0.5/5- I just can't get over the terrible experience my friends, my husband, and I had at this restaurant last night, October 29, 2025, around 11-11:30 PM. I initially wanted to write this review as soon as I got home, but decided to sleep on it, hoping I'd feel better in the morning. Unfortunately, I woke up still deeply upset about what happened.
It was truly one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Never have we been treated with such rudeness and discrimination. My friends and I are all professional nurses, and my husband is a retired veteran. We don't usually mention this--since it shouldn't matter when it comes to receiving basic respect--but the way we were treated last night was completely unacceptable and deeply insulting.
After coming from a comedy show at UH, we were all hungry and searched for an open restaurant nearby. We were thrilled to see that this restaurant was open 24 hours. When we arrived, there were only two people waiting ahead of us, and the restaurant wasn't full--several tables were open, and the bar was mostly empty. We asked for a table for four, but the hostess told us there would be a 25-30 minute wait. She did not give us other options like the bar maybe, which was obviously not filled up. We were actually okay to sit anywhere because we were just hungry.
Since it was late and we were starving, I asked if we could just order our food to go. The hostess, who seemed irritated, said she couldn't take our order because she was busy, and told us to order online instead because it would be faster. Although it felt unusual, we complied and placed our order online while standing inside the restaurant. The order was supposed to be ready in about 15 minutes.
While waiting, one of my friends asked if we could sit at the bar since it was 75% empty. The bartender politely said it was fine, so we sat down and decided to order drinks while we waited. After some time, we noticed our takeout order was taking longer than expected. One of my friends asked the hostess if we could eat our takeout at the bar since we were already ordering drinks. She said she would ask, but when she came back, she handed us our takeout and told us we could not eat our food there and should go home to eat it.
We found this confusing and frustrating because there were other customers eating ramen at the bar. We asked if we could just convert our to-go order into a dine-in order since we were already there and drinking, but she refused and walked away without further explanation.
The bartender, who had been very kind, told us he personally didn't see any problem with us eating there, so we decided to start eating quietly at the bar. A few minutes later, another staff member approached us and told us we were not allowed to eat our food there because there was a line waiting to be seated at the bar. When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one available.
At that point, I was very upset. I told him how rude and unprofessional it was to treat paying customers that way--especially when we had ordered both food and drinks from the restaurant. He said it was "their policy." I wished I would've asked for a copy of this policy because I have never encountered anything like that before. I really would love to see one!
What made it worse was the double standard--others were eating at the bar, but we were told we couldn't. We were not loud, we were not causing trouble, and we had ordered respectfully like any other customers. It honestly felt discriminatory and humiliating.
I wish I had taken the names of the hostess and the staff member who confronted us, because no customer should ever be made to feel so unwelcome and disrespected. This experience completely ruined what should have been a fun and simple late-night meal after a show.
The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely the worst. And based on many of the other low-rated reviews I've read since, poor service seems to be a recurring problem here.
The food was just okay--nothing special. There are far better ramen places in the area that serve authentic Japanese flavors and treat customers with genuine hospitality. The only reason we chose this place was because it was open late, but sadly, the experience left a terrible impression.
For reference, we are four Asian customers, and the way we were treated made us feel unwelcome and discriminated against. No one should ever experience that.
