Shucker's Oyster Bar & Grill

This restaurant is truly incredible! Our fishing charter captain from AC Charters recommended it, mentioning that they would cook our freshly caught fish for a very small fee. George and his staff prepared it to perfection, taking great pride in the finished product . We even had enough to share with the staff since there was more than we could eat! Located right on the water, the restaurant offers stunning views that make the experience even better. Sadly, we’re heading out in a couple of days, but we’ll definitely be back the next time we visit beautiful Amelia Island!

Shuckers is a must-try! We visited on a Saturday night around 6:30, and while parking was a bit of a challenge on the side road, it was understandable given the time. We were seated outside immediately with live music, which created a great vibe. For our meals, my dad and I both got the combo. I opted for blackened oysters, fish nuggets, and shrimp, while he had the fried version. Everything was amazing, but the blackened oysters were the standout – even better than the fried! It's a shame you can only choose one style for the combo, as I would have loved a mix. Our sides included mac n cheese, sweet potato fries, cheese grits, and coleslaw. All were tasty, though my dad noted that the coleslaw was on the sweeter side, which might not be for everyone. Other members of our party enjoyed the fried shrimp, catch of the day (flounder) sandwich, apple feta salad, and gumbo, and everyone seemed very satisfied. The only downside was a bit of a wait for silverware (around 5 minutes), which meant our food started to cool down slightly. However, our server was clearly very busy and seemed to be working without much help, so it wasn't his fault. Overall, the delicious food and lively atmosphere more than made up for the minor issue. We'll definitely be back!

We loved it here! The views are incredible, there was even live music. Our server was Julieta, and she was fantastic and so friendly and helpful. Very attentive and checked in often. We got raw oysters, crab legs, peel and eat shrimp, hush puppies, mashed potatoes, fried okra and key lime pie. Every single thing we ate tasted amazing. I love oysters, but these ones were certainly the best. Generally, I do not like shrimp, but I tried these and I have changed my mind. We almost ordered more! I’m not for sure, but all around the restaurant there are oyster beds. I’d assume that’s where they harvest, which is pretty cool.

For the seafood lovers of the region who want a relaxing and delicious meal you simply need to make time to enjoy Shuckers! My travels led me to the area and I had always wanted to visit but this time I did. The first contact was with a beautiful lady who greeted me with a smile and allowed me to pick a seat. I chose outside in the shade with an amazing view of the water. It was low tide so you could see the oyster beds. It’s gorgeous here. Then Rob began by welcoming me to his place and telling me of the special of the day but as great as it sounded, I had OYSTER on my mind. Lol. He quickly brought me to the pinochle of my journey with a dozen raw chilled fresh large oysters 🦪. Followed by a Mango Daiquiri. Awesome! As I was leaving town I unfortunately couldn’t really get out of hand with the food so I ordered the Poke bowl and two dozen to go. I was the Hero when I got home and my wife who loves oysters like me enjoyed the treasures from the sea. She’s also part mermaid 🧜‍♀️ so I had that going for me Big shout out to my buddy Rob and the whole crew for a great lunch and super memorable day. We will be back soon! Arrrgggg😉🏴‍☠️

I had an amazing experience at Shucker’s. The waterfront views were absolutely stunning, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing meal. The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend the fresh local fried shrimp 🍤 and oysters. The service was top-notch as well; our server Megan was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner, a family outing, or just a great spot to enjoy delicious seafood, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!

Drove by on our first night in Amelia Island, looked it up - saw good reviews and went to dinner. There is a deck with a separate bar and tables and also tables inside. The room is spacious. Our server, Dillon was pleasant and there when you needed him. The house oysters were terrific as was the gumbo. My partner had the grouper Amelia which was good - a 4 out of 5, I had the Seared Ahi Tuna BLT which was OUTSTANDING. One of the better sandwiches I have ever experienced. The piece of tuna was seared perfectly and ginormous. Two people could split and app and this sandwich. We would return and do just that!!

Was a great dinning experience! Best we have had the whole weekend! The live music was great service was on point even with how busy it was. The temperature was cooler the evening but so glad we decided to set outside. The view was fantastic.

Yum! Oysters, shrimp, crab cakes galore! Go here for a taste of delicious seafood at Fernandina Beach! Service was top notch and the ambiance is casual, family-friendly and lively! We came for dinner and the place was pretty busy with patrons sitting both inside and outside, enjoying the live music on the back patio. The view was really cute outside and there was even an area for kids to play. The seafood we had was fresh and delicious! From the steamed oysters and blackened local shrimp, to the crab cake sandwich and pasta. The sides were on point too. I recommend the fried okra and their colossal fries! They give large servings and everything is seasoned perfectly. Our server was friendly and accommodating. Even the owner stopped by our table, walking around making sure everyone was enjoying their meals and experience. Love to see that! I’m coming back soon to try more from their menu!

The food, including the appetizers, is excellent! We tend to get a bucket of oysters, which are steamed in the shell or raw. Either way, you have to shuck them yourself at the table. (No problem.) You get more than you pay for. The peel-and-eat shrimp are always fresh and large. All of the appetizer dips are great. We can't say enough about the service; they are efficient and a joy. They even laugh at my "dad" Jokes! Much to the embarrassment of my wife and daughter. They have draught beer, a plus; the mixed drinks are spot on. We always love catching the sunset on the patio, but the inside is also lovely. Open and not cramped at all, even when they are super busy!

- Food & Atmosphere are excellent! There is an outdoor play area for children, and the location is clean and very well kept. - Service stinks!! We got seated quickly, but refills were nonexistent. Additionally, after ordering, only half of the food came out. The waitress couldn't track it down, but 30 minutes later (after everyone else had already eaten), the remaining 2 meals finally came. A disappointment for sure. This is a great location with excellent food. The only downfall is the service.

Located in a very nice location on the marsh. Offers inside and outside seating with cool live music vibes. The staff was very friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server Jessie was phenomenal! She is the reason this post is decently worded. The food was "ok". Our first round of okra was not hot but staff quickly replaced them with hot okra. I had the blooming onion as an appetizer which was slightly undercooked in the middle causing the batter to be doughy but the exterior that was cooked properly was good. The fish fingers was good to go but the Mac n cheese was not so great. It was very store bought cheesy. The Parmesan garlic oysters were just ok. The drinks that we had were actually really good and would recommend again!

We just dropped in for a drink. It was a chilly 65 so we opted for the bar. The tap area has a beautiful mermaid. Honestly I have never seen such a disgruntled staff. The bartender was inattentive and choose to talk smack about other teammates. Although we did not order good. It seemed more was being sent back than was coming out. A kid was going table to table with a folded piece of paper asking for donations. So weird. I think this will be my last visit to Shuckers for a while!

Stopped in on our way to Amelia island for a little weekend staycation(ish), we live in Jax. Such a beautiful day and beautiful outdoor seating that backs right up to the water. Of course we had to order oysters and opted for the Parmesan garlic oysters. They were fresh and delicious! My husband and I shared a bowl of chowder, a wrap and a salad and everything was so good. Our server was Jessie and she was attentive, sweet and very accommodating. Would recommend!

We eat here every time we come to Amelia. I always get the fish tacos and my husband gets the fried shrimp. We love the outside view and the entertainment is usually pretty good. The mixed drinks are heavily lacking.

The food the service and the ambience were all above standard. The food was well prepared and good portions served promptly and the service was superior with a waterfront ambience that gave you several options of either inside seating or outside by the water.

These were some of the best oysters I've had in Jacksonville. The service was so nice and was very quick with my order. Will be going back!

The best view of Amelia River from a restaurant with equally good food and service! You have your choice of indoor and outdoor seating, both are nice. From Gator Tail to Wings to Fish Nuggets and Key Lime pie, you can't go wrong. Full bar and still family friendly. I've taken family, friends and coworkers to Shucker's as a hometown favorite. Locally owned and operated, by a wonderful lady who is obsessed with customer service and ensures her staff is too, you won't be disappointed at Shucker's Oyster Bar!

We stopped by Shuckers today on a whim. We were reluctant based on the yelp ratings but I'm so glad we went. We sat on the patio by the water. It's such a pretty setting and the kids loved the playground. Our server was so friendly and attentive! I ordered the tuna nachos. It was basically an entire tuna steak over won tons and seaweed salad! Absolutely delish! My husband ordered the fried shrimp and really enjoyed it as well. We will definitely return when we are in the area!

The staff are friendly and courteous. The food is great; the grilled chicken for the caesar salad is nicely done and there's bacon in it! The view, is really incredible. A cold beer and a seat looking out across the intercoastal marsh is a real treat.

I am a huge huge fan of oysters but this place just didn't do it for me when it came to my satisfaction. We only ended up getting appetizers so I can't really speak on the whole experience, but for the appetizers the best one was fried green tomatoes however leave the cheese off as a recommendation. Service was good, food came out pretty quickly . Overall I can't say if I would or wouldn't return because I'm not from Jacksonville but might one day give it another try for the full course.

I've had shuckers many times. I'm not a seafood girl so I can only appreciate their food as decent because their none sea food offerings are nothing to write home about. However - my step mom raves about their blackened fish sandwich. My husband had a seafood platter - he picked grouper fingers, fried shrimp and deviled crab and loved it all. My dad had the grouper Amelia which he said was outstanding. The child's grilled cheese was gross. Their French fries are very good there. The atmosphere outside is what's worth it though. Beautiful views. My dad and step mom go often as they live there, but we visit shuckers every time we're down from CT.

Great beach atmosphere. Food is good live entertainment is great. They pour strong drinks, but don't ask for a dirty martini.

I was greeted at the resteraunt with a sigh when I said we had a party of 7. This was an hour before the resteraunt closed. The hostess the said the whole serving team was very "agitated" tonight. I was told that they were out of everything if I wanted to stay, but then the same server said "we have all seafood except crab legs." I immediately called another restaurant and left. This was the most inhospitable place I have ever been to! Ambiance seemed amazing next to the water, but I couldn't even enjoy it. I want to give this ZERO stars, yelp requires I click one.

Excellent service and most local true Floridians will tell you this is a really nice gem with outstanding quality sea food. My wife loves their oysters and crab boil. I personally enjoyed their various fish whether grilled or fries. Great atmosphere and live music. Definitely a local jewel

From the road it's very deceiving. When you walk in you'd be surprised how big it is inside. Then you walk out back to an outdoor bar with seating and lots of tables. There is corn hole, a ping pong table and swings for the children. My 1st experience here was awesome, great service , great food and overall good vibes. My pics are from this visit. My 2nd time here didn't go as well. My friend and I decided to sit at the outside bar. We ordered our draft beers and our food . I ordered the chicken buffalo wrap and my friend ordered the cheesesteak sandwich. Overall it took 2 hours for the food to come out. The same thing was happening to those around us. Something with the internet , who knows ‍ The female bartender insisted on telling us her best friend is the manager but ... the manager didn't make an appearance to offer an apology for the inconvenience so that didn't sit well with us. Will we go back? Of course! It's an amazing atmosphere so why spite myself

I spoke with Shuckers manager, Tina , several weeks ago & was able to make a reservation for 5/25/24 for a party of 25 as birthday celebration for my sister! I am thrilled that I was successful at obtaining the reservation, simply because there are not many restaurants that will even allow reservations at all! This is crucial when planning a large party event & guests are traveling from an hour away! So HUGE thank you to Tina & her staff for their polite service! Everyone had a great time! Food & service were great! Thank you so much!! Me & my sisters were born in Fernandina & still live in Nassau County so we will be seeing ya'll again soon! Angela Davidson

We were excited to try this restaurant because it's usually crowded and has a nice view. That's the best part. Our party of 6 arrived before 6pm and they seemed to have lots of empty tables but had trouble seating us for a while. The food arrived on time but was mediocre and the drinks were weak. We go out to eat a lot but the bill seemed high for what we got. Not much value for the money.

This will be my last time here. Same issues every time. Long long wait times on food. Waited 50 minutes. Arrived at 4pm so it's not busy. Our poor waitress was so apologetic and offered a comp on the beer and free desert to take home. And DO NOT get the Poke bowl. The worst meal I've had. All the vegetables were just thrown on there with no no seasoning or flavor just slice them and throw them in the bowl. The Ahi tuna was bland. I needed to salt it for flavor. There was a thin layer of rice, hardly anything in the bowl. The best thing in this bowl was the seaweed salad. Unfortunately this will be the last time I darken the doors here. Take this flavorless afterthought off your menu!

Atmosphere is incomparable. Service was decent. We LOVED our appetizers of crab dip, fried gator tail (some of the best I've ever had outside of Charleston), and fried pickles. Bang bang shrimp was good. Burger was good. My fish tacos were good but too sweet. Leave off the yellow sauce and these would be bangin'. Sweet potato fries are decent. Green beans are great. Regular fries are good.

Waitresses are extremely busy and friendly enough. Mahi mahi was tough, dry and did not have a good taste. Sweet potato fries were very good but did not have cinnamon butter. Tables inside and outside. Clean and pleasant atmosphere.

I don't know where to begin. Absolutely horrific experience. Are their employees working for free? We arrived at 9pm when they have a closing time of 10pm and we seemed to be a complete annoyance to them from the moment we walked in. The host audibly signed when we walked in and said the servers are going to be really agitated with us. They took us to our table and he repeatedly said they were all going to be really annoyed we are there. Then, the host told us they were out of everything on the menu. While we were being walked to our table, the waitresses were shouting at us that they were out of everything. We ended up leaving within 5 minutes of being seated. Will not return to this absolute joke of a restaurant.

We've always enjoyed the "new Shuckers". Beautiful view and atmosphere. Enjoyed the oysters even more than our standard fave. The tuna nachos deliver on every point.

Another great visit to Shucker's! Despite it being a cool day, the sun was shining and we enjoyed our lunch outside. Delicious food, beautiful view and very friendly service!

They have the best, freshest oysters in JAX metro. Variety, quality, and service is consistently good.

Aug 7, 2022 My hubby wanted steamed oysters so we decide to come here after the beach and a shower! Good choice! Beer was good and cold, the fried shrimp was big and sweet and oysters were huge! Perfect lunch! Oh yeah the service was attentive and friendly.

My parents are obsessed with this place but the menu just isn't really for me. I do enjoy their salads a lot. The crab was alright. The giant pretzel is good. My favorite part of this restaurant, and why I keep going back, is the environment. The kids playground, the giant stage, the water views. It's all amazing. I just wish I could have seen the cat that lives there already. Fingers crossed I will soon!

Nice place. Clean, wait staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was at best a 4 out of 10. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it seriously looked like a child's plate. For almost $20 there is no reason why the portion size should be that small. We've had calamari at many different restaurants and were shocked at how small the portion size was--and it was subpar at best. Half of the plate was crispy fried banana peppers. We didn't order peppers...we ordered squid. I would bet there are better places for food on the Island. Would not recommend.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch today. I had Ahi Tuna salad and husband had loaded chicken nachos. Both incredible! Restaurant is beautiful and the view is amazing. Will definitely be coming back.

Located right before you take the bridge onto Amelia Island, with a beautiful view of the marshes. Calamari is excellent. A fun, casual little stop that wasn't busy for us.

This review is only for drinks and ambiance. We didn't get to order food, but sat outside with our pups while enjoying the sunset. Service was great, easy parking, pet friendly and an amazing view. Everything we were looking for.

This place is nasty , not worth the money & would never go back. My Crab legs were freezing cold & Philly cheese steak sandwich tasted like shrimp... highly do not recommend !!

Atmosphere was the only nice thing about this place. We're told to sit wherever we liked so we sat where people were passing us allot and no one talked to us for about 15-20 minutes so I had to grab someone. I ordered grouper for 26$ thinking I was gonna get grouper but no it definitely was not grouper it was some type of white fish mushy soft and no flavor so disappointed to be lied to like we're in Florida bro we know what grouper taste like. Oysters are so over priced and just ok. We will not be back that's for sure.

Great view of the water and marsh, which automatically lowers the blood pressure. Little kids looked like they had a great time playing on the playground outside. I enjoyed my seafood combo of grilled shrimp, grilled fish, and deviled crab. My wife liked her Philly cheesesteak, and my mom had the combo with fried shrimp, fried oysters, and fried fish. She has been there several times and recommended it to us. Service was fast and attentive.

Food, atmosphere & service was 5*****. Our waiter, Dylan, went out of his way to make our time amazing. He apologized for delay in food, bit it was worth the wait. There were 10 in our party & everyone just appreciated Dylan's genuine heart to serve us & keep us posted on food. Now, one of our new favorite places. Shucker's was our last stop as our vacation to Amelia Island came to an end. It was raining out but my party wanted to sit outside. They had a covered patio and there were other diners sitting outside, it was a pretty nice view of the water and scenery. We placed our orders and received our drinks. Then the lightning and thunder came...so we moved ourselves inside to a table. The service was bad, our waitress was very disinterested in serving our table. She acted very bothered by fulfilling basic tasks of her job. We each ordered the grilled oysters platters and instead they brought out the fried oysters platters. We were confused, they didn't know what they're doing at all. We finally received our correct order and the food was similar to Captain D's. Average at best. Would not recommend.

So I have mixed feelings about this establishment. It was my first visit. I loved the ambiance. It was clean and welcoming on the inside and the live music and outdoor ocean vibes was super enjoyable. We were able to be seated right away on a Saturday night, but there was a decent crowd. Our waitress was super sweet and the speed of service was perfect. Waited a bit for the checks at the end and she never checked on us once our meal arrived and we were actually missing a side, that we didn't notice until the end of our meal. Sad face on those two fronts. Now onto the food. I had the fish wrap, ordered it with blackened mahi which was a bit of an up charge that wasn't disclosed prior but I enjoyed it very much. I had the green beans as a side. They were mediocre at best. My husband had the grouper Amelia and also, like the green beans felt the meal lacked flavor overall. The fried okra as a side never came so can't comment on it. The hush puppies were tasty IMO. The drinks (Tropicolada and Mudslide) tasted like straight up ice ... they were nice to look at. Maybe it was an off night for the bartender. The oysters thankfully were the star of the night. We ordered the trio and devoured them! So good! All in all I'd give them another shot. Seemed good for groups and I was generally satisfied with my meal and felt prices were reasonable for fresh seafood. If the drinks had been good I might've given them four stars.

Shuckers is a great place to come for a sweet view and somewhere the kids can play. They have a playground, climbing area, cornhole and ping pong! They also have outside lounge chairs by the water if you just want to have a drink. Our server tonight was so sweet! She checked on us multiple times. The ice water here is very sulfary so beware. I bring my own water bottle. The food...is good..depending what you get.. -avoid the mac and cheese and baked potato. the mac tastes like bagged cheese and the baked potato is overcooked and tastes off. -fish of the day was awesome (we got mahi mahi blackened and fried and both were yummy) -LOVE the hushpuppies -good french fries -baked oysters are decent Just a heads up, the green beans have pork in them

It was just...Eh. The scenery was nice, the mosquitos were not. The food was just okay, nothing great. We ordered some oysters, which were alright, and pretty standard. The fried green tomatoes were fine, could've been better. Cole slaw wasn't fresh and smelled weird. Hush puppies are a seafood restaurant staple and these were just a disappointment. No flavor at all. Again, this place was just okay, not great. They were busy so I guess lots of people liked it, but next time we will go somewhere else. 3 stars because the staff was very nice.

This place is amazing! All the food was great. Friendly service. View was so beautiful outside. We set outside. Even though it was windy, it was still gorgeous to sit outside there. Gator tail bites- the best and softest gator tail we ever had. The only odd thing was they only had one kind of oyster and waiter didn't even know name of the oyster. Considering their name is oyster bar, I would expect more from oyster section. But Grouper we ordered was also super delicious so can't complain. Highly recommend the place. Must sit outside for the view.

We really enjoyed our lunch at shuckers oyster bar! I had a side salad! It was great! I had the fried shrimp it was the best fried shrimp I have ever had! The fries where delicious and the fried okra was great! I would deff eat here again and recommend it to all my friends and family! Beautiful large patio area water view and play place for kids!

Just had dinner 4 of us..was awesome..fried green tomatoes..yes..crab dip was terrific..brother in law had flounder..very good..fish tacos very good..boom boom shrimp excellent..grilled shrimp ..very good..sides of m ac and cheese Cole slaw .baked potato..very good...beers cold..service very good..prices are so fair for what we get..thank you....crazy not to have dinner here..thank you

It's just a dressed up greasy spoon and if you're looking for fine dining that's just a few miles down the road at the Ritz; literally not even 4 miles to the Ritz. Locally sourced seafood fried is the go to so pardon the pun "don't rock the boat". If you want good food and nice folks serving you this is a good place to go to. It is my go to for lunches and hasn't failed me yet. Nothing fancy which is what I'm looking for out of these fine folks. They've been here a while and they don't rest on their laurels they keep the standards good for food and the quality of their seafood.

We had fun while dining on some tasty food. The live entertainment was great. The oysters were sweet and full of flavor. The alligator tail was very good. Our server she was so kind and the lady of the house gave the place an extra class of charm. The atmosphere was full of laughter and what a beautiful surrounding. Thanks for making our vacation even better.

Worst service, never got my food and I was a party of 4. No baked potatoes and waited 30 minutes for drinks. Literally go anywhere else.

Food arrives quickly and is well prepared. Lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor, on the water. Sometimes the seafood may not necessarily be local but still a decent menu.
