Shuck It! Oyster Bar & Seafood

We are so happy we gave Shuck It! Oyster Bar & Seafood a try for date night while we were in town! From start to finish, everything was fantastic. We kicked off our meal with the ceviche, and it was the perfect way to start—light, fresh, and packed with flavor. Next up was the clam chowder, made from the owner’s family recipe, and wow—it was absolutely mouthwatering! Then came the oysters, and they did not disappoint. Fresh, flavorful, and delicious, they were some of the best we’ve had. The seafood slider trio was another highlight, and while all three were great, the crab slider was the standout—so amazing! The shrimp slider was delicious too, and in hindsight, we wish we had ordered some shrimp tacos to go with it. And the lobster? Oh, so fresh and fantastic! The service was top-notch—attentive and friendly. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind, generous with her time, and truly passionate about what she does. It was clear how much heart and soul went into this place. We also loved learning that she and her business partner own the entire food hall and another bar—now we just have to come back to explore the rest! Shuck It! is a must-visit and any time we are visiting family in the East Bay, we will always make it a point to come back!

Oysters looked good but I opted for the crab melt. I thought the crab was decent. The bread was nice and toasted which was a plus. Otherwise I thought overall the place was ok. Small seating area which is understandable considering where they are located. Could be a fun spot with the right people.

I really love this place. This oysters bar is hidden gems in downtown martinez. As you know, it is so hard to find oysters bar in Contra Costa county. This bar located in the main street plaza. My husband and I are oysters lover and we are so happy to find this place Oysters were so fresh and tasty. Each week will have different kinds of oysters, you can call them to ask which kind of oysters they serve on that week. Clam chowder was so good, too. But we prefer it to be more a little bit salty. It wasn’t a big deal, we just add some more salt ourself. We went there during happy hour (Wednesday-Friday from 3-6 pm) we ordered “the mother shucker”, it comes with beer or other beverages (depending on your choice). With that $120 price plus $1 off on each oysters, it was really really good deal. Another thing we were impressed is all servers were so friendly, everyone was so nice. This made us enjoyed our food even more. We definitely recommend this place! we love to support small business!

On a Friday night, it was perfect. Had oysters to start, which were fresh and just right. Had wine to go along. Also ordered the seafood trio sliders. Service was great and just the right way to end a busy week. Can't wait to go again with friends.

Inside a market with a bunch of other cute businesses, literal oyster bar (up high seating) and normal tables by the bar. Other items to chose from such as chowder, ceviche, drinks, etc. And they have happy hour. Shout out goes to Eddie for the excellent service/experience.

Shared a half dozen sweet and creamy oysters, this week was the “Skookum Inlet” oysters from Washington State. Was recommended the Coco-Mango Shrimp and it was absolutely fantastic. The seafood nachos were plentiful and worth taking the time to eat. All this and don’t forget the sangria. Beers on tap.

The service is amazing. Very friendly and welcoming. Eddie is the best. He makes the best clam chowder! Having lived in New England, it’s so good and always hits the spot. The lobster roll is great, get it Eddie’s way where he doctors it up with some avocado and other stuff. So good! They’ve got oysters rotating from different areas, every time I’ve had them, they’ve been great! Lobster melt, crab melt, and seafood nachos. Have never been disappointed. Very chill vibes here. I work in the area a few times per month and this is my go to spot!

I’m from Boston and I know my clam chowder. Eddie makes the BEST clam chowder west of the Mississippi!! Im not kidding. The ingredients plus the Bacon Bits are the Original New England clam chowder recipe!! When I come I always order it, plus I get a to go one for my husband!! Awesome!! Awesome food spectacular service

Friends and I came here during Happy Hour and we had a wonderful time. The oysters were fresh and delicious. We also had their sliders which included two crab (no lobster that day) and one shrimp. Very good. The establishment is a little hard to find because it shares space with several other businesses in a large barn-like building. That was actually good because we could order Bolba at the other eatery. There is a bar with several chairs and diners can watch the oyster server open up the oysters. We sat at a nearby table which was like a picnic table and bench. Very casual. The only drawback was the lone server that day. She was busy with quite a few diners and didn't have the ability to check in on us. Nevertheless, the food was good and I'll likely return.

I just absolutely love it here. The food is amazing. Oysters super fresh and delicious. Today, I had oysters, clam chowder and a seafood michelada! Service was friendly, attentive and just great. Atmosphere is on the divvy part & that's part of the charm.

Oh man. Since wcyc closed down I haven't been able to find good quality oysters. Sofia was absolutely amazing!! So friggin nice polite personable !! And I'm picky on my oysters shucking she did an amazing job!! So sad, yet so happy she's going to college!! Wish I found her sooner soooo sweet!! My goodness. The quality was awesome great conversation!! Was an amazing experience!!! The ambiance is like a rich food cart haha got a mixed drink from shipwrecked. Honestly a great experience!! Yum! 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and we were seated promptly. Craving a "snacky lunch", we opted for the full-size Fully Loaded Crab Nachos ($30). They did not disappoint! Great crab to chip ratio and not over sauced. Our server was nice and we appreciated the warm conversation from someone we assumed was the manager. We will definitely be back to try other menu items when we're in town!

Shuck It Oyster, great story, good vibes, and even better taste! Shuck It is located in a market spot in downtown Martinez, super cozy, casual, and fun. My husband and I sat at the bar, were greeted quickly by the staff and shortly after by one of the owners (we didn't know?!). The owner helped us decide or else we would have ordered one of everything on the menu! lol We decided to go with Ceviche, Oysters, cup of clam chowder and the slider trio. We thought this would give us a taste of everything - and we were right! After eating it all we were stuffed and satisfied! The ceviche had a healthy amount of flavor and protein, and when you add the garlic/habanero hot sauce, it is so good! The clam chowder was by far the best! We started dipping the bread and sliders in it! Definitely best we've ever had! Take your basic chowder recipe and amplify with added flavor and seasoning! WOW! We even ordered some to go! The sliders were also fantastic, each with a different flavor, but our favorite was easily the crab slider! We went in thinking the lobster would be the winner, but we were pleasantly surprised! We already want to go back to get a crab melt! Amazing service, location, and food.

We found this using the United Airlines dining app. It's in a small trip mall with a bakery, sandwich shop, and Sushi place. The service was fantastic and the food was great. Full bar. Great little hang out spot or date night.

Food was one of the best seafood melts ever. FIRE!!! Was at a brunch upstairs, came downstairs to grab food. Menu had a nice variety of items but I had to get the 1/2 crab & 1/2 lobster melt. A cup of clam chowder on the side. s/o to the cook! I asked what was the better melt and when I told him my thoughts, he said "I got u." And that, he DID! The melt was perfect, with lightly garlic toasted bread. So GOOD! We also had seafood nachos.. gone! Pricing was good for seafood.

Went for a Friday evening early dinner before a movie with my bestie. Parking was easy, we arrived 5:40pm. The place was not crowded at all, plenty of open tables. The young lady behind the counter greeted promptly and told us we could sit anywhere or outside. I ordered the slider trio (crab, shrimp and lobster) but was immediately told they had no lobster but could substitute the lobster for either crab or shrimp. I was fine with that, got two crab and one shrimp. I ordered a Sangria and asked if I could order individual oysters. She explained that yes I could but it was happy hour, so the set of 6 oysters was only $15. Um YES please and TY! After we placed our order we wondered outside to the back and it was cute out there, almost sat outside but for the cool weather and the fact that the tables were not cleared off. We went back inside and sat. The food cameo out quickly. My trio was good, the bread was delicious. I do wish I'd have gotten the 2 shrimp, because my shrimp slider was better than the crab (in my opinion) but the shrimp slider, had only 1 shrimp butterflied. Still it was delicious. The crab slider was yummy. My bestie orders a crab melt, she enjoyed it. My Oysters were, oysters - nothing extra ordinary. They arrived with hot sauce, lemon wedges and vinegar/ onions sauce, yummy. Wish they offered baked oysters. I'd definitely return. Cute little spot.

Really disappointed by this place. This is located in the little food court in downtown Martinez and just has 6 bar seats. We came by on Sat and they said they had no warm food at all, I guess their oven/stoves were down so they only had shrimp cocktails, oysters, but also clam chowder, which seems concerning so all I ordered was oysters. Service took longer than I would expect to shuck 6 oysters even though we were the only ones at the bar. The quality was subpar. The oysters of the day were supposed to be from WA but it felt like they gave us a mix of different ones. Worth another try seeing the other reviews but maybe it was just a bad day to go.

This place is in a food court, it offers bar seating, and there are open table seating in the common area. You can't and don't need to make reservations. Seating is first come first serve. Oysters are fresh but on a pricier side. $80 for 2 dozens. With tax and tips, at least $100 for 24 pieces. We got there before 7pm, clam chowder is completely out. Cocktail is decent but cost $16 and up. Other food options are also great and affordable. There are pizza, Vietnamese food, and ice cream & cookies. There is also a permanent jewelry place and drinking lounge upstairs for age 21 or above.

Fresh tasting seafood among party vibes and friendly staff. Visited the Market & Main "food court" due to a friend's birthday party at Bentley's bar upstairs for their R&B brunch. The ordering process is somewhat confusing since the menu doesn't tell you that the different sections are actually different restaurants. Fortunately the servers from those restaurants make their way through the bar, but it was hard to catch them given the busyness. I ended up having to go down to the restaurant counter to order, which worked out since the bar is extremely loud. I had the crab melt, which was generously layered with crab and flavorful. I wished the bread was toasted a little more, but that's just personal preference. The side of seasoned chips tasted homemade and complemented the savory sandwich well. Highly recommended!

Close your eyes and imagine a place to indulge in good food, crafted cocktails, live music, and fantastic ambiance. You can stop imagining now because a place like that exists in Martinez. This market. My partner and I decided to visit this market for date night. The market offers different food options, two fully stocked bars, fresh oysters, and an upstairs lounge to dance it off. The service was top-tier and beyond amazing. I really enjoyed how laid back and social the servers were and how well they were able to adapt to any customer's communication style. I would most definitely make this a routine visit for any occasion.

Found this place on Yelp. Dope little shares restaurants space. Dj helped us out cool dude good vibe. We had fresh Washington oyster , Michelada with oyster with ceviche on top amazing but the star of the show was the seafood nacho well done. I would drive all the way out here just for that. Best of luck and we will be back.

Had a great experience at this oyster bar! I ordered a lobster roll, trio burger, a dozen oysters, clam chowder, ceviche, and cocktail shrimp -- and everything was delicious. The flavors were fresh and the presentation was on point. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because a few of the oysters had shell in them, almost everyone. which took away from the otherwise amazing experience. Still, I'd definitely come back soon

My lobster milk was pretty good. Clam chowder was tasty and the oysters were OK. Overall, this place was a nice vibe.

Mini me and I came here to try the place and she wanted oysters and clam chowder which we ordered to share along with a glass of Chardonnay for me. We came at happy hour so for everything we got it came out to be $40. We placed our order with cashier and grabbed a table to wait for the order which came Out not too long after. They brought to our table but we had to go find napkins and ask another restaurant for an extra spoon. The oysters were tiny and the clam chowder was not very good. It was missing clams. I would have liked to have clams in my chowder. I am glad I came.to try and spend time with my mini me but not sure we would come back to this place.

The only place that is open the latest in the market. Also, now that they have an outdoor bar, you can order and they will bring your order out to you which is convenient. The oysters were okay, definitely some were fishy and had parts of shell, but overall not too bad. We shared half order of crab fries which is good warm but it was overloaded with mayo and other sauces that you kind of get over after a few bites. The owner is a lovely woman and such a boss as she owns most of the businesses in the area. It's a tight space so the bar seating is very limited and always packed. But they opened the outdoor with a bunch of tables and there is an upstairs indoor with plenty of seating. 3 stars because the seafood wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't the freshest. Not sure if this would be the first place I order from with other places around the area.

Not sure if we came on an off day or time but everything we ordered was not fresh. We ordered oysters, the clam chowder, the seafood nachos, and a lobster melt. When asking for a to-go container, there was none. We were told to ask around to the other vendors. We didn't end up finishing any of our food for fear of getting sick.

I had their crab melt for the first time a few weeks ago and I was so so happy. I shared it with a girlfriend and truly that was enough. They are really well filled up with delicious crab. I love their clam chowder and the ceviche, plus their oysters and lobster rolls. Now we add this to the repertoire.

Server was friendly. Oyster was fresh! The sauce was GREAT! Would definitely come by again if I'm in town.

This is probably one of the best clam chowder I've ever had in my life !!!!!!!! The service was amazing and their food is so so so so fresh. I've had many clam chowder in my life and this hands down was amazing !!!!! Definitely will come again!!!!!

Living here in the East Bay, it's always quite tricky to find good oysters. Then I've stumbled upon this place in Martinez and every time I get their oysters it's A+ everytime. I also pair it with their cold beer on tap, exquisite. The service is great, and the place where it's at is a whole different vibe. Lots of shops, different food places. It is quite loud at certain times but I don't mind it. Check this place out if you're looking for oysters. I have not tried the other things in their menu but it looks great.

This restaurant is located in a place with three other businesses. It's like a market or something. There's two bars, an ice cream parlor and a pizza place I believe. They have an outdoor seating area as well in the back. First off, everyone is extremely friendly. Helpful in recommending food and drinks. I was with some friends so we got a few different things. For me, the Lobster Roll was the highlight. Was delicious and fresh tasting. Came on a brioche bun that was soft and yummy. Also came with a side of seasoned chips. The clam chowder bread bowls were good and the oysters were good but a few had little pieces of shell in them. The drinks were really good too. I ordered Manhattans. It's all very pricey though so be ready to spend some dough. I'd come here again for sure.

This place can be tricky to find as there's no sign of it outside the building. The building has other business inside of it, mostly food related. There's a small bar close to the bathroom where you can eat your food. I had a view of people walking in and out of the bathroom. Food came out quickly. The oysters tasted fresh, placed over ice...good presentation. The clam chowder seemed to have a Cajun flavor. It was okay, but I prefer traditional. Food came out fast. Nice lady behind the counter took my order. They stick to health rules about serving oysters fresh and it having it eaten right away which I really appreciated. All good with the service except for the creepy guy shucking oysters that likes to stare at people while they eat.

First time at this restaurant. Ordered at the bar. The young lady working behind the bar took our order. Wasn't helpful at all. Had to clean a table off to seat ourselves. Our order was 2 lobster rolls, not too long of a wait for food. The sandwich was ok accompanied by some potatoes chips. I'll try the oysters next time.

Best place I've eaten at in a long time, and I just moved from SF. This place is a breath of fresh air. The oysters were delicious and shucked perfectly. The lobster roll was served on a warm toasted roll--you can add a sprinkle of bacon or not. The service was great and the person who helped us was professional, kind, and funny. All in all, my new favorite spot.

DJ our shucker was awesome! The quality was exceptional. We haven't even seen a local Oyster spot ever. Shuck It ,delivered. Oysters were delicious and cocktails are on point. Definitely coming back.

First of all this establishment is located in a food hall. I'm not opposed by any means however the photos reflect a restaurant. Upon entering it is located towards the back on the left. You order at the counter and can sit there or anywhere there is a table. This was not made clear and was confusing. I wasn't sure where to go or what to do after I ordered. 2nd I ordered a Sangria. I waited by the bar and finally walked away when it was apparent it wasn't coming anytime soon. We were given a "beeper" once it went off I returned to the bar to claim my food and then sangria. The tacos were small and the taco salad was cabbage arugula and shrimp with spicy dressing. The interior can get a little loud due to several business. I did not feel the price was worth the food but will say the shrimp was tasty.

After work we decided to try this spot and get oysters, inside of market and main. The worker who was a guy was friendly and attentive. I saw how he was helping a couple at the bar friendly , fresh and presentable on point with the food items they had. We ordered (4) oysters and he gave us (6) which was nice and a great surprise! We took them outside to the patio and enjoyed them with our beer and tacos! My coworkers were surprised I got the oysters and they loved them. It was a good starter. I will definitely return and recommend to others to come buy the oysters, at least one round of them! Fresh and nice sizes! Thank you for your great customer service!!

Wow, I'm a seafood snob and this place did not disappoint! We had oysters, lobster roll, crab melt, and everything melted in our mouth within minutes. The quality and flavor is unmatched!

Food taste, preparation and presentation is worth the price. Drinks pairs well with food. Service is really great. Music in the food hall fantastic. The place where this wonderful oyster bar is location is gorgeous and very clean. Will go back again here for sure!

Located in a shared marketplace downtown Martinez. Street parking. Very bright area. Bar seating as well as outdoor seating. Upstairs seating. Basically a few different seating arrangements. Welcoming staff, fast service. Clam chowder - tasty, flavorful, buncha clams, potatoes and good seasoning 5/5 Oysters - todays we're Shookum from Wa. Clean and fresh. There were two different mignonette sauces and both were good. They were a little on the larger side which i normally don't care for 4/5 Drew's Oysters - these were bomb and were probably would've gotten more of these instead of the regular raw oysters. Baked with a butter sauce and bacon bits. Bread it came with was super good too 5/5 Seafood nachos - i normally don't care for nachos but these were definitely a good choice. Good amount of lobster and crab. Chips were crispy. Avocado bits were creamy. Jalapeños were spicy 5/5 We love smaller hole in the wall restaurants and this is definitely a nice addition to the area. A little on the pricey side but will for sure come back considering how good the quality of food AND service is.

Oysters were good. Lobster roll was like a tuna salad or imitation crab(expensive too). Don't recommend the lobster roll.

Quality service and quality oysters. Came here twice back to back weekends just because it's that good. Oysters were fresh and creamy tasting from Washington. The staff were friendly and attentive. Being that this is in a marketplace setting, it was nice seeing other options of food such as Vietnamese, Japanese, American. Italian and some Bars. This is a must place visit for sure

Amazing lobster rolls and clam chowder. Located inside Market and Main in downtown Martinez. They have bar seating in front of their restaurant or you can go upstairs for additional tables and booths. Market and Main is composed of several different food options so everyone in your party can find something they like. We've been a few times and their lobster roll is always a staple. Filled with fresh lobster meat and topped with bacon which adds a nice salty element that plays nicely with the other flavors. My husband loves clam chowder and finds theirs has a nice consistency with a good amount of clams. He also likes oysters and theirs are very fresh!

I've only ever had the shrimp cocktail here but I enjoyed it enough to go back again. Very tasty shrimp. I go during the Wednesday through Friday 3pm to 5pm Happy Hour time to get a better price. Friendly staff, quick service. It's fun to sit at the bar. I give them 4.5 stars. I'll be back again. Thumbs up.

I went here for dinner and ordered oysters, seafood nachos, and lobster melt. Oh my word! Everything was so yummy. It was crowded because there was a live performance on a Friday night. It was all a great experience.

I was starving after taking the train from arcata here and ordered a seafood michelada, lobster roll, and a cup of clam chowder. It was all okay. Just okay.

Grabbed a HUGE Michelada which was "decorated" with a stuffed oyster, crab claw, celery , shrimp etc... practically a meal in itself.. it was paired perfectly with the live music that was playing outside on the patio. Wonderful place to hang out with friends.

The crab melt is amazing and the oysters so yummy this place has it all love the counter seating the staff is absolutely amazing. I truly recommend this place if your in the mood for yummy seafood.

We were excited to try this place. There a few businesses in this shared space. Pretty cool vibe. We went with the Mother Shucker. I am a die hard oyster fan and my boyfriend wanted to make my heart complete on Valentine's Day with all the oysters I can eat. Unfortunately the second one I went to eat I nearly threw up and instantly spit out, it was clearly a dead oyster, the most rotten taste and sparkling/tingling, as fruit sometimes does past its expiration date. I instantly jumped up and ran to the bathroom to throw up. It wasn't long before my boyfriend got one too and ran to the bathroom. There were a few dead ones. The oysters also began spawning releasing their milky, let's not go into detail. Very off-putting, we left several uneaten. Will not be back unfortunately. It was around 6 when we began eating. Took maybe 40 minutes to get our oysters, there didnt seem to be many people there, most only seemed to be enjoying a beer. As we ate, another couple sat beside us and were told they were out of oysters when they asked to order 6. They said this was the third time they have tried to come here to order some and they were out. After some time passed the waiter said he found 6 for them. That was strange. Strange to be out already as well when they weren't very busy and so early in the evening on Valentine's Day. Anywho, my bf is a bit scarred from the incident, which is very unfortunate for me because it seems I may never get to enjoy oysters with him again. :(
