I agree with other customers that The food has been getting worse. The rice is often crunchy (not sure if it is undercooked or stale) and even fried it wasn't worth eating this last trip. I made sure to order $60 worth of food to stay within my budget. When I receive My bill it was $136.00. I overpaid for very mediocre service and food. The staff who cooked our food at this Japanese restaurant spoke Spanish with the family from Mexico the entire time as if they all knew each other. We pretty much got ignored the entire time. I don't see why my bill was over $100. They charged $18 for gratuity and $8 for taxes and charged for extra rice. Just money hungry. Why sit is with others if you are going to make us share then overspend. Don't go here if you are African American. Honestly, you will regret it . The floors are sticky and the food needed some flavor. I do not recommend.

We've given this location several chances and keep running into mediocre service and poor food quality. Service wise, the host stand is not great. They seem very confused, don't communicate (on the phone while dealing with us) other than hand waves and look put out. A couple times we've had waiters tell us the host stand didn't tell them they had a table waiting. The general upkeep looks rough, lots of tears on chairs, beat up menus that look burnt and things looking grungy. The food has been getting worse. The rice is often crunchy (not sure if it is undercooked or stale) and even fried it wasn't worth eating this last trip. The portion sizes were fine but the chicken was overcooked and dry. The hibachi chef was entertaining, and our waiter kept our drinks filled which was a bonus, no complains about them. But as an overall experience we won't be coming back. And I love hibachi overall so this is a sad review to make.

Google
The food AMAZING. The service IMPECCABLE. The atmosphere very nice. This is a great date night spot or place to have a party. The outside has a beautiful waterfall and they play live music on the weekends so definitely a go to spot!

Google
We had our infant son with us and decided to forego the hibachi and just dine in. The rolls were superb and generously priced. Their menu had pictures of all the rolls which was very appreciated. Highly recommend.

Google
It was a really good experience! It was fun to see it get cooked in front of me as well as it was delicious 😋

Google
We recently visited this restaurant for the first time to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, and our chef was extremely entertaining. As well, we were appreciative that the restaurant reached out to us to inform us that our reservation had been changed by 30 minutes to ensure they accommodated all of our guests, however upon our arrival, we still had to wait to be seated. Con: If you have a large party for the hibachi, all guests must be present before they seat you.

Google
The food is good but the place is not what I expected. It disappointed that I could see lots of cleaning products, including a mop from my table. The waiter was not even paying attention to us (considering the restaurant was almost empty). The shopping center makes you think you would have a cleaner place with a better service

Google
It was very quiet here on a Friday night for some reason. The service was polite, not too over the top. While the sushi and dumplings were tasty, portions could have been a little larger for their prices. Their sushi chef also needs a little work in tightening his roll work. The restaurant itself was also in need of a deep cleaning of the floors and booths.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Shogun. Honestly, the food isn't too bad, but for the price, I think you can definitely get better options when at Vintage Park. They give you onion soup to start, not bad. I got the Eel Bento Box for lunch, and it's a good amount of food to get you full. I didn't like the rice though. We got a couple rolls and they were all decent. Based off my standards, I wouldn't go back. Subpar. We went during lunch. Service was very slow because there was only one server running the floor, but he was nice and I could tell he tried to tend to us as much as possible.

Yelp
I love sho gun! This location has to be on the lower end of them though. I was craving specifically steak fried rice with a side of yum yum sauce (got the meal bc I was craving the yum yum sauce). Idk if every location has a different version of the yum yum sauce but the one off 2920 & the one in Conroe yum yum sauce taste the same but this one taste like straight horseradish, very bitter and tangy. I was not impressed. The fried rice was delicious as always but was upset because the sauce was the entire purpose to order.

Yelp
Definitely a fun experience having your food prepared in front of you with a little show. Staff is always very attentive and chefs are always entertaining. Food portions are fairly big. We had a large party so we all opted for the hibachi grilled meals. Shrimp was not skimpy at all. Food is always tasty but they always have the condiments on hand if you need a little extra. Our meals came with a small salad and soup. Great spot if you're looking for an entertaining dinner experience. Since this is located in the center of the Vintage you can walk the meal off visiting the stores afterwards or just enjoy the water fountains and sometimes live bands in the center courtyard.

Yelp
Spent $70 with tip for a kids meal and bento box. $6.50 for soft drinks? $18 for a kids meal doesn't include a drink?? I would have ordered water. Filet minon was chewy and COLD!!! I didn't pay $30 for cold steak. I see why there were only 2 customers. Extremely disappointed. They need to put something else in this place it's a waste of space. Waiters sitting around on their phone. Will never come back. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place because it was close to home but were greatly disappointed. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, a sushi roll, and frshrimp tempura. I forgot which one. The rice was very hard like it wasn't cooked properly they lay about 8 shrimp on top and that's all you get with a large bed of right. The shrimp have some type of sauce on them that does nothing for flavor or the rice. The sushi roll was okay I've had better. The shrimp tempura was greasy and not good at all. We will not be back here I'm sorry.

Yelp
they threw away my pizza :(. it had parmesian cheese but and I'm gluten free. My sister was going to bring it to me because my wheelchair wouldn't fit in the car so I waited at home. When she came back she said the staff threw away my pizza :(. 0/10 don't bring pizza to shogu.

Yelp
Oops, Went there for lunch today. But server said they were closed. ICE showed up and took all kitchen staff. They are now hiring.

Yelp
The service was slow. The rice was terrible, it was hard. We let them know & they brought us rice with no flavor what so ever. Also he asked how we wanted our steak cooked, we said medium rare and well done. He did not care, he cooked all the steak well done so it was super chewy for me. Over all I would not come back, the sushi was the only alright thing. Never again, don't waste your time or money. It was Father's Day & we did not enjoy this experience.

Yelp
A lot of waiters going here and there in a hurry but slow service. Food just ok. Place not like it was so will die out and close at this pace. Waiter finally took order the went straight to answer phone. So delayed in putting our order in. Coke and tea took 15 minutes. Crazy Wife got her shushi roll I never did get mine. Never. I told him just forget it. Need the bill. Of course it was wrong. Charged me for four salads ? We had two. Total time 50 minutes wasted AVOid this place like the plaque. Won't be back ‼ You been warned .....

Yelp
Stopped in for a late dinner, and we were glad they were still open. Not really busy which was good. We tried a variety of things such as the banzi dinner combo w/extra fried rice (this is enough for two people), which came with a soup and salad. I opted for the onion - a bit bland, but had the onion flavor. We also ordered the shaggy & OMG roll and a sprite and apple juice for my son. The rolls were good and quite filling. The banzi dinner wasn't bad either. Our waiter was quite attentive & concerned my husband didn't want anything to drink personally, so he offered a hot green tea w/lemon which was a nice touch. Overall, Nice spot and good service from what we experienced. I would return for drinks as it seems they have a nice line up.

Melissa G.

Yelp
I went to dinner with my entire family for my son 13th birthday he was so excited about his ice cream cake to share with his family that I provided the server took my sons cake to another table that was having a birthday and they ate the cake. I don't understand why the server gave the table my son's birthday cake. That had his name on it. Mind you the table having a birthday was a female and my son is a male. The manager never made contact with our table for the terrible mess up, my son was devastated about his cake. Not to mention that it was $163 for my husband, son and my dinner. I will never be going

Yelp
We had a Habachi dinner for a work event. The food was delicious & the server & bartender were a 10 out of 10! The cook was not entertaining thou, which is 1/2 the experience. Will go back thou because the food & drinks were great.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was ok, the chef on the grill was entertaining, however, the service lacked many capabilities. We booked the private room for 20 attendees celebrating wife's birthday, on the phone followed with in person visit to check the place and confirm our needs and understanding of the deliverables. We arrived only to discover that they gave out the promised private room to a party less than half of our group. Then after they sat us on a table to host all of us, they assigned us one waiter to take our drinks order for seventeen people that took for ever and the same for food order. The manager didn't acknowledge the mess up, took no responsibility and offered no compensation for their short fall in anyway. In summary, we will not be back and now you are warned of this restaurant short coming.

Yelp
by far the worst shogun I've been to. if you like shogun, don't come here. and somehow it's the same... people working here from over a year ago, the last time I came to this location. Service is dog crap. rice is stale. When you walk in and the place is almost completely empty, there's your sign.
google avatar

Patrick F.

Yelp
Sushi rolls and nigiri were both okay. However, was disappointed in the service received. We ordered food to pick up through their own website and showed up on time given to pick up. They were not even aware they received an order until I talked to them (it was on a printer they had missed completely). Since they missed the order, had to just sit there for 15 mins while they prepared. They didn't offer anything to make up for dropping the ball like most restaurants would do - where is the customer service?
google avatar

Yelp
We went to Vintage Park to eat at Peli Peli and when we got there, the restaurant was closed, so despite the bad reviews we were so hungry we decided to try Shogun since they're directly across the way. Now I know why they have bad reviews. The service and the food were bad. The waiter seemed to be annoyed in general and the food was nothing special. Won't ever be back!

Yelp
Came here from out of town with my family from Galveston Tx, and was not treated the best and would just like to point out that my 7 year old daughter pointed out our server Cianna mims who was involved in a hit and run with a very well known doctor in Galveston tx. Do not recommend nor did my children and family enjoy seeing a person who did something like that.. never again Careful for all you bike/walkers out there https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2022/03/24/parents-of-woman-who-owns-mercedes-allegedly-involved-in-hit-and-run-that-killed-galveston-doctor-provide-evidence-in-case-documents-show/

Yelp
It really is a shame that a bad hostess can ruin your experience. I was excited to come here with my family for my birthday. We're a big party and would've been a big ticket but the hostess was extremely rude and we were left waiting for twenty minutes for a table when the restaurant was dead and there was plenty of staff standing around chit chatting. Not a good look and to receive a bad attitude from the first person you see? My family waited it out with me because it was where I wanted to go, but eventually I felt like it was ruining the occasion so we left and had an amazing experience at Mia Bella Trattoria across the fountain. We won't give them another chance when there are other restaurants with great service in the area.

Yelp
I really enjoy going here for birthday parties, but have been here just because I wanted hibachi. They are very quick once they sit you down and memorize what everybody wants. We enjoy the entertainment of having the food cooked in front of us and everything is always delicious.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Very sad this place has gone downhill. They really need to train the staff better on acknowledging their customers. With such a prime location & so much competition around, they can't afford to be so nonchalant towards their customers. They had a greeter who was nice, but she was by herself and the other staff was walking around prior to her being at the front and didn't even look at us or tell her wee were there. We were a party of 8 who wanted Hibachi and expected that there would be a wait, but after we checked in, we waited 20 minutes with no follow-up and ended up leaving.
google avatar

Jessica O.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday evening with no reservation. We were seated without a wait. We sat in the dining area not the hibachi. It was relaxed with tvs playing fights on one screen and Wheel of Fortune on another. Our server was friendly. We began with onion soup, calamari and spring rolls. It was all delicious but I have to mention the calamari specifically. It was the most tender we've had at any of the local sushi restaurants. Everything was fresh and yummy. The rolls could have had a bit more flavor it they were still very good. That's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.
google avatar

Adam F.

Yelp
While the restaurant has a nice decor, the food preparation was bottom dollar shite. We ordered seaweed salad, pot stickers, hot sake and a Sapporo and two combination dinners. The dinners came with soup, which was literally a watery North Korean grass soup knockoff. The salad was utter shite iceberg lettuce with more prison style watery dressing which ironically left a thicker gruel in the bottom of the bowl than the soup. The potstickers had char on them, burnt and clinging all about them. The combination dinners came with charred covered grilled vegetables, ok amount but just a sweet sauce protein. The two accompanying sauces were, you guessed it, watery. The sake was sour. The second star came from the staff. Both the hostess and the waiter were faultless, however I'm pretty sure the head chef just did a dime in San Quentin before landing a job at this shit shack.
google avatar

Justin V.

Yelp
First and last time here. The waitress was rude with a smile and did not provide basic customer service. Which includes bringing water, placing the correct order and charging extra for menu items not requested. A very awkward family sat with us and proceeded to bring down the whole experience with attitude and a lack of manners. Would not recommend whatsoever! Dude cooking was the saving grace.
google avatar

Geovani R.

Yelp
This is my favorite shogun location because I know I can always count on chef Tony to put on a good show! My family and I (party of 6) walked in on Father's Day weekend and the wait was only 30 minutes. The dinner combination is always a big portion and I always need a box to go. Thank you shogun for entertaining the kids with the hibachi and an awesome Father's Day dinner.

Yelp
Not worth the money at all! fried rice was subpar and the filet was low quality meat.. In my opinion, i think it was probably just a tenderized sirloin! The cook was not very entertaining.. He didn't even try! Crying toddler was at the next table.. there goes the ambiance!! We got over charged on the bill on top of all that!! It was a bday celebration but we opted out from a complimentary dessert!! we just want to get out of there!

Tony W.

Yelp
Shogun has really gotten disappointing with the quality of their food and service. This specific location my wife and grandchildren could not enjoy something as simple as Chicken Fried Rice. It was not an warm and very tough to eat.
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
We were seated promptly by the hostess upon arrival. Food tasted alright but very American. Service was mediocre.
google avatar

Evelyn Z.

Yelp
Terrible service! Waited one hour for a chef to be available even though we had made reservations. We had a terribly mediocre experience. Don't bother coming here.

Blake B.

Yelp
Have been here a few times. When eating in, it's been fine. Chicken fried rice and sushi are always great. We got takeout last night and ordered our usual chicken fried rice. Not only did the Rice not have its usual sauce on it and the chicken, it was also clumped together. The chicken was also dry and basically flavorless since it didn't have the sauce. We were really looking forward to our food but it was a total disappointment and waste of money. Sushi was fine as usual, but we had to throw the rice away. On top of this, we also had to wait 40 minutes longer than what our online order said. Pretty unacceptable. I don't think we will be giving them another try.
google avatar

Darla L.

Yelp
We went last Sunday and the food was terrible. We spent $80 for a family of 4 to eat what my kids described as "worse than the school cafeteria" food.
google avatar

Yelp
Visit was 03/92/2020 for lunch. The place is located in Vintage Park, that offers plenty of parking, but be careful as not all spots are open for restaurant visits. When we came to the main door there was a sign that said: "Use Left Door", but that was locked. Not sure if it is meant to be funny or just someone can't distinguish between left and right lol. The place is quite big but was almost empty when we came in. We wanted to sit at the bar and the receptionist handed us the menus out and guided us to the seats. We spent around 5 to 10 minutes until someone came to take care of us. We ordered a variety of sushi and sashimi and the quality was average, the pricing more on the upper end for such a place. Once the waiter was assigned to us the service was very good.
google avatar

Luna Q.

Yelp
We had the hibachi style dinner. Our chef never said a word to us. Very quite. Didn't do anything special. Only the spinning of egg. I've seen others where they are very entertaining. The chicken was chewy. The scallops were good. And my shrimp had all the seeds of lemon. I mean all of them. I at least took out six of them. Very annoying. Will not do hibachi style again. Not worth it.
google avatar

Shanna H.

Yelp
Nothing that we ordered was good. It was overcooked and had no taste. Has gone downhill for sure. The bathroom was nasty.
google avatar

Laura Y.

Yelp
Hamachi Sushi was excellent! Better than other Japanese restaurants near by. Softshell Crab was a little bit oily, but cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. We didn't have to wait. We went in early around 330p on a Tuesday.

Carey A.

Yelp
Slow and disorganized service. Meat lacked flavor. Menus were dirty, floor was sticky. Host didn't seem happy to be there
google avatar

Brittani V.

Yelp
Service was horrible. 30 minutes to be acknowledged by our waiter to get a glass of water. Communication between staff members seems to be non-existent. 1 hour later of being sat down no food was brought out nor was our order taken. There was no wait to be sat just horrible service. Never coming again.

Christian R.

Yelp
Restaurant smells like sewage. Woman's bathroom smells like cat piss. We endured since we drove 30mins for hibachi... service was slow (it was not busy). Sushi was not fresh. We had steak, shrimp and salmon... main "seasoning" is butter/margarine. They do not serve yumyum sauce.. you will need something to get through the meal! We used teriyaki sauce... never again
google avatar

Blake H.

Yelp
Hibachi food was good but nothing that stood out. The showmanship was really lacking. Very basic and not entertaining. Cocktails taste good but not a lot of alcohol in them. Stay away from the sushi! We took one bite and were like "nope!!"
google avatar

Theresa R.

Yelp
Very disappointed in service. We had 1 waitress for 25 people. She was such in a rush it took 4 times to try telling her I wanted sushi. The cook for our side of grill was 20 minutes late. Had no personality and acted stupid when I asked for the dipping sauces. I found a long hair in my sushi. They still had me pay for it. No stats given.
google avatar

Nikia H.

Yelp
Pretty cool experience nothing to write home about. The chef puts on a great show at the table. They do tricks with the ingredients and toss food so that you can catch it with your mouth. I think they were having some kind of sewer problem because the restroom reeked. That kinda throws off the whole experience.

Ayaan A.

Yelp
Worst service imaginable. Got there instantly got a table, which you might be thinking "That's great, fast service". No. Once we're seated it took 10 minutes to even be asked for our drinks. After sitting for 30 minutes a "chef" didn't show up to our table. As a result we simply walked out. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT give this place your service and time
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Tried to have a nice Sunday dinner here. Got there a bit before the full dinner crowd. Restaurant was nearly empty, yet we were told that a table of 3 would take 45 minutes to seat us. We thought he was joking, but unfortunately he wasn't. Took our business elsewhere and had a great time.
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
The hostess was friendly and kind, and We were excited to have some sushi to accompany our lovely cocktails prepared by the bartender. We ordered a dish that included tuna and salmon sashimi. When the food came out, the tuna cuts were BROWN and salmon wasn't it's bright color and looked as if it were starting to crumble. We returned it immediately and didn't get a response from management at all when we decided not to reorder. Not even an apology. We were instead, directed to try one of the cooked dishes if we didn't want to risk another raw option. WOW... that was the strangest experience ever, considering that spoiled, raw seafood could seriously injure or kill a person. Just thought I should put it out there to check your food quality if you plan on eating here.

Chunky M.

Yelp
This Shogun was so very good overall. Service was great. The host was kind, servers gave great service, and the chef was great! We did hibachi grille and food tasted great!! Clean, nice, and no wait on a Sunday for lunch!

Lisa W.

Yelp
I had my son's graduation dinner here the customer service was horrible, the price quality of the food wasn't worth the price at all. I'm glad we enjoyed the people that were at the graduation and didn't focus on the food. My party was not impressed by the food at all and we spent allot of money. That was my first and last time going.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Don't be open from 11:30am to 10pm if your employees aren't in it and you're annoyed. Hibachi isn't intended to be "delivered," you pay for the show. Having a "date" with my daughter and coming into lethargic and somewhat annoyed waiters and chef's is gross. The chef didn't even offer ginger sauce!!!! They're lucky I tipped 25% on my $75 dollar tab with the attitude but I will support the service industry. What I won't support, is this Shogun ever again and I only came here because the other location has horrid food. I'll drive my a-s-s to Benihana or any other hibachi restaurant next time I want hibachi at 4pm since it's such a hassle for them.

Thor's H.

Yelp
Found this in our to go meal. It appears to be a bristle from the brushes they use to clean off the grills. Thank God my husband didn't swallow it; those can do some serious damage to your innards.

Bruh B.

Yelp
Horrifying, atrocious, dismaying. That's how I would described "shogun" if asked. From the start our waitress was rude and pushy. The waitress was basically trying to hurry us up to getting a drink and order food. Not only that but the entire time we were there the waitress didn't crack a smile, grin, or smirk she looked mad as can be. But, the worst part is that we told our waitress that two people in our party were allergic to shellfish (There was 6 of us , 2 of us had steak , 2 had chicken , and 2 had shrimp).Upon telling our waitress this she took no course of action and let our server make our food all with the same utensils including touching the chicken with the same spatula as he was using whilst cooking the shrimp. If someone in your party had not caught this error someone could have been severely hurt , this could also end very bad and may have even kill one of us. After this the waitress dint offer a refund, she said the chefs would prepare both if there meals in the back. When they brought the food out 20 -25 minutes later they only brought enough for one person. Despite the shellfish cross contamination issue I had to blink my eyes to make sure I saw the right price for a scallop. $17.99 for a KIDS MEAL. I though I was hallucinating when I saw this. I could have ate for less than that , keep in mind the kids meals were for age 10 and under. Astonishing. And don't even think about moving seats, two people in our party moved seats to be closer to other guest and were lectured by staff and our waitress. When there soups came out , she put there food where they were sitting before moving to prove a point. Completely unacceptable. Not only these problems when we tried to tell the waiter after the shellfish problem three staff member came out of the kitchen laughing and when questioned, stayed quite. Upon asking for the manager, the staff members told us she was on break. After hearing this we requested when she got off break she shall call us and left a number. After calling the establishment multiple times asking for the manager the finally got a call from Bridget (the manager) she was very helpful and the only nice person there. We are not expecting a call from corporate. And not to mention the establishment was run by half dressed teens that have lack of training or knowledge, laugh a everything and are of no help. Needless to say I will not be going back EVER.

Jeremia E.

Yelp
Walked in to an empty restaurant. The hostess says. "Wait here let me see if my waiters are caught up before i seat you." like that is our problem. The food comes and the waiter says he forgot the meal came with a soup and salad. We expected more. Will not be back.
