The Shops at Merrick Park is an outdoor shopping mall located in Coral Gables. It opened in 2002. Parking is $10 in the mall garage but I was able to find much cheaper metered street parking surrounding the mall. The major drawback to this mall is that parking is not free,
I mainly came to the Shops at Merrick Park to check out the temporary art exhibition, Los Trompos on display in the courtyard. It is actually the public art that is my favorite part of this mall. Merrick Park has 91 high end stores, like Neiman Marcus, Jimmy Choo, L'Occitane, Lilly Pulitzer, Louis Vuitton, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and Tommy Bahama. Sit down restaurants include Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, Yard House, and Sawa Restaurant & Lounge. There is also a movie theater, The Landmark at Merrick Park, Coral Gables. The mall holds a lot of classes, demos, activities, and events. During my visit they were having an outdoor local artist market.
This outdoor mall is exceptionally beautiful. They did a great job of using the principals of design executed by Coral Gables founder George Merrick, The mall uses the coral rock and Mediterranean Revival design that you see throughout Coral Gables. The stores are a little more expensive than my taste but I would consider coming back to check out some of the restaurants.
