Shoryu Ramen Soho - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Shoryu does a very good bowl of ramen for less than a tenner, and you can easily get a beer and share a couple of sides for less than 20 quid. The noodles here are very good and servings are generous - it’s a big bowl of comfort that’s perfect for a solo dinner or a chilled out dinner with friends. They’ll do you a solid plate of yakitori or sashimi if you want a bigger meal, and it’s usually easy to get a table as a walk-in." - David Paw

Where To Eat The Best Ramen In London

"Shoryu makes a very good bowl of ramen for just over a tenner, and you can easily get a beer and share a couple of sides for less than 30 quid. The noodles at the Japanese ramen spot are tasty and servings are generous—it’s a big bowl of comfort that’s perfect for a solo dinner or a chilled-out dinner with friends. They’ll do you a solid plate of yakitori or sashimi if you want a bigger meal, and it’s usually easy to get a table as a walk-in at one of their locations across London, including in Soho, Kensington, and Liverpool Street." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, daisy meager

London’s Best Ramen | Where to Eat Tonkotsu and Shoyu Ramen Noodles | Eater London

"As diners enter a branch of Shoryu, staff bark the traditional Japanese welcome of “Irasshaimase!” while banging a drum — a reminder that Shoryu is part of the Japan Centre’s mini empire which heralds each new addition to said empire with a huge barrel of sake and festivities into the night. Shoryu’s 12-hour pork bone broth is showcased in a number of Hakata-style ramen dishes, with dracula tonkotsu being a particular garlicky favourite. If that wasn’t enough, diners can crush extra fresh garlic onto their noodles at the table. There are interesting choices for vegetarians too, with broths made of tonyu soy milk, miso, konbu seaweed and shiitake mushroom. Shoryu also serve up Kirin Frozen — a unique Japanese import of super-cold beer served with a frozen whipped top." - MiMi Aye

Absolutely loved this place! The ramen was rich and full of flavour — perfectly balanced broth with fresh noodles. The tempura was incredibly light and crispy, not greasy at all. And the "frozen beer"? Genius! So refreshing and fun, especially with hot dishes. Great atmosphere and friendly service too. Can’t wait to come back!

You need to make a reservation if you want to go to the busier locations. If you try to walk in you'll be waiting a while. Mainly because the servers aren't very attentive, they are nice, but a few of them seem lost on this occasion. The food is really good and if you hit a good service night, you'll have a great meal.

We went out as a group and had a lovely experience. The staff were super attentive and friendly. The food was very authentic, delicious, and full of flavour. I love RAMEN, and this place is next level — definitely a 10/10! I would highly recommend it and will visit again.

Another place I just happened to have stumbled across. Waiting for my show to start I decided to have a spot of lunch. Lovely authentic Japanese experience. Food reminded me of my days in Japan. Had the curry snd everything about it was superb. Chicken, rice and the sauce was to die for. Not to overpowering but lovely and moreish. Service was fantastic. Lovely young staff that are attentive and friendly. Had the Japanese frozen beer too. Also if you have a valid cinema or tickets for a show you get 20 percent off. Lovely!

Great experience here. As a group of 6, we really enjoyed. The trainee waitress was lovely and efficient. Head chef was excellent and so friendly which added a nice touch. We recommend the vegan broth which was delicious, as well as the frozen beer.

I loved the food and service. Amazing place, especially Takiyosa and Japanese Frozen Beer was amazing. Lovely waiters, always smiling! Definitely will come again!

A little slice of Tokyo in Soho with a punchy twist. We slurped down bowls of ramen that were rich, velvety, and heartfelt, courtesy of a 12-hour tonkotsu pork broth delivering smoky depth and umami luxuryThe noodles thin, straight, and perfectly al dente at times were a delight, though a few reviewers found them softer than ideal The real standout? The classic Katsu Curry was a crowd-pleaser, crispy chicken katsu soaked in a silky, eleven-spice Japanese curry, perfectly paired with rice and those addictive rich broth. It's no wonder it's a staple for returning diners. Service and atmosphere hit high marks too—enthusiastic, welcoming, and consistent, even when it’s busy. It’s the kind of spot where you feel fed with flavor and good vibes.

Yelp
My trip here was an impulsive last minute 11:15 PM ramen stop while still in London for one more night and happy that I ended here. This location of the local chain was the latest to stay open and we made it before the kitchen closed at 11:30 PM. We were promptly seated and got some time to review their menu. We ordered a variety of menu items including their bun and cucumber as appetizers and they were both tasty. The big kicker was their tonkotsu ramen. From tender chasu to a super delicious/flavorful broth...this was simply a fantastic ramen. Best tasting among the 3 places I've tried while in London. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place to all!

Yelp
Stopped in on a chilly day for a nice bowl of ramen and was not disappointed. First off, I love that you have the ability to order directly online from your phone. It was so easy to scan the QR code, check out the menu and place my order. In fact, I was even able to get my Ramen just the way I like it because normally I'm too shy to ask the server to remove all of the ingredients I typically tend to eat around. It was quick and easy, and my order came out right away. Speaking of my order, I started with the gyoza, which came out still sizzling hot. They were perfectly crispy, but not burned. Next up was my Ramen. I opted for the one with the extra rich and creamy broth, which also comes with an extra egg. Additionally, I asked for the hot sauce on the side. I'd never tried this Ramen place before, so I wanted to try the broth before completely obliterating it in the hot sauce (which I definitely ended up doing, and LOVED it!). Between the gyoza and the steaming hot bowl of soup, this lunch definitely hit the spot. Seems like they have some sort of midday, happy hour, special pricing, however, I did not arrive in time to take advantage of that. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely return to check it out.

Yelp
The ramen here is delicious and so warm. They have traditional ramen as well as variations that are vegetarian. They have "buns" that have pork or tofu. You can make a reservation or walk in. The portion size is large! They also have a kids meal.

Yelp
Overall the ramen is good. The noodles are softer rather than chewy. And the broth leans toward the heavier and saltier side. This is a very decent bowl of noodles. However our food didn't come out for 30-40 minutes and after talking to a worker, we found out our waiter forgot to put our order in. This was pretty disappointing because we were starving at that point. He obviously felt bad about it and took the service charge off of our receipt which was nice.

Yelp
With about an hour before our matinee show in the West End, the hubs and I sought out a place for a quick lunch. He was in the mood for ramen and I'd walked past Shoryu several times during the week without realizing what a gem it was, but one glance at the reviews and ratings online indicated it would be our best bet. We arrived and waited in line behind a few other folks. None of us had reservations, but the host was accommodating all around. We were seated in the far dining area at a long bar with other diners facing the window. We ordered green tea, one BBQ pork bun, gyoza, Shoryu ramen, and a Dracula (garlicky) ramen with soft noodles. Everything was great, but our gyoza never arrived. Thankfully, it wasn't included in the check, so it was likely just a server oversight. We couldn't believe how delicious and authentic everything was! This is definitely a great spot with high-quality food and efficient staff. The thing that most amazed me about the ramen was that it arrived at the perfect temperature. Usually that first bite burns my taste buds, but not so here! I loved the seaweed, nuttiness of the sesame seeds, and incredibly tender pork. The hubs loved the super-garlicky Dracula flavor. If you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend this spot, even if you don't have a reservation.

Yelp
We came here by accident after wandering around London Soho. Apparently this place is a chain, but it's still pretty popular. We ordered the pork buns, Dracula ramen, and the karaka tartan. They even provide fresh garlic in the side for you to crush into the soup if the base is not enough. I did that on my already garlicky Dracula ramen and my girlfriend would not talk to me for the rest of the night. Oops. The food is good but they definitely use a lot of msg. Not a huge issue but you'll end up thirsty. I overall thought it was good and enough so that I would go again.

Yelp
I am admittedly a ramen newbie, but this little Japanese ramen specialist on Denman Street was a wonderful surprise on a recent trip to London. It was a cold damp day, classic London weather, and we were hankering for a quick bite before heading out to an Arsenal football game and a big meal later that night. When we tried to open the door, people were spilling out due to the line! But the host managed to seat us all quite quickly as they turn tables over at a rapid pace. We split the spicy miso vegetarian ramen bowl and added seaweed and kimchi. I sipped on a special higher priced green tea and my husband enjoyed a matcha. The choices of ramen range from traditional with pork and a poached egg to vegetarian options. They also have sushi rolls and other Asian specialties. I was blown away by the flavors and that our spicy miso broth was not nearly as salty as I expected. The noodles were yummy and my tea was warm with great depth of flavor. I don't know how this place compares to other local ramen joints but our experience here was really very good and I would certainly come back for more traditional ramen when we are a bit hungrier.

Yelp
My friends and I were so happy to have stumbled upon this place near picadilly circus! After walking around London all day we were getting a little hangry and chose Shoryu Ramen because it was very busy- go where the crowd is, right? Our waitress gave us a rundown of the menu and we placed our orders. My friends went with the most popular ramen bowl and I chose the spicy veggie ramen bowl. The noodles were absolutely delicious & truly hit the spot! The soup was pretty spicy though- and I consider myself able to handle a good amount of heat. My friends liked their bowls as well- commenting that the egg in the soup was really tasty. For about £12 a bowl, the price was right for us- we left full and no longer hangry. Definitely would recommend to people traveling in the area!

Yelp
The restaurant charges a Mandatory Service charge 12.5%. Food is otherwise good. Ambience is good.

Yelp
Came here for dinner a couple Sunday nights ago and had a good time. My friend and I showed up around 7 PM and were able to snag a seat right away. We shared the Chicken Karaage and then I ordered the Kotteri Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen. I'm not a fried chicken person, but the Chicken Karaage was nicely flavored and not too oily. My ramen was delicious! The broth was nice and rich, and the pork was amazing. It instantly melts in your mouth. I had my noodles cooked medium, which was perfect for me, but you can tell them how soft you want them. I wish they had a version of this ramen with a light kick to it (seems like the spicy things on the menu were really spicy), but it was delicious. Service was pretty friendly, would definitely come again!
google avatar

Kenny D.

Yelp
So disappointed in our visit. I ordered the Dracula Tonkotsu and it was really bland and i had absolutely no garlic flavor. After I was done with my bowl I noticed that the table next to us had garlic cloves and a garlic press, so our table wasn't even set properly. The worst part was that I ordered a few appetizers as well but they didn't come until 15 minutes after I had finished my ramen. DO NOT get the char sui rice bowl, it's just two pieces of bland pork and some pickled veggies over rice. Needless to say the service is terrible, no one to come around so no one to ask where your food is. I mean who needs to provide service when there's already a service charge added to your bill right?
google avatar

Al A.

Yelp
Bomb.com. Ramen is pretty simple so if you looking for a complicated intense review this ain't gonna be the one. It's small so if you don't mind possible sharing a table, make a res.

S C.

Yelp
Full bodied broth, perfect egg, tender pork and fresh veg served with firm ramen. The Kirin was ice cold, and service was excellent. The wait was not terrible, even though the line was long and the environment was boisterous and casual. I had the OG tea too and it was superb. Perfect stop at the end of a long day of shopping and night out.

Yelp
This is the latest opening from the Shoryu chain. I was here for the soft launch with 50% off on all ramen and the place was constantly full. Seating is much closer than the other Shoryu locations, which means it get really packed, but I didn't see any deterioration in service standards or serving time. The staff were all really upbeat and did a great job managing the constant crowd. Food is standard Shoryu food. Yummy broth, well cooked noodles, great buns. This outlet has a large wine list and a few extras on the food menu. I don't remember poached eggs as an option at the other Shoryu's or maybe I'm mistaken? Yummy food at the Tottenham Court Road station area. At least now I have a healthier option, if I want to grab a late bite when changing buses at this station.

Yelp
Super disappointing ramen and dining experience, both the broth as well as the noodle consistency left much to be desired. Total overkill on the green onions as well as the pickled ginger--no one needs that much pickled ginger. The broth was incredibly watery (probably why there was so much ginger, to make up for it) and the noodles gummy and limp. The sliced pork topping left much to be desired, flavorless and mostly fat. £11 on average for a bowl of ramen isn't worth it, and in Soho, there are much better options like Bone Daddies, which is right down the street. Also had a side of Shishito Padron Peppers, which sound interesting, but for £7, save your cash as these were quite lifeless and dull. You get 10 or so little green peppers with dipping salt, womp womp. When we went, they were out of fried brussels sprouts. The venue was incredibly stuffy, hot, and uncomfortable, and we had to request glasses of water multiple times. Location is a little hectic as it's right on the edge of Shaftesbury so you're going to have to hack through the crowds of tourists just to get to the little nook where the shop sits on Denman. I wanted to return to try the bao tacos, but after this experience, I'll probably save the hassle and calories for a more interesting place like Bao Soho. I'd even take my chances at Ippudo.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Ticking another ramen place off the list! For the London ramen lover I would place the type of ramen as a cross between Ippudo and Bone Daddies. They have a bit more adventurous combinations (for the Bone daddies lover) but also classic taste (for the ippudo lover). My friend had a cha siu bun which was tasty ( I didn t try it). As for the ramen, my friend got the classic tonkotsu and I had the dracula tonkotsu. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the broth was super tasty, although my ramen were overflowing with garlic (hence the name dracula) it didn't mask the beautiful taste of the broth which I found really good! Shoryu is right up there with all the favorite ramen places in London and I would gladly come back anytime!!!

Yelp
It was a late night and I was roaming around Piccadilly Circus, hunting for a bit of food after a long evening of exploration. At 10 PM, I happened to stumble on Shoryu and they were open. Service and seating was very quick, primarily due to the time of night - and even at that, the server was very kind and attentive. I ordered the chicken wings and Karaka Tonkotsu and both items were spot on. The flavors were strong, but not overpowering, and the ramen itself was cooked just right. Their drinks were good, but not great or really mind-blowing. If you're around the area and looking for a late night spot to eat, this will fit the bill.

Nomad M.

Yelp
More like3.5 star but I want to round it up to four since service was good and efficient. Coming from NYC where ramen shops are popping up every corner and have been to Japan multiple times, I couldn't say Shoryu is in the top tier. But with all fairness, it is above average among ramen shops outside of Japan. I was introduced to the shoryu by a friend when I visited London last week. We went to the one on Denman street on a Friday night. Busy but the wait time wasn't too bad, prob about 20 mins. For comparison, the wait time for Ippudo or other somewhat decent ramen shops are at least 45 mins. I tried the Kimchi Seafood Tonkotsu which, instead of the traditional char siu topping, came with loads of seafood, amago, Kikurage, Nori, Spring Onion, Beansprouts, Sesame & Fried Shallots. The broth was rich and though not as spicy as I would prefer, warming me up tip to toe on this cold winter night in London. We also took the sake flight which was pretty good value - for under 10 pounds you got 4 shorts of sake - junmai and ginjo, I believe. I also tried the White Natural at Regent Street location during lunch the other day. It was vegetarian friendly - ramen in a Shiitake & Konbu Gluten Free Soy Broth. it was light yet packed with flavor; feels very healthy. Perfect for lunch. Best part - quick and no wait. Services at both locations were consistently good. Will definitely come back next time in London.

Yelp
Ever since I saw their huge bowls of ramen and their Hirata buns through the window of the Carnaby branch I have been dying to go here. A friend and I decided to go for dinner before the cinema so chose a restaurant closer to the Piccadilly Vue. On a Friday at 6pm we hadn't booked but were able to walk straight in and get a table (bewarned the whole table must be present, as I was 15 minutes early but they wouldn't seat me until my friend arrived). The staff are friendly and you receive a warm welcome (including a bang of their gong) on the way in as you pass through their iconic Shoryu curtains which adorn the doors of each restaurant. We chose the hottest day of the year for a massive hot bowl of ramen however the restaurant itself was kept cool with air con and luckily the restaurant had plenty of tables so we weren't crammed in even though we were sat on a sharing table. We had received a flyer while walking down the street for free gyoza each (such luck!) when ordering a bowl of ramen so we decided to take it steady on the buns (needed to save room for cinema snacks!) and just ordered one pork belly bun (£4.50) to share. Most of their ramen dishes are based on their tonkotsu pork broth (Each pan takes over 12 hours cooking and is made of collagen, fat, marrow and calcium and combined with 'motodare', a concentrated base of soy and spices to create the final soup) and then laden with thin noodles, which they ask how you would like them cooked (I went for medium). They all contain char siu barbecue pork belly, nitamago egg, kikurage mushrooms, spring onion, sesame, ginger, nori seaweed. The variants from there allow you to get a slightly spicier broth, a broth with lots of garlic, meatier broth and also a choice with seafood or chicken in. I chose the Dracula, which has the addition of caramelised garlic mayo and garlic chips sprinkled on top and my friend went for the Kotteri which had a much meatier broth. Both were really really good - filling, warm and HUGE. Neither of us could finish them. I thought there was plenty of pork (which was so tender) however my friend thought there could have been more for the price. My one niggle was the cold egg however I just didn't eat it :). On the table you also have a pot of sesame (which I didn't spill - honest) and a bulb of garlic along with a crusher so you are able to add additional sesame/garlic to your taste, which I thought was a nice touch. The pork gyoza are served in a VERY hot skillet but to be honest for me were a little bland and chewy. The only real let down was the pork bun which was cold with a chewy, glaggy bun - I have definitely had better from a few different restaurants in Soho. To drink we both stuck to tap water which made the bill with tip a very reasonable £16 each (with free gyoza as well). Although it is £12 per bowl of ramen, I would definitely come again. They are so filling there is no need for any sides so for a delicious tasty dinner out £12 seems reasonable. I will wait to enjoy on my next ramen on a winters evening though.

Yelp
Very close to Piccadilly Square, in one of the side streets. Being welcomed in Japanese at this restaurant already makes the experience worth while. It's usually very crowded but I've always been lucky so far. The tonkotsu ramen are one of the best I've had, I went for the signature dish and every time it did not disappoint! I ordered gyoza as an appetizer once but could not finish the ramen then. Big portion!

Yelp
Kotteri Hakata tonkotsu was the bomb! Asked for the noodle hard. And the egg was delicious

Matthew G.

Yelp
The second best ramen in London. Yes, second isn't Bone Daddies! Shoryu have some great tasting ramen. Kotteri Hakata is my favourite. They have a great selection of ramen and lots of sides to pick from too. I always go for the Pork Belly Bun. Loads to drink too, wine, tea, soft.. This suits me perfectly. Dining can get pretty intimate as you often share a table with other diners. I'm rating 4/5 because I know there is a better ramen at Kanada-Ya.
google avatar

Bernardo A.

Yelp
Shoryu was a pleasant surprise for me. As a ramen lover I'm always up to try new restaurants that claim to be great at preparing it. Plus, it would be my girlfriend's first ramen experience. The menu is self explanatory so that newbies won't feel aside. I had the shoryu signature ramen and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was amazing. I can definitely say this was the best ramen I have ever had! (I've never been to Japan ;) ) Overall I was happy with the experience specially because we both enjoyed it a lot! I would just point that the waitresses could be a little bit more proactive and outgoing. Oh...I almost forgot. The mochi is AMAZING!!!
google avatar

Tim L.

Yelp
Shoryu does some things very well. There's no denying that their soup base is good, it's not ridiculously rich like bone daddies but you get enough to order another portion of noodles when you're feeling hungry. You get the choice of tenacity with noodles, so if it's not to your liking, well, it's your own fault. The starters (I've had the salmon okra, the fried chicken, the Hirata buns), are all okay, but over-priced. If it were just the noodles I would give Shoryu an easy 4 stars. However, some of the flavours are a bit hit and miss. I never understood the yuzu ramen, which is sad, being both yuzu and a ramen lover. All in all though, generally happy with the tonkotsu based ramen, the tonkotsu flavours comes out well in all of them, even the curry ramen. Do visit, everyone I talk to has their Shoryu/Bone Daddies/Tonkotsu/Ittenbaru allegiance. I'm still mixing things up ;)
google avatar

Tammy T.

Yelp
Shoryu gets really crowded really fast. We tried coming here a couple times previously but have been scared off by the queue. To avoid queues, come at an off-peak time! Only when we decided to go for a very early dinner were we able to be seated immediately. Anyway on to the food... the karaage hirata bun is a MUST! Really delicious. Soft bun with juicy fried chicken. I had the dracula ramen, which was very nice. The broth was rich and tasty, but wasn't overly salty (which is my main complaint about Bone Daddies). My one complaint was that there was far too much garlic! I usually love extra garlic, but they were a bit too generous for my liking. Come here for delicious ramen. Enough said!
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Delicious ramen, tasty appetizers. Okay salmon sushi roll. While I agree with other reviewers of "where's the Japanese people?" the ramen itself stood up by comparison to stuff I've had in Japan. I'm glad we got there during off hours,it was already busy. I'd recommend the place.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Ordered the original ramen and enjoyed it. The broth was very flavorful and there was a good helping of noodles and toppings in there. The egg was nicely cooked as well. The edemame had a good bit of salty seasoning on it and was a good starter. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
I like the location and set-up of the Denman St spot but somehow the food tastes better at the Regent St location. There is a more space at this location and the furniture and airiness just feels cozy. The Piri Piri broth was spicy and flavorful but from what I remember, my tasting of this dish at the Regent St location was better. Also, similar to the Regent St. location, I think that the fried chicken could have a crispier crust. Other than that, the dish had nice juicy white tender chunks and came with some spicy powder and Japanese mayo. Service was fast and friendly. Chicken Kara Age Fried Chicken- crispy deep fried soy, garlic, and ginger marinated chicken Shoryu Ganso Tonkotsu- signature ramen, a tonkotsu and miso broth with added spinach and garlic Piri Piri Tonkotsu ( s )tonkotsu with a spicy chilli kick

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing! We decided to stop in for lunch and the food was phenomenal. Reasonably priced and the service was great. Next time I'm across the pond I'll definitely visit again.

Yelp
Being a ramen enthusiast from US, I had to check out this ramen joint. Its definitely a good sign when you have to wait in line outside the restaurant. The wait was not long. Once we got our table we were able to take our orders in a timely manner. I have to say, this is by far the best ramen I've ever had do far. The broth is very savory and the meat almost melts in your mouth. YOU HAVE TO TRY THEIR RAMEN!! Also, order a pork bun as an appetizer--you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Janice L.

Yelp
Am absolutely in love with this place! The location is a lot more spacious than its other location and not to mention to ramen is stays true to its authenticity in terms of flavour, toppings, and those extra dingalings you get to add on to your bowl for that extra kick. Mushroom with tofu and their fishcake starters are rather oily.. Was rather disappointed with their fishcake when it came in form of those rolled ready made ones you can get in supermarkets. The cheese wasn't particular either. As for the ramen. Oh bless me, I'm already salivating. Dracula Tonkotsu's broth was as described, thick, and bowl full of flavour. The pork based soup tasted a bit fatty.. But in a good and authentic way. The full on toppings also didn't disappoint. I'll give the quality of their thin noodle 4.5 stars. Either way, it tasted heavenly, heavily garlicy, and should never be ordered if you're on a date. Their ramen ranges from £9.50 to £11.50, I'm stuffed, though the price is a little steep for ramen don't you think? But again, this is London. You're eating Japanese in London. Europe. God, how I miss those cheaply billed New York days.. My second visited called for a miso based broth which I had secretly regretted after glazing over my friend's bowl of Char Shui tonkotsu. And hell yea there were so many pieces of char shui my friend literally said-- 'can't deal'. Oh, and sights of some Japanese eating there, so that should be a good confirmation right? Overall, Ichiban Y'ALL!

Yelp
Most people so far will have tried this place as a result of the superbly generous 50% off ramen deal. As a result will have missed out on some of the starters. This review is partly to tell you don't, as the Hirata buns are unmissable. Service is not normally one of my complaints (food is king amongst all) But when it affects me getting a free starter, it's gonna make it into my review D: Basically we queued for a while then were taken to our seats by a man that reminded me very much of Mr Miyagi from the Karate kid (no offense to anyone intended) with a friendly smile and similar dress. There we were left. Nobody attempted to ask us if we wanted drinks, nor were we given any menu. So we just kind of sat there a while till we decided it was becoming a joke and asked for menus. Once ordering, we looked around and little plates of raw cabbage were being handed to every new group that was being seated around us. Now I didn't remotely want or have a need for cabbage at the time, but if you don't get something everyone else is getting, then it's a matter of principle. This really annoyed our group. Anyway, this poor service is reflected in the 4 stars. The food itself with no feelings to hurt, was a different story. Stunning. The starters, Hirata buns with bbq pork, chicken and salmon were TASTY. Think soft white chinese steam buns flat and folded in half. I ate two by myself and they aren't small. We also got the soft shell tempura crab which was okay. That extra hirata bun and the crab was a small mistake along with ordering 1 ramen and an extra to share with the group. After all 50% off means you should eat 50% more right??? Well the ramen soon arrived and I was around 40% full but looking forward to the delicious Hokkaido curry ramen that had been smelling so good on the table for a while. The chicken karate well crispy, despite being submerged in hot soup. The pork broth still standing out against what appeared to taste like katsu curry. I was convinced I had ordered the best dish. The noodles were particularly nice. Good texture and firmness without getting soggy throughout the meal. The cold ramen is also good. The chilled spicy mince sauce was different to anything I've tasted as a dipping sauce with flavours hard to identify, but citrus was quite strong. Anyway, I was sad that our group couldn't finish the extra bowl of cole ramen. Anyways, I hope to go back, hopefully before the 50% promotion ends :) We shall not make the same mistakes we did on this visit and over-order with some luck.

Yelp
So the word on the street is that Shoryu has been opened by the Japan Centre, so off I went for lunch with a friend. The place is sleek looking, black design, dual store space, although the tables are slightly cramped together. At lunch time it was super busy, must be a testament to how good its food is. I believe I had the dracula ramen (can't remember - see photo) and I remember the broth was quite mild but I prefer this broth to the broth at Tonkotsu and at Bonedaddies. The egg however, pales in comparison to the runny yolk amazingness that is the egg at Bonedaddies. It is not too thick and creamy, how this compares to authentic Japanese I could not say, but it was nice and gentle to my sensitive stomach. Drinks on the other hand could do with some work. My lunch mate's drink tasted horrible, and mine was just decent. It felt like too much ice went in so it went a bit too watery. Please introduce some nice drinks for people like me, I have a super sweet tooth. I do not really care that much if the drink is super unhealthy :) Overall, I think I would come back here again, maybe to try the hirata bun, but Flesh & Buns come first for that.

Yelp
Closed at 10, not 10:30pm. Showed up well before closing and were not seated. Lame. Cynical as I am, I always assume that's just staff not wanting to work late. If you're open until 10:30pm, you should take seatings up to 10:30pm.

Yelp
Always thought this was a small Shoryu branch judging from the exterior, but actually they've got plenty of seating inside. Still find it weird that they greet people in Japanese but if you try speak to them in Japanese they won't get it. Lol. In saying that, Shoryu's are not bad for a chain. And this one has pretty good friendly service. I just find it awkward when they change their English accents when speaking to me.. I have perfect English btw. It's my first language.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best ramen places we have been to. Now we have a go to ramen place in London! Everything was great and the service was fast. The place is a bit fancy so be prepared to spend 30 pounds per person. Our server was Manuel from Italy and he was absolutely great! Feel so bad that we forgot to tip him though :(

Yelp
A chain in the London area. Ramen broth was good. Portion good size. Gyoza not on point. Chicken bun could be better. Ordered the flight sake. Not impressed. Looking for some good old fashioned hot sake, but not available. Should have tried the whiskey instead.

Yelp
My poor, poor wallet. This place was delicious but definitely overpriced. £52 for a dinner for two was too much (though I admit we chose some of the expensive options). The origin tonkatsu ramen was yummy and I finished it quickly. At £9 however, it is a bit much for the small portion. I was still hungry after. We also ordered green tea and salted caramel mochi ice cream, both of which were amazing, but at £7.90 for three small pieces, I sadly don't think I can afford those again. I also bought the £6 pinky lychee jasmine tea, which was mostly ice, watered down, and too expensive. Would not recommend. Also, the matcha detox at £9 is way too expensive and quite small. If only the menu were less expensive, or had bigger portions I would come here more often, as the food is quality.

Yelp
Wow I didn't know it was possible to screw up pork buns but shoryu surely did. The bun was soggy and cold filled with mayo and the pork was thick, dry and tasted old. Took one bite and couldn't continue, haD to spit the pork out because it was just all dry bits. The ramen. I got their signature ramen, I've never had tasteless tonkatsu broth before but I guess they watered down whatever they had to make this soupy grossness. It was basically noodles with a million bits of chives. The char Sui in the noodle wasn't bad but it didn't compensate for the broth or the noodles. I was thoroughly impressed with how bad it was. Only giving it 2 stars because my male server was so nice, the female server was terrible she literally threw people's dishes down in front of them

Yelp
3.5 but eating around NY & LA has made me picky. It was cramped & pricey because its your only option around the area. Service & location was good. I enjoyed my time

Yelp
Prefer Kanada-ya and Ippudo over this, but they win out over Bone Daddies. ~ Gyoza was fine, but felt a bit over the top. ~ Broth was a bit too fatty and salty for me. Noodles were fine. Chashu wasn't special.

Yelp
It's a pretty decent place to eat if you're looking for somewhere that takes real care over the food. We had the original tonkotsu, Gupta and yakitori plus, best of all, the beer slush puppy - Kirin Frozen- a drink with a big white head of icy lager. Delicious! It's not a particularly cheap option, despite the 'cheap eats' award proudly displayed in the window. £49 for two including that one beer each. I will definitely eat here again but I'm not sure that I'd make a big effort to walk past Wagamama to get to it. It's so n our way from the pub to the tube, so very convenient.

Yelp
The first time I came here the food didn't really impress me. But then I started to like the broth a little more.

Yelp
I've been here 60+ times and I always end up ordering the Karaka Tan Tan. The place is amazing, you should try the Tonkotsu broth ramen in any of their varieties. One of the most tasty tonkotsus i have tried in London. The ingredients are really good, you won't be hungry after eat this. The buns are pretty good as well. Regarding service, they are all of them really kind, and willing to serve you. In addition, they have a reward program with some free dishes or price cuts each 5 visits.

Yelp
It's a bigger restaurant than the other one in Piccadilly. But that doesn't mean the food tastes different or anything! Still love the food and the ramen! The servers are also very friendly! But if I were thinking about eating on my own, would more likely to go to the other smaller restaurant.

Yelp
Convincing tonkotsu ramen, and believe me I've had enough to know. The Hakata tonkotsu is rich, with enough umami stickiness to pass muster. Gyoza is fried to perfection, with a lovely crust. Served with a delightful ponzu dipping sauce. Staff are polite and knowledgeable, service is quite fast - that said, we came in around 2.30pm, and there was barely a crowd. Good stuff, although a touch pricey. Worth a visit to satisfy your ramen cravings!

Yelp
We stopped in today for late lunch. The staff was very accommodating considering how hot it was outside and part of the seating are had an A/C unit not working. The manager Francesco was swift in getting us comfortably seated. Service was terrific. My companions had pork buns and curry ramen. I had the lunch special with their signature ramen and gyoza. All was delicious! Loved our meal and great service!

Yelp
The place looked modern and bustling. When I entered I saw that they advertised they were Michelin recommended, so I was even more excited. Upon being seated, it took the wait staff quite some time before even taking our order. It was a simple order for my group of three: a Shoryu steam bun for my sister, Kotteri Hakata Tonkotsu for my brother, and a Karaka Tan Tan Tonkotsu for myself. I should note that a table of two sat down about 15 minutes after us. They somehow got their food way before us, and it looked suspiciously like exactly what my group ordered. Even the two people looked confused but ate it anyway. We eventually had to wave down our waiter and ask where our dishes were. Sure enough, they mistakenly gave it to another table. Once we did get our ramen, it was actually quite delicious. A nice smooth creamy broth. They could have turned the ginger down a notch though. I had a hard time shaking off the service (or lack thereof). I mean, not once did anybody check on us to see how everything was. Would I go again? Probably not. While the ramen was good, service makes up a good part of an experience - and they missed the mark there.

Yelp
A complete disaster service! They have hired a bunch of 20 years old student that have absolutely no clue what they are doing! We asked the first girl who sat us to explain some stuff she said she needed to go get someone else & then came a guy to take our order so we said we needed to ask some questions on the menu & we aren't ready to order! When the food was served& suddenly when I was trying to grab some noodles which my chopstick & half way to my mouth, a waiter popped in front of me without giving me a sec to swallow, asking for the last order cause they wanted to close the kitchen & pretty much everyone else to the end of that evening came almost pulling out plate from our hand while asking if we were done!! Cause they were in such a rush to close down!! And they even cleared the table from all the sauces & spices while we were sitting & eating there!! The food wasn't all that special either!
