Shriver's Salt Water Taffy & Fudge

A visit to Shriver's is a must every year when we vacation at Cape May/Ocean City. Having been born and raised in Somers Point and working summers on the OC boardwalk, I guess you could say I've been going there my whole life, and I am old! The salt water taffy and fudge are my favorite! The taffy comes in a large assortment of flavors, and you can watch it being made in the back! The fudge is the best I've ever had, and maple walnut is amazing! The shop is always clean and well stocked all year round and the staff is very friendly and happy to help. I highly recommend Shriver's Salt Water Taffy & Fudge!

What a fun experience! They have a sign up when they are making taffy in the back and you can watch them make it fresh on site through the window. (What a great job 😋) The store has so many flavors of taffy to choose from either in gift boxes or you can pick your own and full up bags. If you want the freshest, softest, most flavorful taffy, this is the place to go. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Great spot on the boardwalk. Numerous other candy treats to choose from as well.

At Shriver's, you cannot get a "single scoop" of gelato. However, they have single scoop cups that they say are two scoops. It is a traditional single scoop cup (about as big as an Italian ice cup, a little shorter). I asked for a single scoop and the young man at the counter said, "I'm not allowed to do that, I would have to charge you for a two scoop". My friend got a two scoop cone. It was literally one scoop. I am not exaggerating. If you were to get half the ice cream, it would just be ice cream inside the cone, none on top. Listen, If you want to charge 6 plus dollar for ice cream, fine. But don't pretend it's two scoops. It's one. No one is that stupid. Just say that is what a single scoop costs! Also, I did try to contact Shriver's instead of posting my grievance, but there was no place on their website to contact them. So here I am.

Fun for kid to see how they make taffy here if you come at the right time! Incrediblely large number of taffy choices. Largest selection of fudge seen anywhere. Prices a bit higher than elsewhere

The greatest salt water taffy at the Jersey Shore, by far. Taste, texture and variety can’t be beat. They also have a huge variety of flavors in their stores. You can just grab a plastic bag and fill it with your favorite flavors.

I ordered the small packs of taffy for my wedding welcome bags. I was able to pick the flavors I wanted in the packs of taffy and they tied them all up with a cute bow! The ordering processes was easy and the taffy was delivered quickly! The taffy was soft and delicious!

Shriver's on Asbury Ave sets a new standard for bringing the boardwalk to Main Street!. The moment you step inside, the blend of classic counters and modern aesthetics creates a delightful atmosphere. The taffy selection is outstanding, boasting a wide array of flavors available in pre-packaged assortments or customizable options from bins. My favorite is the gelato! The fudge, a true standout, surprises with its rich flavors and smooth texture, a welcome departure from the typical graininess found in most tourist spots. My only regret is not stocking up more on the exceptional fudge – a mistake I won't repeat. The Flagship store is located on the boardwalk, however Shriver's makes getting these sweets easily accessible with this store located in the heart of Ocean City's shopping district. If you want to watch the candy making process then don’t miss there store on the boardwalk.

This is a wonderful place to visit while at the beach. Their chocolate is so good- favorites are the chocolate fudge, pretzels, and macaroons. They have ice cream and salt water Taffy. Staff is friendly and it is quick service

Fresh macaroons are amazing! Also, the caramel chocolate apples are out of this world and made all year round!

I'm not huge on salt water taffy, but my husband is and he says this is one of the better places for it. Their fudge though is top notch and reasonably priced. Try the sea salt caramel for a lovely sweet and salty treat. The store itself is fun to wander around, since they have so many offerings and so many off-the-wall candy creations. It's worth a stop!

Shriver's on the Ocean City Boardwalk is a must-visit! We love popping in for small treats since it's easy to overindulge with their amazing selection. From fudge and chocolates to nuts, ice cream, and jelly beans, there's something for everyone. Today one of our favorites was this, which we ate on the car ride home. Too good! So much peanut butter and resembles mini butterfingers. The service is always friendly and quick. The ambiance is lively and fun, with the happy buzz of kids around. Highly recommend for a sweet treat stop!

Second time we got gelato here. VERY good. The kids serving were pleasant. $7.50 for three nice scoops is really good price for the boardwalk and for the quality. Cool shop with all kids of treats.

When I come to OCNJ I always make a stop at Shrivers for salt water Taffy. I think there Taffy is the best on the boardwalk. However their fudge is ok and otherwise it's a candy shop with all the typical stuff.

This place is AMAZING! Had some of the boardwalk candy I was looking for and that Jilly's didn't have, like fruit slices and gummy coke bottles. In addition to the candy, they also have a wide selection of fudge, taffy, and gelato. Staff is very nice despite it being quite busy. They have sugar free fudge in a handful of flavors as well. Really appreciated that you can get the fudge in pre-made containers instead of getting at the counter-perfect for gift giving! They make the taffy in-house and have a window to watch but unfortunately the taffy machines were not on while we were there. Air conditioning is very cold and refreshing. Gelato has lots of flavors. Have to get 2 or 3 scoops; they don't do just one Shriver's is a must-visit!

I like the store overall but everything here is way overpriced. I know it's the boardwalk but seriously. The pay and weigh system doesn't put markings on the bag so you don't know how much you're spending until it's too late. I just spent 34 dollars on this. And a small thing of six chocolates is 10 bucks? Are you kidding me? You can do better.

Such a cute place! And the variety of some of the yummiest things! From fresh fudge to homemade truffles! I tried several different taffies, a half a pound of the pistachio fudge and some carmel corn!! Can't WAIT to go back. And I wish I would have gotten the awesome woman's name that helped me! She was soo patient and ready to explain what was what ! Amazing Lil place

I ordered a delicious strawberry gelato from Leo. It was a small cup serving and topped with delicious gelato as high as the depth of the cup. It was my late afternoon lunch - what could be better than a creamy delicious, fruity gelato for a mid afternoon beach lunch? The service was so warm and kind. Thank you!

I've been going to Shriver's since I was a kid, and it is definitely a family staple! The fudge and taffy are delicious. However, the store is usually extremely crowded with people, especially at night. Additionally, prices are high in general and they have a lot of marked up name brand candy put in their own packaging.

Candy apples are delicious always fresh and crispy. Fudge and taffy are always fresh and delicious!

I got a great Christmas present from a great friend and this was what we got. A 2lb box of the best salt water taffy we've ever had. We would always get taffy from the shops in Florida. Not sure what there selling because it's nothing like this Taffy. We got a assortment of different flavors of taffy and each one is so good. My girlfriend says she's not had this good of taffy since she was a lil girl. That should say something right there. We was very happy with our gift and a special shout out to you Denise Z. You did great. We will definitely be ordering from this place soon as soon as this box is finished.

If you are down by the shore and craving salt water taffy this is the place to go. The store is rather large and besides having a huge variety of salt water taffy, there are different flavors of fudge, candy, truffles and other nostalgic candy. The store is narrow but long which results in a bit of a crowded experiment. The fudge is made in house but sadly when we were there none was being made. A pound of fudge runs $15 and you can get prepackaged salt water taffy from $5-$30. There is also an option to pick your own and pay a fee of $10 a pound. Gloves are provided for hygienic purposes. The reason I'm knocking one star off is due to the long lines and seeing empty registers which would help. An easy fix. Highly recommend a visit when in town for a hometown treat!

The saltwater taffy was practically flavorless. You can barely taste the fruit flavors and the chocolate ones? You're better off with a tootsie roll. Their fudge didn't wow me either. It also lacked flavor, but was excessively sweet.

Fun store for a bunch of kids. Lots of choices. Prices are high but to be expected at the beach in their location. Would definitely go back.

Shriver's in the heart of the Ocean City Boardwalk is the most famous candy store on the Jersey Shore. It is an institution that has sold its goodies at this iconic location since 1898. Immediately one will think of Salt Water Taffy when one thinks of Shrivers and indeed you can watch the creation of this local specialty at the rear of the store in scores of different flavors. Fortunately you can mix and match. Fudge is also popular here and comes in several varieties as well. And if neither of the top two sweet attractions interest you - have no fear - there are dozens of other candy concoctions to tempt you. After all this is Shriver's on the Ocean City Boardwalk!

A must see for tourists! Delicious salt water taffy and smooth fudge. They have a variety of flavors for both, including a pick your own station for taffy so you can bring home all of the flavors you love. There is also plenty of candy, including some old classic flavors. Kid friendly too. Not as packed as normal due to COVID-19 which is nice. Overall, I come here year after year and would recommend it to others. The chocolate peanut butter fudge is a must try!

I spent summers in Ocean City as a kid and remember Shrivers. It was fun to go back to Ocean City recently and find it is still there in the same place on the boardwalk. The salt water taffy comes in so many different flavors and you can watch it being made. While they have expanded what they offer, I was glad to see they still have double dip mints (dark and milk chocolate) which was always a favorite of my mother and me. They have fudge in a number of flavors. I always liked the pistachio flavor but double chocolate and chocolate peanut butter are good as well. There is easily something for anyone that likes candy.

I've been visiting Shriver's taffy since I was a child and it's always such a fun place to stop by! Oftentimes, you can go to the back of the store and watch them making taffy. Sometimes they'll bring you out fresh, warm taffy too! I always pick up taffy to bring back to family members, and most of them have specific requests. You can also get a wide variety of fudge, chocolates, and other candies here. This is another spot that I have to stop by when visiting family in NJ!

Taffy so good that we have to get another piece of luggage to take some home. Family all loves this taffy and everyone constantly changes their minds to what their favorite flavor is because it's the newest one they put in their mouth.

I have been a shrivers customer for over 25 years The quality of the salt water taffy and chocolates have not changed not one bit . Try the molasses pops hand dipped with milk or dark chocolate. The macaroons are always fresh and the almond cookies are perfect . If your in Ocean city this is a must stop . Something for everyone including over 25 different varieties of gummy bears .

There is no better fudge to be had on the shore. My husband and I served little pieces of Shriver's fudge along with cupcakes for our wedding and it was a big hit. My favorites are the tin roof (marshmellow, chocolate chip and walnuts in vanilla), pistachio and straight up vanilla. They also have a number of other yummy goods here including most any candy you could imagine. I enjoy the coconut clusters quite a bit.

The best taffy I've ever had, hands down! Don't bother trying anyone else at the beach. Make the trip here you will NOT be disappointed. The kids that work the register are also very nice, which is an added bonus!

Stopped in for some fudge and mint rolls and were greeted by the sweetest lady. She was passing out fudge and had genuine interest in saying hello and inviting us in. We would come here anyways, but she made the experience memorable.

Best taffy anywhere - period! I order taffy from Shrivers regularly and it is delivered fast and fresh. Love to visit as well. You simply cannot do any better for taffy, fudge and candy in OCNJ.

Best place for fudge on the boardwalk. It is so creamy and it has the perfect amount of sweetness. It is worth it for the money. Also the staff is always friendly every time

Stretchy gooey taffy and creamy melt-in-your-mouth fudge. Definitely the best on the boardwalk... or anywhere for that matter. Pick-n-mix taffy is the best! Some of my favorite flavors are chocolate peanut butter, mango (new), white chocolate (new), cinnamon, vanilla, creamsicle, pina colada (new) and sour cherry. Actually I'm in love with just about every flavor except the mint ones. And the fudge is divine. Chocolate marshmellow, mint oreo, chocolate peanut butter... mmmmm. I've never even tried the other candy they have, though it all looks spectacular too. One question Shriver's - why do you put a giant scale right in the middle of the store? I'm about to consume ten pounds of candy; I do NOT want to weigh myself now!

This place is packed! It's like being on BART during rush hour. Little old ladies will knock you down. This store has EVERYTHING. Salt water taffy, chocolate covered pretzels, prepackaged goods to take back home, macaroons, and fudge. Lots of glorious fudge. My current favorites: Reese's Pieces and Chocolate Coconut (tastes just like an Almond Joy...yes I know their are no almonds in it, but go with it.)

So, my 400th review takes me out of the Burgh and into Ocean City New Jersey. A place that's very special to me, we've had many family reunions here and I've vacationed here on a number of occasions. It's a review of more than likely the most bought item people bring back to friends from the shore, salt water taffy, and not just any taffy, Shriver's SWT. It's a sweet treat i love to get when in OC, my favorite flavor is lime and orange is a close second. It's a great place to walk into and lose yourself looking at all the flavors, watching the taffy pulling machine stretching out the gooey taffy, then cutting it and finally wrapping it. There has to be over 50 flavors. Great place for the fudge lovers too. Tons of flavors, my personal favorite is chocolate and peanut butter, cookies and cream is a close second. I take home at least 5 pounds to pass out to people and at least a pound of lime for myself.

Best fudge I've ever had. Never even tried the taffy. I insisted that the fudge be served alongside dessert at my wedding, that's how much I love it. Best flavors: pistachio, maple and tin roof which is vanilla with marshmallows. The straight up vanilla is great too.

I'm giving this place three stars not because the taffy is bad but because they are unsanitary. Bowl of fudge at register I ask cashier if there was something to pick it up with like a toothpick, spoon etc. Rudely she says no like I was crazy. Well sorry but this will be the last time I go to this store. It's flu season and they have people putting their hands in a fudge bowl to test test their fudge. Sure enough as I was standing there someone grabbed a piece. Just gross and her response rude.

Shriver's is amazing. They have the best salt water taffy in the world. The fudge is excellent quality, also. The pricing is fair considering this is the only place you can get their product. The staff is friendly and helpful (they even give you free samples if you ask!). And, you can watch them pull taffy through the window in the back. The bottom line: Shriver's is a great place for families and individuals who just want some sweets for the shore or to take home. One last tip- buy twice as much of the salt water taffy, and freeze it. It will last a long time in the freezer, and it gives it a great crunchy texture.

This place is candy wonderland!!! Popular store on the boardwalk and so packed out so you know its so good. As soon as you walk in you see every type of flavor of taffy you can think of and fudge!!! Its just like an overdose of sugar and its all worth it. You can make yourself a mixed bag of saltwater taffys and its by the pound or you can buy it in nice little gift boxes also. In the back theres a huge window and you can see how your fresh saltwater taffy is made and its so cool and they even tell you history on how it started and how its made. The workers are so nice and the place is just so great! I am so glad I went there and I wanna go back soon. Nothing like some sweet delish saltwater taffy on the boardwalk, Jersey style! If you come down here you def. gotta try this place out and try out everything you can put your fingers on and theres every type of mix and flavor of fudges! They sell them small candy bar style and you gotta eat it as soon as you get it. They even have cute little stuff animals and lollipops, jellybeans, old school candies like necco, mary jane, jaw breakers or lemon heads, and you make yourself a nice big bag of goodies! Def. a great family place to come and just sugar out on !

Although the physical store on the OC, NJ boardwalk is closed at the moment due to the coronavirus crisis, you can go to the website or order by phone. Someone is there to answer and take your order during business hours. Not only is their candy the best and better than it's ever been, the people who work there are as sweet as the candy! (Note: If the online ordering on the website won't let you place your order, it's because its security program is hyper-sensitive. So, don't take it personally. Just dial them up on your phone during business hours and place your order that way.)

Review is not for taffy but for their ice cream. Amazing! It's very hard for me to rate this because I'd give it 5 stars but out of the 3 cones we ordered one of the flavors (blueberry) was a little spoiled. My son got an upset stomach from the richness and possibly because the ice cream had slightly turned bad. So lesson is to taste test the flavors since they let you. However, they had all the details right. Served the cones with a pretzel stick... yum. Cones had different toppings: chocolate, nuts, etc. Great flavor (all but the blueberry) and great girl helping us behind the counter. Another warning, it's very pricey. 3 cones were over $14.00

As crazy as this sounds, I have never bought a thing from Shriver's in my life. Why review then you may ask? Because I have been in the store my times then I can remember and it fascinates me to no end just watching the taffy making process that goes on if your lucky enough to be there when it happens. The equipment is in some cases 40-50 years old yet it still does the job fine pumping out a few hundred pieces a minute. The other thing worth noting is that in season when the store is packed with people they by-in-large do not give out samples. Last Friday and Saturday I heard people complaining to each other about not getting samples and how much of a "rip off" it was compared to other times they have been in the store. Get a freakin' grip. You're not entitled to any freebies and if you want taffy that bad then by God just buy it since they have such a plethora of flavors. One of these days I'm sure I'll buy something but until then I'm content to watch it being made and to enjoy any samples if and when they come. (Peach last Wednesday was divine.) (Also on some nights at 8pm they will give away a few of those giant balloons that are shaped like taffy pieces.)

I LOOOVE Shrivers! I have great memories of this beautiful and fun candy shop from when I was a child. Our last stop before heading back to Glendora was Shrivers - my grandparents would get my sister and I a box of taffy w/ a cute little stuffed animal, etc. adorning the top to cap off our day at OC. They still carry them 35+ years later! Shrivers has an incredible assortment of candy - both chocolates, fudge and of course salt water taffy. They also have delicious caramel and candy covered apples, a sugar free line and adorable stuffed animals, calendars, mugs, ETC. It is a colorful and endearing shop with friendly staff and the giant salt water taffy 'guy' that walks around periodically (my son thinks he's a hot dog!). The tradition and taste continues with my own children. Did I say I LOOOVE this place?! To me, Shrivers is synonymous with Ocean City - my favorite place in the world (so far!) : )

Candy heaven! Their taffy is the best I've ever had (and I grew up in a beach town in the mid-Atlantic with its fair share of salt water taffy) and they have a ton of assortments for when it comes to picking gifts for family, friends, coworkers, etc. For as much business as they do, it is pretty awesome how they make their taffy on-site for all to see. My favorite? The wall, yes you heard correctly, of boxed assorted chocolate treats. My favorite part of each summer is picking a box or two to bring back to friends and coworkers. Don't be fooled, I also bring fudge and a box of non-perils home as well. Next door is their ice cream and gelato shop. Compared to other places, it's definitely on the pricey side.

This review is for the taffy only. I have come to Ocean City my whole life and can tell you that Shriver's taffy has ruined me for any other taffy out there. It is the only taffy in my book. Fresh and flavorful, this is the good stuff. They have so many delicious flavors and every year they throw in a couple new flavors. Shriver's is a must when in OC. I always grab some to take back home for friends and co-workers.

I dream of their vanilla fudge and cinnamon taffy. This place is hands down the finest on the Jersey Shore, and I look forward (with some desperation) to my yearly visit. I know I can order online, but would it be as special then? Probably not. Other favorite taffy flavors: root beer, white chocolate raspberry, peach, tangerine, creamsicle, lime, lemon. But the cinnamon is the king for me!

The fudge is amazing. The flavors of taffy are diverse and creative. We come here every year when we stay at the shore.

I just found a long blond hair baked into my coconut macaroon. These macaroons are not sitting out on display, they are sealed in small plastic bags. This means that the employees preparing them either aren't wearing hair nets or aren't wearing clean clothes. It was the only item I bought yesterday so I'm very disappointed. They need to try prepping/baking with more care and attention to detail.

Best salt water taffy i have had on the East coast. Growing up on the west coast, i have been spoiled with flavor in my taffy. A lot of these places now days focus more on the taffy and color than what it tastes like. I would rather have no taffy at all if there isn't enough flavor. Thanks Shriver.

We just used Shrivers for our wedding favors. The taffy is incredible. The personalized boxes that are included in the price is also a great addition. It serves as a very nice keepsake item. I really appreciated the free shipping that came along with placing a large order. Holly is just wonderful to work with and will make sure her customers are well taken care of. Everything was packaged with care. We will absolutely use Shrivers again for upcoming events and will highly recommend to our friends and family. Shriver's Salt Water Taffy and Fudge on the Ocean City Boardwalk is a must visit for me when I'm in the South Jersey shore area. Even though salt water taffy shops are a dime a dozen down here, Shriver's rises above the pack. For starters, no one else on the Boardwalk can claim to have a working candy factory as part of their store. You can actually see the taffy being made, which I still have fun watching. They have a wonderful selection of confectionary treats that will have you browsing forever. The store is just as enjoyable to visit as it was when I was a kid. And the old ladies behind the counter that seem to inhabit the place are as sweet as the candy. The taffy is fresh and delicious - not bland or waxy like others I've tried. I also love that you can pick your own flavors, while most stores just sell their saltwater taffy in pre-packaged boxes. You walk around the bins and fill up a bag with whatever flavor(s) you want. I've been coming here since I was 2 and have never found a reason to go anywhere else for salt water taffy. This is the best!
