Indianised/different cocktail flavours but there were none and the drinks menu wasn't even part of online menu. Bummer But for food I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
I have to say I was amazed at everything. The cleanliness, speed of food arrival, flavor of food, and hospitality of waiter staff. I absolutely love tomato basil soup sooo this is exactly right up my alley and when I have a craving for t.b. soup again I'm coming here for the extremely better version

Macy W.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening and it wasn't that crowded. The interior is warm and inviting, and the colors on the walls are vibrant. Staff were all helpful. We started with the papadum which is on the house. First time trying it - it's a dough (not sure what it was made of) that is fried. Resembles a crunchy tortilla. It was seasoned well and was a nice start. The veggie samosas were a bit of a disappointment. I love veggie samosas but these were huge and the dough was not equally fried. Some parts were soft and the rest was fried okay but unusually hard. Additionally, the potatoes and peas weren't seasoned that well. The lamb kababs were good - not especially amazing but not bad. It was my first time trying onion pakora also. That was delicious! It came with the Royal Meat Classic. The onion pakora is onion covered in chickpea batter and fried. The meat classic was a nice way to sample multiple dishes. It definitely was more than enough for two people. The tandoori chicken was a bit tough, and the butter chicken was extra buttery. Overall, very good, though. I like spicy food but I know that spice levels are often different at Indian restaurants (for example, they usually specify "American spicy or Indian spicy"). I said 6/10 to be on the safe side but I was surprised that a six was actually not very spicy at all. I think an 8 would have been better. The classic also came with dessert, and I loved the rice pudding.

Tasha T.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time today. It was the middle of the day on a Sunday. There was no wait which was great. We tried a bunch of appetizers. Everything was very good. The onion pakora was very spicy though. My only complaint was that I sure wish they had chicken pakora but they didn't. I did try the chicken samosas which I had never seen before and they were awesome! If the location was closer I would definitely go back frequently but since I live pretty far from here it would be for special occasions.

Shivani M.

Yelp
Good Indian food just really pricey for the quality. Service is okay and ambiance is pretty casual. I think its a great place for an event because there is plenty of seating! I dont love the area it is in due to parking troubles, so just a heads up.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
This is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The royal dinner for 2 is such a good value if you're eating with other people. You get to try a little of a variety of things and I'm always so full, will never stop coming here!

Neha J.

Yelp
Service was good. Flavors were very average. The location is very central with a convenient Kent parking lot right across.

Claudia G.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I love the chilli shrimp, which is so delicious. They have some good cocktails and great service.
