During a long lay over I had yummy food at Shoyu. Tables have an outlet so it was a perfect for biz and food. Teref, my waitress was very friendly and provided a good service. I ordered green tea and Spicy godzilla roll (spicy Hamachi, Salmon, Tuna, shrimp, crab, avocado with unagi sauce). It was delicious. 😋

A quiet retreat before a flight ✈️ or during a layover. Even around lunch it was pleasantly calm. A nice feature was outlets & USB ports at each table. Ordering is done on via QR code my food was ready in under 15mins. The "Number Nine roll" was lovely with good textural contrast and flavor. The Spicy Tuna was not quite what I expected - instead of the common Sriracha mayo tuna it was predominantly flavored with chili oil. It was still quite good and the staff was more than happy to get me a side of the Sriracha mayo to adjust it to my pallet preference.

One of the more quiet spots in the MPLS airport. Hands down great sushi, prices are a bit high(airport prices), but well worth it. Good selection of sake as well. 5/5 all around , highly recommend

Google
we almost got food poisoning because of the supposed fresh fish here we saw on display, but when we got our meals which turned out to be $91 for 3 dishes and 6 sushi rolls, it looked like something that could have been fished out of a Costco dumpster. I could seriously buy $30 worth of groceries and make a better meal than this. absolutely do not recommend. If you are ever at the Minnesota airport, just go somewhere else for lunch. The ramen bowl tasted rotten, and it was just a cheap convenience store bought ramen that was going for 3x the price. The soy sauce looked red as well.

Google
I got the food to go. Fine for airport food, and expensive for what it was. Everything in the ramen was slightly overcooked. The broth was ok. $20 for a small bowl of ramen should be better than just "ok".

Google
Wanted something sushi related that was a step up from Hissho in the main concourse. This was better but more expensive obviously. I got the New Age California Roll which was really plain and basic but at least tasted like it was made of decent quality using real crab instead of the imitation stuff. Staff didn’t seem to be too well trained in the art of sushi making when I went but, could be worse for an airport choice!

The Trip stopped by at Menepolis St Paul International Airport Minesota, we looking for something hot soup or noodles in the airport..Finally we met that's right restaurant that's it " Shoyu" . The staffs very friendly and explained for the food how we ordered?!, It's was easy and quickly the atmosphere cozy and cleaned we ordered Ramen and 🍣, all the food delicious. We are so full that the right time.. I recommended this place when you looking for Ramen in the Airport. Will coming back to eat again.❤️💖👍

Google
Surprisingly good for airport sushi. I was expecting it to be similar to grocery store sushi, but the quality was closer to a cheaper sushi restaurant (although the prices here were unsurprisingly expensive).

Yelp
Well.... I had a two hour layover here in MSP. I remembered I'd been to this sushi place once, I decided to check it out once again! Boy, am I glad I did. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was outstanding. I will always make a visit to shoyu every time I'm in Minneapolis. The restaurant has a cool, relaxed, environment. My ONE complain is that the food is just a little overpriced.... Oh well. Welcome to the airport food scene!

Yelp
Nice option inside the Minneapolis airport. The service was really good. Great option prior to a long flight. Our ramen was really good.

Eric S.

Yelp
Terrible service, every thing is ordered using a QR code, no one talks to you, try's to charge you a tip before any service is provided, brings you the wrong order and the questions you that you ordered what they brought, ask for my receipt and never checks on you ever again. No tip for you. Plus the broth was bland noodles chewy, and not many vegetables in a vegetable dish.

Yelp
Airport dining is usually sub par. Other than ordering and paying by scanning the QR Code, the service was pretty decent. I didn't really care for the ramen that I ordered, it didn't have a lot of flavor but the potstickers were good. Overall I wouldn't scramble to go back but I would have given them 3.5 stars if that was available.

Yelp
Extremely rude people working there. I ordered from an automated station thinking that I had to order there to sit and eat. When I went to sit down, the gentleman told me I could not sit down because I did not order to eat in there. I showed him my bag that came from there of Miso soup and edamame beans and some sushi. He told me I had to walk down there and get my food and not to sit at this place. Because I ordered a to go versus diamond. I could understand if this place was really busy, but it was only me and two other patrons! I went ahead and sat down anyways, and he got really upset with me and told me to make sure that I clean up after myself. They also charge an automatic 4.5% Hospitality charge. Not that I have a problem with that because I usually give a nice tip but it irritates me when places do that. But more importantly, I couldn't get over the non-hospitality type people they were. Very disappointed and will not eat at this location in this airport again. I travel frequently and go through this hotel, but will not patronize this place again and will tell all my coworkers about my experience.

Yelp
I had 3-4 hours layover in Minneapolis and it's dinner time! As I search around, my fiancée texted me this restaurant. I was like why not. Noodles was my comfort food and it's good for cold time. It has few different ramens, sushi and such. I felt like lighter meals so I opt for mushrooms ramen. A very good choice. Tasty and satisfying. It has 2 different kind of mushrooms and green onions. I like Everything on it. Good portions too. I can't finish it. Now let's talk about service and restaurant itself. They do not have paper menu. You have to use QR code. Not only you have to look the menu there, you also have to order online AND pay it online. The server said well everything is online right? Though I guess nowadays people have smart phones not all have. Then they just won't be able to order here. The restaurant must think those only small percentage. Overall I'm satisfied. My only complaint is only the ordering process. If I ever lay over in this airport again, I won't mind to stop by here again.
google avatar

Yelp
A little spendier than the average fast food places in the airport, but on a cold day when all I want is a warm, nicer meal before a flight this is my favorite stop. The ramen is always filling and I've enjoyed all the sides I've tried (some of the smaller sushi rolls and seaweed salad). For the ramen, seaweed salad, and tip, it was $35 total, which I didn't think was horrible for a sit down meal in the airport. You order and pay on your phone, super easy to add on to your tab throughout your meal.

Yelp
Wish I could give it more stars but I feel like I'm being kind by 3. Service was terrible. Just didn't seem like they could be bothered. My ramen tasted good but was meager for $18.50. There was maybe and I mean maybe a cup of broth in it. $4.95 for club soda from the gun and no refill. Wow. I fly to Minneapolis a lot. This could have been my spot. Oh well

Yelp
Disappointing Experience and Rude Service I was craving ramen and made the effort to walk over from Concourse A to this restaurant in the airport mall. I placed my order using the monitor in front of the restaurant--there was someone ahead of me, so the screen was already on the menu page. I assumed this was the normal ordering process. After ordering, I went inside to wait and was shocked when the waitresses rudely told me I couldn't eat inside because I had ordered from the "take-out side." I didn't even notice any clear signage indicating that distinction--it was barely visible, if at all. From my perspective, I ordered right at their restaurant and paid a hefty amount for what turned out to be a very average bowl of ramen. The ramen itself was nothing special--definitely not worth the price. The only highlight of my meal was the salmon sushi, which was actually quite good. Overall, between the unfriendly staff and underwhelming food, I won't be returning.

Yelp
For airport food, not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick service and good sushi for an airport restaurant. I had a three hour layover that I needed to wait out and preferred a place where I could get some work done, charge my devices and get some dinner and this was great for it! Each table had and outlet for each person and simple scan and order system tied to each seat. This made it very convenient so you didn't have to lug your stuff around with food in had to find a place to sit. I was able to get my work in, charging in, and dinner! After ordering, my drink arrived only a couple minutes later, then shortly to follow the food I ordered. I got a dirty martini, miso soup, and a dragon roll. Food was good for what I expected! I enjoyed dining here and would stop by again. The staff was all very friendly and loved the service.

Yelp
A great option for airport dining because of (1) good service (2) appetizing plating; (3) spacious set up; (4) power outlets at every seat; (5) it is NOT pizza! Recommended: chirashi (basically sashimi on a bed of rice). I am glad they offer miso soup, the only warm option (everything else is cold). I scanned the QR code at the table (each QR code seems to be unique) and pulled up the menu to order on the browser on my phone. My order was delivered in no time and the waiters were very friendly. So nice, considering that most US airports are drab places with grumpy people who work there. Here, the chefs, the waiters, they seem happy to be there! I took plenty of pictures for your reference.

Yelp
Much better than the star rating would give it credit for. We stopped by and got dumplings, spring rolls, ramen and a sushi plate. All were very good. The ramen was good -- a bit salty - but flavorful and chock full of fresh ingredients include a soft boiled egg. The soup was hot too. The spring rolls were quite good too and definitely weren't just heated in the microwave. Service was quick and efficient. Overall a very good choice and much better than average airport food. Bonus: plugs at every seat to charge!

Yelp
I feel like I always take a gamble when it comes to eating sushi at an airport, at least the ones in the U.S. I saw a few other places with lower ratings at MSP within walking distance of my gate all the way at the end of all the other "G" gates, and didn't think seeing three stars at an airport is all that bad - in my experience it's close to a win if you find a bite that at least doesn't leave you super disappointed or hungry at an airport. So gamble away we go... The menu set-up is pretty convenient. You scan a barcode at the seat you're at (each table/seat has it's unique barcode so they know where to send your food). Besides sushi, there are other options like noodles and potstickers. I went with the $25 sushi platter, which seems to be a chef's mix of choices. Service felt quick too. For the sushi itself, I normally wouldn't recommend this dish if this wasn't the airport. It was mediocre but I didn't leave feeling sick and it did it's job alright. It met my expectations for average sushi. The worst piece was the chewy octopus, but it's hard for many places to make octopus right anyways. At least the platter came with tuna maki. I wish the rice had a little more vinegar seasoning and leaned a little dry/hard in my opinion, but it's not the worst I've had. Again this place did its job. I actually thought it was an ok experience for the fact that they had a conveniently-placed power outlet right on top of the table, so I was able to get some work done and not leave hungry.

Yelp
I only got Sake here, but it was delicious and adorable! Service was friendly and quick.

Yelp
Solid option for airport dining! The sushi was good and all pretty fresh. It's airport food so, prices are in line with that and definitely too high, but no higher than want other airport spot. You can just grab any open table without talking so someone because you do everything through the QR code. Easy, fast, and outlets at every table.

Risako O.

Yelp
The staff member was super friendly but the food was just okay. The eggs tasted bland and the bread was oily. Also for $3 extra, I expected to get a little more than just a couple slices of avocado. Wish I had just ordered a bagel sandwich across the hallway:/ I came here at 9am-ish thinking I could get a california roll or something. Didn't realize they only had western food in the morning.

Yelp
Ok let me be honest.... I do not like airport food (in my mind its as if it's not authentic). After a long day of flying I was really hungry and wanted something to eat. I walked past this place then came back. Joseph ask have I been helped ( not knowing he was the manger ) I said not as yet but had a short window before I had to leave again. He recommended the kimchi and chicken ramen omggggg it was good. You guys know I am all about customer service and good food. I highly recommend giving them a try while flying through MSP.

Yelp
If you have craving for Japanese food while at MSP, this place could be your stop to get a quick fix. Service is fast. Tried the ramen, tonkotsu and shoyu, which were quite tasty. The broth was good and noodles were acceptable. Only improvement here would be if it came out hotter (I want to see it seaming). Sushi = fine. Apps = acceptable. Price = airport dollars, quite overpriced. Was not impressed with their actual serving dishes, as some of the ceramics were chipped. More attention to detail required here to ensure customers and staff don't get hurt.

Wei C.

Yelp
Was a little sus that there was no Asian folks work here but glad I gave it a try. Kara Age Ramen was pretty yummy, staffs were nice too.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
The food was good, but I paid $30 for 1 normal steak bowl. However, it's the service that's the worst. I manually put in my order into their system and they never got it, so I had to wait longer - almost missing my flight. So much staff was there but no one checked up on me or my order. I had to ask them myself and show my proof of receipt, since I was already charged. They would all huddle in the kitchen and hang out instead of doing their actual jobs. Very expensive and most of the staff in charge of the tables were lazy. The only good thing are the charging ports at their tables. Just buy from Caribou Coffee if you're starving instead of getting stress from this place.

Tori N.

Yelp
Do not recommend, save your money. Pork is over cooked, broth tastes like eggs and fish. I ordered pork broth. Bamboo veggie was horrible ate one and couldn't eat another. Not worth it!

Yelp
"I, too, like to live dangerously..." YUP I did it friends: airport sushi. I took the risk and you know WHAT - it paid off big time! I was having the craziest sushi craving as I was walking around on the hunt for dinner during my 4 hour layover in terminal 1. Shoyu appeared and I decided to give it a-go. It looked quiet enough and I was starving so...in I went. I was pleasantly surprised by both the service and the food itself. It is an "order on the iPad" and wait situation, but I was given water and started diving into my work prior to my sushi platter being brought out. There are four outlets per station and MSP has great wifi - a perfect setup for anyone out for business. My sushi was not amazing if going by standard sushi expectations, but AWESOME when going by airport sushi expectations. I sat comfortably for like...three hours and was full all the way up until my flight. I decided against a beverage but it looked like they had a good variety of overpriced wine and cocktail options. All in all, I would totally go back if I ever find myself in the Delta terminal at MSP, and highly recommend if you have an extended layover or wait time.

Yelp
Have been multiple times - previous times food was v good. This time, rice was overcooked a tad resulting in nigiri falling apart. Rice ok seasoning. Wasabi had odd taste. Probably the powder was not well mixed or got mixed w something. Had yuzu I roll that was rolled very loose - again falling apart. However v good ikura and masago that were large and generous. Yes it's pricey but it's an airport and you are a captive audience, so be grateful that Minneapolis St Paul Airport has so many great food choices.

Yelp
I went to Shoyu for one simple appetizer and a Coca-Cola. My first time! My last time. You order on a screen and the table- an innovation you might think would make the process faster. How wrong you are. There were very few customers there. Kind of a lazy afternoon. It took them over 15 minutes to get me the Coke. My food never made it. I had to leave because I had to go. I never got to eat. So I step up to the counter and ask them to cancel my order. They were beyond reluctant. "it is right here!" And I said I'm sorry I don't have time to eat anymore. And I can't take it to go. And god knows how long it was sitting there. There was NO ONE authorized on site to simply reverse charges on my card. The manager contacted me via email. He was nice they refunded my card the next day... but oops, NOPE, they charged my card AGAIN. So I called the number on the website which is some kind of NATIONAL parent company. I had to give my personal information and they would file a report of an incident and then maybe I'd get my money back blah blah blah. When?? Unacceptable! Order at this restaurant at your own risk and pray to God they don't make a mistake. You're in for bureaucratic BS after that. And you'll leave hungrier than when you came in. Which might be a good thing based on the food reviews I'm reading now. Choose anywhere else.

Yelp
For airport food, this is as good as it gets. Just had the Ramen with Shrimp dumplings and it was great!

Yelp
This is a rating for airport food. And for a US airport ramen place, this one is not bad. Whenever I have more than an hour connecting in MSP, I head to the G terminal (the entrance to G and F terminals) to have a bowl of Shoyu ramen. It's either the last Asian meal I eat before I am unleashed to the rest of the Midwest states or it's the meal I eat before I get home (which is usually way too late for any restaurant to be opened). You order from an iPad and pay right at your table with your credit card. This is convenient. I don't have to talk to anyone and I don't have to wait for my check. The staff is usually attentive. They serve a variety of food, from sushi to udon to ramen. I have had the udon, Shoyu ramen, sushi, and tan tan ramen. Sushi is ok. The noodle soups are where it's at for this place. My top picks are the shoyu ramen and the tonkatsu. Again, this is airport ramen, so you have to take your expectations down a notch. I think the shoyu broth isn't bad. I ordered the tonkotsu this time and I think the shoyu is more authentic (LOL). Tonkotsu broth was definitely not as creamy as it should but it's still flavorful enough. The noodles are great in these ramen dishes. Texture don't just right. The char siu pork is flavorful and probably more so than average ramen places in California!

Yelp
In the battle of Midwest Delta hub Japanese restaurants, Shoyu is a clear loser to Sora (DTW). The shoyu ramen was too salty to the point I didn't want to drink the broth. The egg was hard boiled, not soft boiled (or poached as I think the menu said). The ume shiso roll could've used more shiso, but props for having a roll and ingredients that I rarely see in the US. The green tea cheesecake was quite small, though I did enjoy it.

Yelp
The fried rice (yakimeshi) was so damn good! My husband practically inhaled it!! I got the tempura shrimp udon and wasn't as big of a fan but even my five year old was eating the noodles... The ginger on the fried rice was so yummy. What a brilliant addition. We also bought the little bubble gum and it's very refreshing after the meal. I wish we had a longer layover to enjoy a huge meal but we got to go and scarfed before our plane boarding. The sushi looked delicious too.
google avatar

Loretta C.

Yelp
Exceptional service today! We had two entrees and a drink while waiting our flight. If you buy a beer you get a $5 shot of liquor too. We also got a bottle of hot sake.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Shoyu! I was a little overwhelmed by all of the options (there are ~10 different ramens, 5-7 udon, and lots of other sushi/Izakaya type offerings) so was glad that the waitress stopped by to give me some advice. The iPad ordering system is awesome for airports because you can order & check out at your own pace depending on when your flight is heading out, but I'm glad they still have servers to help you out if you need it. I got the Shoyu pork belly ramen and a strawberry jalapeño margarita. I was pleased because the pork belly wasn't too fatty and it was a hearty portion. The noodles were a little stuck together at first but texture was good. I asked for some togarashi to dial up the heat which worked for me but they do have some spicy ramens on the menu if you want to try that. I just got back from Japan a few weeks ago and was glad to finally have some yummy ramen. I can't say it stands up to any of the ramen I had over there, but it was a lot better than the tonkatsu I got at ZenBox, which I wasn't expecting for a spot in the airport. Definitely check out Shoyu if you're looking for some food in G terminal at MSP, but it is a bit spendy, especially the drinks-- my margarita was $14.50!

Yelp
Upon entering and taking a seat (self-seating), we were going through the tablet ordering process and were approached by wait staff. She wanted to make sure we knew how the process worked and brought us out water. The ordering process is easy and the flight tracking is very convenient. We opted for sushi, dumplings and ramen. The sushi and dumplings were very good. The ramen broth (mushroom) was delish - but the noodles were like the packs you get for 19 cents a bag. It brought back (not so pleasant) memories of being a tween or trying to make it to the next paycheck on the cheap, after moving into your first apartment. I'd say 3.5 is a reasonable rating for the food quality- service was great, so I bumped it up. I'd skip the ramen next time. Pricing is ok for an airport- not cheap but not outlandish either. All in all a good stop.

Yelp
Just walk past and pick another place unless you any salt with a side of sodium and sugar and likely msg. Seriously unpalatable.

Yelp
On a work trip to MN, my coworker asked a friend for a good spot for dinner before our flight. The friend recommended Shoyu saying that it was great sushi. As we journeyed in the Uber, we surprisingly ended up at the airport! Apparently the friend thought we wanted an airport recommendation! In any case, Shoyu ended up being a fun little surprise. Who knew airports had sushi... and that it was edible?! The sushi was very fresh and good. Definitely not the best I've had, but a pretty swell airport meal. The prices though... man! I was on a work trip, so hey, I didn't actually have to pay with my own money. But it was quite the pricey little meal. I had one roll, a cup of miso soup, and a glass of wine - $54! I suppose you can expect that at an airport but the price was just excessive in my mind.

Yelp
Really solid option for anyone traveling through MSP Terminal 1. Shoyu offers a broad all-day menu; including standard American breakfast classics. However, let's face it, if you're reading this you are probably most interested in hearing about their sushi and ramen offerings. In a nutshell - they're good. And, not just in an "airport disclaimer" way. It's actually good. Personal favorites include he seaweed salad with yellowtail added, their spicy tuna roll, and pork belly ramen. And, their breakfast really is good too. Bonus points for being one of the few airport establishments that's figured out how to have an attentive staff despite self-service iPad ordering. Prices are reasonable too - for the airport. :)

Yelp
What sort of Mickey Mouse operation doesn't take actual currency? They missed out on several hundred dollars worth of an order. Skip this place unless you want to risk fees, ID theft & extra charges. But if you really want those airline points, go ahead.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. Delicious, but a bit expensive, we paid $14 for a bougie, delicious Gin and elderflower tonic cocktail. The service is immediate, order on a tablet and swipe to pay at your seat, our food and drinks were here within 3 minutes of ordering. The BBQ Char Sui is so good it nearly brought me to tears, I could eat it every day. I was shook. The green tea cheesecake was delicious, but it was a small serving. Sake is as good as ever!

Jeff C.

Yelp
7 years later, ramen here has lost its soul. Broth was bland, and the noodle is more like Cantonese variety. Presentation is better than the taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible slow service. Daughter is celiac and they just guessed on gluten free. She read further and it wasn't. Couldn't get a check to leave.

Yelp
Fun and modern dining option at the airport with counter seating and iPads at each seat. Order your food and pay using your credit card on the iPad and a server brings the food to you. The menu had a good variety of sushi, noodles, vegetarian options, and children menu items (burgers, etc.). My daughter and I ordered the Wild Mushroom Soba, Futomaki sushi, and Ume Shiso. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was in decent proportion and tasty. The Ume Shiso was a bit salty for my liking. Prices were comparable to other airport restaurants. Service was friendly and helpful. Solid 4 stars!

Yelp
Ok I know I know, am I seriously rating Airport Japanese food this high?! Am I on crack? But here me out folks: if you're stuck in MSP, there really is no better option! And yes, I'm Asian so I hope my words do count for something ha. Anyway, the first thing you wanna do is stick to their hot dishes. Do not get sushi. I mean come on, if you get sushi at the airport, then complain said sushi isn't the best you've ever had, is that the restaurant's fault or yours for lacking common sense? So with that in mind, I stuck to the pork kimchi ramen and it was not bad! Is it the best ramen I've ever had? No! But did it hit the spot on a 3 hr layover? You bet your ass it did. The service here is also super top notch. That might just be people in Minneapolis in general, but every server was kind and very helpful. And being posted up there a couple of hours ordering food and drinks, it was a great mix of attentive yet hands off service allowing you to do your thing. I find myself at MSP more often than I'd expect, but you can definitely catch me at Shoyu again next time!

Yelp
I hate iPad ordering. Especially when they force a tip on you. It supposed to help stop wrong orders but two items were wrong I had to clear up. And prices are high. One local beer, cucumber roll and salmon special roll for $31 plus tax and tip. I wanted more sushi but I just couldn't take the price. I'm on expenses but 50 bucks for lunch? I have been flying through Minneapolis for two years and always wanted to have lunch here but the delay between flights never allowed me the time. Finally here I am. The have a good menu except for prices and the iPad. Lots of choice, lots of Saki, nice beer menu, soups, and other stuffs not sushi. The place is clean and nice waitresses was helpful. As the picture show a counter with comfortable stools plus some tables. I found the whole experience missing the personal touch. Waitresses only helping you push buttons and delivering food/drink. Little small talk or recommendations. Personally I love chatting with the sushi chef and wait staff about local beer or foods and attractions. Don't forget the weather. One star location, one star food, one star drinK, one star comfort. Total 4 stars. Git rid of the iPads for betTer service and another star - one star. I'm here again passing through and tried some sushi and whisky. Bill now 53 dollars plus tip. I can't put this on the expense account because it's just to costly. They still have the stupid iPads to order from. Took me 15 minutes to order something. The whole concourse restaurants are the same company with these STUPID iPads! Can I get the Corona Virus touching this screen?

Yelp
Completely overpriced!! But the flavors are great! I just enjoy made to order Asian food versus all the Panda Express type places. I have gotten the chirashi bowl (about 10 pieces of sushi and gets the job done. I usually go for the noodles or ramen! They are large bowls for about $15 and comes with great flavors! The pad Thai was too saucy for me and more peanut buttery than the sweet and spicy pad Thai that I'm used too. The udon was good but I had a bad batch of tempura! But I will let it pass. If you like spicy get the spicy curry noodles. They were nice and let me change away from soba to the ramen noodles. I have yet to get more sushi and main dishes but will slowly make my way through the menu.

Yelp
If you're a frequent traveler you've probably figured out not all airports are created equal... This simple human truth holds up for airport eateries too! It can take years to figure out where the best places to eat in most international airports are and one could argue the majority of the food is average at best. Well, I have a personal favorite in Minneapolis called Shoyu. It's a place to have a decent bowl of ramen noodles and a beer while you wait to jet set. I typically stick with Shoyu Ramen and an Arnold Palmer and am more than satisfied with the portion and quality. Again remember this is the airport so some standards must come down, but I think you'll be surprised that this place is decent. Let me know what to you think? As always, you can thank me later.

Yelp
I mean, it's airport food. It was quite frustrating that the roll came out and was falling apart and massive!! Way too massive to fit into my mouth and I've eaten some biiiiig sushi!! We were starving and it worked for a later night meal before everything closed. The waitstaff was nice and attentive.

Yelp
There are several incredible eateries in MSP, but Shoyu isn't one I'd go out of my way for. Though, it's currently the only spot if you're craving sushi... but I can't wait for PinKU Japanese to open... I like the convenience of ordering everything through the iPad. However, it's a double-edged sword because it makes service non-existent (my server poured me water and never came back), yet the you're still kinda guilted into paying 18%+ gratuity. Anywho, onto the food. I got the Shoyu Sushi Platter which comes with 5 chef choice nigiri and 1 tuna maki for $23. You'd probably pay $15 for this anywhere else, but I expected elevated airport pricing. The nigiri was salmon, shrimp, scallop, lean tuna, and hamachi/yellowtail. No one told me this, I just had to figure it out. I thought the sushi was generally good/ok, and I appreciated that the fish wasn't sliced too thin. However, the nori on the roll/maki was inside out (the rough side was on the outside), which affected the texture. I got the seaweed salad too and it was standard, but I wished it came with the citrus that was in the menu photo. TL;DR If you're craving sushi, this is will satiate your craving, but prob not impress you or your wallet.

Yelp
Quick eat, $15-$20 average per bowl of udon or ramen. Extra broth is $2! Self service. You sit down, order on iPad, pay yourself and wait for food! Mediocre airport food but much needed fix for this sniping weather when you just want some Asian hearty soup!

Yelp
This place is...not great. It's in Concourse G, nestled in past security. Staff was friendly and pretty helpful, but the food left much to be desired. Ordering is via iPad, and you pay at your table, which is nice. The sushi was unfortunately not fresh, and whatever salmon they used in the roll I had the fishy smell of fish past its prime. The roll itself was just okay. I unfortunately also had two eyelashes floating in my noodles, which is actually pretty excusable, but disappointing. The food is fairly innovative - think "fusion", but is not worth the prices you pay, even for the convenience of having it at the airport. All things considered, if you're going to spend as much money as they're asking, you're better served at the many other dining options at MSP.

Yelp
MSP's dining options seemingly have grown exponentially over the years, but Shoyu continues to have a pretty good corner on the market for those jonesing for some noodles or sushi prior to boarding their plane. I haven't ventured over to the sushi side of the menu, but I've had some serviceable Pad Thai and Tantanmen Ramen over the course of a couple visits to Shoyu. Given the general hellscape that is airport dining (not so much at MSP though) you could certainly do much worse than either of those dishes. Like everything else on Concourse G every seat has its own iPad for ordering your food and drinks - a godsend for those looking to minimize human interaction while lubricating themselves enough to sit completely still at 35k feet for hours on end. That said, they seem to confuse approximately 100% of the people that use them. But when it works, it works well, as orders have always seemingly appeared before my credit card makes its way back to my wallet.

Yelp
Ordered dumplings and takoyaki. The dumplings were really good. However their takoyaki was frozen. They took it out of the cooler and forgot to cook/fry it. Was pretty terrible, the center was a ball of ice. Honestly, even if they did fry it, I don't like knowing it was frozen/refried to begin with ‍ They didn't charge me for the takoyaki, apologized, and gave me another plate of dumplings to make up foe the mistake which I appreciate. The dumplings were good though.
