A Comprehensive Guide to Classic Restaurants and Bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"My parents and I used to eat at the Showboat buffet on Boulder Highway after shopping at Gemco — both those places are now gone and their lots are just dust, but the memories of that routine stick with me." - Eater Staff

My family went to Showboat for the Columbus Day weekend. Overall the property is dark and is in need of some serious renovations. The check in process was ok, but you have to pay for parking on a phone app rather than being able to pay at hotel desk. The room was very dated. The water in the bathroom wasn’t hot. Also the hotel advertised that rooms are cleaned daily however no one came to clean our room. We tried to contact front desk and couldn’t get anyone. While we were there someone was running around our floor in the middle of the night drunk. The next morning we found the guy sleeping at the elevator. Security wasn’t monitoring the floor. While this is a supposed to be a family friendly venue. I would suggest to parents like myself to monitor your kids and don’t let them roam especially at night on their own. The water park was literally the best part of our trip. But I would suggest sleeping at another property.

We booked the double queen suite and also took our dog. Such a big beautiful space. No complaints at all! I love how the floor is tile in case your pet friends have an accident. It was a lot of walking but everyone was friendly and the rooms were thoroughly clean.

I brought my four children and two foster children for the long Columbus Day weekend. I had heard some pretty bad things but I couldn't beat the price and decided to give it a shot. We had an amazing experience. The girls that worked at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spotless and no bugs in sight. They did have to close the water park for one day due to the weather but they had no problem giving me a refund and compensating us with some game cards. As for games being broken, any game I came across that didn't work correctly. I let someone know and they immediately fixed it. And also reimbursed us for any issues with any games. Every staff member we came in contact with were friendly and provided us with a great experience. Overall, my children and I had a great time and can't wait to go back.

Honestly, when I booked this i didn't realize the Showboat was no longer a casino - stopped going to AC years ago. But, we had tickets for a concert at the nearby Oceans Casino and the price was right. The room was clean and comfy, the location is great. Parking costs $25 extra - I personally think that should be included with your room. All of AC smells of weed, including the hotel. But, for the price and location, I would stay here again if I came dirtiest another concert.

We were supposedly in a renovated room. No carpet on the floor so you could hear every noise from other rooms. Cabinets were dirty, walls dirty remote was filthy. Beds were uncomfortable. There is no restaurant in the hotel. If you want just a hotel without a casino, I suggest you stay at the Clairidge hotel. I won't stay there again. However if you have kids they will love the arcade which a complete floor.

We stayed there October 4 2025. We had a great view I loved the room except for the bed it was way too low, especially for a hotel. We visited the water park I think the price should be included with the room but whatever. The water park was ok I was expecting more but it’s nice especially for the kids. We also visited the arcade which was nice again especially for the kids. Leaving on Oct 5, was a nightmare the elevators broke down and we had to take the dirty stairs down from the 11th floor. Security had us stop at some second floor employee lounge to wait for working elevators there.

I only booked because they are pet friendly, that was the only reason. This hotel is definitely dated. I myself, do not enjoy family friendly spaces, my kids are adults. Again pet friendly was the reason for booking here. It is set up as a kids playland. Everything is dated. The restaurant providing the music for boardwalk was lacking diversity in the music it played. So the entertainment was wack. But hey family friendly so u get what you get. The overall vibe just wasn't there. We spent our time visiting and enjoying other venues on the boardwalk. Even with them being pet friendly, I won't book here again. I would pay a petsitter and stay elsewhere. Good spots if u have kids. No so good if you are an adult and like an adult environment/entertainment.

My recent stay at the Showboat Atlantic City was a letdown. First, the cleanliness was a major issue. The hallway on our floor was visibly dirty, and there was a constant, strong smell of marijuana. The room itself had a few maintenance problems, including only one working sink. The air conditioning was also a big disappointment; it was set to a cool temperature but never dropped below 70 degrees. We also had trouble with basic amenities. There was no coffee pot or hairdryer in the room. When we asked housekeeping about a hairdryer, they told us to call the front desk. I called the front desk at least ten times from the room phone and my cell phone, but no one ever answered. Finally, the security was questionable. The key card was supposed to be required to access our floor from the elevator, but this feature didn't work at all, which felt like a significant safety lapse. Overall, it was convenient place for us to stay for the night after a concert, but definitely would not stay here again.
