Family-run Ybor City favorite blending Caribbean and New Orleans cues—think steam pots, bayou oysters, and blackened grouper. Praised by local critics over the years, it’s casual, welcoming, and very Tampa in spirit.

Google
What happened? I had to delete my previous post in which I gave 5 stars with over 5000+ views. The food and service this evening were awful. I ordered tilapia, and it was not grilled properly, nor did it have any seasoning. The waitress was running all over the place. Our food was cold. My husband and I eat here a lot; it's usually really good, but today we were highly disappointed.

Google
I hadn’t been to Shrimp & Co in years, so I decided to stop in and try their grouper sandwich (at market price) along with the fried green tomatoes. I ordered to go, and unfortunately didn’t see the food until I got into my car. I was shocked by what I received. The grouper filet was extremely small, dry, and completely flavorless—there was more breading than actual fish. For $43; over $22 per sandwich, this was nothing short of a ripoff. The fried green tomatoes were just as bad—bland with no seasoning whatsoever. To pay over $20 for a sad sandwich and a handful of fries is highway robbery. This was an overpriced, flavorless, and disappointing meal. I will not be returning.

Google
They would have had a perfect score five stars if my clam strips weren't overcooked. I'm new to Florida and I just knew this place was going to blow my socks off. The clam strips and the shrimp and hush puppies have a really good flavor. I don't think I ever heard back from the shrimp and company restaurant about their hard rubbery clam strips

Shrimp & Company in Ybor City is a must-visit! The food is outstanding, with fresh and flavorful shrimp dishes that are simply amazing. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a great meal. It's definitely a five-star experience!"

Google
Shrimp & Co. nails it: fresh seafood, creative dishes, and the unmistakable energy of Ybor City. A standout spot in Tampa! Highlights: "Don't sleep on their Smoked Cheese Pasta! Creamy, smoky, and utterly decadent - it's like mac and cheese grew up and went gourmet. The blend of gouda and cheddar smoked over hardwood gives it this rich, campfire-kissed depth that's impossible to resist. Tossed with al dente pasta and topped with crispy breadcrumbs? Chef's kiss. Perfect for when you want comfort food that feels luxurious. Freshness first: Every bite (from ceviche to garlic shrimp) celebrated the seafood's natural flavor. Zero fishiness, all deliciousness. Must-try: Their Shrimp & Grits with smoked bacon is next-level - creamy, savory, and deeply satisfying. Ambiance: Perfect for date night or friends' night out. The patio is ideal for Tampa evenings. Service: Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind.

Google
Got the Shrimp Po Boy Deluxe and it was pretty good but the shrimps was a little too chewy. Still nice for a fulfilling sandwhich and recommend for a bite before a Tampa Bay Lightning game!

Google
Finally made it to this place and the food did not disappoint. Seafood was very fresh, and the shrimp was probably the best I have ever eaten. Service was a little slow, but it was a a bit busy and our waitress was very nice. Music selection was limited, and we heard Súbeme La Radio four times in the hour and a half that we were there. Overall the food was great and I will definitely go there again.

Yelp
Right here in Ybor city in Tampa. We had the Florida stream pot and the Green Mahi sandwich. The steam pot was a lot of food for two. Lots of shrimp, over cooked but still good. The mahi was ok in size and very flavorful. And with a fried green tomato with a crunch. The server Michael was very helpful and completed the dinner. The place was casual and had a straw roof theme inside for a great feeling of Florida. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Server had great recommendations but it's hard to not go with the obvious choices - boil was perfectly spiced (shout out the sausage), CRAZY CRAB DIP WAS A MUST!! We had the place to ourselves so were able to loudly let the team know how good everything was. Totally would come back (Get a bib)

Yelp
Completely understand professional Doesn't respect the customers Doesn't respect the orders I don't recommend to anyone Food not cooked well

Yelp
Nice casual hidden gem located in Ybor City. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and quickly seated right at dinner time. There were only two other tables with customers so business was slow I guess being a weeknight. There appeared to be one guy running the front of the house and one girl cooking orders but they knew what they were doing and did it well. All of our food was excellent! We started with fried green tomatoes which disappeared in seconds (paired well with their house "pink sauce"). The green mahi sandwich and seafood boil were both top notch and the chef sent me out a side of their hottest sauce for my order which was delicious! Hope to return when I'm in town again!

Yelp
We came in 40 minutes before close (not ideal), but the staff was still so friendly and we never felt rushed. Amazing service I had never tried escargot, so I'm not sure how it compares, but I thought it was amazing! I was scared it would be chewy, but it wasn't. It was so tender, and the butter sauce was delicious. For the main course, 3 of us split a seafood boil. We got it medium heat and it was nice. They gave me spicy butter sauce on the side because I wanted spicier than the others I was with. But overall the boil didn't have much heat to it at all. Even with what they gave me on the side. I wasn't as impressed with the main course. I still liked it though! I would be interested to try their other options, but I'm not itching to go back. Overall rating: 4/5 stars

Yelp
Went here for lunch, nice little hole in the wall place. At first wasn't sure about this place as we were the only ones in the restaurant and all the area traffic was obviously for the popular Cuban Restaurant close by ( not gonna say their name but I'm sure everyone knows.). Anyways there is a lot to park however the big downer is that its pay to park and @ $7 an hour a bit expensive if I may say so myself not even free parking for handicapped or Florida DV plates - big disappointment and main reason for 4 stars. Ordered the Mangle Clams with regular butter ( no Chile butter here) and the daily special - Shrimp Po' Boy Deluxe. Everything was cooked to order and hot when served. The clams were small and flavorful, in a butter/wine/garlic sauce served with 3 pieces of sliced toasted french bread to dip. The Shrimp Po' Boy Deluxe with the house made crab sauce was delish - must try. The Po' Boy could easily have a couple more shrimp but otherwise very tasty. Order the season potatoes instead of fries and this too did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean and staff friendly and helpful. The booths did have round table instead of square which made it a little odd to accommodate a table of 4 and only Pepsi products are available.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant on a weekday and it was clean with friendly service. The food was delicious and is cooked to order. They're known for making their own batter & sauce which paired perfectly with the fish and shrimp. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Yelp
Small, unassuming spot in the Ybor district. I had a craving for fried shrimp and I found a spot that I would definitely hit up again. Very friendly and quick service as soon as I walked in. One server was working that spot and she was doing extremely well. Ordered the fried fish and shrimp platter with fries and hush puppies. Price was right, portion was great and the food was piping hot and fresh. Definitely worth the trip. Again, unassuming spot that you may pass by, but don't. Try this spot for some great seafood and quick service.

Yelp
We stoped in for lunch today. I had grouper and shrimp, came out hot, perfectly cooked. They have a spicy shrimp coleslaw , now I don't like coleslaw, but this was amazing. This is worth a stop if you're anywhere near Tampa.

Yelp
Food was amazing and plentiful!!! Service was very, very good!!! I am so glad we couldn't get into Columbia sand walked here! Much more fun!!!

Yelp
The food was delicious. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. He made the experience even better. I really enjoyed the way the restaurant was appointed. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
We were in town and on the last day we tried Shrimp & Co. It was absolutely amazing. Our waiter gave us good recommendations. We'll definitely come back on our next trip to Tampa. You have to try the Spicy Coleslaw, it's out of this world.

Alresch J.

Yelp
Ran into the spot after a pretty lively round of golf but I got to say I've never had shrimp mofongo but this was one of my favorite dishes out of everything we tried that afternoon. I'd have to say that this was some of the favorites you can get at any Spanish restaurant / seafood joint just done a cut above the rest with the flavor and the crispiness and pop of everything that was plated. Your best bet is to order an entree or two and then pile on with the appetizers as they do give you quite a bit of grub to get through and it's very reasonable on the wallet as well.

Yelp
I came for a Shrimp & Co. Po'boy, but decided on looking at the menu to get a lobster version for three extra bucks. (See photo.) It was delicious! Toasted authentic French roll with a little mayo. Fresh Romaine, diced tomatoes, perfectly crispy-battered fried pieces of lobster, so-called maketnaisse (like a traditional remoulade... it just needs some added relish or maybe a bit of olive tapanade to be even more special). The first bite was cruchy-tasty-warm-piquant. The second bite was...mostly lettuce. The lobster was mostly on top, so I opened it up and mixed it in better. I also added more maketnaisse. Yum, wow! Then I tried dripping on some Crystal Hot Sauce. Nice tang! The fries were battered and nicely warm and crispy. The Cole slaw had tiny prawns in it and a little added cajun spice to give it a mouth-watering kick. The Lobster Po'Boy was so amazing that I had to also order a Shrimp one. It was absolutely perfect New Orleans traditional style, with crunch-juicy large shrimp, cooked exactly right. (I took 2/3 of it home for a snack.) The Red Sangria was very nice, with lots of berries thrown in. I'd like to order a pitcher of it! According to the manager, Cami, this pace has been open for 13 years (... he's run it for five). I can see why it's survived! (The waiter, Marco, was also very friendly and enthusiastic about the food.) I *will* be back the next time I can come to Tampa/St. Pete!

Yelp
With a long wait at the Columbia nixing that option, we went across the street to the Shrimp & Co. Restaurant. I had a fried shrimp and grouper basket while my wife went for the soft shell crab sandwich. Everything was surprisingly good at this little hole-in-the-wall. The service was good. The prices were fine. Like the Terminator, I'll be back.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
I'll be honest, our visit didn't start off on the right foot so we had low expectations. My friend and I were going to go tot he Columbia but it was packed so we went across the street. It looked cute on the inside, but when we went to order, they were out of the beer I wanted, then they were out of a menu item my friend was going to order. I ended up getting a seafood empanada and it was delicious! My friend also liked her poboy. I have a couple other places in Ybor that are on my favorites list, but this place ended up being better than expected and I certainly would not disagree with going to it again in the future.

Yelp
Food was great, service friendly and knowledgeable. Good place to relax and recharge after a long day of walking around the city.
google avatar

Karla Z.

Yelp
Great place for lunch! The calamari was so freakin good I could've had it twice! Big ol' serving on a platter enough for two people for sure. Add a pitcher of beer to split and bill was $80 for two w/o tip. Good food, will be back with friends.
google avatar

Maya T.

Yelp
Just gonna start by saying that we ordered the boil over the for and then we go to pick it up and they don't even give it to us and it's not even on the receipt. When we did get the order, it was packed nicely. The potato was cut up which was nice although I wish it said that it was whole shrimp. The crab legs were nice and hot so they were easier to crack. I really wish it would have said that the shrimp were whole bc I would've liked to know ahead of time. With whole shrimp not only do ya have to remove the head, but the poop veins too. That also left broken pieces of the feet and antenna within the sauce. Gonna take off another star, bc also there was NO sauce like barely. So everything was dry. The cheese bites were good and the hush puppies and fish bites, but the fries were not. We called back about the missing order and they were very kind and apologetic about it, alas I still have to take a star off.

Yelp
The vibe and decor of the Shrimp & Co needs a new and fresh look that build confidence with food quality. We were the only customers in the restaurant at 8:00 pm on a Friday.
google avatar

Yelp
Small little restaurant not much to look at however very tasty and some good solid seafood choices here! Really good onion rings and hush puppies and a stable down in Ybor for locals and guests alike. Until next review Kisses

Yelp
Came here on a week day. Normally when i pass, it's packed but luckily , there wasn't too many other customers . We went close to closing time too. The two waiters were nice . The food was pretty good too!

Yelp
My family and I had a great experience at the Shrimp Co. I pass this place almost everyday and finally stopped in to try it out. The food was great, so I'm sure we will be back soon.

Yelp
I'm impressed this place is a must try if your a seafood person. Impressive menu and the seafood is fresh and done extremely well. Portions are huge and the service is excellent.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and had a surprisingly good meal. I love that they offer parking in the lot right next to the restaurant, which is so convenient for Ybor. We arrived shortly after noon, when they opened, and by the time we left at 1:00 pm, the restaurant was packed. We started with the appetizer of fried green tomatoes. They took a while to arrive, but came out piping hot, and I loved the dipping sauce they came with. This was followed minutes later with our lunch entrees. I had the blackened mahi mahi platter, which came with two sides. For my sides I chose french fries, which were the crispy coated ones and excellent, and the spicy shrimp slaw, which I really liked. My fish was a generous portion, perfectly cooked, lightly blackened, and was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient, food was wonderful, and parking was easy. I definitely plan to return.

Yelp
We had been to the coast to look at a car and my wife wanted some gulf shrimp so I went to Yelp for some help. We decided on this place and off went. It's a small location on the corner but had good vibes. It seems to be ran by a family and not a group of outsiders. Ordering was easy and that sweet tea was sweet baby . My catfish was ok but nothing special and my wife's shrimp were on the small side for being advertised as gulf shrimp. The hush puppies were my favorite though. Would I be back ahh I don't know it just didn't have that appeal that would make me drive from orlando to have lunch. It isn't cheap by the way. Lunch was $50 with a tip so keep that in mind when deciding

Yelp
Food was fresh and portions were large. Service was excellent and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
It was first time visiting this establishment and I really enjoyed my experience. The restaurant was a quiet and not too busy for an early Thursday evening, which is what I prefer. I was immediately greeted by the great staff here and I was able to choose my seating. I ordered the shrimp po'boy. This came with fries and what I believe to be the shrimp coleslaw. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. The food came to me hot and fresh. The shrimp was perfectly fried golden brown, and they were not stingy with the shrimp. The shrimp was served on a crisp bed of lettuce and their special sauce and all stuffed into a nice fresh roll. The fries were perfectly crisp! Not soggy, not too hard, they were just right. And the slaw was very different, in a really good way! Loved their take on it. I believe that their special sauce was used in the slaw, I LOVED IT. I devoured this meal. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be returning for another po'boy. I will also have to try the shrimp empanadas next time. Parking was good, I was able to park in the street parking right in front of the restaurant. There are plenty of lots near by. But, the one connected to the building has some sort of glitch (won't let you choose your hours to park). So I recommend street parking or finding another nearby lot.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Food was delicious!! The fries were super crispy! Husband and I could tell they had just fried the shrimp and it was super good. Shrimp weren't greasy at all. WHEN PARKING- try to park in a parallel spot outside the restaurant with the little sign. If you park in the big lot, you'll end up having to pay $15 but if you park in the parallel spot and upload that zone # into PayMobile then you can choose your duration of time and get a cheaper parking price! Recommend this place 100% :)

Yelp
I got a lobster po boy with sweet potato fries and my friend got a shrimp po boy with potato. Really good stuff. I wanted the crab legs but the market price of 64 was a little too rich for my blood. Service was pretty up until the end where the server handed us the check before we finished eating (we had eaten like 2/3 food) so not sure if they wanted us out, but I guess cause alot of people coming in. Will come back soon
google avatar

Yelp
Very very good. Cooked great and not over cooked. Staff very sweet and friendly. They know their menu. Wrapped my food up nice and tight to take it home cuz I couldn't eat it all. Such a cozy little friendly Florida Restaurant that you would expect in Florida. Really big Florida pink shrimp from local fishermen. Very fresh!

Yelp
I'm a real seafood lover, having eaten seafood from Seattle to Boston I'm very spoiled. And before the peanut gallery makes some negative comments, first let me say this. I know Tampa is not really considered a seafood town but considering the city and State of Florida boarders to large bodies of water that our seafood choices would be better. So back to the restaurant, we ordered the seafood boil and it lacked a lot. It was suppose to consist of crawfish & shrimp and they were the smallest crawfish I've ever seen. The shrimp were actually pretty good but they served them with the heads on . We only received chopped up pieces of a potato and one ear of corn, I would have at least thought we'd receive one each. And I don't know why the potato(s) were chopped up . My wife and I don't eat pork or red meat so we asked them to replace the sausage with extra corn but that didn't happen. And without continuing to harp on this place they said our boil was 2.5 lbs of seafood, not food but once we got the platter the waitress told us it was 2.5 lbs of food, not just seafood. If your a causal seafood lover then this is the place for you. But you serious seafood lovers this is not your type of place. But try it for yourself because this is just my opinion.

Yelp
I will start with the good first. Food was delicious. I really liked the shrimp coleslaw and the aranitas. My dad really enjoyed the shrimp. My nephew had the grouper sandwich and potatoes. The potatoes were so tender and flavorful. So glad that we could enjoy the food. Now why I will NEVER come back. The waitress that served us was incredibly rude and condescending. We would ask a question and she would audibly show annoyance, role her eyes and even disappeared after bringing the food. Yes, disappeared. We all needed refills because we had been sitting there for over 20 minutes with nobody coming back by. Like there was 2 other people in the whole restaurant outside of us. Finally got someone's attention and I asked well what happened to our waitress, she dropped the food and never came back. The lady said oh she went to eat something......ummm then someone should fill in for her. There was some other things that happened and how she talked to us compared to the others that had someone outside my family speak up and point out how she was being towards us. FYI- We are not loud, disrespectful and did not ask for anything outside of what the offered.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Super fresh and super hot. Soft shell crab sandwich and florida steam pot so goood! Absolutely recommend visiting here. Dessert cheesecake queso was amazing.

Yelp
The service was excellent as well as the family friendly environment. The food was decent but for the price we felt like it was fair.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. We had a wide variety of items, fresh seafood, fried seafood, wings. Everything was delicious!

Yelp
Average. Nothing special here. If you want some fried food...they have it. The one thing that was great was the shrimp cole slaw. Spicy, flavorful and really tasty. Other than that...everything is pretty vanilla. I ordered a shrimp PO boy... that was alright. It was more like a bread sandwich with a couple shrimp and some lettuce. No seasoning on any of the food...which is why I said it's pretty generic. I had the Po boy , my partner had the shrimp basket. The shrimp were fried well, but bland tasting. The fries were average as well. I took a couple pictures of the food... appearance wise, it looks okay...but upon eating it....nothing special. One of those things that you wish you used your "cheat meal" on something more enjoyable. The ambiance was good...the place looks like a great seafood spot. The waitress was okay. She paid attention... it didn't take long for our food to come out....after eating it....i know why. Would i return? Probably not. Nothing stuck out. But the cole slaw, but that's not enough to make me chose that place over anything else.

Melanie J.

Yelp
We were planning on dinner at the Columbia restaurant but they were full & not accepting any more walk-ins. We're so happy they turned us away because we walked across the street to Shrimp & Co, having no idea what to expect. We were in for such a treat!! Great food and even better service. Shrimp basket with red potatoes, hush puppies and super spicy shrimp Cole slaw. It was all so delicious and our server Gokhan was wonderful- thank you!!

Yelp
Went with my husband. Nice and clean. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it was great. The service was quick s and speedy.

Yelp
Excellent seafood. Ordered the grouper, fried shrimp, pan fried oysters, and escargot. Though the food was fried, it was NOT greasy. The oil they use is obviously fresh and at the perfect temperature. Normally, I like to eat my oysters with cocktail sauce and my fried fish with either Tartar sauce or malt vinegar. THIS seafood didn't need ANYTHING. Not even salt or pepper. The flavor was clean, rich, and flavorful and the texture was firm but tender. I just wanted to let each bite sit in my mouth in order to savor every morsel. These owners wait the tables and are friendly but not uncomfortably so. The atmosphere is quaint, fun, clean, and feels like a local spot-which it is. Though located across the street from The Columbia, we weren't even tempted to leave our little spot of heaven. Ybor city now has paid parking almost everywhere. Don't park in the lot beside the restaurant. It's $15 an hour (paid thru app)! Instead, park on the street in front. It's $2 or $3 for an hour (pay at kiosk). Be aware, the parking monitors frequently checks to make sure that each car's parking fees have been paid. We've been to Shrimp &Co. twice and feel that it has become our favorite place.

Yelp
Amazing meal! Had the Louisiana Steam Pot and it was so delicious! First time eating crawfish- lots of work but definitely worth it! The dish was prepared with a wonderful sauce! Large portion so it's good for two!! Don't miss this great locally owned restaurant. We were waited on by the owner who took her time to show us how to eat the crawfish!!

Jeff A.

Yelp
The food and service were great The price of our meal was very reasonable. The only problem I have with the restaurant is there is no free parking anywhere around. Last 4 times we have been there no problems, but tonight got a $45 parking ticket in a spot that's always been free. My mistake for misreading the sign, but this will cause me to take my money and business elsewhere.

Yelp
Outstanding little family owned spot. Very good portions and outstanding food. The shrimp empanadas are really good and hot. The lobster pot boy was super good. The shaved and fried plantains are so good. Never had them that way before. The fried cheese cubes were very tasty. Colombia was booked and I am glad it was. I highly recommend Shrimp and Co.
google avatar

Yelp
Fast service; great seafood; and cute atmosphere. I had the grouper sandwich with side salad instead of mash potatoes. Other than Ybor city not being the same after covid, this place is still rockin!
google avatar

Andre P.

Yelp
Great food great experience! Took the kids and they provided a cost effective option for my daughter to have crab legs despite them not being on the kids menu. On top of that all the food was top notch

Michelle-Lee G.

Yelp
Wow, can I give 10 stars for my waitress Faith? First of all it's a Friday afternoon (1pm) in Ybor (busy), second Faith, (my waitress) was the one and only wait staff at work, like yes she was absolutely alone. She single handedly took care of everyone of the tables with a smile on her face, a pep in her step and never once did I see her catch an attitude or seem frustrated . She had everyone's order correct and was attentive despite being all alone. In my 40+ years I've never had a waitress that professional and on point. Here's the kick; this woman (Faith) also had an issue that would have put any woman behind and she remained ahead, (it's not my place to tell her little secret ). I tip my hat to her. I would have probably bailed but she made it work. I am honestly so impressed with her! On another note; the food was great! My fiancé raved about the crab dip and my crab was seasoned to perfection. And surprisingly we didn't wait to long for our food. 10/10

Yelp
Excellent staff. There was a long wait but staff was mindful of people waiting; excellent food and service. Our waiter was extremely funny and attentive.

Yelp
The food was excellent as well as the service. Out waiter was very nice and very attentive. Some things there can be a little high priced because of the market prices but 10/10 and I will definitely be going back
