Hot San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, August 2025 | Eater San Diego

"After a $4 million renovation that lasted over three years, the eagerly awaited fourth outpost of Shorebird Restaurant—and the first in San Diego—opened in Seaport Village, backed by Wild Thyme Restaurant Group in Orange, California. Replacing the former Pier Café, the California coastal restaurant spans two levels with 360-degree views of the San Diego Bay; the downstairs offers over-the-water dining while the second floor adds a bar and casual seating for a sunset cocktail, meals, or waiting for a table. The menu features swordfish tacos, steaks, chicken and waffles, Wagyu burgers, sushi, and cheesecake, paired with cocktails like a passionfruit drop or a West Coast salty dog with lime vodka, grapefruit juice, and cilantro-lime salt. Validated parking is available in the Seaport Village lot." - Helen I. Hwang

Absolutely beautiful view as we were seated by the window. We arrived with no reservation but they let us have a table before their reservation came in; great customer service! We started off with the Salmon Belly Nigiri which was excellent, especially having been stationed in Japan for 8+ years this was a great cut of fatty salmon. The Buffalo Onion Rings were delightfully delicious as the breading was cooked well; it did not fall apart as I took each bite. The buffalo sauce was a great touch along with the bleu cheese crumbles. Just make sure you eat it quick as the onion rings sit in the sauce, given it took a bit before it started to get soggy. The fish & chips were extremely crispy and the fries perfectly seasoned. The grilled lemon gave it the smokiness flavor and went extremely well with the fish. The Alaskan cod was not fishy whatsoever, a great entree. For all the mushroom lovers, I am guilty for being one myself we’re perfectly caramelized atop the Chilean Seabass dish. The risotto was creamy and light, and the fish freshly cooked. A great place for the family or a date night. I would definitely go again!

This place was fantastic! The location is amazing right along the water and near the Seaport Village so it’s centrally located to many attractions and hotels in Downtown San Diego. My friends surprised me with a lovely birthday lunch. The food was phenomenal and it was hard not to pick everything off the menu to try. The overstuffed eggs, crab cake Benedict was so delicious. We were so full when we left. The staff is personable, professional, and offered great recommendations on items to try from the menu. They made my birthday so special and I thank you all again!

Google
This is such an overall terrific dining experience — the location, the ambiance, the food, and the service! The seafood is very fresh! We had Kumai oysters dressed in ponzu, Tobasco and smelt roe (Tobiko). The cod and salmon belly sushi were delicious as were their other seafood dishes. I’m glad Seaport Village has this wonderful restaurant!

Google
This is such a cute place. I really liked the food…. My favorite part was the view. It was really good. Such a good place for brunch. I will say the reception was very nice. But the man who served didn’t check in with us for more drinks and he was not great. I would return but would ask for a different server. The restroom downstairs was clean and stocked.

Looking for a beautiful spot to eat with an ocean view? This place has it! Looking for an expansive menu that’s sure to have something for everyone? This place has it!! We finished off a great day of sight seeing around Seaport Village with a stop at Shorebird and the entire experience was tremendous. The “overstuffed bacon and eggs” appetizer is out of this world. The swordfish sandwich was super flavorful and the onion rings were piping hot and perfectly crisp. Finished off the night with their brownie dessert which came out warm and gooey with ice cream and walnuts. Do yourself a favor and check out this phenomenal new spot!!

Google
It was honestly a surprisingly pleasant experience. I didn't know they were doing a soft opening when my wife and I were doing the trolley town tour and walking around (we live to the north but have never been to the southern areas of SD). The quality overall of the food was good, although there were some weird parts to them. The staff was also very friendly and on top of stuff like water refills. My wife got the breakfast and loved the potatoes, but the bacon was really tough (not burnt, just tough, almost like jerky). The toast was also weirdly burnt in the underside. Not in a crispy crunchy way, but so that it was just tasting of burnt bread and pitch black. I got the Fish & Chips and it was all very tasty, but for the price it was weird that I only got two pieces of fish (it was just cod like most places). Then they also served my wife's soda out of a plastic bottle, which was also very weird given the vibe of the restaurant overall. Having said all that, we do plan to revisit because it was still good food and the view is amazing.

Google
This was honestly the best surprise of our recent trip to San Diego. The location cant be beat right on the sea walk and practically on the water (hitting it at sunset was an extra special treat). The service staff were outstanding, so friendly and helpful! And the food was wonderful. I had the swordfish sandwich as the main, and i can confirm the pineapple carrot cake is the perfect way to end a meal here. The Shorebird is definitely a new staple for us when we visit!

Google
Beautiful restaurant. Great ambiance. I ordered the black cod which was good but there were olives scattered across the plate and olives aren’t mentioned in the menu description. I hate olives and wouldn’t have ordered the dish if I had known. I recommend that the restaurant update its menu description to mention olives since it’s a somewhat polarizing ingredient. My only other feedback is that the restaurant’s google listing shows an inaccurate address so it was hard to find. It’s a relatively new business so maybe it was entered incorrectly. Hopefully an easy fix.

Yelp
Julianna took excellent care of us- her timing and recommendations were perfection. She knew just what we needed and when, and her subtle service was the perfect compliment to the phenomenal food. We had 1/2 dozen Baja Oysters, Hamachi Crudo, Garlic Roll, Chilean Sea Bass, and Key Lime Pie... excellent Hendrix martini, some Veuve, followed by sake and Sapporo. Every course was served quickly but beautifully composed. The flavors worked flawlessly. Best meal we have had in ages, and for a reasonable for CA price. Also- the view!

Yelp
Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. The water was beautiful the day we went. We didn't get a table right by the water but it was really bright/sunny so the sun may have been in our eyes. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. It was not really busy the day before thanksgiving. I got the wagyu burger with the Napa and apple slaw. It was cooked perfectly pink for medium. Husband and MIL got the eggs Benedict and fish and chips. Both were very happy with their choices. Good portion sizes too.

Yelp
Shorebird opened on the seaport this past August. Ambiance: the restaurant is located over the bay and has great waterfront views. The evening views are limited at this time of year, so I'd more recommend going for brunch or lunch for bayfront views. The hostess recommended we sit upstairs, which I thought was a poor recommendation. Upstairs is warmer, but views aren't as great since the downstairs has floor to ceiling windows. I wished we sat downstairs. There is also a small bar upstairs. I didn't get a great view of the downstairs. Service: Service was ok. Server didn't check on us often and left quickly when we would try to order additional things. Drinks: They don't have any beer on tap, only bottles. I ordered the passion fruit drop cocktail and it was really delicious. Food: Food was ok and overpriced. We ordered the spicy tuna eggroll to start and was displeased to see it was one eggroll cut in half. For my entree, I ordered the Chilean Seabass. The fish itself was good. The risotto it came with was super cheesy, which I went expecting at all. The arugula and tomato salad was an odd combination with it. I would've preferred cooked vegetables with it. My husband got the fish and chips and they looked small and disappointing. He said it was average. My friend ordered the skirt steak and I got to try a piece and that was really very tasty.

Yelp
Literally on the water in Seaport Village stunning views. Newly remodeled. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Good menu, lots of choices. Fresh ingredients. Staff is friendly & helpful.

Yelp
We ate at Shorebird recently, and it was great. We will definitely be back! SERVICE: Our server was fast and attentive. Zero complaints! AMBIANCE: The ambiance at Shorebird was amazing! Such a great view. Not loud. Would be a great please to bring people visiting San Diego. DRINKS: We each had a cocktail, and although I can't recall which ones we got, we both loved our selections! FOOD: We ordered the following: LEMON RICOTTA SOUFFLÉ HOT CAKES - Blueberries, butter, maple syrup ($23.00) - These were very, very good pancakes, but I have to say it's pretty hard for pancakes to knock my socks off. I am glad I tried these, and you can really taste the lemon and ricotta, but if/when I returned, I would try something else. JAY BIRD'S CHICKEN AND WAFFLES Choice of Nashville hot or plain jay, free-range breast, buttered hot sauce, house-made golden waffles, butter, Vermont maple syrup ($26.00) - My husband got the chicken & waffles, and I tried them, and it was very good! Would definitely recommend if you're a chicken and waffles person. CRISPY HERB POTATOES WITH LEMON AIOLI - ($10.00) - These were very good, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, but like the pancakes, these fall into the category of "I'm glad I tried them but would try something else next time." Overall, we will definitely return to Shorebird. The view, service, and food were all great!

Yelp
Do not go here if you have food allergies. I have been several times as I live within walking distance. While they are good about finding things out like is there chicken broth in the broccolini etc it's like a starvation journey when you dine with others. I am allergic to all meat including chicken. It would have been helpful to know this the previous 4 times! What I don't understand is they are less than a half mile from the Convention Center and this is the best you can do! We deserve better in San Diego. I will not be spending my money here again.

Yelp
Shorebird is a cute spot on the water in Seaport Village. Was in San Diego for a week and ended up here twice for dinner. Their appetizers are the stars of the show in my opinion. We ordered a variety and split them both times we went. I think the tempura rock shrimp were my favorite but fat. The flavors were so good but honestly everything we tried on the appetizer menu was. The sauces that came with the egg rolls were also a crowd favorite and we used them for just about everything. The Caesar salad is a lemon Caesar salad and the lemon is a strong flavor. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Service was outstanding both times! If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend stopping by Shorebird.

Yelp
Located at the end of Seaport Village offering great views of the harbor! We went on a Tuesday afternoon. Although we they were busy, we were seated rather quickly and didn't have reservations. The crab cakes and tempura rock shrimp were okay. The Lemon Caesar was a disappointment but, the Wedge was delicious. The Tin's Dressed oysters were fresh and delicious and the price was more reasonable then their other raw bar items. I've seen other people order the rolls and they were smaller than most places and almost double the price of most places. They have two private parking lots which you can get a partial validation if you eat or shop there.

Yelp
The location was amazing. Shorebird sits right above the water, across from Hess Brewing. I walked by and the hostess was inviting me in and very persuasive. I looked over the posted menu, then asked for the drink menu. It was hot amd humid, and the choice was between Louisiana Charlie's and this place, since I'd never been to either. I wanted something light and Charlie's was a bit heavier. I was pleased to sit upstairs at the bar. The windows were open and the light breeze was refreshing. A nice older couple sat next to me and we had pleasant conversation with our bartender about the food, our families, San Francisco, San Diego, and Guatemala. I thoroughly enjoyed my Espresso Martini, Avocado Fries, and San Marzano Tomato soup. The price was what you expect to pay at Seaport Village; so, although I loved everything, I can only treat myself to this occasionally. I truly enjoyed everything about this place! (:

Yelp
Stumbled upon Shorebird while we took the kids out for a quick Labor Day Weekend outing, we were soo glad we made it in. the restaurant SITS ON THE WATER, and has a really awesome view, outstanding service and delicious food. It is never easy to sit w/ our twins given our stroller, but the staff was super attentive to catering to our 2 adults 2 infants party, as well as giving us a space for our stroller. Our twin girls loved the views, and kept saying agua agua, while pointing to the ocean, and yup VIEWS for days... with tons happening on the water, paddleboarding, jetskins, boats, seagulls, planes.. it was a great way to keep them entertained. our food and service was outstanding, food/drinks came out super fast - and timing is important since our girls have a short timer when it comes food/staying calm while on the high chairs. the white sangria 10/10!! the lido roll ... perhaps one of the best rolls I ve had in a while! fresh, huge! and all the flavors really pop! we didn't reserved but that was an option. more info here: https://shorebirdrestaurant.com/san-diego another nice icing on the cake... Yelp
Came here for brunch yesterday and I was blown away by the quality and taste of the food. My date and I had the lemon pancakes, crab cake Benedict, and breakfast burrito. It was alot of food but we managed to finish it all because it was soooooooo good we didn't want to waste any of it. The sushi menu looked really good so we will be back soon to try that. This place wasn't expensive either for the location being right on the water.

Yelp
A vacant two-story structure on the western side of Seaport Village is now the new home of the fourth location of Shorebird. They are currently in a soft opening phase with a limited menu, however the grand opening will occur by the end of this week. I'm unsure why it took so long for a new business to take over the space as it has a terrific perch over the water with south and west facing views of the bay. The upstairs deck featured a bar and several tables for seating. The lower-level dining area wrapped around the outside of the structure. The main dinner menu was posted outside the entranceway. Some of the specialty dishes were only available after 4:30 pm. Just one almond wood-fired specialty was listed on the soft opening dinner menu which became my selection for the evening, the Prime Skirt Steak. Several slices of premium angus beef (cooked medium rare) were served with red chimichurri. The accompanying side was crispy herb yukon potatoes that had a cup of lemon aioli for dipping. A few pieces of beef were undercooked and chewy. The smashed potatoes had crispy edges to them which provided a nice texture. A raw bar menu was offered with several choices of sashimi, maki rolls, and two-piece nigiri. I skipped that and saved room for dessert. Although there was no printed menu, my waitress told me there were two choices, a Valrhona Chocolate Brownie and a Pineapple Carrot Cake. I picked the latter which was served as a large wedge with cream cheese icing and rum-soaked raisins on the side. A small cup of pineapple juice was provided to pour on top of the cake. There's a reason why I don't order dessert often, and that's because the items are so rich in calories like this version of carrot cake. The place was quite empty while I was there because I don't think many people knew about the soft opening. After the restaurant becomes fully operational, then I think there will be a waitlist for lunch and dinner because of the prime waterfront location. I gave a 4.5 star rating for my dining experience at Shorebird.

Yelp
this place is great if you want an ocean view, you literally sit right above the water. The food is cooked really well not super huge portions, but enough very flavorful. Staff was very attentive and helpful.

Yelp
Beautiful spot on the waterfront with a wonderful view of the harbor and Coronado Bridge. Service was friendly and attentive (I came for an 11:00am lunch so it was not busy). I got the GARLIC ROLL and a the WHITE PEACH SANGRIA; both were delicious. I'd definitely come back for the food and the view. It would be nice to visit during Sunset for a different experience.

Yelp
Food was meh, not steak 48 but steak 48 prices. Fantastic view and location. Ambiance/decor was subpar. Ocean view is critical for it to be worthwhile. Steak was ok Sea bass was under-seasoned/bland Service was okish: overcooked soggy broccolini was removed from bill no questions asked. But service was very slow

Yelp
Shorebird is breezy and sparkling clean and aesthetically gorgeous. The views are incredible. The food and service are fantastic as well. Our server Matt was so kind and helpful. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious! Matt also gave us suggestions for our next visit. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We ordered the filet mignon medium. And it was cooked. Perfect we got the mashed potatoes with it. And that was a good idea. We got the buffalo onion rings to start. The service by Heather was amazing. We will ask for her next time. She was helpful and quick to serve our table even though it was extremely busy tonight on a Tuesday night. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table. We did not expect that but pay him a little bit well. The ambience is as good as it gets with the ocean.
google avatar

Jeffrey E.

Yelp
Our waiter Matt was amazing, totally a kindred spirit. Cocktails were great too! Best tuna tataki I've ever had for sure, shrimp tempura bites were crispy and delicious, loved the deviled eggs and the black sea bass nigiri also. Everything was great including the incredible view of the bay.
google avatar

Yelp
Upstairs bar is open seating with around 6 high top chairs. Hostess is upfront and you can check in for a table. I ordered the mix of oysters which came with 3 with a mix of soy sauce and 3 regular. They don't have draft beer just bottled ranging from Pacifico to stone. It's a really nice view when the sun is setting since you're right on the water. Didn't order much food but I did order Mai tai which was a bit on the sourish side. It's a cute date spot or place to catch up. No tv or music. Parking is in the lot and you have to scan your card to enter the lot and than scan the card once more to exit. Parking in SD is expensive now kind of the same to uber.

Yelp
Wow what a lovely little venture. It was a Friday night, and we were able to be seated overlooking the water. I loved the food and venue. Definitely a fan of the service & easy seating. It was so cute inside! The food was also amazing

Yelp
I had Lemon Ricotta Soufflé Hot Cakes...Sooooo good The staff very tentative to ensure all is well. I will return because not only was the food and Bloody Maria great, so was the ambiance as I looked out at the water and ships. Thank you for my Sorbet

Yelp
Although it's quite small in the inside, it's right on the water so that was nice. The food was good, service was great and the drinks were outstanding.

Yelp
We have been seeing Shorebird whenever we were in Seaport Village for many months, and now they are finally open. We came in during their Grand opening on August 1st of 2025. We had a reservation for 6:00 pm, but they were very nice to understand that we were coming late due to the traffic we were in. Luckily we had a Reservation because it was packed when we came. We got seated at a table with a beautiful view of the water. This time I let my Son order for us since he said it was his Treat :) Here is what he ordered for us: *PASSION FRUIT DROP *CATALINA ROLL *SNAKE RIVER FARMS RIBEYE *BLACK COD *FISH & CHIPS *PINEAPPLE CARROT CAKE The Passion Fruit drop cocktail is a must get, it's delicious, if I wasn't with my Family and just came with friends I would just keep ordering this drink :). Our Catalina Roll came and it had Crab mix, cucumbers, avocado, pickled red Fresno Chili, and Scallions, topped with yellowtail. This was so Fresh and a good one. The Black Cod is what my Son ordered for me and I loved it! The fish was soft and tasty, and underneath it was Chive whipped potatoes which were very good with the Cod. I also love the Cute sunny side up quail egg that came with it, I've eaten quail egg before, but always boiled, never as a Sunny side up, it's just so cute! I will order this again on my next visit. My husband said his FISH & CHIPS were Salty, for me it wasn't, but hey we have different taste buds. My Son ordered the SNAKE RIVER FARM RIBEYE for himself. I tasted it and it was very Tender, not the best one I've had, but it was still good. I like how they put the chive whipped potatoes in a cute small bowl. For our dessert, we had the PINEAPPLE CARROT CAKE, which has Cinnamon, rum-soaked raisins, and creamed cheese icing. I'm so glad that the rum-soaked raisins were on the side and not on the cake 'coz my son would not like it. But this Dessert is a must get 'coz it's so Delicious! There are so many staff here all going around checking tables, a random server even picked up the Tiniest paper from my Chopsticks that I dropped next to my chair :) Our Server Gerardo was very friendly, always checking -in to see if there's anything else that we need to make our dining experience worthwhile. I really love the View of where this restaurant is. They have Free and Paid Parking around. But also, as a reminder, many Events are held in this area, so some days, it's really hard to find parking here. So before coming, maybe call the restaurant or check online if there are events going on here in Seaport Village.

Yelp
Perfect Sunday Brunch choice. Every table has a view, open and airy. Sunny with a nice breeze on our visit. Izzy was our server, she was great with suggestions and answered all of our questions. Very pleasant and accommodating as this was our first visit. The food was amazing, flavorful and presentation was good, simple white plates. Sea food dishes were delicious, cooked to perfection bursting with flavor. We also had a strawberry jam and lemon curd which are made in-house with sourdough toast, 10 out of 10! The restaurant is all white and very relaxing on the water. Can't wait to try it again.

Yelp
Great customer service! The view was impeccable. Place was clean. I stopped by after a run and just ordered the Catalina sushi, which was glorious! Would come back and try the other dishes

Yelp
Fantastic! More people need to come here! The Chilean sea bass with asparagus risotto was amazing. We also had the lido sushi rolls and carrot cake. Nothing beats floating on the water too. Perfect, simple, and clean ambiance.

Yelp
Service to get seated was on point. Service for the food was a bit slow, but it was a Saturday afternoon, so keep that in mind. The food tasted solid. The oysters were from Baja California and they tasted fresh. Presentation on the scallops could use some work (not featured in my photos). The lemon aioli was amazing. My frittata was surprisingly flavorful, despite being all egg whites. Never had anything quite like it. Thank you for a great experience! Overall, would def recommend.

Yelp
Spent Thanksgiving here with the family and we had a wonderful experience. Great and flavorful meals, drinks, and atmosphere. Highly recommend going here! Julianna, our server, was wonderful and attentive. She honestly made our whole experience more wonderful!

Yelp
Have been wanting to try out Shorebird since it opened. Overall, was just ok. Lunch menu was not very interesting, mostly brunch items, a couple salads and sandwiches, and everything was really overpriced. Fish or steak tacos for lunch were $44! We asked if this was for the whole table, and they said no, just a plate of tacos. We got two sushi rolls, and they were all right, but nothing special, $23 each. Service was pretty slow, even though there was hardly anyone there. On the plus side, nice water view!

Yelp
The long closed Pier Cafe reopened as the Shore bird. My wife and I loved to come here for breakfast, so we checked out the new place's breakfast. We liked the old place better. Here's the breakdown 1 is poor, 10 outstanding. Ambiance: 10 Beautiful bay view! Lovely interior and friendly people. Don't let the shabby roof with the broken wood ladder fool you, the interior is well done. Service: 10 All the staff was attentive. Our server Shannon, with the row of gold pens on her apron, was very patient and friendly. Menu: 5 Shorebird serves "brunch", not breakfast. But, their offerings are neither a traditional breakfast or brunch. My rating is colored by the fact that I like traditional breakfasts; omelets and scrambles of all types. They offer one meatless omelet. Food: 4 My spouse didn't like the menu offerings, so settled for the Shrimp Tempura side dish. She thought it was "alright", but it wasn't crisp like a tempura should be, and they used a heavy beer batter instead of a light batter. I ordered the Blueberry Pancakes. They were undercooked with the centers soft and creamy. Presentation: 10 The food looked lovely, the decor modern and clean, and table settings tasteful. Prices: 5 Prices are exorbitant! $7 for white toast? (they called it sourdough, but it isn't) However....all restaurant prices are through the roof, particularly if they are on the water, so high prices are to be expected. At least they don't have deceptive employment surcharges. I enjoyed my visit to Shorebird, and may come again with out of town guests, but I'll wait until they improve their menu and food.

Yelp
We visited Seaport Village and dined at the newly opened Shorebird. We were very impressed with the food, service and of course the redone restaurant, a lot of white paint! Our server was attentive and so was the general manager who stopped by our table. Portions are quite large and the margarita was perfect!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful experience at Shorebirds San Diego! We dined at Shorebirds in Seaport Village and were blown away by how gorgeous it was every table has a stunning water view! Our server, Rosemary, was amazing so kind, attentive, and always going the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious we had the Crab Benedict and Chicken & Waffles, both cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Our drinks were amazing too, refreshing and beautifully made. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was outstanding. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Friday morning brought an unexpected treat--a new restaurant in town was celebrating its grand opening, and what better way to start the day than with breakfast at Shorebird in Seaport Village? We arrived around 10:30 am, and parking was a breeze with no crowds yet--always a good sign. As we walked toward the restaurant, I already knew that even if the food didn't meet expectations, the stunning San Diego weather would make up for it. Thankfully, I didn't need that backup plan--Shorebird exceeded my expectations on every level! The restaurant itself is open, airy, and beautifully designed, with spectacular views from every table. The cross breezes through the dining area are refreshing but can feel a little cool at times, so a light sweater might be a good idea. From the moment we were seated, the service was exceptional. Our server was attentive and thoughtful, ensuring we had everything we needed. Even the manager and chef stopped by to greet us and talk about some of the dishes--a wonderful personal touch that made me feel they truly care about their guests' experience. For food, we ordered the Chicken and Waffles, Crab Eggs Benedict, the Overstuffed Bacon and Eggs (deviled eggs) appetizer, and finished with their indulgent Pineapple Carrot Cake. Everything was delicious. The deviled eggs were rich and flavorful, with a generous filling that I would gladly return for again. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy, paired beautifully with crispy waffles. My son raved about the Crab Eggs Benedict, and we both agreed to save room for dessert--thankfully so, because the Pineapple Carrot Cake with rum-soaked raisins and cream cheese icing was a decadent way to end the meal. Yes, it's a little on the pricier side, but for the quality, service, and overall experience, it was absolutely worth it. I left happy, satisfied, and already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place right over the water at Seaport Village. We did brunch/lunch and their menu is fantastic; It was hard for me to choose but I went with the swordfish sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. The BBQ spiced fries were very tasty tooooo. The restaurant is adorable and the service was great! I'll definitely be back here.

Yelp
Oh my gosh!!! So stoked this opened up in Seaport. Been waiting years for this!! I went in and was immediately welcomed warmly by the sweet hosts. Our server was cheerful and almost as excited about the menu as we were! The view was spectacular and the music was a perfect vibe. THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. They have a raw bar!!! Oysters AND sushi!!! All of the seafood was so fresh and the ribeye was cooked to perfection. I will absolutely be frequenting this spot. Thank you Shorebird!!!!

Yelp
Service was TERRIBLE! The water glass on our table were dirty and had lipstick marks on the rim. We didn't even see a server to take our order for the first 10 minutes we sat there. After our food arrived we requested several additional items even asked the manager who checked on our table if we could order something with him and surprise surprise, the items still NEVER arrived. The food was mediocre and WAAAAY overpriced, and the risotto tasted like feet! The ambiance was ruined by the bird poop all over the windows and it smells of rotten fish everywhere. Shorebird in a nutshell is a restaurant I would NEVER return to.

Yelp
Today was the grand opening and the menu will be tweaked as service continues and feedback from customers streams in. First is location; you cannot beat a table over the water with a view of the bay and the Coronado bridge! Just stunning!! Service was way off as my order from the raw bar menu got to my table after the hot items were set down...And...missing one of my items from the raw bar!! Bad timing in the kitchen and with the expediter! Second, my server did not come back to my table to explain or apologize but the manager did. Nor did the server stop by to ask if I was enjoying the food. Management should have offered a free dessert or a discount off my tab but he did not. Now the food...the salmon belly with caviar was excellent. The hamachi crudo had way too much jalapeño on it. It's a delicate fish and the avocado slices were enough garnish. The chef is definitely chili happy! Too much on the shrimp tempura took over the dish. That dish was perfectly executed; light, crispy tempura with a pleasant dipping sauce. The side dish of mushroom garlic risotto was under seasoned and undercooked, too much chew on the rice. I think they will get better and better as service continues and the kitchen tightens up the menu.

Yelp
I don't usually leave reviews, but Shorebird completely blew me away. The Chilean sea bass was absolute perfection -- buttery, flaky, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with just the right balance of seasoning that made every bite feel like it was crafted with care. I've had sea bass at plenty of high-end restaurants, and this honestly topped them all. And then the key lime pie... wow. Tart, creamy, and refreshing, with a crust that had the perfect crunch. It somehow managed to be indulgent and light at the same time -- the kind of dessert you think about long after you've left. Between the food, the warm service, and the beautiful atmosphere, Shorebird has officially become one of my favorite spots. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The tacos with the homemade tortillas!!! I have thought about them so many times since going there. Would definitely go back specifically for that meal

Yelp
We had a great brunch here. Came in around 10am on a Sunday and were seated upstairs. Every table has a great view of the harbor. The service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
The ambiance at the Shorebird restaurant at Seaport Village can be described as one of casual elegance with a stunning coastal backdrop. It perfectly blends a modern, refined dining experience with the relaxed, breezy feel of being on the San Diego bay. The restaurant is located in a two-story, over-water space, offering panoramic, 360-degree views of San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, and the boats in the harbor. The large windows and outdoor patio seating ensure that nearly every guest can enjoy the scenery. This setting is especially magical during sunset. The food, however, is the real star of the show. Each dish that arrived was a work of art, beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. My mother indulged herself in the Faroe Island Salmon Mignon, which she described was cooked to perfection, flaky and moist with a delicate, rich flavor. The other members of our party were equally impressed. I had the Black Cod and it was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth tender, it was served over a bed of chived whipped potatoes along with grilled asparagus. The Fish and Chips that my wife ordered were a sophisticated take on a classic; the Alaskan cod was incredibly fresh with a light, crispy batter that wasn't greasy at all. My sister, who prefers land-based fare, her Wagyu Burger was cooked to a perfect medium well upon her request. The wagyu beef was incredibly juicy and flavorful, elevated by high-quality toppings. Another favorite was the Swordfish Sandwich that my nephew ordered, a testament to how simple, fresh ingredients can create a truly spectacular dish. While the stunning views and incredible food at Shorebird get all the well-deserved praise, what truly sets this restaurant apart is its absolutely stellar service. Our recent dinner was not just a meal, it was a flawlessly executed experience from start to finish, all thanks to the attentive and professional service. From the moment we were seated, we were greeted with a genuine warmth that made us feel right at home. Our server, JC was a master of his craft. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations that helped us navigate the wide variety of enticing dishes. His suggestion were spot-on. He was patient and helpful as we made our selections. What stood out most was his attentiveness without being intrusive. Our water glasses were always full, dirty plates were cleared away promptly, and he seemed to anticipate our needs before we even had to ask. The timing of each course was perfect, we never felt rushed, nor did we have to wait. his entire team worked together seamlessly, from the food runners who delivered our dishes with a smile. It is clear that some of the staff is genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience for every guest, but JC went above and beyond our needs and expectaions. We would love to have him as our server upon our next dining experience at the Shorebird.

Yelp
Wow! Incredibly impressed with place that hSbt even fully opened yet. Had a delicious blood orange mezcal cocktail and then had an exceptional dinner. Steak was cooked perfectly, well seasoned and awesome red sauce. Potatoes were crispy outside and fluffy dream inside. Asparagus risotto was sinful. Wrapped it up with delicious dessert. Sitting out on bay with ocean view all around and incredible service. As I said, very impressed. If they keep this up, will be hard to get a table soon . Highly highly recommend

Yelp
We had a late lunch here and everything was fantastic. Joe was our waiter/bartender and he made some good recommendations. We tried the crab cakes which were Blue crab, not a lot of filling, perfectly seared, and overall just really good. Next we had the fish and chips. A little on the pricey side for this dush, but the 3 pieces of fish were lightly breaded, and very tender. Overall a very good rendition of fish and chips. We also had the asparagus lemon risotto. It was very good, not overwhelming with the lemon, and cooked well. We finished the meal off with the pineapple carrot cake which was also very good. Couple the meal with some good cocktails and a view that just can't be beat, and this place is r ally impressive. The staff was friendly too. You definitely should try this new restaurant!
