The 12 Best Hot Pot Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"For a hot pot experience that feels more like a banquet than a casual dinner, go to Shu La La on Holloway Road. This Sichuan dry spicy hot pot spot is a whole experience. Sit under the watchful gaze of a giant ‘Journey to the West’ mural, sleeves rolled up, steam rising, and construct your meal like a spicy, savoury wedding cake. Start at the base with your protein of choice—maybe frog legs, maybe brisket—and build upwards with layers of vegetables, noodles, and whatever else you fancy, all doused in scarlet-red oil and loaded with Sichuan peppercorns. The numbing heat creeps up on you and pulls you back in for more. Still hungry? Add a side of smoky barbecue skewers: the chewy tofu skin and tender beef slices are non-negotiables. It’s messy, intense, and theatrical in the best way." - angela hui

Came here with friends for a casual dinner, no big expectations — but every dish was spot on. The aubergine & green beans reminded me of home-style cooking back in China. The beef brisket hotpot was tender, tomato rice super flavourful, and the lamb chops were huge! Prices are very reasonable too. But the real standout? The lamb skewers. Properly marinated, grilled fresh with that smoky, cumin-rich flavour — easily among the best I’ve had in London. Only ordered three, but next time I’m definitely coming back for beer and skewers!

Tried for the first time and really enjoyed the food here. 😋The skewers were super tasty!~ especially the lamb and beef, full of flavour without being too salty. I also had the spicy dry pot with prawns, lotus root, potato, spam and cabbage — everything was well-cooked and coated in a really nice, fragrant spice mix. Not too oily either. Finished with the jasmine jelly which was light and refreshing. Service was friendly and the place felt calm during off-peak hours. Will definitely go back!

- Best value BBQ in London! Incredibly delicious and affordable - four of us feasted for around £80! The skewers are perfectly seasoned, not greasy, and packed with flavor. Service is lightning-fast, and the £2 giant pot of jasmine tea is a steal (they should open a tea house!). Located near Angel, it's a local favorite and super convenient for UAL/UCL students. A must-try for BBQ lovers!

Absolutely loved our visit to Shulala (蜀一蜀二) in London! We tried their malatang, Northeast-style BBQ skewers, and charcoal-grilled beef short ribs — everything was so tasty. The flavors were authentic, the portions generous, and the staff were super friendly. We also got a great deal with their half-price offer, which made it even better. Definitely a go-to spot if you're craving Chinese comfort food. Will be back soon!

Absolutely loved it here! The grilled lamb ribs were crispy, juicy, and packed with flavour — literally bigger than my face! The tofu & boiled fish (水煮鱼) was amazing too — super tender and so tasty. Highly recommend both dishes if you’re craving something bold and comforting!

A lovely hot bowl of freshly made noodles with little chunks of lamb in a spicy chilli oil sauce. The noodles had a great chewy texture , perfect for slurping. The lamb was well seasoned with a good depth of flavour. The texture was soft yet I wish the fat was a little more rendered as I was discarding it . The spice level was spot on, not too intense but you know it's there. I happily finished the bowl. Service was slick and the price was very reasonable. Great place for dining alone . No fuss just a great bowl of noodles. Recommended

This meal was an absolute feast! Every dish was bursting with flavor—from the spicy and fragrant dry pot to the juicy grilled skewers. The oysters were fresh and flavorful, and the sides like green beans and short ribs were super satisfying. Loved the pairing with Wanglaoji too! The presentation was beautiful and everything was served hot and fresh. A perfect spot for sharing with friends if you’re craving bold, authentic Chinese flavors. Will definitely be back to try more dishes!

Amazing Sichuan flavors! The spicy hot pot is bold and numbing, the grilled skewers are perfectly seasoned, and the hand-pulled noodles are a must-try. Great portions, authentic taste, and a fantastic atmosphere. Plus, free noodles for orders over £35—what’s not to love?
