Gold-Covered Steaks From a Salt Bae Protégé Have Landed in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Opened next to Johnny Sanchez to serve downtown’s grab-and-go crowd, this all-day breakfast cafe from Aaron Sanchez offers biscuit- and brioche-based breakfast sandwiches, fried chicken sandwiches, burgers, waffle fries, soft serve ice cream, and French Truck coffee, aiming to fill a quick breakfast and lunch void for office workers, residents, and hotel guests with online ordering encouraged." - Clair Lorell

Google
ShowBird was just okay overall. The biscuits with jam were definitely the highlight—really tasty. The chicken was decent but nothing special, and the fries were just average. It felt a bit pricey—paid about $26 for chicken crisp, fries, a soda, and a biscuit (not a combo). Worth trying once, but not sure I’d rush back.

Google
Over all experience was just "ok". Ordering and picking up went well enough but nothing spectacular. The presentation was very nice in the tray and I was very excited to eat. Unfortunately the majority of my chicken sandwich was very tough and difficult to chew. The only thing that kept me eating was that it did have great flavors. The Fries were very good. All in all I would not be in a hurry to return.

Google
Very delicious. Lots of flavor. I got cheese grits and chicken cracklings also a crack wrap on the side. The cheese grits the best I’ve had in a long time. I did ask for a side of their creole seasoning to make it more spicy. Just my preference. The chicken cracklings was amazing.

As we walked in there were plenty of seating available, and not to busy. Upon ordering we did have to wait 7-10mins. Service was great, even though my wings were over cooked. They replace them with fresh ones. Food was ok, and they've got phenomenal honey mustard. The sandwich was good as well.

We were in town for the Zulu parade on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. We arrived early at 5a. When the snacks ran out and the crowd got thick Snowbirds was close by. It was a long line and maybe short staffed. They were trying hard to keep up. I let the line die down some before entering and ordering. I got the loaded waffle fries and added chicken to it. Would have been nice if they had just a seasoned chicken breast instead of fried. The waffle fries were overcooked, the cheese sauce was too thick and everything was so salty I only ate about 3 bites. Paying $17 for salt sticks is crazy.

Google
Just had this delivered. Never heard of the place, but this chicken sandy is fire! LOVE IT! Or whatever the kids say these days. Ok byyyyyyyeee!

Google
I went there to eat yesterday. I got the classic Showbird. It was really good! Everything tasted amazing together. I also had the waffle fries, which were delicious. The seasoning on the fries is the key. Overall, the food I ate was all exceptional and I would go back again.

Google
Stopped by before a theatre show. The staff was okay and the food was very mid, not the greatest. The chicken sandwich was extremely dry and there was hardly any sauce. The waffle fries were great but the cheese sauce had a funky flavor.

Yelp
Eh, it was good. Not great. A little high priced for the thin chicken. It was seasoned good, the waffle fries were fine too. Not anything to write home about but a good fast food replacement. We will explore more lunch spots tomorrow!

Yelp
Local here. I've been here numerous of times. service is always hit or miss. The workers present today around lunch time did not want to be there. I entered with no recognition or greeting. Stood at the pickup area to pick up my online order like an unwelcome house guest. The woman packaging the orders just tossed my bag onto the pick up counter with the name showing because she clearly wasn't going to service anyone. The entire interaction or lack of was in complete silence. That was my final straw. The food is not that good to tolerate the service. Attached is a photo of my grit bowl with bacon, sub scrambled eggs. I understand there's gonna be oil but I was not expecting an entire layer on top. I went through a handful of napkins to keep myself clean from each greasy bite. I used to get the wrap until they changed the price. The lattes are watered down and flavorless, definite pass. The wings do have good flavor, the price is just outrageous for the quantity. Just like the service the food isn't consistent. Cold ambiance inside, usually empty because most locals know it's not worth the money. I usually bring my friends here since I live so close by but not anymore. TLDR; bad/rude service, inconsistent food and overpriced for the lack of quality

Yelp
Been meaning to stop by and finally got the chance. I had the chicken sandwich, burger, and fries, a pretty fair meal overall, middle of the pack for me. I also grabbed a cookie. The staff was friendly, and I even got a chance to chat with the cook, very hospitable vibe all around. Solid spot worth checking out.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a chance to visit this place. I think the place was good if you like sandwiches that are on the greasy side. They were flavorful, and the sandwiches were a decent size. Place was clean and location was close to a lot of the hotels downtown. Not sure i would visit this all the time but it hit the spot.

Yelp
My first visit to NOLA. I liked the grits with bacon. Smooth and creamy and cheesy. Could have had breakfast here every day.
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Great fried chicken sandwich and delicious sauce! The fried chicken was perfectly sized for the sandwich. Not too big and each bite had everything you wanted on it. The fries were also delicious and I tried my friends cheese sauce for the loaded fries and it tastes like yummy queso from Johnny Sanchez! Definitely will go back! Quick and easy to order.

Bianca Q.

Yelp
Ordered via grubhub, and delivery was fast and easy! Got the cheeseburger single (no jalapenos) and loaded fries. The portion for the fries was HUGE! Definitely didn't skimp on the toppings. The sauce on the burger wasn't my favorite, but nothing my extra queso couldn't fix.

Yelp
This is what $7.25 looks like at Showbird. Look, times are tough. Everyone wants their dollar to go a bit further...but this, this is just not right.
google avatar

Charis S.

Yelp
Their chicken biscuit might be the BEST chicken biscuit I've ever had. The biscuit was soft, buttery, moist, flaky. The chicken was tender and full of flavor. Oh and the bacon jam really did it for me. That sweet & salty was the best. Also, I loved the crispy, crunchy, seasoned perfectly, hash browns!
google avatar

Tom L.

Yelp
Great location next to the Superdome, anytime a home game is on, this place will be super super super busy, yes I know because I ordered a breakfast sandwich with hash browns, I waited over 1 hr from order to finish. What's sad is I was with a group of 10, everyone got and ate their order but mine was pushed to the side. Seems Uber eats and DoorDash are high priority than walk in clients, maybe if a home game is on, suspend those orders and solely focus on walk in clients, the experience will be better, the staff can handle the flow, I just saw too much orders and not enough staff. To wait 1 hr to have a brioche bun with a sunny side up egg, very very nice crispy bacon, it just wasn't worth it. I will say the hash browns are the best I've ever had from a quick in n out restaurant, it was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Bits and pieces of seasoning mixed into the hash brown, I didn't take a picture because before I realized it, I ate them all since I was soo hungry.

Yelp
In New Orleans for a conference with 20,000 people. Needed food quick with a group of 16 and Showbird exceeded our expectations. There was a line going out the door and yet food was ready in 10 minutes. Food was delicious and service was better. Specifically Piper. He was running circles around everyone, extremely efficient, and never made people feel like an inconvenience. He was happy to talk to everyone that walked through that door. I have never written a review. But downloaded Yelp just to shout out Piper. Super impressed!!! Thank you.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Iced coffees were pretty bad. The waffle fries were very delicious, the breakfast sandwich was pretty good but I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The bacon was really good. The iced coffees tasted so burnt and bitter. Wasn't a fan. 2 large iced coffees, 1 breakfast sandwich, and waffle fries was almost $30.
google avatar

Yelp
The shop was really clean. Tables were clean. The prices are really good. My son ordered the grits with chicken. It was so yummy. I ordered the early bird and enjoyed my sandwich.
google avatar

Mahmut E.

Yelp
Had chicken sandwich and it was very good. Service was self serve but people were friendly. Price is little high for the location but at least food was very good.

Yelp
Showbird My wife and I went here for a breakfast / brunch this weekend. We really enjoyed it. We both got the Banty Rooster which was a chicken biscuit with bacon jam and "birdy" sauce. We both enjoyed it, but thought the bacon jam was a bit overpowering. But every bite with the birdy sauce was awesome - that sauce made the sandwich in my opinion. Parking... this is near my job, so we didn't have to pay for parking. But if you didn't have a place to park then you'd have to pay for parking. Reservations.... N/A - just walk in. Would be perfect if you wanted something casual before an event at the superdome / smoothie king center.

Yelp
I ordered the 3-pc tender meal with waffle fries. My meal actually came with four tenders. Perhaps because they were on the smaller side, but I'm only speculating. You have your choice of various dipping sauces, including bbq, honey mustard, ranch, and house. House is a play on Chick-fil-a sauce, and it was pretty good. The cost was $9, about what I'd pay at Chick-fil-a. The chicken was seasoned and had a good flavor. The fries were reminiscent of Rally's with the seasoned coating, but in waffle form. They were ok. I think they were overcooked because they were on the harder side. The food came out quickly, so that was pleasing. Service was also fine. The restaurant feels airy with all the natural light beaming in and high ceilings. I'll be back to try some breakfast.

Yelp
Food was really tasty!! We ordered the loaded waffle fries, burger and grits!! Ordered from DoorDash! Everything was present and accounted for and arrived quickly.
google avatar

Whitney A.

Yelp
Sooo it's giving overpriced Chic Fil A but it was good food. I went in to order pickup and they did get my order wrong. The fries were pretty good but they were fried harder than most places which was okay for me because they were thick waffle fries. Chicken sandwich was also fried a little hard but it was ok as well. I wish I had a little sauce on the side for dipping. The lemonade was really good but was pricey for the size. The place is small but was clean.

Reiona A.

Yelp
I've been here quite a few times. My first time visiting was during Mardi Gras 2024. It was great that they were opened late because most of the surrounding restaurants were closed. Atmosphere: Nice and funky! Food: Seasoned and hot. The hash browns can be a bit salty. Overall, the chicken is the bomb.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Crispy, juicy perfection! Best chicken sandwich in NOLA--bold flavors, fresh buns, total knockout!

Maddie Y.

Yelp
The food was pretty good ! Honestly no complaints on that ! It tasted good. But the employees were unhappy and it was obvious. When we walked in we were not greeted or anything just looked at like we were crazy . For me how I get treated by a business tells me right there if I will be a long term customer or not . And I just know I'll never step foot in here again because I pay to sit here and I expect welcoming energy.
google avatar

Tasha N.

Yelp
We had the grit bowl. One reg sausage and one chicken sausage. It came with chives and an egg on top. The grits was a little sweeter than we are used to but still very good and definitely more than I could finish eating which is not a bad problem to have. We'll definitely be back to try out their other dishes before we leave the area
google avatar

Rena A.

Yelp
Cool, airy vibe. Great lighting, friendly atmosphere. Quick, speedy service. Hashbrowns were so tasty, my slim bird sandwich, delightful.
google avatar

Debbie T.

Yelp
This was a truly horrific experience. My husband had ordered a showbird chicken sandwich and it was huge like in the picture. This is what we got today. A tiny flat piece of chicken that looked half dark and half white. Absolutely horrible. I actually cut off half the bun because there was not enough chicken. I want to know what happened between the first picture ( not my hubbies) and what we got today?
google avatar

Arielle R.

Yelp
Ordered to-go and the cashier was super friendly. The sandwiches were delicious -- chicken was so juicy even though it's white meat.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
Not all that impressed by the burger (size) and the cost. Fries or sides were additional. Could've bought a half pound burger with fries for less at other local places. Tried something new and..
google avatar

The Foodie X.

Yelp
I've been to Showbird a few times now. Everything I've had so far has been delicious. The staff is super friendly and I never have waitied long for my food, even at the busiest of times. The hasbrowns should be called smash-browns... they are cooked to a crispy golden prefection. Soft and tender in the center with what seems like garlicy ranchy seasoning... I'm not sure, but they are DELISH!! I get them every time I go now. The watermelon lemonade is a must try too. Sweet and the watermelon flavor is prominate...not lemony at all (which I loved.) Lastly, be forwarned, the chicken is thigh dark meat.

Yelp
As a local I had such high hopes. When I entered I was the only customer and the floor was sticky. That was my first red flag. I ordered the Early Bird and the Coop Scramble. Our sandwiches were mostly bread, a flat bit of egg squashed in the middle, cheese and bacon somewhere within the flat sandwich. What's most important, nothing had any sense of flavor. This felt like cafeteria or hospital food. The bun was soft but lifeless, and because the portions weren't generous it just felt like I was eating a bun anyway.. If you are visiting New Orleans, you want to experience the punch of flavor that everything here has. This is a definite NO if you are a visitor. If you are a local you'll likely come here once and then know that just about everywhere else has better options. My recommendation is to visit nearby Luzianne Cafe - the menu is a little more local and they are very quick. You are here in New Orleans to have good food and Showbird doesn't make the cut.

Yelp
Yummy fried fast food. Loved the hash browns. Service was remarkable. Would go back in a heart beat. Wish there was a bit spicer options. Or maybe some hot sauce. But still loved it.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
first time. had the coop scramble. amazing!! friend got the banty rooster and the fried chicken was also "10/10". would recommend and excited to come back

Meedy 0.

Yelp
The server Sharon H was soo rude and had an attitude!! This was my first time coming here after hearing about it and she completely ruined the experience for me!

Lourdes R.

Yelp
My first time here and I had a wonderful experience, the food was good! Hot and fresh. I ordered the slim chickins my husband had the Banty rooster and both were amazing! I also had the blackberry lemonade and that did not disappoint! You must try it!!

Yelp
The food, the music and the service is outstanding at this place, Show Bird NOLA. Wish I had taken a picture of my breakfast sandwich but looked too good to waste time on a picture. Trust me, this needs to be on your bucket list.

Yelp
I tried Showbird for the first time a few weeks ago, opting to order several items for delivery via UberEats. I had a Double "Showburger" Cheeseburger, Loaded Waffle Fries, Grilled Chicken "Crack Wrap", and "The Grit Bowl" (cheesy grits with bacon)! Had the food arrived more quickly, I would have given 4 stars. I understand this isn't Showbird's fault, but the quality definitely suffered. My delivery person was on a bicycle, and took a crazy long zig-zag to reach my address. (I used to deliver on my bicycle, so I get it! But would never take a longer route, when there is a bike-able, direct and safe route available to me) Even after being heated up again, the patty's on the burger were a little thin, and the amount of queso on the loaded fries was on the sparse side. With that being said, the seasoning on the fries were very tasty! The burger and wraps were also tasty, but the wraps were a bit small for the price. The grits were probably the best part, nice big portion and big cuts of bacon! Excellent amount of cheese. Their house made sauces were great, and I would order from them again, but only in-person. I'll be trying their chicken next time! 3-stars for Price and Portions, but would definitely try them again.

Michael R.

Yelp
Went to this place for a quick dinner with the kids that was close to our hotel. The food was good and the service was even better. The woman who helped us was very nice and made sure we were well taken care of. Solid experience overall!

Quentin C.

Yelp
I have eaten at Showbird a few times since moving to NOLA and I have been nothing short of impressed. The staff is professional yet friendly, and the food is delicious and fast yet much higher quality than fast food. Pro-tip - they have some of the best chicken cracklin that I've ever had. If you live in NOLA or just visiting I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Showbird.
google avatar

Kelley T.

Yelp
Aaron Sanchez has done it again. Everyone, get the Banty Rooster chicken biscuit with the bacon jam! You will not be disappointed! We also enjoyed having the French Truck coffee.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised at the affordability/quality ratio of this establishment. The tenders and the hot bird were both extremely delicious. I will be visiting this spot frequently.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
People were very nice and accommodating. Place was in a nice location. Food was just average. We had chicken sandwiches. The breakfast looked good. I would go back and try that sometime. Not a place I would good out of my way for but also would be satisfied eating there again. The fries were great. Definitely the highlight.
google avatar

Caressa M.

Yelp
Couldn't wait to try this place. Ordered the Spicy Showbird and the Hot Bird sandwich. Both looked great, food was hot and loved the way it was wrapped. The bun was fluffy and warm. The chicken filet was crispy and looked as if it was well seasoned. However, it was not flavorful. Seriously. It tasted like plain chicken. I could tell it was marinated because it was juicy and tender, but lacking flavor. I wish I was exaggerating. If you are a diabetic, suffering with high blood pressure or dealing with serious health issues that call for you to have a bland lack luster diet, these are the the chicken sandwich's for you. I figure they're just working to perfect the recipe or at least I hope. Also, way too much coleslaw. I felt like I was eating just mayonnaise and bread with every bite. Positives: Friendly Staff, Food Presentation, Hot Food, Crisp Chicken Negatives: No flavor or spice.
google avatar

Norm G.

Yelp
If you are looking for a REAL cracked egg breakfast sandwich this is your spot. Just line up at the counter and "Give 'em the Bird", LOL You'll get that once you check out the decor. Food is hot off the grill ready to go or dine in.

J S.

Yelp
I've given this place a few begrudged tries now after living conveniently close. After the grand opening a few menu items were quickly removed. I've still visited for coffee (since they brew French Truck) but the service seems to struggle with even the smallest orders with few people in the restaurant. Waiting 20-25 for black drip coffee only at a breakfast place no apology is pretty lousy. To be fair, have had a mix of friendly and unfriendly service here depending on who is staffing and how much they're struggling. Fortunately, this place seems on a trajectory of eventual closure like (unfortunately) the Jamba Juice before it so just have to wait things out for the next restaurant to move in here. A star each for the good waffle fries and French Truck coffee effort though.

Anna K.

Yelp
Absolutely awful. There is a reason this place is always empty. I had a chicken wrap that was tiny and a drink for $11. Then I had to throw it away because it was so spicy it was not edible.

Susan C.

Yelp
"How good could a breakfast sandwich really be"?....you might ask yourself. Well I found the perfect breakfast sandwich a few days ago and damn it was delish. A freshly ground sausage patty (huge) and a perfectly executed over- easy egg on the softest bun with a delicious sauce....these guys know what they're doing! When you wake up the next morning thinking about a sandwich, you know it had to be good!! So glad to have found Showbird...
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Ive been here twice. Ive tried two different chicken sandwiches and both are just ok but nothing amazing. Their waffle fries are really good, nice and flavorful. The star should be the chicken but it's not.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick bite. Delicious hot/spicy chicken sandwich. The waffle fries were good too. The meal was filling. Well worth it!

Natalia C.

Yelp
Great newish place in NOLA right near the Ceasar's Superdome. Everything is made fresh to order. Not a huge menu but a good variety of choices-hamburgers, wrap, tenders, chicken sandwiches, salad, breakfast sandwiches. Place is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be eating here again, especially right before a Saints game-delicious!

Myron C.

Yelp
Needed to find a close place for a quick bite for dinner by our hotel room. The place was empty. There were three people working. One employee looked at me, said nothing and went it to the bad. Another employee looked at me and said nothing also. It felt like 10 long minutes afterwards that someone acknowledged me. Food was okay, nothing to write home about.

Hanna B.

Yelp
The bird stuck their dick in this shit or something because it's so fucking good. I got the breakfast sandwich with chicken sausage, cheese grits and hash browns and I didn't know breakfast could be like this. I also got a latte with oat milk and if you wanted to know they got the good oat milk that doesn't coat your mouth and like damn the coffee itself is bussin. 10/10 will be ordering again.
