Even More Dallas Bars Temporarily Lose Their Liquor Licenses Over Failed COVID-19 Inspections | Eater Dallas

Went on Sunday for a date. I really enjoyed the food. Some dishes are entry-level spicy, others are more mild— all very tasty. The service was speedy. The food was very affordable in comparison to most establishments nowadays. We had the Gumbo and the shrimp étouffée, with hush puppies as an appetizer, and a side of Cajun fries. I got full and still had leftovers by the end of my meal. We will be back!

Google
Been here a couple times! This place was the first place I ever tried oysters! Delicious!! Hannah was my server a couple time amazing and kept insisting to try the pasta so I came here and tried the shrimp pasta got it blackened omg soooo good!!! Great price! We had Chloe she was such a doll!! Very attentive and friendly and recommended more things to try when we come back! Great customer service!! Completely deserved the 45% tip she was amazing! The place is clean and relaxed. Tons of regulars feels very friendly and family oriented. Will def be back!

Google
Great. Little spot. The prices were really reasonable. The catfish was a poor boy, but it was big and tasted good. Wish they had a lunch menu and the option for a cup of gumbo instead of a whole order. But overall, I'd be back.

Google
Shuck n Jive is a vibe! It has a “Cheers” style atmosphere, your friendly neighborhood bar. You can tell there are lots of regulars, it’s the kind of place you keep coming back to. I love supporting a local dive bar! Max is always quick to serve up a strong drink and has a killer playlist! Chloe is very attentive and makes a delicious Bramble. Service is great and the drink prices are even better! The Cajun pasta is one of my favorites and the salmon is a tasty healthier option. Plus, who doesn’t love a fun karaoke night and a chance to win some money?! You’ll definitely catch me at Shucks on a Tuesday night enjoying the lively entertainment! I went on a limb and ordered a catfish, oyster, and shrimp po’ boy and it did not disappoint!!

Google
This is an eclectic lil joint because of the bar scene. It was raining so we had to sit inside. Our food was piping hot and tasted good, Opt for the patio if the weather is favorable.

Ron S.

Google
Top of the line service. Erin was terrific, the best service I have had in a while. The catfish fillets are huge, I ordered two and could only eat one. This is a great place to have drinks or watch the game.

Google
Oysters so nice I had to do it TWICE! Not exaggerating here, I haven't had oysters this good since I was in Boston. Not even a huge oyster guy, but good god were they exceptional. Also had an order of the popcorn shrimp, blackened chicken pasta and the creole shrimp. Please, do yourself a favor a check this place out. Sat on the patio, breeze was flowing and it was hard to paint a better picture.

Google
Be careful, I went to that place to eat and have a beer, but when I checked the receipt, it was the third time they tried to charge me for things I never ordered. Also, the last time I paid was by card. I gave my card to the waiter. Hours later, they tried to charge me twice for transactions from a supposed company. Be careful in that bar.

Yelp
Got to enjoy some crawfish this late in the season. They were great! Also added some corn and potatoes. I would say they were seasoned just right for me. No added seasoning needed. They do have added sauce and seasoning to bring them up to your heat level. I grabbed some hushpuppies as an appetizer. They were so yummy! They came with a sauce you could drink if you wanted. I sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day before all the rain. Bad thing, the flies were hungry too Overall great place to relax and listen to some patio music. Will be back when in the area to try out some more seafood.

Yelp
I wanted seafood and saw the restaurants as I stopped at a red light on Greenville Ave. The sign indicated Cajun and I now wanted a Po Boy. The door is on the side and upon opening I found a number of what seemed to be regulars around a bar. The bar takes up 75% of the space and this is obviously a local pub. I asked for a menu and asked customers what was the best Po Boy. They steered me to the fried catfish Po Boy. I ordered and asked for water. I felt completely welcome and noticed the banter of the patrons. The restaurant has wifi and the bartender came over to personally give me the passcode. Good service! The Po Boy came with fries and I cut it in half. It was very warm, usually a good sign, but had almost no taste whatsoever. I had to splash hot sauce on the patty to get any flavor at all. I tried it again and I had difficulty tasting the hot sauce. The catfish must have also craved the spices. Bottom line: friendly local bar good for drinking but I would choose another menu item. I might attend if I lived closer but . . . I don't.

Yelp
Came to watch the end of the Stars game and picked a table in the corner since the bar was pretty full. Maddie did a great job looking after me. Never had an empty beer bottle. Add for food, i had the uptown chicken. It was spot on. I didn't want the shrimp etouffee and swapping it out was no problem. Food was hot and seemed fresh. Over all, excellent service, great food. Looking forward to coming back and trying some offer items.

Yelp
Recently went while my sister was in town and I'll say that the staff were extremely friendly, the prices were fair but the seasoning is lacking. We ordered a dozen oysters and a pound of crawfish. The crawfish were lacking flavor that we asked for seasoning but the thing about crawfish is the seasoning takes place during the soak so it's not like you can sprinkle a little flavor onto them to make them better. Also not a fan that corn and taters don't come with the crawfish but that's just me. I'd come back and eat an oyster and sit on the patio should I come back but there are so many places you can get this that this shouldn't be an issue.

Michael E.

Yelp
Gumbo worst ever Like dish soap water with corn starch and 6small shrimp Service good Should not be allowed to serve in a "Cajun " restaurant

Caitlin W.

Yelp
I placed a pickup order and although the food was hot when we got home it was DISGUSTING. I paid $72 dollars for 2 orders of the seafood hush puppies, 2 orders of the chicken and sausage gumbo and 2 orders of the Shucks fried catfish with fries and red beans n rice. The catfish is definitely swai or tilapia. The breading wasn't crispy and it was sweet, it was honestly just gross. The fries were undercooked and unseasoned. The regular hush puppies were extremely dry and the seafood ones just didn't taste good and they had no cornbread in them. They might as well just call them fried seafood balls. The gumbo was nasty and bland. First and last time trying them. Nobody even ate but a few bites of their food. $72 down the drain and I'm still hungry. I literally felt sick eating this because of the taste.
google avatar

Cristal S.

Yelp
The food ALL tasted like dirt. The shrimp, catfish and fried pickles. Red Beans and rice were so plain. No flavor at all. Literally some boiled red beans and white rice. Couldn't even stomach to finish our plates.

Giorno G.

Yelp
Food was awful they somehow messed up a sprite of all things waiter was nice and helpful at least quesadillas were decent that's all they had going for themselves and no refunds so watch what you order

ScottandLisa V.

Yelp
Went Sunday for lunch. Not crowded. Not smoky as some reviews say. Great service. Had the blackened chicken Cajun Alfredo pasta, so good!
google avatar

Keyanna V.

Yelp
Seasoning is on the outside. Not much flavor unless you suck it off the outside. Crawfish were big though. - Louisiana native

Yelp
Amazing food amazing service gorgeous day on the patio cannot say enough about this place. Absolutely you must try it and they serve a mean drink. Way to go Shuck m Jive keep up the excellent work

Yelp
I went to this establishment last Tuesday for dinner with my boyfriend. We ordered two fried catfish and shrimp platters. The shrimp was over cooked and hard. The catfish breading fell off and was slimey on the inside. The beat part were the French fries. The service was at best sub in par. Your server with the long red wavy hair went to go smoke weed behind the building while I waited for a refill. She had a terrible attitude and was loud and cursing at other customers. I believe I heard her say someone had to pay her to sit outside since they came from the bar. I don't know what kind of establishment you guys run but I will never be back. We enjoyed the vibe but the service was horrible and the server has a bad attitude and is aggressive.

Bill B.

Yelp
Food is probably good but couldn't get through smoke filled atmosphere. Left and management basically said see you later we don't need you so guess what my money is spent elsewhere as well as my comments to anyone else asks about this place. Had manager not been so flippant might have different attitude.

Yelp
Recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Y'all idk who makes the burgers but I've been addicted every since I had one lol

Yelp
I got the gumbo. And it's just OK. I feel like the flavor needs some salt or something and the rice was completely wrong.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood spot for good food and great spirits. Cold drinks and crispy cat fish nuggets. Kelsey is an amazing mixologist.

Yelp
I sampled. Cajun Carnival. $15 I believe. Red beans and rice Shrimp étouffée Cajun Alfredo pasta Gumbo Jambalaya I had to use a lot of the seasoning provided on the table. Gumbo was my favorite of the 5. Followed by the Cajun Alfredo pasta. Then jambalaya, shrimp étouffée, and red beans and rice (bland). I would order something different next time. I just wanted to try all of them. It's a little crowded on the inside at this SNJ. Bathroom was hot. Staff friendly. PETS are allowed outdoors. I saw a couple of dogs. Live music on Fridays. Open mic and karaoke on certain days! I'll be back. Prob order some pasta this time

Yelp
This is one of those places that you are surprised and super stoked at the end of the day by not judging the book by its cover. It's dive'ish, got that old bar smell (yeah, someone commented in the smell in a previous comment...it's there but not that bad, come on now, it's not a 5 star place, it's dive bar'ish). Wholly $h!t, good WiFi signal, good enough for remote laptop work, great service from the 3 bar tenders on duty...on a Monday night, during a crazy rain storm...with no major games on, great selection of booze (they have TX whiskey...some high end joints don't even have TX), and the food...excellent. Here something that's called the delicious carnival. A sampler of all their top selling Cajun dishes. 2 thumbs up, great job guys and gals! First time, definitely not the last time.

Yelp
Service is wonderful, food not the hype. I'm very disappointed that this place calls itself an oyster bar. They only have fried or raw oysters. I asked if they could grill them or add anything to them and they said no. Everything they have to offer is fried and I'm a firm believer that good seafood should not be fried! I will say the shrimp and crab hush puppies were pretty good and the sauce that came with it was light and flavorful. But that was the ONLY thing with flavor. Their crawfish tasted like water. They did not boil them in any season whatsoever. The jambalaya was dry and very bland. I've never had seafood that taste like absolutely nothing. Will never be back and I'm currently trying to send my jambalaya back I cannot eat it.

Yelp
I don't know if this location was ever thriving. For my 1st ever visit at 10pm Tues we were apparently sitting near a bathroom. I could smell the old pipes. The 'top shelf' margarita (with Don Julio for $4 extra) tastes like water with a teaspoon of margarita mix powder in it. I heard the next customer order the same plus Grand Marnier topper, as if that was needed for the taste. Our server was Erin and she appeared to be the only server inside and outside. I ordered blackened chicken with old favorite tots. The tots were excellent and freshly fried but the chicken was very apparently precooked the dredged in the blackening spices but never refired. Plus I have no silverware to try to cut it with had I wanted to eat it. The dog got it. I was told the seafood hush puppies were pretty bad too. We shall never be back to this location.

Yelp
I recently presented a review of this business. I went back because the first experience was insanely good. Second time there, absolutely no one from the staff seemed to give a rat's xxx if anyone was there. Waited 10 minutes to be noticed by a server. Left without a word from a single employee. Said hello to several regulars, but nothing from the business. Very sad. I can now understand the other reviews. Bye.
google avatar

Yelp
Never again!!!! Overcooked frozen flat shrimp! Never knew flat shrimp existed! Undercooked, under seasoned and cold fish. Stale fries......get the picture? Don't eat here The atmosphere is cool, friendly staff, ok drinks and that's about it.

Yelp
Bummed out this place had lost its mojo. We recently moved back to the area and this was one of my faves so I was excited to go. It was no good all around. It was dirty and smelled sour inside. I wanted to believe it was just stale beer, but that smell really made it difficult to hang. The workers were not professional. It all felt off. My husband got the catfish and I could smell the oil needed changing when it came out. I got the Cajun Carnival, which was a sampling of failure in every bowl. Sour, bland, and tasted like it all came from plastic bags. Totally disappointed. Should have gone to Bucky Moonshines.

Yelp
Best queso in town. We ate two bowls of question. They gave us plenty of chips and they don't charge you if you want more. Our drinks we great. The boiled shrimp were awesome. Support local. We haven't visited shuck n jive since college.

Yelp
I stopped in with some friends from Austin and the husband for dinner one Saturday evening. Plucker's was running an hour wait, so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered a half dozen on the half shell, I got a pound of crab, the husband and a friend both got the Shrimp and Catfish Combo, and the sister-in-law ordered the chicken fried steak. Service was on point; responsive without being intrusive. The oysters were plump and surprisingly firm for Gulf oysters - a pleasant surprise given my previously lackluster experience with them. The crab came out very lightly coated with their in-house Cajun seasoning and a cup of melted butter. The crab clusters (of which there were two) were about a pound each, but the smaller legs and the claws had meat that was a little chewy. I'm not sure if that means they're over-cooked or what, but on a whole it was some darn good crab for $19.95. The hubby was very pleased with his combo, as was I when I sampled his shrimp. Lightly breaded with good flavor, and the shrimp inside firm and sweet without being chewy. The chicken fried steak was the size of an adult's head and sister-in-law reported that it was "quite good." None of the other three were able to eat all the food included with their combos. Overall, we were very pleased. The crab could have been a touch better, but it was still quite good, and everything else was quite good as well. I have even been given Official Husbandly Approval to add Shuck-n Jive to our regular restaurant rotation. Definitely a spot I'd recommend when you're in the mood for Cajun or seafood!

Yelp
WOW! I rarely just chuck food in the garbage, but I'm living by new rules. Bad food can cause depression. I ordered fried shrimp and catfish and the crawfish roll. I think maybe the grease may be burnt, since the fish and shrimp had that burnt taste. The crawfish roll was soggy. EVERYTHING was bland. I don't think I have EVER had bland tartar sauce before. Actually this is a relief: I now know that I will never stop there again, so it saves me a lot of time.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Friday night for a friend's patio jam. Front parking was pretty packed, just know there is parking behind the building as well. The patio was nicely crowded but we were able to find several seats. There were two waitress buzzing around, evidently only one was ours but I just grabbed the first one passing bc I never figured out who ours actually was. There were a lot of drinks flowing. I decided to get a burger and fries since it was late and I hadn't eaten. The burger was very good, the bun was kinda dried out and the fries were ok. It took a few times to get the catsup and papertowels but it was all good. Enjoyed sitting in the middle of all traffic and other business on a patio and enjoying a great night of a patio jam. Happy to go out and support my friend at this venue.

Yelp
This was the worst seafood I have EVER had. Please save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else. Food had seasoning just laying on top. No flavor. Potatoes were hard! So bad smh. My boyfriend is from New Orleans and knew it was trash when I got in the car with the bag because of the smell of it
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Understand that this is 5 stars because of what this place is...It is a hole in the wall, local watering hole. This isn't some white linen table-side service place. Its a place that has regulars that have come for years upon years. If you are looking for a great bartender and a kitchen that knows how to whip out its fried food than this is where its at! The conversations you will have around the bar and new friends you will make is what I'm sure brings the regulars back on a continuous basis. There is ample seating especially in the covered patio area and a wrap around bar with TV's. Give it a try and you Best get some shrimp!

madison M.

Yelp
The worst restaurant you will ever go to. There was a piece of hair in my food and I didn't even eat after that the manager did not even wanna remake me anything else. They was very rude in there they kept calling me Mexican they was very racist. They deserve to be shut down. And I also seen a rat crawling. Inside. And the whole bar area smells like sewer. It smelled like a shit toilet I would not go. If I was you save your money and go to aw shucks that is the best seafood place here. Do not go there. I was so means
google avatar

Tonya S.

Yelp
ummmm I dont know , I order the fried shrimp basket which the shrimp was definitely over cooked, and more fried than shrimp. the outside area was ok until someone gets to smoking but I get it , its outside. The waitresses were really nice. I may try it again
google avatar

Richard A.

Yelp
First and last time going to this restaurant. Place is a hole in the wall, but those usually have great drinks or food still. Boy was I wrong. Ordered wings and they taste like they were freezer burnt. Ordered a Jive Margarita and it wasn't anything to jive about. They had to make a different drink because it was awful. The second drink was no better unfortunately. The Shrimp Po' Boy was mediocre. I hate that I got to the end to realize that there was a roach in my food. They took the food off the tab. The server was really nice and understanding. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
google avatar

Dalila H.

Yelp
Customer service goes a very long way. I was picking up an order for Uber eats and the bar staff tells me that the iPad where they their orders from is dead (she tells me she's going to charge it) ok no problem, I'm guessing the bar staff switched and I was asked by another man what the order is, he now tells me that the iPad is down and that he has to place the order manually. The orders we get from Uber are not super specific and I can only give so much detail, the bartender seems to have an really bad attitude and I state that I will just cancel the order. I call Uber eats support to see if they are able to assist the restaurant in placing the order but the operator informed me that the restaurant hung up on her twice and she was not able to verify any information with them. I'm not sure what the issue is the restaurant was not near busy or full. So be weary when ordering from this location your order may have to be canceled.

Yelp
I brought my brothers new fiance here to celebrate their proposal last night. Nothing huge, just us before the big events. I bought her her first baby doll ever as her first of many wedding gifts to come. Just something to give her between us because her family is a bit more conservative and I wouldn't be able To give her that later. (Her father is a pastor) Well on the way out she went to the bathroom to wash her hands and when she put her bags down she dropped it. I called up there maybe fifteen minutes after we all left (because she was too embarrassed. Even though she DID NOT TRY IT ON!) The bartender said it was Indeed there but wouldn't hold it under my name and hung up. I called again and asked him not to hang up on me and that I would be there in 10 mins and asked him kindly to hold it under my name and explained the entire situation. My brother and I got there and he said it wasn't there. Then I called from the car and a woman answered and told me. That next time not to bring lingerie to a bar! I told her I brought it in a gift bag as an engagement gift for my brothers new finance wrapped in a bag and it wasn't even tried on! She said she didn't care. I told her that was bad service and again she said that SHE DIDN'T CARE! THAT'S 2 RUDE STAFF MEMBERS NOW! WELL I'VE BEEN COMING HERE FOR YEARS AND I TOO AM IN THE INDUSTRY AND IF ANYONE INCLUDING MYSELF SPOKE TO A GUEST LIKE THAT WE WOULD BE FIRED ON THE SPOT! WHAT A NASTY STAFF WHO IS UGLY AND MISERABLE! AND THEY MISHANDLED A NICE AND EXPENSIVE GIFT AND THEN SHAMED US! WE WILL. NEVER CHOOSE SHUCK TO. CELEBRATE AGAIN AND ON A MORE. CRITICAL NOTE THE STAFF DIDN'T. WEAR MASKS, NO ONE SAT WITH A DISTANCE AND PEOPLE WERE COUGHING WHICH IS WHY WE SAT OUTSIDE! SO IT'S Awful SERVICE AND A COVID SUPER SPREADER! I'LL MAKE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD (BUT NOT THE VIRUS!)

Mikey S.

Yelp
Not the best food ever... just know the drinks taste better than the food. Bland and nothing to go for. Need a new cook or something.

Yelp
Probably one of the most worst burgers I ate in 2019 , service was great but the food is garbage . Will never go back again , waste of money and time
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
The Cajun dishes come without much seasoning but they provide that on the side to taste. It's a dive bar with tons of regulars so you would want to go there more for affordable alcohol and the atmosphere than for an amazing culinary experience.

Yelp
Been coming here for years!!!!!! Not stopping anytime soon!!!! Amazing people and service, and the atmosphere is just terrific!!

Yelp
I felt SOOO stupid! I've been driving by this place, hungry, for years and never stopped in! I walked in and sat at the bar. The posters on the wall were showing New Orleans and Mardi Gras themes. The friendliness of the patrons and staff interacting with each other is always a good sign! A lot of regulars were coming in and the staff called them by name and knew what the regulars always order. I ordered a beer and the draft Bud Light was cold and there was a bit of ice on the side of the glass. COLD BEER. That is 2 thumbs and a belly up! The aromas coming from the kitchen made me very hungry so I ordered from a menu that had a lot of variety and not just seafood. I will obviously have to try more sometime. I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp combo. The food arrived before I was down half a beer and for me, well, that was quick! The aromas coming off of the gorgeous looking plate of fish, shrimp and fries made me realize I just found my new favorite place to get great catfish. The first bite of each confirmed it. The house seasoning is very tasty and not over powering. The shrimp batter was crisp and the shrimp tender and juicy with great shrimp flavor! No need to hide this in more seasoning or lemon! The Catfish was absolutely perfectly fried in a cornmeal based batter that was also crisp but yet allowed the full catfish flavor of the moist and flakey meat to come through. The fries were really tasty and had a good dusting of the house seasoning. The red beans and rice that came with it were pretty good. A regular off to my side was having a shrimp pasta and it looked very delicious (as well as healthy). The lighting and size of the U shaped bar allow all at the bar to interact. Some might call it cozy. I think it is the best bar design I've seen. It was like a board meeting with smiles and happiness! Amazing what a friendly place and cold beer can do. There is a covered/enclosed area off to the front of the place with more tables if you want a more private experience. A lot of the regulars were coming in to get their regular tables. This place is on my way home most nights. I think this may be the very best fried catfish in the region. You may find me here in the future!

Yelp
Yeah it's a bit gritty and no, it's not a large fancy place but I LOVE the people and the atmosphere of Shuck-n Jive! It's a fun, laid back bar with great food and drinks. Each time I've gone the live music artists have been really good and were very entertaining. It's a great place to go hangout with friends to catch up, listen to live music or just have drink and catch a game on one of the several TVs. I'm hooked on being somewhere 'where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came'! I'll definitely be back! ~Tina Michelle

Yelp
I love the authenticity of the place and karaoke night was phenomenal, food was okay for me considering I'm not really a big fan of cat fish. I need to give it another try and see if it was just my pallet that day or the food. I guess the main reason why I give it 1 star and it is because of the service. I guess our waitress wasn't too thrilled to work that night and wasn't very happy to see us maybe because we didn't order a drink? I don't really know what her deal was definitely needed some booze to keep her A game up. I wasn't really too thrilled that she took a shot of Jameson in front of us and other customers as if we were not there. others maybe okay with it but I wasn't... Because service was already bad to begin with, if you're drunk on the job your work performance is only gonna get worse. I will not go back again. Food is completely OVERPRICED! definitely not worth the money.

Yelp
So I honestly didn't get to enjoy my meal or drink because apparently it's okay for an unleashed and unmuzzled dog to be on the patio. I'm allergic to dogs and once it approached me I informed the owner that it needed to stay away. The waitresses appeared to know the customer and even ignored the dog but it's hard to ignore a roaming dog that does number one and two near you. It's all fun and games until a dog bites or attacks then the owner and restaurant are responsible. Bad business

Yelp
Welp. Girl in the pink plaid shirt with glasses just ruined this spot for my boyfriend and I tonight. We liked it here but don't plan on going back! We sat in the patio, ordered crawfish/drinks with her, another girl brought us the drinks & we added the kids catfish nuggets since we wanted to keep ordering crawfish & JUST wanted something small on the side... Plaid shirt girl comes out & asks "So what's the deal?" We were confused & didn't know why she was confronting us? She then says "y'all are wanting to order from the kids menu & that's only for children" LOL we decided on fries & after this it was so AWKWARD! Service sucked so bad! We had to ask for plates, didn't even bother ordering more crawfish, asked plaid shirt for the check, she told the other girl to bring it to us and sat down with some customers to chat! While we were waiting FOREVER for the check, I noticed plaid shirt allow 2 customers to bring in 2 little bottles of red wine to the patio from their car! Another customer brought them a glass from inside. They seemed to be regulars or all friends. Haha couldn't believe my eyes!!! Girl are you CRAZY? You're willing to lose the liquor license but don't wanna add a kids meal to someones order? Suggestions to owner: 1 - Add an age limit under kids menu 2 - Fire pink plaid shirt girl with glasses before TABC takes away your liquor license

Yelp
I've gone back and tried the Blackened Chicken Po Boy, that comes with a side salad, Shuck N Jive sauce and fries! It's more than delicious!!! I'll definitely go back to try more delicious menu items!

This is more a bar than a restaurant but it was late and they were open. Service was excellent--5 Stars. The food, however, was ok--2-3 stars. I had snow crab legs and one of the clusters (had 3 clusters) was poorly done--meat sticking to the shell. Hubby had the Cajun Carnival--a sampler of their 5 most popular meals--I wouldn't recommend it. The portions were huge. The fried pickles and fried mushrooms were great. The shrimp/crawfish hush puppies were the best. Blackened chicken and pasta was not too bad. Gumbo was ordinary, jambalaya just didn't cut it and red beans and rice seemed too overcooked. Seating was limited inside the establishment so we sat outside. They could use another outdoor heater for the size of the area. Other patrons were drinking and were too loud. One of the other customers had his dog on a leash with him so I assumed pets were allowed. Overall a satisfactory experience.

Yelp
We came here on Thanksgiving for their Thanksgiving Dinner but they were sold out by the time we arrived. No biggie, the game was coming on so we opted to just stay here, watch a little bit of the game and try out some of the proclaimed Cajun goodness they had to offer. The menu is a typical Cajun seafood menu, offering fresh, fried, grilled seafood, gumbo, jambalaya, etc. There wasn't anything spectacular about the menu - until I saw the 'world famous catfish.' Now, I love me some catfish, so I just had to check this out! Before the main event, Rod got us the sausage/boudin appetizer. VERY good, not the best boudin but very close. Unfortunately, that's where the goodness stopped. My catfish arrived and while it was a very large portion, the batter wasn't seasoned too well but it was also fried so hard that all I could taste was the charred portions of the batter and grease. It wasn't good at all. The best thing about my plate was the red beans and rice which were just okay. Wish I could write a better review as this place seems to be a very popular staple on Greenville Ave, but it just didn't hit the mark for me.

Yelp
The oysters are big, fresh and juicy, but the shrimp étouffée has a very thin and only lightly seasoned roux. I paid $30 but was still not full. Will not come back unless there's happy hour for oysters.

Yelp
Ate lunch here with friends today, a Friday. We ate on the patio - it seemed cramped and small inside. The place contains a GIGANTIC bar. We ordered appetizers: fried pickles, Cajun popcorn (fried crawdads), and oysters on a half shell. Everything was very good. I had the Louisiana Pasta Alfredo, which was scrumptious! My friends had Crawfish Etoufee and the Tilapia Louisian. Each friend raved about their decision enough for me to take a bite from both plates while they were flirting up the attractive waitress. We were at the restaurant just over an hour laughing outside. Our server was fast and playful. I'd say the the food and service were both solid, but not remarkable. We didn't order drinks as we all had to go back to work. My 1/3 of the bill came to $18.35. I will definitely have lunch here again.
