One of the best omakase experience. The service is very good! The fish is fresh. Presentation is detailed and every piece is carefully made and constructed. We came all the way from the northshore for this and it was worth the drive. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been going here for 20 years and nothing has ever disappointed me. This is the most authentic sushi in the entire state!! The owner is also amazing and genuinely such a sweet person. Happy to continue supporting them and I hope they never close!!!

The wife and i are still in New Orleans. We looked up on google maps for good places to eat. We saw Shogun had a lot of good reviews so we went for lunch. The place was full. We got in fast. We had the clear soup, the house salad, the fried rice, the noodles, the chicken and steak. The soup was very good. The salad it was good. The rice was very tasty. The chicken and the steak was well seasoned. The place was very clean, the cook was excellent, the waitress was very friendly and attentive. We recommend you stop by and eat there. You will be happy you did. The experience was amazing.

This was my 3rd time having Shogun but my first time ever enjoying the sushi bar. Their sushi is high quality. The prices are fair for the New Orleans area, especially for the quality we received. Shogun offers a large menu that is sure to make everyone in your group happy even if they don’t want seafood or sushi. Drinks wise, they also have delicious lychee martinis and sake to enjoy outside of classic drinks/beers. They do online orders for pickup or delivery with doordash too if you don’t want to dine in. I’ve done both. Overall, this family-owned restaurant is a great place to grab sushi, hibachi, and more in Metairie!

It's really hard to go somewhere and have pre-existing expectations. We were trying not to compare to our favorite hibachi place back home in KY, but it was hard not to. The food was pretty good, but would have been much better had the shrimp not been pre-cooked. It makes a HUGE difference.

After the sale of this restaurant we have seen some changes like the snow crab they use in rolls. It wasn't bad just not as good as it used to be in our opinion. The smoked salmon we had today never should have been served, no taste and very tough. We were unable to send it back bc it was a to go order. The Shogun special lunch was very good, same quality and delicious 😋 I don't think we will ever order and take it home again, maybe just try the sushi/sashimi in house only.

This place is solid! Service is excellent. If you want sushi, sit at the bar. There’s always someone available to help. We tried the nigiri - I was impressed how fresh it was. Also had other warm dishes, also delicious. Definitely will come back.

Food was great. We sat at the sushi bar and had omakase. Chef's selection was amazing. Also ordered the crunchy roll which was my favorite.

Been eating here for +25 years. Slightly different since new ownership (crunchy rolls were gritty, less veggies in hibachi rice, some weird lard/butter used on grill). Hope it was an off night. Will try once more.

As a local and an avid traveler, I've had my fair share of Hibachi restaurants. This is one of my favorites I've come across. The portions are worth what you're paying for and the chefs make it an enjoyable dinner show. Highly recommend!! They do get busy so expect a wait on weekends.

First time here and it was an amazing experience. The wait was long, but they moved pretty fast. Definitely will come back again! 10/10 recommend!

Delicious rolls and nigiris! Get there early when they open the restaurant because there was already a line at the door. Ask to be sat at the sushi bar :) Pictured here is the Judy Roll and a selection of dressed nigiris! We also got the hot sake. The place is really chill and the sushi chefs are so nice.

I've been coming to Shogun for years! Every time we come in town we try and make a special trip. The food is amazing. So much flavor. The service is amazing and always impeccable. We love coming here and I always crave the rice. There's no place that makes it like they do!

The best hibachi, sushi and service that youll have at a Japanese restaurant. It is our absolute favorite! Always clean and they get you in as quickly as they possibly can!

Started as a customer at the first location in 1986 and I always enjoyed the food. The Shogun dinner with lobster is delicious. The lunch is also outstanding. Almost 40 years as a happy customer who is never disappointed, the service is fantastic and portions are generous. This review should encourage you to try this restaurant or great Japanese food ! I almost forgot to say that the Hibachi dinner is also delicious and entertaining.

If you want a habachi table, you should get here before the doors open!!! Such great food and service!

Their sushi is to die for. Always so fresh. Sit at the sushi bar, talk to the chef. They are always helpful. The restaurant is huge, with regular dining, hibachi tables, and sushi bar seating. I always get their specials, but the MUST HAVE is the Judy roll, salmon belly nigiri, and salmon roe with quail egg. Uni with quail egg as well when they have it

Good food, great service, and amazing atmosphere! I enjoy eating the sushi rolls and love the dinner boat. It gets 4 people full and I would definitely recommend. I also think their yellowtail neck is very good. It pairs well with their udon soup.

Shogun is practically a part of our family at this point! From our usual order of "Salmon Belly" or the "BBQ Eel Roll" or trying something new such as the "Kobe Beef" you can't go wrong! And the service is fast and efficient. So much so we usually get our food within half hour from the time that we sit. And to sum this up this has become a place that we take the family to have great conversations and eat great food.

Our waiters name was Bubba, but it should have been "Bubbly" to aptly describe the personality and service we were treated with. We started the night with 8 family members at the table, and we left night feeling like we now have 9. I'd say that we are now tighter than the Metairie roll we ordered.

I have tried many sushi places in Louisiana and this has to be the best! The sushi is fresh, and delicious. The atmosphere is nice. There are multiple channels on the tv playing. The servers are exquisite. Extremely nice restaurant.

By far, the best place to get hibachi in New Orleans. The portions are enormous, and the food tastes incredible. The service is excellent, but be prepared for a wait on weekends.

I have been to Shogun so many times, and this is the first time I've ever had their hibachi. I was happy with the experience. I ordered the steak and scallop lunch and it was delicious. The portions were very generous as well. The mountains of rice and noodles were more than enough, so I brought my leftovers home. I certainly want to mention the great service we had. From start to finish everyone was friendly and took good care of everyone at our table.

25 years ago, this was my go to sushi place. I moved away and couldn't wait to go back and see if it was still as good as I remember. Unfortunately, it was not. My favorites back in the day were the crawfish roll, crunchy roll, eel roll, spicy salmon roll and baked seafood. I ordered the crawfish roll, fresh salmon roll with spicy mayo and baked seafood. They were all just meh. The baked seafood had a ton of onions and sparse seafood. The inside, although still decorated the same, seemed dark and sad. There were a lot less people eating than I remembered in the past. The hibachi was pretty busy, so I may return and try it. I think I'll try elsewhere for sushi. I also heard they have new owners, which may explain some of it.

The best Hibachi I have ever had - get the gyoza as an appetizer!! Friendly staff and always an entertaining show too. Make sure you eat here if you're in town on vacation!!
