I knew from the moment i walked through the door that i would be back again. not only was the food was one of the most amazing experiences i had but chef yee was the one who made it special. he walked us through all the food every piece was made was with precision. and then it became personal, rarely i see korean fluke in omakase and i got to have it (twice) and feel the nostalgia of my grandmother back in korea would feed me. beyond the fluke, every fish brought out was curated with thought. bring your partner, your friends, or even by yourself. you will not be disappointed. i will be back again!!

Google
My favorite omakase in NYC, the menu is curated to perfection, the vibe is amazing. Chef Yee is a true professional and expert. Also this location is phenomenal perfect for celebrating with friends before a night out or any special occasion!!!! Thank you to the wonderful team at Shoshin!!!

Google
Absolutely stellar intimate meal. Every dish had a unique, inspired flavor combo, and I will be thinking about this meal for a very long time. Been to a lot of omakase places and have to say had the most amount of unique flavor combinations at an omakase place I've ever been to. Absolute masterpiece of omakase with incredible price and ambiance. Had such a lovely time here, with the best chef ever!! Cannot wait to go back

Google
Writing this as I’m sitting in the restaurant. Chef Yee is amazing and is a master of his craft. Don’t hesitate to book a reservation here. Every bite of sushi we had was better than the last. They are unique and among the best I’ve had the pleasure of having in the city.

Google
Great omikase for the value! Each piece was super fresh and the service was great. Very small and intimate but we enjoyed our dinner!

Google
The first course was already different - love the bluefin tuna cocktail. The Incredibly generous portions. The foie gras, uni portions were easily twice the amount at other omakase places. Chef Yee didn’t disappoint. He threw in an extra piece at the end which was his own unique version of crispy salmon that we requested his consideration that piece be offered as one of the regular pieces in the 12-course menu. The hostess was attentive, always filling out cup with hot tea, sous-chef was professional and Chef Yee engaging. The other difference is that this omakase place starts when u arrive around the time u made reservations. You don’t have to wait for everyone else to arrive!

Google
I’ve been to many omasake spots and this is the best so far. The ambiance is great, servers are really friendly and the chef has a great sense of humor, which makes the whole experience even better. The fish is really fresh and delicious, my fav was the Akami with truffle seaweed puree. The last piece Unagi Foie was immaculate! The flavors are well-balanced, quality exceeds the affordable price. Overall a great experience, would definitely visit again!

Google
Absolutely love this place, it has become our new favorite omakase place! The atmosphere is amazing—intimate yet lively—and the chef is not only incredibly creative but also super welcoming. Every visit is a fun experience. The food is unbelievably fresh and full of flavor. Can’t wait to keep coming back, highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Shoshin 68 is such a gem. We did the 12-course omakase for $68 and every bite was so good. The toro lightly seared with salt was insane, the otoro with caviar was luxe, and I loved the little pickled radishes along the way. The unagi foie gras handroll was crazy decadent and one of my favorite bites of the night. At the end we added the surf and turf with wagyu, uni, and caviar which was just as delicious and over the top as it sounds. The house yuzu sake was delicious and we ended up having a little drink with Chef Eric at the end which made the night even more fun. The pacing was perfect, and the vibe wasn't stuffy at all. Fun for a nice date night or meal with a girlfriend! Honestly one of the best deals in the city.

Yelp
People, you don't know what you are missing. This place! Omakase for under $100 in SoHo. 16 course menu where the chef guides you through a special culinary experience. Small and intimate. Recommend coming Halloween night to enjoy the show.

Henri C.

Yelp
Ridiculously expensive for nothing much! It isn't worth the money, and the place is small and cramped.

Yelp
Food was little too hyped up not like the best. The place was smaller than I thought. I would recommend Bar sitting instead of Tatami room. Overall it was alright.

Yelp
Lots of under $100 omakases opening up across the city and this one is a gem of a find. $68 for 12 courses is such a great deal. We sat at the counter and the chefs were very friendly and service was great. They have a seasonal menu as well. At the moment they don't have a liquor license but they said it's coming soon. The fish is fresh and presentation was clean. If a no frills, just good sushi omakase is what you're looking for, def give this place a try.

Emma B.

Yelp
Chef Yee is THE BEST!!!!! Absolutely love it here and actually think this is the best omakase out there. It's not "just a sushi restaurant" and really has a wonderful menu and flow of set courses that are unique from other omakase spots. I've known the chef since he worked at another omakase spot and was elated when I learned he was opening his own spot and it's even better than I could have imagined. Also after having attended the incredible grand opening, it's only gotten better. He also made me and my group his special salmon and Parmesan off menu piece which blew my mind. IYKYK!!!! The BYOB is also a huge value add (especially as someone who loves wine). Very much a spot for local regulars which shows how well regarded it is, and the team treats everyone so nicely. Definitely sit at the bar - you get the full experience up close and personally. Not sure the deal with the review from the guy who seemed upset about his experience but do not listen to his review - you will love it! Don't even think about going to other omakase spots, this is the one. I absolutely cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
I came here the other day and had a great experience! The staff were super nice and even though we arrived earlier than our reservation time, they accomodated seating us right away. They served us complemntary green tea and pickled radishes. The server was very attentive and filled back up everyones tea. The bathroom was also super nice, fancy, and clean! We got the basic menu set which was 12 courses. For an appetizer we got toro tartare which was flavored so well and came with a crispy chip on top that we were supposed to break and mix into the tartare. Every nigiri piece came with a really big piece of fish. At other omakase places I can usually fit the whole piece easily in my mouth but with these I was really stuffing my mouth. The larger portion of fish on top of each nigiri made the entire meal really filling and I was suprised to actually feel full afterwards. The nigiri tasted pretty fresh and the chef dressed the pieces in really unique, yummy ways. For example, pieces came with toppings like pickled wasabi, turffle nori puree, ponzu radish, and so on. After our meal, the chef gave us all some complemetary crispy salmon on the house which was seasoned well. I also came here to celebrate my birthday and they prepared a little card as well as 2 pieces of vanilla ice cream mochi plus a song on the house which was really nice of them!! Overall, the staff was very friendly and the meal was fresh and filling. Would definately recommend coming here!!

Yelp
I brought my girl here for a date and simply don't understand the positive reviews. The service was abysmal. An hour before we were set to be there, we received a text sitting. It was BYOB, so we had to track down alcohol. When we got there, the chef was drinking *the entire time*. He must have interrupted us at least 6 times to "take a shot" while we were having an intimate conversation. Just asinine. And there was three women next to us that were out of control screaming. Instead of intervening and telling them to calm down, he keep doing shots with them, which made them more belligerent. They started a fight with my date and the staff did nothing about it. The food was force-fed to us every could minutes. They clearly were just trying to get us out of there to get the next party in - all in all, a horrible experience. Go to Blue Ribbon next door - it's phenomenal in comparison.

Yelp
We made a reservation in advance and arrived at Shoshin68 just as the omakase experience for our time slot began. The space is compact, with one long serving bar and two dining tables, which made the atmosphere feel intimate. We were seated at the bar near the window and served 12 courses of excellent nigiri and hand rolls. Since we booked through Pulsd, we also received unlimited green tea and house-made pickles. Two sushi chefs prepared everything with skill and personality, sharing stories about the restaurant along the way. It's a great spot for a date or a night out with a close friend.

Dieter B.

Yelp
Was here for dinner about a month ago. A drunken bunch of bridge and tunnel women started a fight with another patron. The chef, who was drinking all night behind the bar (but they don't serve alcohol!?) kept giving them more booze like a moron. Us and another part left early. Food was mediocre and ambiance was worse.

Yelp
Wanted to come in here on a previous date, but it didn't work out for me, so after looking at them online for a while, we came now to celebrate a personal milestone! The omakase was delicious, a lot of different flavors in every bite, and the pickled radish was a great cleanser between courses. It was a friendly and intimate environment - we loved talking to the chef about life and learning a bit more about sushi. Definitely worth the price and will be back! Highly recommend.

Graham H.

Yelp
Great food and very affordable especially for Omakase. 4 star rating mostly because of the service, which felt unorganized and like it was sort of being figured out in real time.

Yelp
Chef Yee was amazing! Every dish he served was delicious. He was also very personable and made us feel at home. Not only was the food excellent but also a great price of $68 for 12 courses! I'm from LA and you'll never find an Omakase of that caliber anywhere close to that price. If I ever find myself in NYC again I'm definitely paying Chef Yee another visit.

Yelp
We're in New York for a business trip and stumbled upon this new spot in Soho, which just opened a week ago. We were absolutely amazed by how incredible the experience was definitely one of the best omakase I've ever had in the city. If you get the chance, definitely give it a try! Each course was a work of art, It truly feels like a hidden gem that won't stay hidden for long.

Yelp
A fantastic, new Omakase spot in SoHo! Especially the perfect fit for any first timers. Chef Yi did a great job personalizing the experience for us and was extremely attentive with our reactions to each bite. Also a huge thank you to Jason, our server, for the warm hospitality and ensuring our sake glasses were never empty! This place is new as they've only had their soft opening, but we came in on a Monday night and all the seats at the bar were booked up. Definitely a fun and elevated ambiance with great music. My favorite part was it did not feel transactional at all - we were welcomed to drink with Chef Yi and continue talking with the other chefs and server. This is my new go-to spot!

Yelp
What a fun time! Everything was great, but the best thing was the Toro!!! The Chu Toro was excellent and the Akami was the best I've ever had with truffle! The chef was so fun to chat with and the owner happened to be here who was so nice!! The server was so friendly and we had the best time! The place is cozy and intimate. We will definitely be back! (Wish I took more photos!)

Yelp
Visited Shoshin 68 for their special Valentine's Day menu and they did not disappoint! We got the $88 14-course menu which came with dessert and complimentary sake. The fish was incredibly fresh and had a melt in your mouth texture. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced omakase establishment for excellent quality in the SoHo area.

Brooke D.

Yelp
Fantastic. Great sushi and amazing price point. Would definitely recommend before people find out how good it is and you can't get in!!

Yelp
We went for my husband's birthday and had the best time. Chef Ye is amazing. His food is delicious and super innovative. We had some of the most interesting combos. Jason, who was our waiter, was kind, attentive, and personable. They surprised my husband with a surprise mochi with a candle. They even offered to sing. It's was birthday to remember. We will be back and recommend it to everyone we know. Don't sleep on this new hidden gem. I have a feeling it's the next big thing!!!

Brit B.

Yelp
The Shoshin68 dining experience was unexpected and amazing. This newly opened spot in SoHo is a must! Special thanks to Chef Ye for an amazing dinner experience. They are making some upgrades in the coming months to make it even more intimate. We love the cozy bar seating and great conversation. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great little omakase counter that doesn't break the bank! The unagi with foie gras was my absolute favorite! I even asked for 2nds! Chef Gary, thanks for the wonderful conversations! We even stuck around after all the guests had left and continued to chat and drank sake! We will be back!
