I placed a takeout order and didn’t receive the best customers service. My daughter and I went to the hostess's stand, and she didn’t really say anything after I let her know I was there to pick up a takeout order. I then asked if they accepted Apple Pay, and she responded “I don’t think so.” I gave her my debit card, and then she went to go ring up my order. She then came back and said she needed to see my order number on the receipt. At this point I realized she may be new and still learning which is perfectly fine. As we were waiting other customers were coming in, and instead of the employees asking if we’ve been assisted they proceeded to talk over us and assist the other customers. This happened twice. The hostess came back with my receipt to sign and as I was signing I believe she was speaking with the manager. But it was as if my daughter and I were no longer there. I tried handing the receipt booklet to the hostess, but she wasn’t paying attention so I sat it on the stand. Then no one handed my food to me or even said anything upon exiting the restaurant. The food is good, but the customer’s service lacks so much.

I placed a big order for pickup and everyone was very nice and helpful! I got the $89 sushi platter and some more food items. Everything came out fresh and delicious. I was even given a free drink during my small wait time. Love this place!

Google
I’ve had better sushi at a gas station. It was so DRY, bland, and the fish tasted old. You have to drink to swallow down the rice. It was also more expensive than the best sushi I’ve had in the Woodlands. Hopefully this review saves someone from eating sushi here. Neither of us could even finish it. You are literally paying for the view.

Let me start by saying I frequently go to Shogun in Atascocita. I was very disappointed in the Texas 105 location. First off, the wine, we ordered, was not what was brought to the table. We were told that was all they had. The.The waitress could not open the bottle, after about 10 minutes finally she had someone else bring a new bottle and open it. We all put our orders in, the waitress read them back and they were correct. When the chef came out, and he verified what the correct orders were. As he started cooking, the steaks that were put on plates were not cooked per order, The undercooked steak did not get cooked to order til the very end of meal. we were short a lobster, shrimp was over cooked. Chef had to look at the receipt four or five times and still could not get our orders correct. The flavor of the food was not near the quality of the Atascocita location. We were not given the sauces for our Proteins. We had a table of 7, but my personal ticket was for three and they added a $25 tip. Very disappointing, the manager of the Texas 105 location should visit the Atascocita location to see What the quality of this experience should be

TLDR: Come here if you want to be treated poorly by the staff and eat terrible food that will have you on the toilet for the next couple of days. The hibachi chef did not serve me my food or served me last after giving my food to the rest of the table first. DO NOT EAT HERE!! The staff here seriously needs to work on their customer service skills. My boyfriend and I were sharing a meal, which we communicated to the waiter and the chef. However, the chef only put the food on my boyfriend's plate, not mine. The craziest part about this is that the chef would serve the food that my boyfriend and I ordered to others at the table who did not pay for the food that we ordered. At one point, he actually took a piece of shrimp from my boyfriend's plate to give to someone else. Another interesting part is that when I asked a tablemate for the food on their plate, the chef asked why I was taking their food. Excuse me sir, I am trying to get the food that I paid for. Another instance of poor service is when I walked in here right after a hostess/server, and they did not prop open the door for me. No hospitality skills at all. Not only that, the chicken was dry and bland, the fried rice was too oily and buttery, and the shrimp was doused in oil as well. Also, I'm not sure what food safety certification the chef had, but myself and other members of my group had horrible bowel movements following this dinner. I would never come here again.

Google
Well I'm an Uber delivery driver and they put the food in Styrofoam containers that lead, and expect me to serve that to people paying hard earned $ for.!!! It should be sealed to retain the freshness , quality, and temperature. I mean I told the manager to repackage my food. Some excuses. And there are none. That lessens the integrity of the food and establishment. I just said I'm sorry but there just isn't an excuse for that. You can get 5 foil to go containers with lids for $1.25. Simple. That is not proper management. At least that's how I feel. One customer got her order comped but I was mad and embarrassed to show her her good. I take pride in my job, even though my kids think I'm a loser....lol

Google
3 stars only because facility and location are ok. 2 stars for the food and service. Not fresh and probably not even sushi grade. Definitely on the high end for sushi as far as pricing goes. There are much better options around for cheaper.

I got the Shrimp. Husband got the steak and Yakisoba noodles. Everything was cooked perfectly. The favors were wonderful. The staff was attentive. The service was excellent. The atmosphere inside was super nice. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Eight of us visited Shogun for a dual graduation celebration dinner. We had a typical Shogun experience; a great hibachi show, plenty of food, and excellent service. This site has a large bar, a spacious non hibachi dining area, and a large covered patio area right on lake Conroe. Service was excellent on this visit as we never wanted for water and cocktails. We all ordered Combo meals and yes they are expensive and these can easily satisfy two people. They did offer a unique soup starter. Usually it's miso but on this visit it was an onion based soup, which was delicious. My Combo was scallops and calamari. I was more than pleased with my dinner. Both were spiced perfectly and not overcooked. Others noted that their steak was a tad under cooked served medium rare instead or medium. We all (over) ate our dinners and brought home leftovers. Great choice if you are in the Conroe area.

Yelp
This was the most delicious teppan experience I have ever had!! I don't know what it was about this food but it was SOOO GOOD!!! We were seated right away and ordered some appetizers and sake. My boyfriend said that the sushi was delicious. We loved the whole experience and really enjoyed our meals. Some of the best fried rice I've ever had!! The chicken was delicious and overall everything was so yummy. We had such a great time and loved how it is right on the lake. Highly recommend for a date night spot in Conroe!!

Yelp
I was looking for a new hibachi restaurant closer to our home. I found this shogun on lake Conroe and decided to give it a try. I ordered the ribeye and chicken with fried rice. The chicken was so tough it was hardly edible. The ribeye was an extremely low grade steak. The food was very bland and low quality. Save yourself from the low quality experience and go somewhere else. I understand why there was hardly anyone in the restaurant on a Friday at 4pm.

Yelp
First time here. If I recall correctly this is in the old IHOP. We decided to try as we have been to other Shogun locations. When you walk in you are greeted by hostess and seated, place has a nice bar area and plenty of tables if you're not doing the Hibachi. Also they have plenty of hibachi tables too. Plenty of parking too. Place was clean and inviting and staff were friendly and welcoming. When you look at the menu for hibachi be careful pricing is a little confusing. There is a highlighted area for combo choices it says to pick 2 and show prices but the prices are for 1 item..ie Filet showed 18.95, chicken showed approx 12.95 and Shrimp 17.95 So I only order filet thinking ok 18.95 and my 2 friends did the same for shrimp and chicken. But when I got the bill my filet was $31 and Shrimp $28 and chicken $23. I asked for menu and also explanation from waitress and she stated if you don't pick 2 items from the combo choices then you default to the list above the highlighted combo area on menu there are approx 8 choices but I didn't know this or look at those prices. But it was really my misunderstanding because if I had picked 2 from combo area it still would of been $30+ if I ordered filet and shrimp Just letting you know so you're not surprised like I was. Our cook was pretty good and did all the normal thing before starting to cook...but sorta rushed through the cooking. He didn't even throw any pieces for us to catch in our mouths that other cooks were doing at same time. Over all the food was cooked great and tasted good. Seasoning was on point. The only thing I can complain about is the apps..salad was good but the dressing was a little watery and the soup was not hot, barely warm..but we didn't want to send back or ask for replacements. Drinks were also very good...but a little pricy. We ordered 3 egg nog martinis which look like a chocolate martini, nice and strong and tasted great $12 ea and 1 cosmo $14. We will come back for sure as we had a good experience over all.

Yelp
Japanese hibachi places all seem to be basically the same, however Shogun in the Lake Conroe plaza area exceeded expectations. The restaurant is 1/2 Japanese restaurant and 1/2 hibachi restaurant. We went for a birthday celebration on the hibachi side. It was a big step above regular hibachi. The food was fresher and the preparation was more authentic than schtick. The service was friendly and efficient. However, the main attraction for some in our party was the sushi. It was excellent from a freshness, taste and presentation perspective. Outstanding!

Yelp
The ginger dressing tastes like waters down thousand island. The sushi/sashimi was mediocre at best. This is not at all like the other Shoguns. Very disappointed

Scott T.

Yelp
This service here was absolutely horrible and normally I never leave a bad review for a restaurant but all I wanted to do was dine in by myself but I was stuck there for over 20 minutes without anybody acknowledging me like I was invisible and I asked them am I invisible and I said I'm sorry but we have a bunch of to go orders right now and all I wanted to do was sit down and eat I ended up leaving. This place is gone downhill. It looked like they had some new manager working in there and all he wanted to do was bus tables and not even help the customers up front and I'm not the only customer he ignored.

Yelp
What a day to be disappointed in service. Tonight for Mother's Day, my husband took my mother and us out to dinner at Shogun in Montgomery.  He made reservations for hibachi at 6 since he knew today would be a busy restaurant day. We get there, are greeted warmly by the host and taken to our seats pretty immediately. It's 5:55.  At our seats, the waiter shows up within minutes and takes our drink orders. Less than 5 minutes later he comes back with our drinks and takes our appetizer order: 2 edamame and 1 shaggy dog roll.  He did warn that the roll would take a bit of time and we understood. No problem. He brings out the edamame and takes our dinner order. By now it's about 6:15. Great pace so far.  But that's where it ends. We continue to get our soup and salads, then the roll.  We finish apps and now we are waiting on the chef. 6:30. Ok, still doable. We get told that we are next but they only have three hibachi chefs for the 8 tables that they are seating.  6:40. We get told by the waiter that the chef will be right out. At this time, my husband's dinner arrives (he wanted sushi not hibachi). 6:55, still no chef. Thank God the hubby's dinner was supposed to be cold!! Now I am aggravated. I go to the restroom and then ask to speak to a manager up at the bar area.  After waiting a few minutes, manager comes back and I ask if they are having a staffing problem tonight. She says yes, so sorry. I tell her I understand. Except we have been here an hour and still have no chef. She says let me check on that. Here's where I want to lose my mind.  Up till this point, yes, I am aggravated. But after this conversation, I am at ridiculous amounts of pissed off.  She tells me, so here is the situation.  You ordered appetizers. And we don't put your food order in until after the appetizers are served.  Plus you got sushi which takes longer.  I say, so what you are saying is, it is MY FAULT that it is taking so long because we wanted apps? She said no that's not it. It's just we don't put orders in until apps come out. I them asked her why they wouldn't just communicate that they are short staffed amd that, while we can be seated right away, it will be a while before the hibachi chef will be able to make it to our table. That's when her CSR voice came out and she said yes ma'am I will be sure to do that next time.  I know at that point she isn't listening anymore (if she ever was) so I went back to my table.  Which, by the way, now had a chef at, as well as 2 other tables. The three chefs, that finished their previous tables at different intervals, all came out at the same time to work at the tables. Hibachi service was eh at best. If you have been to hibachi you know the chefs usually interact with the guests and put on a little show. He does the onion train fire and thats about it. Is it because he is exhausted being 1 of 3 on a busy Holiday?  Maybe. Is it because we conplained about service? I dont know. Food was pretty good, with the exception of my mother's lobster tail. That was so overcooked you could barely bite through it. When she brought that up to the waiter, he just said ok, sorry and dismissed it. No offer of trying to make it right.  So she went to the manager to have the lobster removed from the bill. At the same time, the waiter came back and said that they can redo the lobster for her to take home. I advised, talk to her, it's her food.  She chose to have it removed.  I don't know if they were doing this for all the moms, or something happened at the table next to us, but the moms each got a small sweet treat at the end of the meal and the waitress told them Happy Mother's day. I thought it was super sweet. That of course did NOT happen at our table. But, like I said, I do not know if that was a Mother's Day thing or just something that particular waitress did. So, was it a complete disaster?  No it wasn't. Will I be back? Absolutely not.  You should not be filling all 8 tables when you only have 3 chefs. If you have ever eaten at hibachi, you know it is very loud.  We knew this going in. But if we are waiting an hour for the chef, it's not like we can have a nice casual conversation. Should have just gone to the Big Sombrero like we talked about. On a positive note, my mom treated us to Chiller Bees on the way home, which is always a hit. Free for moms!!  I was shocked!!  Yogurt AND toppings . Happy Mother's Day everyone. Hope yours was memorable in a better way than mine.

Yelp
This is a great location, beautiful view and wonderful food! I'm a huge fan of teppanyaki, and this is my go to place. I would say give other items on their menu a try, they have great sushi, and their tempura is some of my favorite. If you're looking for a great dinner, or a fun place for a large group celebration this is a great option!! Do not miss!!

Katherine H.

Yelp
I feel this restaurant would benefit from outdoor hibachi.Even a black-stone grill will be a great addition.i just feel if your going to offer outdoor lake side seating you should offer lakefront hibachi

Derek M.

Yelp
Visited during off-peak hours around 3 PM. The restaurant offers both traditional seating and hibachi options. Service was prompt though our server was clearly in training. The sushi rolls were the highlight - both the Shaggy Dog and New Orleans rolls came in generous portions and were delicious. However, the Teppanyaki chicken was disappointing. While the accompanying vegetables were well-prepared and the sauce was flavorful, the chicken itself was overcooked and very dry.

Yelp
Beautiful views, delicious food, and excellent service. Each staff member was extremely friendly and kind. We went on a Monday over lunch and were the only ones on the patio. We enjoyed the view of the lake with good lunch specials! I had a piña colada and wow wow it was good and huge! I also had the chicken teppanyaki lunch special which comes with fried rice and your choice of soup or salad. I'm a sucker for the salad! You get a lot of food, I was so full and had leftovers! Loved the meal and many kudos for the service.

Yelp
Every thing was wrong a RAT CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE Hibachi table I will never go there again, filthy sticky floors, and rats

Yelp
Came for hibachi. We were seated immediately. There are several hibachi tables and plenty of indoor restaurant seating. There's a nice view of Lake Conroe, through the large windows. Overall, the restaurant was very clean. There weren't many people when we arrived, but after being seated, a few more people joined our hibachi table. The waiter came by and took our drink orders a few moments later a waitress came by and took our food order. I ordered the appetizer dumplings and never received them, not sure if the order was not heard or if they were just forgotten. However, they were not on the check, so no harm done, although I would have liked to try them. The hibachi chef presentation itself was entertaining. The food was cooked to everyone's specifications. However, the beef and shrimp were not as flavorful as we would have liked they lacked something, not sure exactly what, but they were definitely lacking in flavor. My boyfriend and I shared a hibachi combination meal, my son had his own hibachi meal. Bf & I had 1 alcoholic drink ea, my son had a soda. Overall a decent experience and a decent meal. The fact that they have no wait is always a plus. We paid over $130 for three people, just so you have an idea of the pricing. Would I return? Possibly, if I really wanted hibachi and my go-to place was too packed to get it. Unfortunately nothing about the place had the "wow" factor, just another typical Asian restaurant to get hibachi
google avatar

Yelp
Got door dash delivery. Shrimp nigiri was spoiled shrimp. VERY string smell of ammonia. Impossible that the sushi chef didn't smell it while he was cutting it. That tells me their sushi is pre-made and sits around. If I wanted pre-made crap sushi/nigiri, I could get it at Kroger and it would still be fresher than this. They should be ashamed to sell this garbage! Will NEVER order from them again. We threw everything out for fear of illness but only got refunded for the sushi. I believe their direct competitor has way better quality of food. I'll go there and avoid food poisoning thank you very much!

Yelp
On an attempt to have a decent dinner, close to home, after work..no dishes..we FINALLY tried this Shogun location. While the inside is sleek and modern with seemingly quick turn around time on food, the price and quality were questionable. Expect a 2.50 up charge for fried rice and for the dishes to be avg $20-$30 each. "Traditional" dishes (protein/minimal veggies/cup of rice) came with two shrimp, which one of mine was raw..gray on the inside-after chewing into it. The bartender was good to replace them with new ones. There's a decent beer selection on tap. A lot of sushi rolls that are sizable.. if you're into the imitation crab, tempura flakes and sauces. The portions are decent, and if your food is still hot when you get it, it could be a decent experience. Pros: The servers & the bartender were definitely making an effort. Cons: The onion soup has a fishy taste. Unsure if this is normal, but my husband also noted this. Preparation/cook time could be more accurate. A tad pricey, especially for not actually sitting at the hibachi tables.

Yelp
The food was amazing! But the service was not as nice, we had hibachi dinner and the chef was amazing. The server seemed new to the profession. Trouble keeping drinks full, empty plates picked up. Then tried to give us our check the moment the chef finished, before anyone at the table had a chance to eat the meal they just had prepared. Another guest at the table expressed their frustration with this and the server was then a ghost until we left.

Yelp
Interesting evolution. We had less than exciting experiences our first few visits and stayed away for a while. We started going back mid-August and it's just better. We're getting cooked and raw fish, cooked chicken and beef, lots of different dishes, and finding quite a few things that are good here. This is not top flight sushi but it's well done and well priced. The interior is light, airy and classy and there's never a line - not even close. As a plus, they removed the phalanx of ashtrays from the patio, although at 108° this summer no one's out there just yet. They even have a little robot that rolls up and announces your dishes. This won't win any awards for super fresh or original sushi but it's comfortable and accessible and fairly priced. One suggestion for owners/managers: get rid of those plexiglass screens on the patio. They're hopelessly stained and cloudy and outright unappetizing. Get some wire strand fencing out there or some simple wrought iron. Other than that we've got no complaints. We're happy to add it to our rotation, especially as we learn the menu and find the best things they make.

Yelp
Meeting ran late on a Wednesday and everything was closing. We didn't want to arrive too late so we picked the first spot not closing in 30. We ordered quickly. Had the steak and shrimp combination. Food out quickly. Soup was warm. Salad was crispy and fresh. Our food was decent. The veggies were drenched in sauce. Steak and shrimp was ok. Half way through workers were mopping which was understandable but goodness...

Rick M.

Yelp
This place rocks! Food is fresh and delicious. Great view of the lake and outside seating :) John has this place going. Servers were great and answered all our questions.

Yelp
Eat here if you want food poisoning. Chicken was served very undercooked. .I was alone and seated queen a party of 5. I didn't eat my chicken and noticed that hadn't either. We all had the same worry. It was rubbery, undercooked. We told the waitress. She said she would tell management. No one ever came to talk to us. We just got the bill. Usually raw chicken doesn't cost this much. This place needs to go out of business and make way for a good restaurant

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try out the newly opened Shogun. What a great experience! We went for an early dinner around 3:30 on a Wednesday. It was almost empty and it gave me a chance to look around without disturbing anyone. Very tall windows allow plenty of light and great views to the Lake Conroe inlet that it faces. I saw many different sized tables and chairs out on the covered patio to accommodate plenty of folks during this great weather. (Contrary to another reviewer, not an ashtray to be seen.) We were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. Water and sake's were served within minutes by our awesome server, Fransisca. We opted for dinner Bento boxes; One Unaju (Eel) and one Shrimp Tempura. We were frequent customers in the Spring location years ago when it opened, and back then the bento's came with tempura vegetables instead of teppanyaki veggies. So we requested to sub the teppanyaki and they agreed for a $1 upcharge. We also subbed Miso soup for Onion soup. The Miso soup was delicious. We were so happy about this because 2 other well known Japanese eateries in the area make it like dish water! My husband was born and raised in Japan and we enjoy it as much as we can when we can get it made well. I would have liked it hotter. The salad was crisp and fresh. The dressing was yummy as well. I could drink that stuff! Our server Fransisca timed everything just right and always had a smile on her face. It was really nice. I had forgotten the dinner bento comes with tempura shrimp already. I had a mound of shrimp (Yummm - you can never have too much shrimp!) We were so stuffed we brought half home and ate it today. My husband had the Unaju and it was tasty but not served as a filet as usual; but as slices like sushi. It made for a small dinner portion and he wasn't happy about it. (Especially because it's his favorite.) The seaweed salad was tasty, as was the crab meat puff. We never got the Harumaki (Japanese Spring roll) and never realized it until just now. But we did get the sauces for them and they were tasty too. We both felt the Tempura Shrimp could have been cooked a slight bit longer, but it still had good flavor. The tempura vegetables were crunchy and tender - perfect. I was unaware that I paid extra for fried instead of steamed rice ($2.50). It didn't taste fried. The oranges need to go seedless but were a nice and sweet palette cleanser. *wink* All in all, we are happy to have a Shogun so close. Everyone was friendly and attentive. It was clean, comfortable and satisfying with a great view. We will be back to try other things. (Can't wait to do a Sushi night!!)

Yelp
Quick lunch with an almost empty restaurant at 11am on Saturday. Had a little trouble ordering a sushi roll. The server punched an incorrect button on the machine. Rice was great. Steak was great. Sushi was pretty good. We will try it again.

Pauline D.

Yelp
We ordered food to go and after getting home, realized some items were missing. I called the restaurant to let them know. They were so sorry about the mistake. They delivered our missing items immediately with no fee. Very good service. We truly appreciated that.

Yelp
Love this place. Great food and great staff! We come here often for good times. Crab Salad and a Crown Apple Sour! Never lets us down.

Yelp
Foods good. Ambiance is pleasant. Service is attentive. All is nice!! Nuff said; go and enjoy!!

Yelp
Not sure why the low reviews, but this is they best sushi weve had anywhere in the Conroe area. Server was attentive and knew the menu. From appetizer to dessert. It was great. Even better in this location we can watch the boats on the lake.

Yelp
The food is top notch but the service is even better! The GM John is absolutely incredible at what he does, i see him encouraging his employees and ensuring his customers are having a great experience. The bartenders here are solid especially Brandon. This man always takes care of us and Christine is always helpful!!! Absolutely love this place, we feel like they're family! 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Love the food here and they have the best sushi. Everything I have eaten here has always been good.

Yelp
Went this past weekend to get Habatchi ordered the teriyaki steak. Soup was good. Salad was good but not only did they forget to put teriyaki sauce on the steak we ordered it medium and got jerky. Basically it was so well done! There was two other parties at our hibachi table they didn't eat their food as well. We did not know them. It was all so awful, and then they brought us a side of teriyaki sauce out because they noticed that we weren't eating the food. Even after complaining nothing was done really disappointed will not be going back.
google avatar

Joe K.

Yelp
Stay away! 3 of us had dinner there last night. 2 of us had soft shell crab. The 2 of us that ate the crab have been vomiting all night. This restaurant served us poison!

Kurt H.

Yelp
The ambiance is like another fancy Hibachi grill. The food is good and plentiful. The servers try to get the guests involved in their shows.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed. Shogun has always been one of my favorites. We were so excited that the Montgomery location opened up because it is right by our house. Tonight we went for the first time. We were the only two guests at our hibachi. The food was not good. The shrimp and vegetables were not cooked long enough. The rice was not good at all. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Great service !! The hibachi chef we had was the best. You can tell this store has quality staff and I can't wait to come back. 10/10

Rocco B.

Yelp
Food is good. Place is a bit dirty. Not filthy, but just don't get a god vibe. I can't explain it. The food is good but you have to look past the vibe.

Mark B.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. We had a frustrating experience down the street at Monty's and decided to try Shogun. Nice view of the lake and reasonably priced. We loved it!

Yelp
This place is incredible I will sure come back. Nice people good food. Over all my experience was great.
