The 38 Best Pittsburgh Restaurants | Eater DC

"Drew Allen has perfumed Homewood with the aroma of hardwood smoke and slow-cooked meat for over 20 years. His Showcase BBQ is a draw for its smoked ribs, which have a tender tug as you pull the just-charred meat from the bone. His melting turkey ribs (technically part of the shoulder) are a reminder that enjoying the great bird ought not to be limited to Thanksgiving. Top those, or the crisp chicken wings, with a spoon of Showcase’s piquant barbeque sauce to add a little oomph to your day. The sides here are as much of a draw as the meats — yams, green beans, mac and cheese, and potato salad are a few of the standouts." - Melissa McCart

Google
I asked Google for the highest rated place near my location, and it spit out Showcase BBQ. The ribs were great. They fell off the bone and the sauce wasn't spicy. Google said dine-in seating. This turned out to be two high-top tables. We chose to eat outside at a picnic table. This came complete with spotted lantern flies and little bugs we called no-seeums growing up. The ribs were great. A half rack came with six rib bones, large and meaty. If I had to do it again, I would have ordered three, because that is when I got full. I had hoped to order red beans and rice, but we were there near the end of the day and they were sold out. I got the Mac and cheese instead. It was ok, but had way more cheddar cheese then I like - of you like cheddar cheese it would have been wonderful. I also got the baked beans with meat which were quite good, but deceptively spicy - you are one forkful and it didn't seem spicy at all. Eat several in a row, and by the fourth it caught up to you. Price was quite reasonable - half rack was $17. I've paid more for less.

Google
To be honest you wouldn't know it without walking in, but this is THE BEST BBQ EVER. The service was fantastic and everyone working was so polite. The food though, to die for. Best potato salad ever. The BBQ sauce was delicious. Pulled pork, tender and juicy. I would absolutely recommend this place and have already told all of my close friends to go try it out.

Google
Showcase BBQ is awesome! We recently moved nearby and stopped for dinner last night after driving past the grills & smokers several times. There is no inside seating, mostly takeout/outdoor seating. It’s very hot inside as they only have fans, but the staff were super friendly and very efficient—we were out the door with our food (after waiting in line!) within 20 minutes. It was clear how well they knew their regulars, and I’m in awe that they were able to be so upbeat & kind even with how hot and humid it was! We ordered the Chicken & Ribs dinner that comes with 4 ribs and 6 wings, but ended up receiving 5 ribs and 9 wings (to our delight!). Will definitely be coming back for the mac & cheese and potato salad as well. I would recommend coming in person to order rather than calling/ordering online, it’s very quick anyways!

Google
Come on now showcase. I ordered my food through a 3rd party app, never again. If i was there to get my own food, yall would’ve never put this in my container. This is horrible. I’m extremely upset and disappointed!

Google
Go early. We got there around 7pm and they were out of 2 of the sides we wanted. They plan so they have no leftovers. The ribs were perfect! There are only 2 high tables inside and several patio tables outside. This is a small business location but the food was really good. And you get a lot for your money.

Google
No way I would have even had time to take photos for a review. This BBQ is so good! Hands down best in the burgh. I grew up throughout the south and good and affordable BBQ was on every corner. It’s so hard to find in PGH and the ones that exist are usually bigger chains that are way too overpriced. This is local, 1000x better, and actually affordable! Definitely will be back!

Google
The vibe: friendly but busy. The meat: very good flavor. Tender but not falling apart. Nice smokiness. The sides: good but not amazing. I was happy with what I had, but I don't think I'd come here for JUST the sides. (Edit: I had greens and Mac & cheese. Apparently, per a nice woman I talked to outside, green beans and yams is the way to go.) The sauce: not my thing, but I was in the minority. To me, it tastes like a mix of tomato BBQ sauce and honey mustard. Very sweet and very thick. I think the meat's too good to cover like that. But everyone in front of me was loading up with extra sauce. Will I come back? Absolutely! But I'll skip the sauce next time.

Google
Very good food. I have been here 4 times, each time I try a new side. So far my favs are: Mac & Cheese, and baked beans. I highly recommend the pork ribs with sauce. Very filling and delicious. The ribs are moist and filling. You definitely get your money worth!

Yelp
Amazing bbq fast service only flaw is no where to eat inside really but you're sure to enjoy all the food

Yelp
My family typically gets a large of pan of ribs from Showcase for family gatherings. Today, my partner and I went to the restaurant and ordered single meals. Eating it super fresh was even better! The barbecue sauce is a bit tangy for me, but the meat is gold. While there was a long line that stretched around the block, it moved relatively quickly. The service was quick and efficient. I'd recommend the pork ribs and Mac n cheese. If you want beef ribs, you have to call 2 hours in advance. There are outdoor tables and chairs for you to eat at, but currently no indoor dining. The ribs were smoked to perfection, charred in all the right places. The Mac n cheese was very cheesy, perhaps not all the way done with blocks of cheese but still good. And the yams weren't my favorite but still good. Without a doubt, I'll be back for the ribs.

Marcus H.

Yelp
Ordered the Chicken and Rib combo with two small sides. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the ribs were okay. Not tender no smoke ring. Red beans and rice are a must but the Mac n cheese was basic. I ordered a brisket sandwich with no bread brisket taste like dry roast beef do not waist your money.

Yelp
5 stars for the food. Truly "the best" barbeque in Pittsburgh. Great local business and a success story. Sauce is amazing. Sides are killer. Owners are very nice. Customers recommended it so highly I had to try. Yes, I stand out in the crowd with my pale skin - so you know this is authentic soul food. Never had a problem with anybody. Neighborhood favorite, but so much more! Right on the edge of Frankstown and Washington Blvd - do stop through. If you are in the city, and from outside of Homewood, and not one to travel to this part of town, you should take a moment some afternoon to stop through this place and learn from the experience. You can preorder online to skip the line, which is usually out the door even during non-peak times like 2pm on a random Friday afternoon. Turkey ribs: wow. I have never had something like this before. A little expensive at $5 but really quite tasty. Sides: every single one is stand-out great. I've had 'em all. I'm sure people love the mac-n-cheese but I like everything from the cabbage to the cornbread to the greens to the rice and beans. Mmmmhmm. I do have some comments about the online menu. The prices do not match the boards inside nor the prices on the official website. Either fix the boards with some tape and sharpie, & your official website, or fix the online menu. Hell for a rack of ribs now and then I'd fix your website. I should not pay a tax to order online in advance. Also, most importantly, I could not find the $54 "12 wings and 12 bones" offer on the website. Yelpers, keep in mind I do not know if others are paying board prices or online prices. I can only guess but I realized the prices were different and fought back a feeling of disappointment. Hopefully this will be fixed, as the online ordering was only ready in January. Example price discrepancies: Whole rack (board price): $28 (sometimes during specials $22) (sides sold separately) Online price: $46.58 which is "4 small sides + ribs" -- thus the pricing, but according to the board its $34.00 for the same thing ("Rib dinner, 12 bones + 4 sm sides") 100 Wings (on website): $166.55 ; on board: $125 Beef rib (call 3 hours in advance): on board: $25, on website: $33.25

Yelp
First time visit after seeing a KDKA news story...what a great experience! The rib's with their sauce is wonderful and full of flavor. I definitely recommend this authentic experience. Unfortunately take out only, but they do have four tables outside when the weather is nice, or in the shade today during this heat wave. I will definitely be back to try more of the sides, as today I only experienced the 1/2 rib with greens and mac & cheese. The food here is a five star experience!

Yelp
Fantastic ribs, smoked wings, and turkey ribs. Had a variety of meats and sides... everything was a hit! You will not be disappointed.

Curt B.

Yelp
Excellent food ............ Great service........... Homewood for the win Best Turkey ribs in the City

D G.

Yelp
This is a supplement t to the beef ribs review.. I took the meat off the bone to freeze it into portions, and it weighed almost 2 pounds, which is a lot of Meat. Worth the $24, but make sure you order it 3 hours in advance.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Best wings in Pittsburgh!! Possibly best in PA!! Smoky, flavorful, meaty, cooked to perfection, delicious l!! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
This place is a joke. The customer service is horrible. When you want to support your own people, but they can't multitask enough to take an order over the phone and handle customers? How unprofessional can you be..... oh wait, you showed me when you left me on hold and tired up the line with your speaker not muted. So I heard everything that went on for about a good 15 minutes. Long enough for someone to offer assistance. The only help I got was from a guy whom I'm assuming is a cook, but the females who work the front, they need to be replaced. Food ain't worth the attitude or shitty service.

Emily M.

Yelp
Generous portions and delicious flavor! Ordered online and picked up in the store. Food was timely and ready upon arrival! Local delicacy. Outdoor seating!

Albert B.

Yelp
Food is amazing and sells out fast. It's best to call ahead and order. Environment is nice and calm even though it's busy.

Yelp
Devoured before I could get a picture. Super quick service and such good barbecue. Their baked beans are the GOAT

Yelp
This place is slinging awesome BBQ items. I got ribs and wings. The ribs were super tender, still had a nice body to them, and were nicely smoky. The wings were likewise very tender and juicy. All around I found great execution at Showcase. And points to them for blaring NWA and Naughty by Nature in their shop. This place is awesome.

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time after dropping my son off to school. I had the ribs, potato salad, and red beans and rice dinner. The food was delicious!! The barbecue sauce was a perfect blend of tangy and sweet. The best barbecue I have had in a while. Will definitely visit again. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
google avatar

Richard D.

Yelp
The owner here is a BULLY. He bullies every rack of ribs into tenderness. My man is out in the weather all year round to make sure that you get juicy BBQ. Excellent.
google avatar

Neha C.

Yelp
Delicious!!! The ribs and the chicken wings are messy to eat but once you have a bite, it's hard to stop especially when lathered with the special sauces. Both the ribs and the chicken wings have a strong smoky taste. They were well seasoned. The chicken was juicy and tender and the ribs were slightly tough. They gave us two kinds of sauces - one was quite spicy and the other was on the sweeter side, tasted like homemade bbq sauce. The combination of the sauces along the meat was excellent. I recommend one part spicy sauce mixed with two parts sweet, mild sauce. Right as we parked near the restaurant, we saw smoke billowing from the grills adjacent to the restaurant. Once we stepped inside, there was already a queue. We didn't have to wait too long to get our food. Most people took their food to go. There is some seating space but I think it would feel a little uncomfortable to sit and eat there given the small size of the restaurant. Next time when I'm craving bbq, this is the place I will visIt.

Yelp
Yummy food, mad fresh. What's not to love? I had the ribs and wings and they did not disappoint. There's also a decent amount of sides which is nice. The food portions are huge, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. 10 out of 10!

Yelp
This place is amazing. You want legitimately addictive BBQ? You don't have to go to St. Louis or Austin for that!! Their ribs are insanely delicious. I'm talking about... Fall. Off. The. Bone. Ribs. Their dry rub is amongst the best I've ever had, even Rendezvous in Memphis. Folks are friendly, skilled, and ready to get your belly filled. Mac and cheese was probably the best I've ever gotten from any restaurant. Cornbread was ridiculous - made me want to eat it for days. You need this place, and in COVID times, they need you. You know what to do!

Yelp
This place SLAPS!!! Best BBQ I've had in Pgh. Nice outdoor seating, friendly staff, and quality food. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
It's Saturday morning and I'm riding around the area on a bike thanks to Open Streets Pittsburgh. I spot a BBQ place and see the grills outside working. It's 10 AM...I will be back for you! After I did my loop around, I head back and find the place bustling with fellow bikers. I park the Schwinn and get in line (it's out the door now). As I'm waiting the BBQ aroma gets stronger. Hmm...what to get. I stand in line reading the menu, watching and overhearing what others are thinking. As I get closer for them to take my order, I see a fresh pan of mac and cheese come out. It has a generous cheese throughout and a light brown layer on top. Yes, please! I also hear, "This is it for the pulled pork." It's not yet 12 pm and they've been busy serving hungry bikers. I'm up. Because I want to try a bit of everything and couldn't order a kids meal as an adult (not in sound mind), I opted for 2 pork ribs, 3 wings, and two side dinner: mac and cheese and greens. "We're out of greens. How about green beans or broccoli and cheese?" Green beans, please. $10--of goodness. Seats outside were taken by other hungry folks, so I sat at a high top inside neat the open garage door. On this day I people watched as much as the people in line watched me eat. The plate is so big! Portions mare HUGE! The ribs were so big and tasty. Definitely slow cooked bbq, you could taste the smoke. I ate both, but it was an effort to do so. Sadly, I couldn't eat more protein and saved the wings for later. There is still the sides to eat. The mac and cheese was glorious as expected from seeing the new pan come out. The green beans were excellent! I generally am not a fan, but the flavors and hint of spice made it a wonderful side. I'd definitely be back! Here are some tips: - This is a to the point kind of place. Ingredients cost money, they'll let you know by the signs on the wall. Personally, I appreciate this. - Ribs are turkey or pork. State your preference when ordering. - Sides don't have pork in them. - Cornbread is available and is extra. - Don't be on the phone and ordering. It's just rude and they have signs to ask you not to do so.

Yelp
Really good barbecue with a South Carolina style mustard based sauce. I'm not usually a fan of sauces with a mustard taste but this had just the right mixture of tang and spices. I had the 4 ribs with sides of mac 'n cheese and baked beans plus a piece of cornbread. The ribs were good but don't expect fall off the bone - you're going to have to work at these and get more than a little messy - but it's worth it. The mac 'n cheese was good but a little bland for my taste and it congealed pretty quickly. The baked beans had a nice vinegar tang. The cornbread was good but nothing popped in it. Outside there are three tables with chairs on the sidewalk. It ain't fancy but it's plenty good and you should give it a try.

Yelp
What's for Lunch? (Saturday: February 20, 2021) BBQ from the best spot in the burgh!!! Today, was the best visit that we've had in a long time!!! When I tell you that everything was spot on.... it was (Al Bundy unbutton you pants) good!!! I overate & I don't feel bad about it!! I had the pork ribs, grilled chicken wings, Mac-n-cheese, baked beans, potato salad & the sauce on the side!!! For those who were waiting for the Turkey ribs to return..... wait no longer!!! They're BACK!!! My husband loves those & had them for the first time in a long time!!! He was very !! Bon appétit!!! Pics... In my haste, I captured what was left mid-way through eating my meal!

Yelp
Must have been an off day or something. The brisket was TOUGH and barely seasoned. The cabbage was extra soft and tasted like the broth instead of the actual cabbage. I came home, used the meat tenderizer, sprinkled some Montreal on it and did a quick oven broil. My friend raved about this place but it fell flat...
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Best bbq and ribs in Pittsburgh hands down. Sauce is amazing, excellent choice of sides, all delicious.

Yelp
You can't ask questions. You have to know exactly what you want or else you will be berated! If you don't mind waiting for three hours for your food, then go ahead and take a chance.

Yelp
Wow! This place is awesome! I haven't had ribs this good since I was in Alabama! This place nails it! I got a half rack meal and could hardly eat it all. The ribs were lean and meaty and smoked to perfection!! I used to frequent a couple lace called Dreamland in Alabama, and this guy is right up there with them! The collard greens were excellent also. The serving size for money was really generous and the sauce is a unique mustard base that you might want in the side if you're a rookie like I was. I was enjoying pedal pgh and it took me right past the front door, so I took a second lap and stopped for lunch! I enjoyed the food, talking to the owner, and just taking it all in. I have hit Yinzburgh a few times and it was good, so was Walter's in Lawrenceville, but this is much better q, and a good value too. I'll be back soon! Check it out!!

Yelp
BBQ doesn't photograph well and that's how it should be. This meal was messy, flavorful and a delight to eat. Usually I can't finish a home style meal. I also feel gross afterwards, regretting all the calories I just consumed. After eating my 2 bone, 3 wing dinner with yams, baked beans and corn bread... I feel compelled to write this review. It was amazing! This may be the best BBQ place I've tried in Pittsburgh. My favorite part was definitely the chicken. The meat was so tender, it fell off the bone practically after I bit into it. There was a delicious smoky taste that danced in harmony with the rub. The sauce that smothered the ribs and chicken was sweet yet not overwhelming. There was a good balance of tanginess which made the meat so easy to eat. The ribs also had a lot of meat to them. The baked beans were tasty and sweet. There were little bits of vegetables (maybe peppers?) and meat within the beans. I have to be honest- they were really good and I ate them so fast I don't remember much else. The yams were good, very sweet, almost syrupy sweet. They were my least favorite part of the meal but was still very good. The corn bread was enjoyable and shockingly moist! It was not very sweet at all and I enjoyed that I was able to still taste corn. Towards the end of my meal, I put my remaining corn bread into the yam syrup and it made a very tasty dessert. I'm already thinking about the next time I should visit!

Yelp
My wife and I were on the hunt for a new BBQ joint following the closing of a local favorite Wilson's BBQ due to fire when I ran across an article about Showcase BBQ. So I hit up Yelp which confirmed this was a place we had to pay a visit and with the help of Google Maps we made the trip. First let me say despite the store being packed I had no problem finding a parking place. The customers were lined to the door and the aroma of everything barbecued was in the air. We ordered a full slab, yams, potato salad and greens all of items were on point when it came to overall taste and texture, the ribs were smoky and the sauce which was a mustard base sauce which was a first for me was excellent although I thought it could have been thinned out a bit. Showcase BBQ has the potential to become a popular mainstay, I haven't seen so many customers lined up for food since visiting Roscoe Chicken and Waffles in Long Beach. Five stars!

Yelp
I freakin' love this place. I lived in Pittsburgh for two years and this was my favorite place to eat. I got it for my birthday meal, and I got it for my graduation dinner. It's the best. Get either their pork or beef ribs with mac & cheese and yams as the sides. You will not ever regret that. Pro-tip: mix their hot and sweet BBQ sauces together for maximum awesomeness Note: if you want beef ribs, order the day before so they can make them for you. I once got lucky that someone hadn't picked theirs up and came away with some day-of, but usually you've got to pre-order.
google avatar

Yvette L.

Yelp
Family favorite for great BBQ. Make sure you arrive early enough because great items sell out! I'm not a huge fan of spicy veggies and it seems that most of their side dishes are too spicy for me. I prefer flavor over spice.
google avatar

Anne B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a treat while in the neighborhood. Ribs and chicken were amazing. Really enjoyed the greens. Mac and cheese was really over salted, seemingly accidentally, because I eat food more salty than anyone I know... The place is so nice and bright, really cheerful, and really easy to keep distance during Covid times! I wanted cornbread, but there seemed to be a miscommunication, now I have an excuse to go back! Yum! It helps that Strong's Cleaners is close by!!
google avatar

Yelp
We had them cater our Healthcare Hero's Decade Club - the food was amazing, the deliveries were very punctual. We are so glad we chose them - the team loved it!

Yelp
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan the Turkey Ribs were Straight jacket crazy good!!! The mac n cheese was good, yams were ok, cabbage (because they were out of greens) was really good. But the turkey ribs...whew! Had to stand in line for 40 mins, but after this meal, I'm good to stand for that and longer! Definitely worth the wait, so uh yeah, the food is great! Now, staff...great! Both ladies were personable, professional, and super efficient as I mentioned the line was out the door long so they were non-stop busy. This is a must do and worth the wait if there is a line and definitely worth a special trip!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Showcase do ur business a huge favor and PLEASE Get rid of the girl in there that wears the head scarf and takes the orders . She is too rude!! Ribs are good but they ain't worth comming back and having to deal with her nasty attitude.
google avatar

Nick A.

Yelp
Love this place. My first time there & had a good experience. Didn't get to try the greens & yams but Mac & cheese & potato salad was good. Next time want to try the turkey ribs. Good food. Highly recommend.

Yelp
As I arrived there was a line out the door!!! But I waited and was happy that I did! You will not be disappointed when it comes to this place. One tip I would share is that you should get there early to get certain sides because sometimes they run out of certain sides. However, they are always more accommodating on the sides they do have. Everything is bomb! Like literally whoever grandma be in the back cooking be sharing all the family secrets because the food is simply amazing. So I went here a few times before and figured I check in and write about this spot because it is worthy to be praised! I ordered a slab of ribs, four bones of turkey ribs, 10 wings, and Mac n cheese. The bbq sauce is out of this world. Just be prepared for a eat and nap situation because it's bound to happen. I tried to order the greens this day but they didn't have any(not sure if they were made that day or just ran out) but it was an amazing time afterwards once I consumed this amazing southern cooking! One thing that's never really mentioned ... this place doesn't have a five star restaurant look but they're food taste amazing and most importantly they're clean. While there I saw the server change gloves frequently and ensure that food was covered so that it maintained temperature. You won't be displeased at this place, just saying I'm looking forward to next time. One con is that they don't take on line or over the phone orders. In today's society we want to do mobile meals nah that's not happening here they're busy but it's totally worth it.

Yelp
Ambiance: Definitely hole-in-a-wall that's a little dark and bare inside. They have tables outside but they're that wire-mesh style so be careful with that BBQ sauce. Food is served cafeteria style, you order and they immediately assemble everything for you. The staff was a little brusk trying to move the line along but they were not mean in any way. Food: We had the pork ribs which had a nice smokey-charred flavor and pulled off the bone easily. The rib silverskin was crispy which I enjoyed and the spice rub was complex enough to not need any sauce. A half-rack was also more than enough for one person. The chopped brisket sandwich was pretty good but ultimately nothing special, neither dry nor super moist, smokey but not particularly beefy. The BBQ sauce had a great balance between tangy, sweet, and a hint of mustard-spiciness but by the end of the meal I found myself wishing they had more options to mix things up. The mac was cheesy and not an congealed mass like most cafeteria-style restaurants. The beans were surprisingly good as well, they were sweet but not sickeningly so. Not the Having moved from Kansas City, I've been looking for good no-frills BBQ and this place definitely fits the bill. It's not fancy and there's not a lot of sauce options but what they do, they do well. Definitely give this place a try.
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
This place is just out of control amazing. HANDS DOWN the best BBQ in Pittsburgh, their BBQ sauce is the most addicting sauce I've ever had. The side options are all packed with flavor, you can't make a wrong choice. It's such an unassuming location but the food is high quality comfort food and the people that work there are always so nice. I want everyone to try this place so they get all the hype they deserve BUT I don't want the secret to get out!

Yelp
I live in Tampa but I am from Pittsburgh. I've probably tasted almost every BBQ place in tampa in my give years of living there and very few are better than the meal I had from showcase Bbq. At first I was skeptical because of some of the internet reviews but I am so glad I decided to stop in. I ordered the rib and chicken dinner and loved every bit of it. One of my gripes with some BBQ places is you can't taste the smoke on the food but you could taste every bit of it on this chicken. Both the ribs and chicken were cooked to perfection and the sauce was just right. Sweet, smoky and not over sauced. Its a small shop in the middle of the hood but you can't tell by the taste of the food. Definitely getting another plate before I go back to Tampa.
google avatar

Toni J.

Yelp
Yeah, this place is the shit. I have never had turkey wings before--never even heard of them, but I went half turkey half pork ribs and it was better than ice cream on a hot summer day. The turkey ribs were like if you took turkey meat and actually had moist cuts of it--smokey turkey flavor plus that moisture from it being rib meat (I had too many dry turkeys in my day). I ate them and passed out on the couch watching some pro wrestling from the 90s--dudes with neon trunks and mullets fake beating each other up while I digested those ribs. I overate to the point of self-loathing. But it was worth it. YOLO.

Yelp
This food was amazing. When I'm at work we drive past this place constantly and smell the amazing food cooking out in the smoker. Had a break and decided to stop today. The people here are all so nice and try to make you feel like you're eating a good homestyle meal. The inside is definitely and order and go type of place. Not a sit down restaurant. BUT DONT LET THAT TURN YOU OFF. Their food was, like I said, amazing. The flavor lives up to the smell I went with a coworker and we got the chicken, cheese broccoli, Mac and cheese, brisket, and corn bread. For $20 for two whole meals (with basically 1 meal left over) this place is a gem. The brisket was full of flavor. The cornbread was the right balance of sweet and moist. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy. The cheesy broccoli reminded me of cheesy broccoli soup but it was delicious. The chicken wings were small, as to be expected, but the meat was fall of the bone. Both of us got our sauce on the side, the bbq had a sweet and spicy taste - I thought it was a great balance. I would recommend stopping by to pick up some food, because with these options I wasn't disappointed. In the time we sat there eating lunch, we saw about 10 people go in and out of the door with their to-go boxes and sometimes 2 boxes.

Yelp
The pork ribs were tender and juicy and had the BBQ smoky flavor. Really enjoyed the sauce, different then most others I have had. I think just a hint of mustard but a variety of flavors. The Mac & Cheese is OK. Had the Baked Beans and they are terrific, Spicy, With Peppers. Paid $1.00 for a piece of cornbread that was moist & pretty good. Staff was friendly and helpful when asking about the sides. We sat outside at a table. Luckily it was one of the last warm days of the year.

Yelp
I highly recommend showcase BBQ! I got there just 2 minutes before closing and they accommodated me, even though they were about to close up! I got pulled pork with bbq sauce, mac n' cheese, potato salad and cornbread. It was all delicious- especially the cornbread! The two women who were working there were very kind and professional and the shop was located on a nice sunny corner. It had very nice energy. I will be sure to go back!

Yelp
I want to like these guys, I do. When they're good, they're AMAZING. The quality is unfortunately inconsistent, so sometimes you just end up with lots of dried meat. I'd still give them four stars for this though. Thing thing that deducts them another star is that they WILL. NOT. GIVE. YOU. THE. HOT. SAUCE. Which is also the only sauce that I want. I don't know why they won't. It was kind of cute the first time, but it gets old fast and then there's the issue of friends picking up orders that don't know any better, it is seriously obnoxious. They need to have a card or a spicy passport or anything that proves you are allowed to have the ever-loving sauce without engaging in a negotiation involving my first born. I only like my food spicy. I like my cocktails spicy. I would put hot pepper on my ice cream if I could figure out the right flavor combo. I have an entire floor to ceiling cabinet in my house dedicated to hot sauces because every food requires a different one. My favorite food is probably a roasted hot pepper. I am not from Pittsburgh, I can't tell the difference in this city between medium and mild (or spicy most of the time) because it is all bland. YES, I KNOW WHAT I WANT AND IT IS THE CRAZY HOT SAUCE WITHOUT ARGUING AND WITHOUT IT BEING SNUCK OUT OF MY ORDER. Really. My order is worthless to me without it.

Yelp
tl;dr The ribs themselves are very good. The red beans and rice are ok. The sauce, chicken, and collards are not good. The meat on the ribs has a really nice smoky flavor that's enhanced by the rubs. I shouldn't have had them pour the sauce over, which is their usual practice, though; even though it seemed to have a nice amount of vinegar/mustard at first, it's quite sweet and becomes unpleasantly so over time, to the point that I was dreading the sauce while looking forward to the meat. Chicken is weirdly dry and chewy. I might go again and strictly order dry ribs with sauce on the side, but I don't feel a profound need to.

Yelp
Three of us shared a half order of pork ribs and a half order of turkey ribs (which were super special). It was the perfect portion. The sauce is like a sweet , and spice honey mustard brown sauce, not the usual tomato based bbq sauce. The meat was tender, Smokey, and not fatty at all. The place has a nice community feel to it. It's mostly a take out spot but with pleasant umbrella covered tables on front. Definitely a local treat.

Yelp
I work so close to this location but never knew that it even existed until some coworkers wanted to go there. I'm a big fan of pulled pork so I went with that and was I happy with that decision! For $7 I got a sandwich that was enough for two people. At first glance their sauce is odd to look at since it's not your traditional red bbq sauce that you would expect to see. It's a brown sauce! I got it on the side since I wasn't sure how it would tase. Next time I'll be sure to have them put it on it because it tasted so good!
