The wait time was HORRIBLE. We waited around 30 minutes to get seated and then another 30-45 to get our food It was pretty busy but still inconvenient. The server was very sweet, told us about the special, the different sauces, etc.. The food itself wasn’t life changing, but it wasn’t disappointing. The first couple of bites were amazing, but as you kept eating it didn’t taste like anything crazy. The buttermilk pancakes were pretty good, but definitely needed the additional maple syrup. The special of the day was very good, super stuffed on the inside which was a nice surprise. The So-Cal wrap was a little bit disappointing. However, the food did all taste very fresh, and the homemade hot sauce was delicious. Overall, would come again to enjoy some brunch, but the food is not worth waiting for during peak time.

Google
Shorty’s has been my husband’s and my go-to favorite breakfast spot for nearly 4 years now. We eat breakfast here a few times a month, and it is hands-down our favorite. I am a creature of habit, so I almost always get the same exact thing (the potato bomb!) and it’s always a perfect breakfast. My husband loves to try everything, and he has never been disappointed. They often have amazing specials on the board when you walk in, and he enjoys checking out the rotating options they’re always coming up with. When they ask you what kind of toast you want, DEFINITELY go for the zucchini bread— it is otherworldly good. The super sweet waitresses are always so kind and friendly, and they keep the coffee flowing the whole time. If you are looking for a new breakfast spot, don’t hesitate to come here!

Google
We came from out of town to try this place based on its google reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. We went on a Sunday, and there was like a 20 minute wait for two of us to get a table. After being seated, service was ok…not perfect, but not necessarily bad either. My husband and I both really enjoyed our breakfast meals that we ordered, and we both agreed that we liked the breakfast potatoes here. More often than not, we can’t seem to find a place that has good breakfast potatoes, so it was a pleasant surprise. We loved that they have some menu items that are different from a lot of other breakfast places, and the prices were fair. It’s unfortunate that this place is a little far away for us, but on days we have a little extra time for breakfast, we will definitely consider this as an option.

Google
I loved this place!!! The food was so good and their zucchini was delicious! If you ever go there definitely try their zucchini bread and go early because their wait is sort of long. For breakfast I would definitely recommend the French toast because that was so good.

Google
We got two Deluxe Breakfasts, substituting pork roll for the bacon. The eggs and marble rye toast were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were the star of the meal and were very tasty. The pork roll was a disappointment. Instead of the expected 1/8"-1/4" sliced served by other restaurants, we each received 4 tissue paper thins slices. Plus, instead of being grilled with upturned crispy edges, they were soft as if they were steamed. The quantity wasn''t even the equivalent of 2 slices of bacon. It was neither tasty, nor a good value, and we would never order this again.

Google
After years of wanting to try this place, we finally did. Unfortunately, we left a little disappointed. The homefries have peppers and onions mixed in with a red sauce and not to our liking. Not sure why they don't serve regular homefries. Also, when ordering the home fries and a burger, we were told how they were made, not asked how we would like it. While the pancakes were good, we probably won't be back. That's not something worth another trip.

Google
Worth the 45 minute drive. The homemade zucchini bread is so good! We loved our entire meal. Great coffee, cinnamon apple oatmeal pancakes, homemade biscuits and potatoes. Great service. Cute decor.

Google
I go out of my way to come here. Incredible food at reasonable prices and warm and friendly staff. I’ve been coming for years and most of the staff has stayed the same which I really like. It feels like every kind of person is welcome here. I often come by myself and I really enjoy it.

Yelp
There is always a wait for Shortys but it never takes long and there are plenty of places to sit and wait. The menu is stacked with options for breakfast & lunch and have additional specials to check out too! The potato bomb was everything you need in a breakfast bowl. It also came with so many choices for bread including biscuits and zucchini bread. The iced coffee is also delicious. The staff here is so quick and attentive even though they are running around like crazy! Always a good experience!

Yelp
Cute, quick breakfast with outside of the box menu items! Sunflower Cafe is next to our local gym, so we typically behave in heading home after, but changed it up to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Was sat readily with seat of choice and was greeted quickly by our server. My husband decided to try the Hot Mess Omelet, a side of Scrapple (his signature must try) and my being The New Green Deal. The Hot Mess had an unusual, tangy sauce which was a fun surprise. All food was well done. A curve on the thin sliced scrapple, but tasty. Tried a slice of the cornbread - there is one recommendation in it being a bit dry, so needed some warmth and butter. My Green Deal was lovely! Never had quinoa and egg scramble together, but I will again as an at home replicate! It was fresh and refreshing, nothing greasy about it. Portions were large so I am eager to have my leftovers for breakfast!! Solid job in food, service and quality for price. Sunflower's is certainly a local recommendation!!

Yelp
First time trying the today! Came in after 1:00. No problem getting served a Wonderful meal!! Service was great and the place has a really coo vibe. Go check it out.

Yelp
I tried to give a new review on Google but since I already left one last year, it wouldn't let me. So I'll leave one here. The Spring Valley Village Ladies Luncheon had a return visit here on 10/10/24. Again, we had a wonderful time. Delicious food and superb service from Jenn.I have to thank Jenn for accommodating the extra people so graciously. Everybody enjoyed it so much. Thank you for a great repeat performance. Yelp
Excellent breakfast and service. A bit of a wait on a Sunday but well worth it. Everyone in our party of five enjoyed their meal and the zucchini bread was yummy.

Yelp
Very good breakfast food with an extremely kind staff. The food is locally sourced and the menu has many creative items

Yelp
Good food and friendly staff. Waits can be longer when the weather is nice, but that just speaks to the quality of the food.

Yelp
If I'm ever in the neighborhood, this is a REQUIREMENT. The food speaks for itself. I always get a side of zucchini bread (imagine your grandma's zucchini bread meets pound cake). Their menu has changed since the pandemic but if there's something off the menu from the past that they can still make, they'll whip it up for you. I got an off menu item (Texas Toast Egg in Hole) with the sour cream on the side. The also have a lot of daily specials that are worth catching before they run out. If you're looking for a local spot with bottomless coffee and small town vibes, this is that place. It's very family friendly as well! Pro tip - get a loaf to go! They were out of zucchini loads so I got their pumpkin bread loaf and it was great days later!

Jane S.

Yelp
Very Poor service. Waitress never came back for coffee refill Eggs requested over medium were runny. Potatoes just flat!

Maria L.

Yelp
I give Shorty's Sunflower Cafe of five star for food service and ambiance. It's like visiting your Mom's Kitchen getting great homemade foods they have amazing breakfast and lunch dishes every time we go I always have a difficult time trying to decide on which one cuz they're all fabulous. My only downside is I wish they were open longer and open Mondays and Tuesdays but you can't have everything make Shorty's another one of your stops for an excellent breakfast or lunch

Yelp
Our favorite place to get brunch. Simple and yummy food paired with the best coffee. Will be back again and again

Lisa S.

Yelp
Bright cheery spot! Friendly staff who checked in with us frequently. The main attraction is of course the food! Creative and layered flavors can always be enjoyed in their specials. I chose to go with a special-theMexican Corn omelette was extremely delicious! Opt for the biscuit instead of a bread choice!
google avatar

Christopher K.

Yelp
This is one of the best local breakfast spots around! The service is as great as the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing but good vibes. Well decorated, clean, friendly staff and delicious food. Very welcoming atmosphere ver all. Show picture is just half of my Monte Cristo sandwich (Cafe Cristo) to better view layers of ingredients. Perfect! Hit the spot. And my friend very much enjoyed his Brick House sandwich. In nicer weather they even have a nice outside area set up. Bravo! Good job! Hope.

Yelp
This is my 5th and last visit to this spot. I wrote another review somewhere below, and I kept going back because my first experience was so lovely, but each subsequent visit was a mixed bag of nope. I love the menu concept and I love the potential vibe of this spot. It's eclectic, creative and inviting. I think the issue is the service. They make you feel unwelcome. If they screw up something, you can expect to feel like it's your fault. This time they gave my sandwich to the wrong table and I had to walk my wrong food back to the front because my server was clearly overwhelmed and wasn't coming back any time soon. More on that to come. So I explained that the sandwich I received wasn't what I ordered, and I got the usual death stare. They said they would fix it, and I sat back down and watched in horror as they took my sandwich... the one that was put down at my table and left there for me to lift up, inspect the inside with my hands before returning it, and they brought it to the table it was meant for and offered it to them?!? My touched sandwich, as she ate the sandwich that I was supposed to be eating, was offered up as a second tainted sandwich. That floored me. Lunch came and went as my lunch partner finished their hot food and I never received mine. I gave up and my server finally returned after the entire meal was over and we asked for the check. Our service was so absent, she said, "of course, I have it right here for you. I'm assuming everything was amazing?" She didn't even know I never got my food. I'll give credit that they didn't charge us for anything, but it felt more like we did something wrong than an apology for completely screwing over our lunch out. And I don't know what the deal is with the stingy condiments but if your table asks for ketchup, you get one tiny little thimble-sized ramekin to share regardless of how many people you have. We won't be going back anymore. Seriously this time.

Yelp
A great meal, especially a great breakfast on a Saturday morning, should leave me feeling warm and fuzzy. Today, Shorty's really nailed that for me. I'm local to the area and for years have heard nothing but great things. My wife and toddler have been multiple times, even! But today was finally my turn! It's super unassuming on the outside, and I was surprised at how spacious it felt inside. Nice vibe, felt like a blend between cute kitchen & homey diner. Everyone was very friendly, the booth and high chair were both clean. Now the food was just... amazing. There are a number of solid breakfast places in the area. This is better than those places. There's true creativity on the menu here, and everything I had was perfectly executed. They have a rotating specials board, and I ordered the ranchero wrap (eggs, potatoes, cheese, heirlooms beans, salsa verde) off of that. It was huge and fabulous. They have a house-made cranberry hot sauce that worked shockingly well with everything else on the plate. My wife and toddler split chocolate chip pancakes and thick cut bacon. They both ate their fill off a short stack order, with bacon to spare for me, so the portions were quite generous. Our waitress was kind, responsive, and even got a smile out of our toddler, who is in the middle of a stranger danger phase. 11/10, will be back. And I'll remember to take pictures next time!

Yelp
Excellent brunch time food. Very friendly service and tasty options. Accosting with special requests.

Yelp
Delicious food! They never disappoint!Great options to choose from. **The drive up service is a plus with covid and just especially for the convenience. The staff is always very pleasant. We always look forward to our meals from Shorty's Sunflower Cafe!!

Yelp
Love this place! Service is great and food is always amazing! Crab dip grilled cheese is my favorite lunch

Neil M.

Yelp
Omlets singed / burned and very dry. asked for ketchup for everyone at table and they brought a 1/2 oz cup with a squirt of ketchup. that one was for three of us to share! they said it's against rules to give the bottle. its ketchup not truffle oil and saffron laced with gold leaf!!!!!!!! no butter on toast. side of sausage means ONE SAUSAGE (1). uno! i get that they hate sausage by reading the woke menu. used to be good here. now its just overrated and they don't care about the customers that made them. leave your politics at home Sunflower! i wont be back.

Yelp
Great food plenty for the price and great atmosphere would eat again here when in the area --love the decor and ambiance -service is fast and pleasant - i had the skillet so much food zucchini bread awesome

Tomas B.

Yelp
This place has potential . However , It has a limited menu and the waiting room is about 25% of the restaurant . The service is pathetically slow even with three cooks. from the moment we came in and left was 95 minutes. So if you have a lot of time this is a place for you. It's breakfast it's not complicated. The potato bomb still came out cold in the middle makes me think they are pre made them heated . I enjoy supporting local business the whole point of going out is to have a good food with stellar service.

Yelp
Delicious filling breakfast for a fair price! Inside was cute and cozy, our waitress was outstanding! Very excited for another breakfast here (:

Yelp
great food, really fun options that you would never think of that taste great. i always get the new green deal with a side of maple siracha and not once has it disappointed me nor have i gotten bored of it. 100% recommend

Yelp
Another place I've been meaning to try. Done...and this one did certainly deliver. Found a free morning to get up early with my wife and make the 22 minute drive to Shorty's Sunflower Cafe and we were fortunate to arrive before the rush. Parking lot comes up fast and the entrance isn't very well marked unless you are paying close attention. We ended up behind the building and walked around to find the entrance. Getting those extra steps in. Super friendly folks here, letting us know we could sit wherever we liked since it wasn't too busy, so we grabbed a hi-top for 2 near the window and we were greeted right away. They offer a dark roast coffee ($2.75) if you like the higher octane and it was pretty darn good. I did some early research before arrival, so I knew I wanted to order the Flying Dutchman, which is 2 eggs any style in a stack with scrapple, wheat toast, apple butter and home fries on the very bottom ($6). It was the perfect amount of food for the price and since it was so inexpensive, I also ordered a couple whole wheat oatmeal pancakes to try too. They advertise 3 for $6, but you can order just 1 or 2, which is amazing. Eggs over-medium cooked perfectly and it was not a messy meal either. I didn't get a lot of the apple butter, to be honest. I forgot it was even listed on the menu, but I'm sure it was in there. Just very light. Potatoes were cubed and soft, but not mushy. Nice spice with some onion and pepper. Much better than over fried potatoes, or bland shredded hash browns. Pancakes were very hearty. Cinnamon was a nice touch for whole wheat option. Our server checked on us a few times, made sure our coffee was refilled as needed and we were out the door in 40 minutes. The place was starting to fill up as we made our way out the door. Very much looking forward to trying more items. For the service, the fresh eats and price, this is easily a 5 stars for me on this visit. Well done!

Janey H.

Yelp
Franklin teachers love ordering from Sunflower Cafe on our in-service days. We all get our favorites and everything is so good! The food is excellent and so is the service. Thank you for making our day
google avatar

Yelp
Homespun. Good food. Diner like vibe. Three breakfasts ordered. Three arrived in good time. Everything fresh. The zucchini bread was really good. An actual cross between a too sweet muffin and actually bread. A nice balance. The ambiance is a little scuffed. And slightly funky.I think you could call it trendy shabby chic, but it is probably pushing it a bit too far. I'd be happy to visit again when I am next in the area.

Yelp
Really a nice find in Pottstown. Great service and the food was unique and delicious. Our waitress Jess was wonderful.
google avatar

Amber R.

Yelp
So much great food for a great place. Can't wait to come back again. I had the animal, Greta with the house mad hot sauce. The homemade jelly was delicious.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Been sitting here waiting for our order. It's been half an hour at least since we placed our order and the restaurant is almost empty of people. Giving it five more minutes then we will kindly ask for our coffee check and leave. Incredibly poor service. This was our second time here, was hoping for a difference experience. Food finally arrived. So-Cal wrap was good, French toast was nothing special.

Yolanda O.

Yelp
Food is good and service is ok. Ambiance is cool and vibrant. The place is very roomy.

Yelp
I met some friends for breakfast at this cafe today. Love the friendly staff and fast service. I had a veggie omelet with home fries and rye toast. The omelet was stuffed with zucchini, peppers, onions, tomato, spinach and cheese. I also ordered a side of scrapple which was cooked perfectly. The kitchen was accommodating with orders making it easy for my friend with a little one to order something he would eat. This is definitely a family friendly restaurant. There was not a big crowd during my visit but it wasn't a popular time or day. I know this is a popular spot for locals so you might want to plan accordingly if you intend on visiting on a weekend.
google avatar

Eats M.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I've been going here for years and years. The food is mostly consistent. Perfect place for a weekend brunch. Only thing is, if you go here hung over, hopefully you don't get the loud waitress! P.s. the home made bread is off the hook
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
OMG Dirty Eggroll! Out of this world! Can be a little pricey but the food is fresh ingredients for sure!

So W.

Yelp
This place used to be a favorite. Glad to see then success. Really. But lately the food isnt what it was. But even that's ok by me. What was irritating is the menu. Everywhere we go politics has invaded. Cant watch a sports event, show, movie, awards, without politics being shoved at us. Cant we just have breakfast and relax without political support being waved in our faces? I dont care what cause you back I just wanted some damned eggs and toast! Please! Just stop. But they wont. Too woke. Wont return.

Ken R.

Yelp
Good food and happy vibes here. Breakfast here was an awesome way to start the day. Easy parking. Hope to come here again when I pass through town.

Theodore Z.

Yelp
Love this place! Sat outside and enjoyed breakfast. Loved the Zucchini Bread and the whiskey mustard sauce was great. Highly recommended!

Ray F.

Yelp
Ignorant server, 30 min wait time, meal was ok.

Yelp
I've been going to Shorty's for years and normally I would give them 5 stars but this last visit was a little rough. The food was amazing as always and I'm pleased to see they have started adding some adventurous options to the specials. They used to change their menu frequently so I'm hoping this is a good sign that the menu will continue to evolve. There were two of us and we waited a reasonable 15 minutes to get a table on a busy Sunday morning. Where it went wrong was after we were seated. It took another hour and a half to get our food. The issue was not with our waitress, she was very attentive- I think they had too many people for what the kitchen was able to handle. It's unusual for them since there's not many breakfast options in Pottstown, and they're used to busy weekends. I'm hoping this was a fluke because I really love eating here and it's an institution in this area. I will try again and see what happens!

Kendy M.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. It was highly recommended, but fell a little short. Overall decent, but was expecting better.

Desiree D.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Wait staff is quick and friendly. Love this place. Unique and delicious dishes. You won't be disappointed.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Love getting breakfast here. Had the New Green Deal today and it was amazing! Open faced omelet, quinoa, potatoes, greens, avocado cream - so delicious! And they now have Everything Biscuits - wow. YUM! Creative menu with basic staples as well. There can be quite a wait, so come early or late!
google avatar

Danyell E.

Yelp
I'm about a week late on this review so excuse me. Anyway my friend and myself decided to go here to catch up. Neither one of us had been here before and we had both been meaning to try it. Once we got in it took us a few moment to get seated. Noting crazy. The atmosphere is nice. It's a warm and cozy atmosphere. Different decor and fresh Daisy's around. Our waitress came over and gave us the specials and asked us if we needed help with the menu and got our drink orders. She was very nice but you could tell she was very busy. My friend decided to order French toast and a scrambler. I ordered a special. I'm sorry I forgot the exact name of it but it was potatoes, eggs and their famous crab dip grill cheese all in one dish. Now after we ordered I will say it took soooo long for us to get our food. I mean we even noticed a couple that had obviously been there before keep getting up asking about where their food was. Not a good sign. Now when we did get our food to me it was worth the wait. Though the wait was disappointing. But Let me tell you my dish was very hearty and filling. It tasted really good. A lot of carbs but hey it was very flavorful. I will say I wish I could have tasted the crab more. My friend said her dish was good but she didn't like the texture of the bacon in the dish was. She said the French toast was great though. I ordered some French toast to go. I would go again and try other things on the menu.

Andy S.

Yelp
First time here and it was delicious! Staff was friendly. Quiet atmosphere. We had a great experience.

Lori K.

Yelp
This place is perfect for lunch near Pottstown! Loved the chicken salad and zucchini bread.
google avatar

Elle M.

Yelp
Been here twice and my only issue is they don't stay open long enough and it gets packed if you don't go super early (which I should just bite that bullet and get up early). But the first time I got an enchilada and the second time just some eggs with veggies and potatoes which were honestly fantastic. Their pancakes always look good but I never tried, yet. I do wish they had eggs Benedict

K S.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a while but always a great breakfast stop when in the area. My favorite thing is the "biscuit bread" that you can get instead of toast. It is hard to find places that offer biscuits in the North and this place gives two thick slices so good.
