"You have to stoop to get through the doorway that leads to this 17C cellar. In a minimalist decor, discover authentic and finely executed Japanese cuisine, in which the freshness of the ingredients works its magic in kushiage, sushi and sashimi." - Michelin Inspector

It was an interesting experience to try the kushiage concept (Japanese deep fried food on a stick). We took the 58€ menu to have the sashimi, sushi and palate cleanser on top of the basic 48€ menu. The frying technique was good, crispy, no soggy (except the scallop). But not much flavors lingering in my mind though, or maybe we are too used to french dishes which always pair the main ingredients with the sauce to elevate the flavors. In any case, worth a try for the concept. Ps: we really liked their green mustard

We tried 58 euro menu. 1 more sashimi and Chazuke than the 48 euro menu. 15 different fried meat, vegetables and seafood. Try the Sake there to pair the fried food, it will give you some fresh feeling. The price is very reasonable for Paris. Recommend people who like the fried food to visit, but not a place for good sushi or sashimi.

Step into Wonderland for a two and a half hour, well deserved 2 Michelin star experience at Shu Restaurant. From sashimi to a bite sized fried festival .Surprisingly filling flavor journey. Oh wait... There are noodles or rice and a dessert too, oh my! The generous suzu tasting menu left us full, dizzy and ready to roll over into bed with a smile. An unbelievable deal.

One of the best meals we had in Paris! The set menu was extremely thoughtful, service was wonderful, and the attention to details elevates the whole experience. The decor was very homely and comfortable, but the food and service is gourmet.

Google
Intimate, unique Japanese restaurant with a great tasting menu presented on beautiful ceramics. A bit variety of stimulating flavor profiles, presented in a very kind way (and very affordable to my personal opinion). Highly recommend.

We have been here twice, each time we've been to Paris. You can't go wrong with this place. This place is in our Top 10 places to eat. We had to go back. It's clean, simple, light (even the fried food), fun, and like most of the Japanese culture, cute (Kawaii desu ne)! The staff is extremely friendly. We sat at the bar this last time and had the privilege of watching chef prep the food and present to us what he had made. From the front door to the entire meal, it's all great. We haven't been to Japan but I can only imagine many meals like this. Looking forward to being back again someday.

What a great japanese restaurant it was. We tried the menu with 5 plates. The amusebouche with the prune vinegar was just great, the sashimis likewise and the 15 kushiages that came after were a variety of fried vegetables and meat. Green Tea rice Soup is for sesame lovers and for miso lovers id definitely recommend tasting the amazing simplicity of the miso soup. The dessert was the most simple thing about the menu but after all that amazing food we really didnt mind at all. Having not been to Japan before, I definitely had my best sake in Restaurant Shu, they have a great selection of sakes. Last but not least, the staff is really cool and the service is fast enough to keep you on your toes about whats coming next.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and very delicious. Reasonable price. The entrance like a hideaway is wonderful. It feels like I am in Japan and the service is great. I will definitely come here again.

Yelp
Amazing unique experience - really enjoyed it . The setting is intimate , the service very good and food is exceptional. It's in a very nice part of town also . Lovely to walk around before or after dinner

Yelp
It is hard to find kushiage (deep fried skewers) outside of Japan. This may be the best kushiage-only restaurant in the West. I am not going to name the final piece of the set - it was a great blend of Japanese and French ingredients.

Yelp
My mom and I had an amazing meal here for our last night in Paris! The staff was friendly and the chef was very accommodating of my dietary restrictions. In an old building, the quaint setting made it all the more fun!

Yelp
Solid Japanese food. Everything is nice and simple. I especially enjoyed the sashimi and the wheat noodle, the latter a rare find in Paris. And the presentation was great.

Yelp
Japanese food is one of my favorite cuisines ever, so we had to do some Japanese food in Paris. Eat here if you're ever in Paris and craving Japanese food. SO. DAMN. GOOD.

Yelp
Restaurant Shu is intriguing from the moment you see it's Hobbit-sized entry. Once you duck into the little door and descend the few steep stairs you emerge in the entry of the gracious tiny restaurant where you're instantly greeted by wait staff and ushered into one of the small dining rooms which are exquisitely decorated. The menu consists of full menus and a la carte. We chose one of the menus that included 15 bites of food served 3 at a time with a broad variety of taste delights. The meal was topped off with a refreshing grapefruit sorbet. Staff is very efficient and attentive even at peak dinner rush. There is a limited but nice wine list and a Japanese beer selection.
