I’ve been coming here for almost 2.5 years. My husband works close by and we found this place so we could have lunch together. So happy we found it. They have become like part of our family. The food is delicious but the customer service is what really makes this place different from others. They remember your name, order, but have meaningful and thoughtful conversations. Jaylynn and Bri are the absolute sweetest. They have seen our family grow from 1 to 2 babies and have been so kind to us. Please don’t skip out on this place!! This place is mediocre at best. It's not horrible but the wait time isn't worth the quality of sandwich. Busy or not I've never waited less then 10 min for a sub. Customer service is great but the quality of sandwich just isn't worth more then 2 stars. I don't get all these 5 star reviews it's miss leading.

I love going here for a local sandwich! They always have the best variety and my order is always right even with modifications! I would recommend ordering online since the line can get really long and it can take a while to get a sandwich, especially during lunchtime. Lots of casual tables and chairs with a ton of grab and go options. The only reason why I'm giving them four stars is because the hours are very limited and they close at 2 PM.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat before flying back home. Very convenient location to the airport and the food was quick! I went with the #6, which is ham, turkey, and bacon. I had them add everything except tomato's and onions. The bread was so soft and delicious and everything seemed so fresh. The prices were reasonable and the dining room was clean. This was a busy spot at lunch with a lot of regulars grabbing takeout orders or grabbing a seat. We will definitely be back.

Normally this is my jam. Sometimes places have off days and I'm ok with that. Ordered a lettuce wrap and they didn't have full leaves but gave me my Sammy on a bed of lettuce 2 Thumbs up. Just a note: Please next time don't include the turkey rinds. They're hard and distasteful and I feel I don't get a full serving of turkey.

Two large sliced pickles to start with came this way. Lots of bread. To start with, the bread is soft but should go with cold sandwiches, not hot pastrami that would go better with a French role. The pickles were thicker than the pastrami on the sandwiches ordered. The pastrami had good flavor. The price was good for what we got. The service was good and nice restaurant.

Wha's most remarkable about Shortys isn't necessarily the fantastic, quality food, the comfortable and tidy dining space, or even the fast and friendly service. What strikes me is the familial bond of this small business. in the food industry you don't expect most employees to stick around for very long, but there is a sense of loyalty and family among the Shortys staff. They stick together, supporting each other as they work together, and it's a testament to the way the manager runs the store to see how happy and close the many long term employees are.

This place is tucked away in a business district but don't sleep on it! It is clean, quick, and service was great! After reading the reviews I went with the #5 the Italian bomber! I paid $14 for the chips, drink, and sandwich. The bread and meats were super fresh and great! I will have to try the turkey avocado next time. They have potato salad and macaroni salad as well and they cater! Give this local business a shot!

The Italian bomber is pretty legit. Friendly staff. Good soft bread and hearty sandwiches at reasonable prices. Why would anyone eat at subway or any other chain sandwich shop when this place exists?! Big sandwich charges more for less....eat local.

Seriously do not understand how this place has over 4 stars. I tried once and it was good. I went back and it was terrible. I thought, maybe they had a bad day and my friends and I tried again....waste of money. Most recently we tried again (yesterday) and we are done! Look at my photo and see if this vegetarian looks like it's worth $10. Come one, how hard is it to put mayo mustard and veggies between bread....the sandwich was mostly bread and truly a disappointment. They clearly don't care about the customer, so 4 out of 4 of us will not recommend or return to this place. What a disappointment.

If you like meatball subs, this is definitely the place to get one! The meatballs seem homemade and are huge! Great taste and honestly one of the best meatball subs I've ever had! The service was friendly and quick! The restaurant is pretty good size and relaxing as well! Sit down and enjoy a meatball sub and getting a nice cold refreshing Dr. Pepper!

Ordered as part a group order. Specifically stated no tomato because of an allergy. It's written on the invoice and box. Opened up the sandwich and it had tomato. Ordered jalapeño chips and I received a small bag of Doritos. There were multiple issues with our order, so we will not be ordering from here again.

Really like this sub shop, but when I asked for lemon for my iced tea, he charged me .50 cents and when I questioned it, he was surprised I asked, like it's normal to charge for lemon for tea!!

Such an amazing place to grab lunch. Was in town for work and had it four days in a row and would do it four more if I could. Tried the Philly, meatball, and chicken club...all were excellent and the staff was even nicer than the food was good. Highly recommend!

First time customer - last time customer. Ordered the hot Pastrami sub and it was floating in mustard - enough for 2 subs. And who puts mayo on a hot Pastrami? And the pastrami itself was 1/3 gristle. 1 star is generous for this mess of a sandwich. The only good part was the pickle but it was coated in mayo as it was shoved into the sub itself. Sorry, but Jersey Mike's subs are far superior.

My 100th review HAS to go to my favorite local sandwich shop, Shorty's! Seriously, I crave Shorty's whenever I think about sandwiches- no one does it like them! I was first introduced to Shorty's when I started working nearby. They have a deal if you work in the area; a combo is $6-7 instead of regular price ($6-8 sandwich, add $2.50 to make it a combo)! A combo comes with the sandwich, chips/or Mac salad/potato salad, and a drink! This is a STEAL because the sandwiches are LOADED!! They don't skimp on the meat!! I get full off of half of the sandwich! My fave is the Italian bomber- ham, salami, pepperoni, and peppers. The BEST! The Turkey, Bacon, Avocado and the club are great as well! Really you can't go wrong with Shorty's!

Been coming here for awhile. One of the cashiers, Gabriela, has outstanding service! I get my sub quickly and I'm back to work. I always change up my sub and every single one is great!

First time here and I will be back. Delicious sandwich at a very fair price. Nice fresh soft bread with plenty of meat on my Italian Bomber. They offer a loyalty punch card as well ( buy10 get one free) great stop for lunch as it was a very quick turn around from order to eating.

Well I can definitely say that Shortly s has a large variety of choices and makes their subs fresh, fast and for a very reasonable price. They are always consistent no matter which sub sandwich I choose, with a combo I'm completely content and satisfy after lunch until my next visit. Oh and the staff is friendly and attentive. Try them you won't be disappointed!

Many businesses line the Broadway corridor in Phoenix which equates to so many lunch type restaurants in the area. This was my first trip to Shorty's and my initial impressions were positive as I saw a lot of people eating as I entered. One item that immediately caught my eye that is a rarity in any business is a hand washing sink located by the soda fountain. If you are a fan of my reviews there is one in particular that stands out as not having a restroom or a place to wash up. Back to Shortys now. Busy restaurants usually mean good food and lots of people eating is a sign they don't have issues getting the food out. There is another restaurant that I have tried to get back to down the street but when I enter the business I don't stay because of the line and most of the patrons are waiting for food. Shortys has an extensive menu of cold sandwiches, a few hot ones, salads, fresh baked cookies and some breakfast offerings that are available until 11am. As it was lunchtime and always looking for a good Italian sandwich, that is what I opted for and ordered one "with everything". The sub I received came on a pillowy super soft sub roll that was wide like a party sub. The bread was delicious and the meat portion was good and was adorned with super thin sliced lettuce and onions, tomatoes, pepperoncinis and a pungent vinaigrette that was noted in every bite. The restaurant is spacious and clean and worthy of a revisit to try another sandwich. The only other observation I am going to share has to do with the sandwich structure of my order. Italian sandwiches are all primarily the same but as I dissected my sandwich I discovered most of the meat was ham followed by a thin slice of pepperoni and a thin slice of salami and a thin slice of provolone cheese. I also noted when observing other customers pictures of their sandwiches that this is a consistent method of assembly for their Italian sandwiches. Other restaurants usually offer a more balanced blend of cold cuts rather than so heavy on the ham. Overall a positive experience.

I was singing "Shorty swing my way" by K.P. & Envyi all the way there and back. (10 points if you can tell me the year that song was released.) Shorty's is a popular lunch spot on Broadway Avenue in Phoenix for many that work nearby. It's a no frills sub shop that provides a quick lunch at a pretty decent price. The service counter staff was friendly and the food was good. I definitely didn't feel "shorted" on the amount of meat in my sandwich either. Thursday is Hot Pastrami sandwich day, so of course, that is what I ordered! It was a simple yet hearty sandwich. Hot Pastrami on a signature "shorty roll" served with melted provolone cheese, mustard, and a couple of pickle spears -YUM. I added a drink and some potato salad and made it a combo. Couldn't resist grabbing a chocolate chip cookie (which I later gifted to a friend). Parking is a bit tight, but nothing too bad. It seemed like the neighboring businesses didn't mind when parking overflowed to their parking spots either. They have a loyalty program too, so make sure you pick up a punch card if you work nearby or plan to visit often. After the 10th punch you get a free lunch! That's about a 10% savings of a typical combo lunch considering my meal today was about $11.

Wow, wow, wow! I just had a Shorty Club for lunch during my break from work, and I had grabbed a side of potato salad and macaroni salad to go with it. I had the sides first, and I have to say, it is so refreshing for a sandwich shop to offer something on the side OTHER THAN POTATO CHIPS. The potato salad and macaroni salad were extremely good, tasted like they were made fresh. I asked for no onions or vinaigrette (part of the works on top) but my sandwich was still nice and thick with fixings on an extremely soft, slightly sweet sub roll. What's even better is that the bread was so soft, but still held the sandwich together without any fallout (maybe a shred of lettuce or two, but otherwise totally perfect). I have to grab a menu to take back to my office the next time I stop in!

Love this place- and it doesn't hurt that it's a block from my office! Shorty's is a simple sandwich shop that never goes wrong. The sandwiches are huge, bread is always fresh and they do not skimp on ingredients. Best part is the price is just right. Sandwiches run around $5.50 and the most you will pay is $8.00 (The Phoenix which has everything on it!). Service is also great here. I have never been in when any of the counter people didn't have a smile and quick to help. Overall this is a must try sandwich stop!

Went in for a quick sandwich on lunch break. Order a hot pastrami. Waited about 25 minutes. Went up to the counter and was notified it was made and went out to someone else. Finally got a new one and it's cold. What a waste

I've been here a few times. Recently I ordered two sandwiches for takeout for myself and a friend at the office. We ordered two of their Phoenixes, which have turkey, roast beef, bacon, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. We asked for no tomatoes on one. They gave us a regular Phoenix and a B.L.T. We didn't realize the mistake until I got back to the office. I called them back, and asked if they could deliver the correct sandwich, but they didn't have a delivery driver. They said we could come back to get it, or they could give us a free sandwich the next time. We opted to eat what we had and ordered again a couple of weeks later. They honored their offer, as they had a note at the cash register so I only had to give my name when I called for our new order. This place has great sandwiches that are a good value. They are filled generously with fresh ingredients. The prices include tax. We will definitely be back again.

I was looking for a good sandwich shop that served a pastrami sandwich and found Shorty's that had good ratings for their pastrami sandwiches and they were not wrong. I highly recommend this sandwich shop.

We were visiting Phoenix from Ohio, and couldn't decide where to eat lunch. OMG! I am so glad we saw this place! The sandwiches are delicious. I got the Super British, and my husband got the Italian Bomber. It was so good! The toppings were fresh. The meat was so good. And that bread......that bread was so soft. It was the best bread I've ever had. If we had a place like this Ohio, I would eat here Monday through Friday.

So I've past by this place on my way to work and I always wondered how this place was. Do today I was craving a sandwich and soup on this beautiful rainy day. Well I walk in and it's a nice little sub shop, lots of seating, clean and awesome music playing. I was treated by a young lady who was very nice and I ordered a #8 (Turkey, bacon, avocado) and a LG drink. I will say I am a sucker for a good sandwich shop, and it's hard to find good places that arent commercialized like subway. The usual. I loved that the bread was nice and light, the tricky was shredded and didnt taste so packaged, the lettuce was finely cut the amounts of mayo and mustard left every bite flavorful, they didmt hold back on the avocado , bacon I wish was a little more crispy but that's my preference and I'm definitely not a vinaigrette fan ,but their house vinaigrette gave it the extra whistle. Only thing I was kind of bummed out about was they had no more soup, but I wont let that affect my eating because I had a late lunch at 2pm so I could have figured that much. I definitely will be back. Thanks for the great lunch shorty's!

Sooooo good! Perfect ratio of all the ingredients to their sandwiches and you can taste each one. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Brianna was so sweet while taking my order. The food was so good, we ordered more to go and she remembered my name. There weren't too many customers after me while I ate, but remembering my name was still a big deal to me. Good amount of seating inside as well as two small tables outside. The parking is good, however we came as soon as they opened so not too sure how crazy is gets later in the day. They have self serve fountain drinks which includes a delicious, fresh brewed iced tea. Do not sleep on this gem, you will not be disappointed.
