The Best Bars and Restaurants for Late-Night Dining in Portland | Eater Portland

"Hawthorne’s late-night destination for Thai and Vietnamese food caters to concert-goers spilling out of nearby Hawthorne Theatre, industry folks grabbing a post-shift meal, and anyone else looking for some late night food in the area. The restaurant and bar is a popular takeout spot, but diners can just as easily enjoy fish sauce wings and pho in a relaxed atmosphere before heading home for the night. Botta’s Favorite, a rice plate with grilled shrimp, fried egg, scallion oil, and choice of pork, chicken, or tofu, makes for a hearty late-night meal that’s available until midnight Tuesday through Thursday and Sundays, and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays." - Thom Hilton

I came here to celebrate a small birthday and wasn’t expecting much, as I had been here years ago and the food was underwhelming back then. Cute and small restaurant/bar with Asian street market vibes. The staff was friendly and patient with us. Most of our party hadn’t been here before. The drinks we had were good. We all had the pineapple jalapeño margarita. Majority of us ordered the wings because we kept hearing from our friends they had the best wings and wow, they were right. The tiger wings were amazing. Crispy, crunchy, juicy and the seasoning was so good. I also ordered a rice plate and that was also delicious. Everything was packed with flavor. We will definitely be back again soon for more wings and other items!

Google
Gastropub feel, dark with just the right amount of neon lights. Great for dates, group hangs. Food was pretty decent as well. I ordered Botta's Favorite (pic) because I was hungry and spicy wings to share. Portion size was perfect and seasoning is on point (this is coming from a southeast Asian girly). Others in the group ordered Ca Ri, Pho, bo la lot,Thai milk teas. Service could be better - even if it was busy it wouldn't hurt to check in with customers who have been waiting to order.

Google
Might be my my new late night (at least for Portland) takeout spot. The Tiger Wings are absolute fire. I love when a dry rub wing is done correctly and the spices/flavor was slap city. They weren’t spicy hot but they have a kick. The rice was decent. Great on the side of the wings but I’m not sure I would get it by itself. The restaurant itself was a cool vibe.

Google
Food was delicious Staff was kind and not intrusive. It is a perfect spot for a quick bite, hanging out with friends or a date. The peanut sauce is the best I have had in a long time

Never had I thought that I’d like wings with dry rub so much. I came to this establishment on a Tuesday evening during the Portland Wing Week. The place was decently crowded and there were many other customers who had come to try the $8 wings. I am not a huge fan of dry rub wings and was a little skeptical while going in. The wings were the best dry-rub wings I have ever had. The Asian spice mix was the right mix of spicy and tangy. The wings were perfectly crisp and of optimal size. After one plate of 6 wings I was quite full, but it definitely left me wanting for more. The place was buzzing with all sorts of people (Portland wing week definitely had a role to play in it). The table next to me was occupied by a bunch of Instagram foodies/reviewers and they seemed to also enjoy the wings. Overall, loved the vibe of the place. Would definitely come again to try other foods and drinks!

Google
Really cool spot, open late and fairly priced! Overall, we had a great time and here are a couple of the dishes that stood out - The grilled pork rolls and Botta’s Favorite!

Miso Tofu

Google
It was very moody bar vibes and not really restaurant. The food was mid and quite pricy for Vietnamese. I ordered the beef wrap in grape leaf and nothing else with it was weird. Usually is a wrap type dish but gave a side of pickle veg the spring rolls mid no noodles just meat and veg, the bun? Alright but again ratio is so weird. Wings was alright, little burnt but idk would I go again? No. Name was cute tho.

Google
It's my second time here, and both times were wonderful. Ordered the Bö Kho with sticky rice and Thai tea. They knock it out of the park on flavor, everything about the food is clearly fresh and homemade. This is easily my new go-to for late night Thai/Viet cuisine. You can't go wrong stopping in here.

Yelp
Ordered door dash a few times since it's one of a few places Open pretty late-- but disappointed to say food is generally always lacking a bit. Banh mi is always dry- the meats inside are flavorless- there's barely any pickled veggies and there's no viet mayo or pate... it's just lame and crumbly. Ordered the salt and pepper squid-- I know it's listed as an app but like I've never eaten it without rice. It's too salty without rice- there is literally no balance. I am unimpressed. crying tiger is a steak dish and it was so meh. It's unfortunate. We order a lot and want to put it in the rotation

Yelp
So mad at myself I did not stop in here sooner! I've driven by so many times and have never really noticed this place. But I need to come back and eat more of their wings! Their wings were just too dang good! Love the tiger wings, and the Szechuan pepper wings were good and not as spicy as I expected them to be! Yummmm!

Yelp
The one nice thing about Door Dash late at night on a weekday is that you can sometimes score free delivery from somewhere not close to home that you might not usually try. I was sick, it was 9:30 and I wanted Pho. Short Round is a bar in Hawthorne (my original Portand hood) that is open late and serves Asian food. Hawthorne has better late night options than my west side neighborhood, just saying. Yay. I got Pho with chicken, my kid chose Pad Pra Kao ( rice, ground pork, fried egg) and we got grilled pork rolls which came with peanut sauce to share. It was all really delicious, it showed up fairly quickly, and our favorite parts were the grilled pork rolls and peanut sauce. We could have easily eaten more of them and would get our own next time. It looks very cool inside and their drink menu is appealing. I think it looks perfect for a date night:)

Yelp
I had this order delivered through Uber eats, so it's hard to review it at face value when it's more fresh. I ordered the pho with only filet mignon, salt & pepper squid and a Thai tea. I just felt like nothing stood out in eat dish, the pho tasted a little bland. The filet mignon is basically just flank steak with a fancier name. The salt & pepper squid was very hard but had a great salty flavor, more unique than other salt & pepper squid from other establishments. The Thai tea was thick, I think it may be sweetened with condensed milk but overall it was good. I would give this place another chance, but would definitely eat in person next time at the restaurant!

Yelp
Great food and well-stocked bar! Went here with my partner and a bunch of twenty-somethings. We picked out several appetizers and mains along with a few too many shots. They also have some very creative mixed drinks. The bartender/order taker was patient and took good care of us. And the kitchen staff brought the food out quickly. This is a delicious, unpretentious spot. Easy to come as a single person or couple, and very accommodating for bigger parties (they even have tabletop "bridges" that help connect two 4-tops together to make a larger table. Brilliant!)

Yelp
Cannot speak highly enough of this place. Their shrimp and pork dumpling are the best in the city. Thai fish wings are absolutely incredible! Best I've had of that style since PokPok. And to top it all off, they're open late!
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Got food via delivery and was excited to try some place new. I'd give it an a-okay overall. Everything was clearly fresh. I especially liked all the pickled items. The flavors were not bad but perhaps missed a bit of spice. For example, the tofu banh mi had a good mix of things, but the tofu itself was not very flavorful, and the mayo was punchy in a way to almost be cheesy. The grilled pork roll was just fine overall.
google avatar

Kylie G.

Yelp
A friend brought me back food from here so I can't comment on service or ambiance, but I had the salad rolls & chicken banh mi. Salad rolls were good! Sauce was good, pretty typical preparation for both - but still enjoyable. The lemongrass chicken banh mi was made with chicken breast which super flavorful and a good size - really filling! Comes with sweet potato fries as well. A few days ago I had their pho and it was just ok, lacked flavor and the meat was really fatty. I would skip the pho and just order banh mi next time!

Yelp
This place is an absolutely phenomenal hole in the wall restaurant. We stumbled upon it as a last-resort, open late place for yummy vietnamese fand cocktails downtown. Both the cocktails and food are very decently priced for the exquisite quality. Customer service was right-on and I love the chill, late night vibes with the dope trap/dream rap songs they play in house. Very happy to discover this place, and will hopefully be returning!

Yelp
We recently tried this spot for the first time and we were NOT disappointed. This spot is super clean, the guy at the counter was patient and friendly while we figured out our order, and the food doesn't take a lifetime to come out. I was pleasantly surprised by how good my curry dish was and my boyfriend's bahn mi was so flavorful and refreshing. This is absolutely a place I will be bringing my friends to. This is location is Sam Approved.

Yelp
Yum yum yummmmy. The crying Tiger (beef strips apps) were so delicious. Cooked to perfection. Chicken wings have some sort of magic sauce on them- mmm. Everything was delicious. Came out fresh. Place was clean. Staff was nice and prompt. Great service and a fun environment.

Yelp
Great value and authentic SE Asian cuisine. Generous portions and chill vibes. Need to bus your own tables which unfortunately too many are too oblivious or selfish to do.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Wow!! Friendly staff, quick service, YUMMY food and a great price! I stopped in Friday night and it was packed with live music and people so I decided to not try it out that day. I came back Sunday and I'm SO GLAD I did'! I can't wait to try more of the menu and cocktails. This place has a lot of charm too. 10/10!

Yelp
I make sure to stop by here whenever I'm in town and end up wandering in whenever I'm on Hawthorne. Delicious, strong drinks. Bomb vietnamese food. What else could you ask for? NOTHING. These are all the things I've had and I can recommend highly: Pho, the sticky rice cake appetizer (WOW!!!), salt and pepper squid, banh mi, spring rolls. Order them all. My favorite drinks have been the hibiscus or their take on the moscow mule. Can't go wrong! Ambiance is nice-ish. Good vibes, casual. Their design is kinda like "unfinished" which is smart and it works. You'll see what i mean when u go! Service is always great too. Check it out.

Yelp
2023 Wing Week - Short Round had me going a little crazy over their dry rub chicken wings! They are so delicious, juicy, and flavorful. I felt a lot of inspiration by these wings, they're almost like chongqing chicken, at least I hope that's the inspiration so I can make it at home. Also best sweet potato fries in my life, I'm not usually keen of them but damn, short round suddenly made me their #1 fan!

Yelp
Needed a late night eat and this came up as having Pho until 10pm. Come to find, the last hour they're open is Happy Hour! Can't remember ever seeing this option, but thankfully we got there in time for a sweet discount. The side items they brought along for the pho was plentiful and the order was ready in no time. Chicken pho was excellent and portions were exactly what we needed on this rainy night. Definitely plan to come back, especially with this late night happy hour deal!

Yelp
Man oh man. My boyfriend and I stopped in at Short Round over the weekend to grab some lunch. We got there pretty close to opening so it wasn't busy and we were able to order and grab a table right away. We started with the drinks, the crispy rolls, and the fish sauce wings. Both were DELICIOUS and came out piping hot. We love fish sauce wings and these really hit the spot. The flavor was perfect and they were super crispy! From there we ordered a pork banh mi and the Botta's favorite with pork. Both were flavorful and absolutely perfect. Also, they have a cocktail called "Temple of The Sun" - get it. Even if you don't like spicy cocktails... just get it. I passed on my first round because I typically don't like spicy drinks but my boyfriend had ordered it. After my first sip, I knew I made a mistake and had to order one as well. It was AMAZING! Service was also top notch and all the food came out quickly!

Soua V.

Yelp
I did a doordash from Short round. I was excited since the reviews were good. However, when I got my order, my 2 egg-rolls were pretty dry. Not sure how I feel about paying eight dollars for 2 dry egg-rolls. My Botta's favorite was ok. Definitely not jumping for joy for the food. I am a bit disappointed. Overall, the food was OK definitely is not a go back for me.
google avatar

Lyle O.

Yelp
Fresh, perfectly prepared, and quick! I had a combo with charred pork and shrimp, both just amazing, a ton of fresh veg, and fluffy rice. The mussels app was also delicious. Staff was kind and efficient. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Chill late nite Hawthorne spot. Good vibe. Grilled Prawns might have been tastier if you can figure out how to eat off the skewer, too much trouble. Grilled Pork & Wings - both need a bit more Asian flav. Banh Tet - hockey puck size, bland and needing some unique slap for taste. *Tofu Veggie Pho - safe bet, not overly salty and hit the spot.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
My order was takeout, so idk if that's why the sweet potato fries were so limp. They were flavorful, but not what I was expecting. Their accompanying peanut sauce was also not what I was expecting. The Bahn mi was ok. If I'm hungry in the neighborhood I'd stop by but probably not seek it out.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here after work for some happy hour. Their happy hour menu was long and actually had decent prices. I ordered their pho and salad rolls on the menu. The salad rolls actually had "(3)" on there and so we assumed there were 3, turns out it was one roll cut in half. I guess this was a misconception on our part because these (#) were listed by every item on the menu. So it is ONE salad roll for $3 during happy hour, which is pretty expensive IMO. Their pho on happy hour was ok, it was a bit bland. They had all the correct meats in there but gave the wrong side of veggies, I didn't mind it too much. They only had 2 benches outside for seating but plenty of seating on the inside. We later ordered some fish sauce wings, which didn't taste like the fish sauce wings we usually order elsewhere. The chicken seemed like they weren't fried all the way. And the sauce didn't have much of a fish sauce taste. Overall, maybe a good place to stop by and have some happy hour food/beers, but I don't think I would use this place as a must go to.
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
Don't let the trendy hipster vibe fool you! The taste is legit! I went not during happy hour so prices were a bit high for what I can eat at home for cheap (I'm Vietnamese). I mostly ordered the Vietnamese dishes so I can't speak for the Korean part of the menu. My favorite dish there was the "Bo tai chanh" I would describe it as kinda like a beef ceviche. Also really enjoyed the lemongrass ribs and bo luc lac! I didn't have very high hopes since I was expecting it to be your typical hipster asian fusion place. Short round, I am so sorry for judging you based on your appearance. I would come back but only for happy hour.

Ashley P.

Yelp
So sad that Short Round changed ownership! I didn't realize until I picked up my order (pork bahn mi) and saw the new name (Crying Tiger) and decor. The server said the food is "the same," but it's not. Lower quality for sure. Almost cracked a tooth on sweet potato fry batter (how does that even happen?), pork was very fatty, and bread not as good. They said they are adding more Thai food to the menu when there at least two other Thai places within a block on Hawthorne! Such a bummer.
google avatar

Becky L.

Yelp
One of the best happy hours in town. Please go here and eat their Chinese sausage and egg banh mi. It's GINORMOUS and I don't know what else to say about it. I've been here multiple times and have gotten this every single time. I love it so much that I haven't tried the other things I want to try, like the pho. I'd avoid bringing large groups here as the space is pretty narrow with bar seating and mostly two-person tables. The lighting can be deemed either intimate or hipster. For sure a great spot to bring a date or your best buds to watch a game (they've got three TVs). Now go get that banh mi!
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
They knocked it out of the park! Tempted to give 5-Stars, but have only visited once. One of my favorite dishes - Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef) was excellent, it definitely contends for the best version in town. However, it was oddly complemented with two varieties of sweet potato fries that I didn't care for as I prefer greens with this dish. Someone suggested we start with the Banh Tet: a fried rice cake with pork belly...yup, so good. The sticky rice was perfect. The lemon-lime drink excellent. The homemade chili paste kickin'. Parking isn't too bad, maybe not right in front, but doable. Staff was friendly, delivery fast. An overall positive vibe makes it a definite revisit.

Yelp
Definitely worth trying! Everything is small in portion-tapas style! Honestly I have long yearned for a simple place where I can eat my cooler than thou aunties cooking. A place where I be not judged for not wearing 4 inch heels and a hoochie dress. Cause this ain't no shady Utopia bar that everyone goes to after clubbing, THANK GOD! Come here with friends during the day and just kick back yer sandals and boat shoes to relax. No need to be fancy but you can. Plus they have filet mignon PHO! Uh, whut?! They have solid drinks here, including their very own infused house liquors. I suggest trying the rums! Drinks are solid, the frozen slushy watermelon margarita is made with REAL WATERMELÓN-YASS!! Perfect for cooling down during these sweltering heat drowned days! FOOD: -Fish sauce chicken wings: The chicken was cooked perfectly, wings weren't dry or spicy but really savory but for the price point for 4 wings I feel it was a bit steep. Considering a more traditional Vietnamese venue would include at least 6-8. -Banh mi: A banh mi with a fried egg and Chinese sausage, honestly this tastes like home. A friend of mine commented it reminded him of something he'd hanker for / put together when he's drunk. It's GOOD and hits every spot for savory and chewy. A plus is that the bread doesn't cut your mouth when you eat it. -Pepper salted squid: I would say for $9 a plate the portion control needs to go up, up, up! I get that squid / calamari isn't cheap but $9 for such a small plate is robbery. Otherwise the squid and garnishments were cooked perfect. Quality control is important here. Honestly I can't wait to try more of the items here. A lot of the stuff I wanted was sold out, the banh chung which was one. Definitely a great place for a date :)

Yelp
This place is finally open after waiting for many months! The interior has a cool and has a wood/industrial feel to it. The kitchen look is cool with the hanging shelves. Things tried on this trip: Wings - lemongrass: definitely unique and very flavorful. Wings - Chojang vinaigrette: the red sauce used in Korean food; Bo la lot - beef wrapped in betel leaf M.I.L Bibimap: super tasty rice bowl cooked in like the clay pot Bo Tai Chanh - rare filet mignon cooked in like juice. Watermelon slush margarita - fresh from the machine- can't beat that. Matchmaker - Japanese whiskey and matcha bitter (my fav drink so far) Everything here is delicious and worth trying. The service is great and fast. Definitely a cool place to check out!

Yelp
I've passed by Short Round so many times while passing through Hawthorne, but never stopped by until the other night for their late night Happy Hour. The place is smaller, but has a nice cozy atmosphere and lit up open bar where you can see all of their bottles in the racks. The Happy Hour menu is awesome with lots of snack foods and drinks, perfect for a late night bite. We ordered so many small dishes including the grilled prawns, grilled mussels, fish sauce wings, two orders of the chao tom (sugarcane shrimp) and the 'Jade Trade' and 'Robinsonade' cocktails. The mussels and sugarcane shrimp were my favorite. I love mussels, especially when restaurants make their own sauces to give them a bit more of a kick. Short Round's mussels sat in coconut milk I believe, topped with peanuts and onions - they were sweet and savory at the same time, coming with 4 to a plate. My friend had strongly recommended the sugarcane shrimp, so we ordered two of those. The shrimp is cooked around a stick of sugarcane, just like what you can get at Dim Sum (not deep fried though). Each order also came with vermicelli noodles, lettuce and carrots, with fish sauce on the side. The Happy Hour prices are definitely reasonable for food and drink. The HH along with the awesome servers who continued to clear our plates and check in on us, and wide range of dishes/snacks to choose from, this is definitely a cool place to come in the Hawthorne District!

Yelp
This restaurant is one of a kind. I have never had Vietnamese food served "tapas" style before so this was a very fun experience! I was a bit worried of not enjoying the food as I am usually critical about Vietnamese food but everything was very tasty! The only thing I would say is that my family usually has Bo Tai Chanh a bit more on the raw side; however, I understand why a restaurant would choose to serve otherwise. The fish sauce chicken wings were so good we had to order a second round. One of my food highlights during my visit to Portland and would definitely recommend Short Round to any friends or family. Also love the touch of an authentic Vietnamese character with the Au Vietnamese Tea can on each table. You can find that at every Auntie's house lol!
google avatar

Yennhu N.

Yelp
I made my way to Short Round because they were categorized at a sports bar on Yelp and I really wanted to watch the All-Star game. The pictures showed a a few big TVs up on the wall and I thought it would be nice place to stop by. To my surprise, it wasn't really a sports bar, they dont play any sound and keep the music playing in the background. They do happy hour from 3-6 each day. The menu has lots of options. However, I think some of the vietnamese items are pretty overpriced. The lemon grass pork banh mi was $7 (HH price)... A small teacup of vietnamese coffee was $4.
google avatar

Quynh H.

Yelp
First off the interior of the design was very nice it had a great industrial modern look. Second the service was great, the waiters were very attentive and nice. Lastly the food was really good and very authentic, I'm Vietnamese and grew up eating this stuff and they did a great job making the dishes I've been eating since i was a kid with a touch of modern culinary cooking to make it new yet keeping the traditional taste. 10/10 will be back again soon!
google avatar

RR P.

Yelp
We love this Vietnamese place in the neighborhood. Everything here's tasty. They've got really good cocktails as well. I really hope COVID won't kill these great locally owned restaurants. Keep ordering guys!

Yelp
I can't get enough of Short Round because their happy hour is delightful not only in food but price, too. I always order the filet mignon and meatballs pho ($7). It's not the largest bowl served because it's happy hour, of course, but it's enough to fill me up with a little extra room for an appetizer. That appetizer is usually the wings. They're satisfying whether it's with fish sauce or chojang vinaigrette and 4 for $4 isn't bad either. Another item is the grilled tofu banh mi ($7). It's actually a pretty decent size to share if more items from the menu look savory to try. Plus, a side of sweet potato fries are served with it. It wasn't the greatest grilled tofu banh mi, that goes to The Old Gold, but it did have good flavors and tofu grilled is probably the best way served. There are a lot more items on the happy hour menu including cocktails, beer, and sake but you have to be there between 3pm-6pm and 9pm-close any day of the week to take advantage of it. Prices are significantly higher outside of the happy hour window, otherwise.

Yelp
Just found my new favorite on Hawthorne. Delicious curry, great cocktails and a 9-10p happy hour - can't go wrong.

Kristina F.

Yelp
I really enjoy the menu, food, and drinks at Short Round. I love bringing my friends here. The staff, servers, etc are great.
google avatar

Yelp
Been here 30 times probably. Always late night because the happy hour 9-12 is solid, worth it, always comfort. Get the grilled mussels. Get the crispy smelt. Get the crispy roll. Get the grilled prawns. Get the kalbi. Get the chojang wings. Get the pho. Get the lemongrass pork banh mi. Good luck ordering. P.S. they have 6 local draft beers and 6 local draft wines. Not many places offer the beer/wine quality like this place.

Yelp
Yerrrrrrrrrrr! Go kick it with my guy Diego behind the bar. This spot is tight. It's fun and the space is dope. Always had a good time here, seriously stop sleeping on this place. The Bim Bim Bap is

Yelp
Horrible food, " pepper salt squid" was appalling, flaccid, pale under cooked, no seasoning AT ALL, everything else was completely mediocre, like eating in a mall food court. Horrible atmosphere. No reason to return, when the city is full of authentic Vietnamese places
google avatar

Diana A.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. It's a couple blocks from my work, so I went there at least once a week before Covid, and now I get takeout from time to time. The food is delicious. Their grilled meat is so much better than your basic pho place. And the service is great. Somehow, they always remember my most common order and all the picky details, because I'm high-maintenance like that. But they're still totally nice to high-maintenance me.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
First thing as we go in, the aroma, star anise, cloves and others. not quite pho not quite chai. then the space, loo-oong and skinny, funky wall board, strange physical environment. 1 pm the place almost empty. Loved the sticky rice cake & the wings. Abby's bun a huge bowl. Mike had the hot pot with two huge chunks of pork belly, quail eggs, broth a bit salty with all that pork. Loved my pho, plenty of well done noodles, strong spices, the beef super tasty, chewy meatballs, The bloody mary quite a productions (shrimp) & super tasty. cold crisp beers. Very friendly service. Flavors, spices, surprises & filling.

Hogo L.

Yelp
Uh oh, new ownership in September, 2022. I tried one of the new items on the menu and didn't like it. If my favorites (bún, Botta's and bánh mì) don't maintain their quality, I'll be devastated. This place has been a reliable standby for years.
google avatar

Tom T.

Yelp
Clumsy and awkward. Dishes served out of order. Main meal a little skimpy. I had rice noodles as a side. By themselves. I was not offered condiments. I don't think the staff knows that they have condiments. Yep, just rice noodles. By themselves. House drinks? God knows I'll pass!! One ice cube too many. Stingy on the booze. However.........the food was very tasty and prepared well. As for Wi Fi ? You need to be the "Amazing Kreskin" to work it out. Happy hour turned into frowny hour.( insert frowny emoticon here)

Yelp
The best Vietnamese food in town. Excellent service and always ready to bring friends into the fold. Big up to the homie who only works sundays nights, rock that service!

Yelp
Went here with friends. All the food here is amazing. For an appetizer, you should definitely order a pork belly rice patty (if you eat meat). I had that, another appetizer that wasn't as memorable and the banana rice dessert. I got full on appetizers. My friend ordered the Kalbi and it was a good serving but no rice only kimchi. I believe you can order rice on the side. The people next to us all had pho. For the little bit that they do offer, it is a good and strong selection. That drink though , while pretty, was a tiny 8 oz glass. Didn't get much drink for what I paid for. A little underwhelmed. Will stick to wine or sake next time I'm here.

Yelp
Haven't read any of the buzz about this place, but I'm sure there's plenty. It has all the makings of a hipster bar hangout. Hideous, uncomfortable decor, overpriced drinks that are "crafted"(see take 10 minutes to prepare), small plates of lovely food. The small plates aren't for sharing, the portions are way too small. The pho, bun, and hot pots are very good, but expensive. We went for lunch, totally doable, but I wouldn't think a table could be had on a Friday happy hour. I think this place will do well with the under 30 set.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour on a weekday. Definetly very good for happy. They have cheap drinks and food for happy hour. We got the Vietnamese fish sauce wings which wasn't what we hoped for, the wings could've defiantly be crisper and it's not like the traditional it didn't have any spicy chilli. The sugar cane shrimp was really good it came with noodles but the peanuts they sprinkled on top made it very salty. The grilled lemongrass pork banh mi was the best dish we had. The pork was seasoned well and the bread had a little crunch around it but very fluffy on the inside. We also got the mussels it was flavorful as well just a little salty for me. Drinks were yummy and the Moscow mule is actually served in a copper mug. Very casual ambiance and our server was very friendly.

Yelp
Finally! Short Round is open after months of walking by, staring at the windows in anticipation. I am a fan! This cocktail bar with Korean and Vietnamese fusion bar snacks has some nice cocktails (try the mule with the house made ginger beer, or the L.I.T cocktail for a refreshing gin based libation.) They have happy hour daily from 3-6pm and 9-10pm. Food is great. We loved the lemongrass pork banh mi, which was packed with succulent, flavorful meat. The fried smelt, grilled tofu, and anchovy/nut mix (kind of like a fish granola) were good as well. Definitely check this place out for a drink (or two) and some snacks.

Yelp
Awesome place for small Vietnamese bites and drinks. Definitely try to take advantage of their HH if you can. Daily from 3-6. We ordered: -Beef Pho -Lemongrass pork bahn mi -Grilled mussels -Grilled prawns -Fried smelts -Salad roll Everything was solid, no complaints on any of the dishes we ordered. All that deliciousness and drinks for a killer deal. If you like fried fish, you absolutely need to order the fried smelts. Salty little bites of flavor that go well with a beer.
