Shore Rider Bar was the perfect spot to celebrate our son’s 18th birthday after an evening swim! The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and a total hit with our group. Even though we arrived late, our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, kindly letting us know the kitchen was closing soon while ensuring we had plenty of time to order. The service and atmosphere made the night extra special. Highly recommend this place for delicious eats and great vibes!

There used to be a burger, tater tots, and beer here, but they were delicious so I eated them right up. Friendly laid back attitude with extra beachy vibes. Great place to pull up and watch the game with sand still between your toes. Wide selection of local brews, and well made fare. Cozy, tasty, friendly as can be. Great place to bring your squad for a good time.

We got a bite and a drink here before our kayak tour- it was a great beachy vibe, delicious tacos, and a good margarita! The place was huge and wasn’t too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Nathan helped us out at the bar and he was really nice. We ended up doing fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Both were so good! The fish tacos were a nice chunk of fish and are not to be missed.

Had lunch with family here. I really wanted to give them more stars because I was enjoying the kale salad with chicken but there was a hair in it and it completely ruined my appetite. Brownie points for them because they didn’t charge me for it.

We popped into Shore Rider on a whim after a beach day, and it turned out to be a great choice! It was busy, but the space is large and open, so it didn’t feel overwhelming. We ordered the fish tacos and chips with guacamole, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out fairly quickly despite the crowd. Our margaritas took a bit longer to arrive, but the bar was definitely slammed as there was a Padres game on, so that could have been part of it. What really stood out to me was how family- and dog-friendly the place is. It’s clean, casual, and perfect if you’re out with a group or want to bring the kiddos or pups along. They also had a solid beer selection for those who prefer brews over cocktails. Great place to kick back and enjoy a casual, coastal evening.

This is one of my new go to places in San Diego! We went here for dinner and got the rice bowl and the poke bowl! Both were so good we had to go back another time before leaving at the end of our vacation. Their lemonades are great as well!

Great service and vibe. 10/10 Drinks: great, delicious margaritas plus, they have some variety with the mocktails. 3/10 Starter: we got the Brussel sprouts. It wasn't crispy, cold, too much going on flavor wise. Probably not in season. Food: I got the poke bowl, hawaiian style/ ahi. And it doesn't taste like oahu hawaiian style poke you can get at foodland or onos but it was good enough. Rice was def cali portion and it comes with some side chips. (Please see photos) My got the shrimp, carne asada, and first tacos. He states the best one is the carme asada, while the fish and shrimp were tied. The tacos were socal style surfer tacos and nothing at all like the kind you get from a downtown or SD street style tacos. Vibes: very beachy and touristy. Can be fun with groups and family friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Love this restaurant! I was introduced to this place by one of my good friends and now I can't stop coming back. Trust me once you try it, you are going to do the same thing! The food is absolutely delicious! You can go wrong with anything on the menu. Whatever you get will be tasty. Some of their foods you can definitely share with another person so get more than one item so you can try more than one thing! I got the grilled salmon bowl with sticky rice and YUM! It was soooo good!! Definitely going to get that again when I go back. Definitely fills you up. They have different specials everyday with food and drinks. Their drinks and foods aren't expensive and reasonably priced. There is also only street parking but I have never struggled or ever had to circle multiple times. I have always found a spot which is great. Parking isn't bad. The service is excellent! The waiters, waitresses and bartenders are wonderful and absolutely nice! Always helpful and always giving great recommendations and always patient with answering questions or helping out small or large parties. The inside is such a vibe. I loved the whole beach vibe since hence they are close to the beach lol. It's really cute inside. They have plenty of seating with tables, booths and bar seating. You can bring your dogs I have seen and I love it. I honestly love this place so much!

Visited Shore Rider in La Jolla 2 months ago and overall had a nice experience, though there were a few areas that could be improved. The grill wasn't working that day, which was a little disappointing, but the rest of the menu made up for it. The fried chicken sandwich was crisp and light, generous size of fish and chips was crunchy and tasty, while the raw selections were fresh, flavorful, and really showcased the quality of their ingredients. The laid-back, beachside atmosphere is perfect for enjoying seafood, but the service could have been more attentive. We were seated outside, and our server spent most of the time inside, so it sometimes felt like a wait to get checked on. A little more attention would have elevated the experience. Still, Shore Rider has a lot going for it with its tasty seafood and great location, and I'd return, especially to try the grilled items once the kitchen is fully up and running

I went to Shore Rider last night for my birthday and had such a great time. The vibe of place is relaxed, buzzing with energy, people in beach-adjacent attire, cute dogs (etc). I was 'that person' who arrived during their busier time of the Thursday night with a party of 9 people. I was so appreciative of the staff who was able to finagle my group a table:) Our waitress was fantastic, she got us set up with drinks when we got seated, coordinated all the appetizers, entrees, and went above and beyond when we did a complicated bill split at the end (we really appreciated how awesome she was). I'm a local, and I was elated to spend my birthday night with a friends in a beachy restaurant enjoying burgers and beers. The ambiance was exactly what I was looking for, the food was FANTASTIC, and the staff was absolutely amazing.

My friend and I sat at the bar, and were promptly greeted by Nick. As luck would have it, we were there on a Thursday night, which is $6 pint night, along with representation from a local brewery, Smog City Brewing. We ordered the poke nachos and spicy brussel sprouts, both of which were delicious and filling. I hope to visit again soon.

We stopped in here twice. Once for drinks and once for lunch. Both time were s great experience. Good food and decent prices.

Cute little place with lots of outdoor seating, which is good because the large bar area and indoor tables were all full! A very chill vibe, it was noisy and there were tvs inside. We just grabbed a quick drink while we waited for our dinner reservation nearby. Their speciality margs did not disappoint!

Shore rider has good food and amazing drinks! It's a chill spot in La Jolla cove that was walking distance to my hotel. I sat at the bar and my order was taken quickly. I tried the following: ahi poke nachos (4.25/5; very solid and generous portion. Tons of fish as well as avocado and seaweed. The nachos are served with crisp wontons which is a very nice touch and the sauce is tasty.), kale Caesar salad (4.25/5; exactly as described. The tomato was a nice touch), and the marine layer margarita (5/5; amazing! Superbly balanced w the coconut, lime and mezcal. I will be back for this drink specifically). Overall, you can get a tasty, affordable dinner and awesome drinks at Shore Rider

Shore Rider has great drinks and a great vibe. The spicoli is a perfect mix of modelo and a margarita iceberg. Tasty and refreshing. I also really like the marine layer margarita. It has mezcal, lime, coconut and jalapeño. I haven't tried too many food items but I recommend the poke bowl. Service is always quick and friendly.

Saturday evening was our first trip to Shore Rider, and it will definitely be on our list from now on every time we visit the area! Everything was great. We shared the poke nachos - there was SO much fish and flavor!! It's our new favorite dish. We also shared the crispy fish sandwich, which was tasty too. Our server was quite friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed the whole vibe of the restaurant. There were tons of groups enjoying the space while we dined in.

Decided to pop in around 12 on a Saturday and we were able to get the last two spots at the bar, it was pretty busy! This spot is a perfect distance from the beach with a several different options on their menu. The aperol spritz's were 7/10, a little heavy on the aperol. The ahi tuna poke bowl was fabulous, and a generously large portion for $21. I loved the wonton chips as an addition. Only complaint would be the edamame being pretty cold, otherwise was great and I'd order it again. My boyfriend enjoyed the tacos, the carne being his favorite and the fish being his least favorite. The breading wasn't crunchy and was a bit thick. Unfortunately though the chips were so thick and seemed to be re-fried. I chipped my front tooth on them :( Our bartenders were really nice & friendly while being busy & quick to make our drinks! Great spot with a cute & casual atmosphere.

Nice low-key spot with outdoor seating. Mushroom app was a unique standout--Cocktails hit the spot. Boyfriend's Poké bowl was fresh and zesty; my Ahi nachos were killer: crispy wontons topped with spicy marinated tuna, creamy avocado, and a sriracha drizzle--devoured every bite. Server Sydney was a gem. 5 stars!

The poke bowls here were so fresh and clean. I wanted something else than the typical bar food. The poke bowl did not disappoint! My partner got the street tacos carne asada and achiote chicken which were also amazing. He liked the Mojito and the Pier Pressure was decent but I would try another drink next time! The staff were fast, efficient and friendly being that the crowds come and go given the beach traffic. This one stays on the list for the poke bowl alone.

Average margarita. $14 a little pricier but it did have a good amount of alcohol. I got the prickly pear. It was flavorful. My friend got the mango but they forgot the mango flavor. Service was a little slow. Waited about 10 min before someone even acknowledged we arrived. They were not that busy and everyone around us had food and drinks already. The frozen margarita was refreshing on this hot day. Probably wouldn't be back. A backpack with a margarita in it for the beach would be way cheaper!!!

If I was reviewing just the vibe and ambiance I'd give it a 5. Fun place to hang out before/after hitting the beach. Because the servers were friendly and the french fries were good I gave it a 2, instead of 1 stars. So sorry but I'm hoping this review saves others from expecting great food here. * fish & chips: dry, didn't flake like fish, they said it was halibut but it didn't taste, look, or feel like halibut. it was more like a pressed log of fish pieces. it was not pleasant to eat. the breading was thick. we love fish & chips. this is not the place to get them. not much flavor. the tartar sauce was runny too. * the french fries were good. * wedge salad: meh. overly dressed in a spicy blue cheese dressing. it was okay. * grilled fish tacos: meh. DD got them and they were ok. I had a bite and they were better than my fish and chips, but that's not saying much. * carne asada tacos: maybe not a fair comparison but they were not as good as Roberto's. hubby said "they were ok" but he wouldn't go back. * chips & guacamole: chips were thick. thought we might break a tooth. guac was ok. great place to grab a drink. as long as you have low expectations of the food, this is a fun location. dare i say it might be the best, fun, chill vibe on Avenida de la Playa. bonus: it's dog-friendly too. thank you to the friendly wait staff. you were great!

I'm so glad we came across this restaurant after a day of kayaking in the beautiful caves! I was in the mood for a margarita and fish tacos! I got the carne asada, grilled fish and battered fish tacos. They all slapped, as the young kids say. We also got the pretzel as an appetizer and it is by far the best pretzel I've ever had. We were all drooling over it!! My spicy margarita hit the spot and the patio added to the ambiance! Definitely 10/10!

We visited La Jolla last week for a kayak adventure and our hungry crew was happily surprised by Shore Rider's Fish Tacos. So much so that our 14 year old asked to come back every night to get them again. The ceviche was a hit with the adults, the chicken skewers were popular with the kids. The restaurant was open, with ceiling fan,s and had a very airy feel to it. It was easy to get a table, but it was also pretty full with a happily chatting crowd and a bustling bar. The music was slightly loud but not obnoxious; we could still have a conversation. Our waiter went out of his way to make a special lemonade for our daughter and helped us choose dairy-free items. We will definitely be back, and next time I want to try the spicy margarita with the tajin rim.

3-4 Stars. This is probably more of a place people come for drinks rather than food. Our food (appetizers and main) came out pretty fast. Almost at the exact same time. I wondered why they were apologizing for it coming out fast, until I realized that it's because no one else ordered food. Our waiter asked us about drinks ~3 times and we said just water. They had a large list of margaritas, classics (alcoholic), wine, draft beer, cocktail specialties, bottles & cans (alcoholic). If they had root beer-- I would order it in a heartbeat. The glass of waters were nice and cold and the waiter came by with a water vase for refills. The tables were clean and the space was warm! I love how they had two sides of seating. Plenty of space to sit. Even at the bar if you'd wish. They have TVs playing sports as well. It is a bit loud for conversations though! The interior was decorated nicely matching the beach theme of surfing, natural woods, and ocean vibes. Upon looking at Yelp, many people raved about the BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER $16. The menu says it's charred cauliflower and that is always up my alley, as it's my favorite thing to make. Sadly this was not charred and a few of the cauliflower stems were crunchy like it wasn't fully cooked. The cauliflower heads were a sponge that soaked up the vinegary buffalo sauce. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of this like I thought I'd be! That just goes to show how people's tastes will be different -- (good vs not so good). It came with a piece of lettuce (limp) and topped with green onions. 2-3/5. To eat, I ordered the FISH AND CHIPS $22. It specifically says you can have it with crinkle cut fries or tater tots and if you want, truffle it up for $3. I asked for crinkle cut, but I did NOT say truffle. The first bite, I was thinking to myself, something tastes off. Is it the ketchup or is it my fries? I asked my brother to try the fries for me. He confirmed it was truffle. Yeah, not for me. Since the fish was on top of the fries, it got some of the truffle taste sadly. I'm a truffle hater as you can see. Onto the fish, I almost thought they were mozzarella sticks as they came out. Much different kind of fish and chips than I was expecting. The lemon aioli was nice. I personally wouldn't order this dish again. My brother had the MCRIDER BURGER $16 and he doubled it up $3. He really enjoyed this! But the bottom bun was soggy and fell apart as he grabbed it for his first few bites. Maybe it would be better to arrange the ingredients-- aka lettuce and special sauce on the top rather than with the bottom bun. He had it with tater tots that were perfectly fried and free of truffle (lucky him). 4.4/5! They have a nice array of items on their menu, so if I were to come next time-- I'd try something else. It's a close walk from the beach, which is why we chose to eat here! Everyone has different tastes (for food)... Come by and see what you like, maybe even try something off their drink menu.

Hmm the tacos are kinda dry. Tasted old...like it's been sitting out for a while. I was not a fan. I really didn't care for them at all. The nachos I will say was really good, we paid extra for shrimp and they did give an ample amount and it was worth the extra bucks. It was flavorful and kinda addicting. They have a small Kids menu. For a hot dog and fries it was $10. Nothing too crazy. The ambiance is really nice tho. Dogs are welcomed, so many tables, a lot of huge screens for different sports channels. A good hang out spot. It's around a lot of nice restaurants and bars all with walking distance. Very near from the beach. The service was nice too, our waiter was great. Just the food is mediocre. They also don't have any burritos anymore, they changed their menu and that was the initial reason I chose the restaurant so kinda bummed.

Our server was attentive, food was decently quick. We had the fish and chips, salmon poke bowl. Both were 5/5, flavor and temperature were perfect. I was really surprised with the poke bowl size, it was a little bigger than expected but was great for sharing. Solid choice every time in La Jolla shores.

Shore Rider has been my wife and my weekend go-to for the past several months. Really enjoy the vibe -- the restaurant/bar is open to the ocean air, friendly and talented staff, and plenty of vegan options for us plant-based people. Lots of drink options and a good lineup of beers to choose from. Usually easy for us to get a booth. We'll be back again and again.

After a day of kayaking in beautiful La Jolla we stopped by Shore Rider for an early dinner. The main street / Avenida De La Playa is so cute! Lots of options for food, drinks, shopping, and ocean activity rentals / tours. The vibe was my fave part of this place! Lively but chill, great music at the perfect volume, and the perfect beachy atmosphere. Service was good, but it did take awhile to flag down our server when we needed things. I got an iced tea and my group all got cocktails. They said they were good but not strong at all. The food I felt was very lacking especially for the price. We tried the nachos, cauliflower wings (these were good!), mushroom tacos, and a few of us had the tofu veggie bowl. The bowl was really bland. It was $22 but tasted like it should have been $8 max. We all had to ask for extra hot sauce to try to give it some flavor. I took home leftovers but it was a struggle to finish it. Wanted to note this because I rarely feel this way about food. Overall, no one really commented on enjoying anything except for the wings. I would def recommend for drinks (maybe beer) and the atmosphere. Maybe the meat food options are better?

I was in the area, and decided to stop by. The service was decent. I liked how they had heated lamps above almost every other table. I'm usually cold, especially in winter months and with many restaurants being more outdoorsy it helps a lot. The food was decent and server was pleasant. Overall, if I'm in the area again I'd stop by for a drink.

First time I had just dropped in for lunch on a Saturday. I really like the McRider Burger (4/5 $16). It's flavorful, and I can customize a bit -- like having blue cheese crumbles on it rather than American cheese. I also enjoy the Crinkle Fries (4/5) that come with it--nicely seasoned. Beer selection on tap is great (5/5), as is the bartender service (5/5). I had Shore Rider Blonde Ale (5/5) with lunch. Shore Rider is considerably less noisy at lunch than in the evening. Overall, a welcoming environment.

Lively, casual spot in a fun area of La Jolla (Avenida de la Playa). Indoor, open-air and outdoor seating. Enjoyed an early dinner with our group of six, then took the short walk to La Jolla Shores to watch the sunset.

Great food, awesome vibes, and an even better location! This was our first time coming here and boy this place did NOT disappoint. I had the tacos (chicken, carne, and grilled fish) and honestly they were all amazing. Started with the fish and was blown away thinking the others wouldn't be able to compete, but they were all just as good in their own unique way. The wife got the ceviche and also thought it was incredible. The kids shared a hot dog and some tater tots and they ate every last bit of it. Needless to say, we'll definitely be back, and this will be our go to spot after a day at La Jolla Shores beach.

Tried this place out for the first time--service was great, and the food was even better! I got the house nachos with steak and they were a 10/10!! It was the perfect day to sit outside, which made the experience even nicer.

This restaurant is super inviting and has a ton of seating. After spending a couple of hours sizzling on the beach my friend and I stopped in for lunch. I had the fish and chips and she had the Baja fish bowl. She had a cocktail and I had a cucumber tajin beer. The fish in my fish and chips was fresh and perfectly crispy. However, I was dissapointed that I paid extra for truffle fries but they tasted regular. My friends fish bowl was okay but didn't have a ton of fish in it. The cucumber tajin beer was SO good! I would come back from that.

Went here on a early saturday afternoon for a few drinks and some food. Self seating was nice, food was good, and everything came out fast!

Love this place! The food and service are amazing! We always sit at the bar and everyone is so friendly! Perfect spot near the beach. We always get different versions of the poke and ceviche and they are so good!

Beware and watch your receipt! Ordered a bourbon (same as I always do, Neat), my buddy ordered the same bourbon on the rocks. When Bill came, I was charged $3 extra to not have ice. My buddies check charged him $3 extra to have ice. Never ever had this happen and can't understand the logic. To add insult to injury. I asked to not have the won ton chips on my poke bowl (It comes with won ton chips). On my check they charged me $1 to Not have the won tons on. It's not about the $4 , but the principle of the thing and the nerve to try. See receipt below. Beware and review your check!

We had a really great experience here. We ended up going twice the same day. The service was outstanding. The food/drinks and ambiance were perfect for what we were looking for. Really chill vibes. Open beachy layout/scenery. The people running it seem like genuinely good folks.

Just happened to come here after the beach the fish tacos and shrimp are really good tasty and their hot sauce you must try just the right amount of spice. Also had the nachos with asada so delicious the onion was amazing definitely will come back again. I also love this restaurant is dog friendly. Service was great and no wait .

The BEST bar/restaurant in La Jolla Shores. Awesome beers on draft, full bar, delicious drink creations, and super friendly staff. We have been coming here since we moved to La Jolla from Downtown San Diego in 2018, and I am surprised I have NOT YET left a Yelp review. Well, better late than never. Recently, they have added on/expanded, and the space is "twice as nice" Get here.... you won't regret it.

Fish and chips ($21) were mediocre at best. Fish was heavily battered with no flavor. We were served four fish pieces that sat in a large tray of tater tots- would definitely feed two people. The tater tots were crispy but again no flavor. The burger was ok- it quickly fell apart as the condiments inside were a bit mushy. Service was ok. Plenty other places with better food nearby!

Really yummy food! We got the ceviche appetizer, fish tacos, and shrimp tacos. For the fish tacos, we got 2 grilled and 1 fried. The grilled were way better than the fried! You can taste the beer in the beer batter and I don't love that. Everything else was really yummy though! Everything tasted fresh. We got the strawberry mint something mocktail and it was really good too. The server was nice and attentive. Very friendly too. The vibes are nice - casual with an open feeling. Would definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

The food wasn't very good. The poke was warm & the quality wasnt good. My friend got the new mushroom app. He says it tasted dehydrated, yet the description was fried. The bartender was very nice. The atmosphere was good. I had been in the past and the food was much better... that was about a year ago.

The food here was pretty good, but I do think that everything was very, very overpriced!! Three very small tacos were $25 (they were the size of my palm and my hands are very small)! The poke was alright, definitely lacking in some ingredients, but the fish was good and fresh. The drinks were also pretty good but then again also very overpriced!! The service was alright, nothing special, our waiter was nice, but there was another waiter that had a lot of attitude. The environment is very chill, but then again feels like a very casual place for the price that we are paying for the food!

The place has a typical beachy vibe. We sat outside as the weather was nice. The servers were efficient and answered all the questions we had easily. The food came relatively quickly. The food was disappointing. I ordered the trio of tacos and it was nice that you could choose any 3. They were small. An average grown man would finish each taco in 2.5 bites. The baja fried fish taco had 1 tiny piece of fried fish that wasn't special. The grilled fish had a larger piece that was well cooked. The carne asada taco was by far the best, the steak was good! It came with tortilla cups and salsa, they said it was homemade, and it was a total miss the guacamole was good, and had a kick. The ahi tuna poke bowl was really bland, but the portion was large. I heard that the burger was good and had a kick. The fries were Cajun and yummy. Oh, and the ceviche was mixed and spicy.

Just a cute place!!! Super spacious that you can enjoy outdoor and indoor. There's lot of option for food delicious Mexican food~ I got the Baja fish taco and cauliflower buffalo. Taco was delicious!!! Yummy!!! I think I can eat like ten of them hahahah ~~ it's was crispy and fluffy fish with yummy pineapple salsa~ I love their tortilla chips!!! Crispy but slight touch of sea salt but their salsa that came with the taco it was delicious! I wish I can purchase a bottle of that!!! The cauliflower was good but it was super super salty~~ that I would skip! Everyone there is super sweet, our server was attentive and brought me extra chips because I loved it so much! Service was great. Atmosphere is a fun beach feel. Food was excellent. We had the grilled fish tacos and chicken sandwich. We will be back.

Amazing service, food, and location. The carne asada beach bowl is a must!!!! The ceviche was also delicious

So confused as to why the waitstaff ignored my husband and I in the patio seating area. Other tables on the patio were getting service, yet no one came over to ask if we needed anything. Even with empty drinks on the table and after making eye contact and getting up to try to find someone to assist us. It was disappointing, especially because the first drinks we got were really good and we were looking forward to getting some food.

Food- SPICOLI's amazing - but above all, dear god this is the best service in all of San Diego. Maybe California. Our server JACKSON and TARA were amazing.
