With 4 of us dining we had quite a lot of food come to the table. With that being said, it was all wonderful especially the deep fried scallops. They were perfection on a plate. Order an extra serving of the jerk shrimp appetizer because once you taste them one order is not enough. The scampi pizza was amazing also. Along with the fried corn. The servers were courteous and very attentive. To be extremely busy refills came quickly as did each of the dishes we ordered. We will definitely be returning and recommending them to everyone we know

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maryanne was absolutely amazing! Her service was friendly, fast, and thoughtful from start to finish. She made us feel completely at home and checked in just the right amount without ever being overbearing. The food was great — especially the stuffed shells, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. Maryanne made the whole experience even better with her upbeat attitude and genuine care. If you go to Shuckers, ask for Maryanne — she’s the best!

If you have not tried Shuckers for brunch, you are truly missing out. We had the shrimp and grits, chicken & waffle pizza, the spicy blood mary and the caramel apple mimosa. Everything was beyong delicious!! This was our first time for brunch, but it DEFINITELY will not be our last.

Google
We came here for my birthday! Had never been but wanted something new. We enjoyed the food and drinks!! Only one thing that was found as big downfall. Online prices dont match menu prices and the bills were all over charged by varying amounts. All your prices should match if its charge what you wish or market price for seafood then state that. I would come back because I enjoyed my food but 1 person in our party will never return.

Google
A hidden gem, Shuckers, located in St. Albans,WV. They have an awesome surf and turf dinner. We were there for lunch. I got a cup of clam chowder and had the Crab stuffed mushrooms. Enjoyed them immensely. Hubby had the Slim Shady sub and bacon cheese fries. He said it reminded him of the Slim Jim sandwich from Shoneys. He always liked those sandwiches. Our waiter Matt was great. We used to go here a few times a month when we lived in St. Albans.

Google
This was disappointing. We loved the fried cod bites, and fried cod filet. The grilled shrimp was good as well as the baked potato and cole slaw. We didn't like the fries at all - soggy and made with a few bad potatoes. (if you are gonna serve fries made from fresh potatoes you have to double fry them and cut out the bad portions of the vegetable) The 31.00 scallops were very small and barely warm. The hush puppies were the size of grapes and under cooked and the fried corn was cooked way too long, making it chewy and unappetizing. The broiled cod was just ok. The worst - the raw oysters appear to have just been dumped in a bowl. We thought this was a mistake and asked the waitress who confirmed that is the way this restaurant serves them??? I did enjoy the blueberry ale, that was refreshing. Might try the other options and avoid the seafood the next time but it will be a while. The waitress was great - best service anywhere in a really long time.

Google
We’re from Maine and quite fussy about seafood. We were traveling through and found Shuckers because there wasn’t a parking space at the restaurant we had intended to go to. How lucky we were. We had the fried oysters at lunch which were so phenomenal we went back for more at dinner. The waitstaff was also phenomenal: friendly, courteous, helpful and efficient. Little wonder the locals love it.

Cory H.

Google
Food was super bland. Stuffed mushrooms was nothing but cream cheese, lobster bisque had no lobster, and corn on the cob wasn't even edible. Waiter didn't acknowledge any complaints so we were basically stuck with the bad food. $150 down the drain

Jaden C.

Yelp
Food was great!! Service was awesome! Mary Anne was our waitress and she was the best!

Yelp
Anniversary dinner was very tasty!! It is a little darker than I prefer, but the food was great and waitress was attentive. I wanted scallops, but they didn't have them so I got grilled Cajun shrimp. My hubby got broiled seafood platter. We also got stuffed mushrooms that were exceptionally delicious. Would definitely recommend this comfortable, laid back restaurant!!

Janet Z.

Yelp
Too crowded; better seafood elsewhere. My opinion must be in the minority; it is quite busy.

Mona K.

Yelp
Used to go here often, when previous owners ran it. Have gone a couple a times since then. Not the same. Gave them another try recently. Disappointing. Took FOREVER to get our entree -- pizza was hot but fries were room temp. Appetizer came quickly. Server was nice and apologetic. Fault was the kitchen. Place was clean.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! Shucker's shrooms are a must. It's laid back and easy eating. Great service and atmosphere. Homemade salad dressings are the best around, especially the ranch.

Yelp
Dropped in on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the special - filet with scallops for me and filet with shrimp for my hubby. Food was great and cooked how we ordered. The best part was the service. My husband and I had a long day and were thirsty. Our waiter was eagerly grabbing our refills of tea and Diet Pepsi before we even asked. Great service and wonderful food so we will definitely return. Thank you!

Lori Beth K.

Yelp
Surf & Turf night is special and any other night they have the New England clam chowder. The filet was a perfect medium and the scallops were the best I've had in I can't remember when! There's love in this dish, it's obvious the chef cares about what he/she is doing. If they were closer to my house I'd be fatter lol. Definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
Fettuccine Alfredo sauce looked like it come from a can... not worth the price for the quality

Thomas C.

Yelp
We were there for the Crawl-O-Ween event Saturday evening. Everything was great until a lady who had a drink in her hand and visibly drunk claiming to be the owner refused to let us back in.(for context I was the DD and completely sober) She stated the place was at capacity but was letting other people in. One member of our group tried to get back in so we could get the rest of our group and leave. When she entered the lady claiming to be the owner grabbed her and tried to pull her back outside. We all left and took our business elsewhere. After a little research and photos, she is either an owner or an employee. To the owner of this place. Don't stand at the door drunk and refuse to let people come into your bar. That's just bad business. No one was loud, obnoxious, or physical except for you.

Yelp
Fried Shrimp reminds me of Calabash style! It's one of my favorite things on their menu!! Stuffed mushrooms are to die for!
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and atmosphere, highly recommended. Great specials and service at the bar. Nice place to wind down with a few drinks and friends.

Valerie S.

Yelp
We had a party of 8 on a Friday evening . The wait staff was accommodating for table seating. Comfortable beach vibe decor & atmosphere; always relaxed-no push to hurry through the meal & check out. Everyone loved their food from the "specials" of grouper sandwich or dinner; cod sandwich, hamburger, tuna bites, pasta, Cajun shrimp, crab cake dinner. No complaints from any diner It was my personal 1st but definitely will go again when visiting my family there.
google avatar

Dawn E.

Yelp
Shucker's has a really tasty brunch, and they serve locally made maple syrup! The chicken and waffles are great. The wait staff is kind, and really bring the small town feel.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
I love Shucker's, I've never been disappointed in a meal or the service. The food is great, I love the stuffed mushrooms with the crabmeat.
google avatar

Parker C.

Yelp
Best Seafood in the Valley if not the state! Service always impeccable as ownership cares for you the customer. When busy wait times can rise because of the small size of the kitchen! Patience is a virtue and any wrongs ownership will right!! Love this place!!
google avatar

Carolyn O.

Yelp
This was one of my "go to" places to take guests and meet friends. 5 minutes from my house and always a good meal. The jerk shrimp is always really good. And this evening was no different. BUT. The cod dinner was just so sad. I've ordered it a bunch of times but tonight it was tough, old and obviously had been frozen too long. The breading was tasteless and the texture was rubbery. Really bummed out. Then we ordered a $7 cherry cobbler that the crust was completely raw and inedible. Except for the canned cherry filling. $48 later. The changing of the owners is not working out for me so far.
google avatar

Yelp
So ashamed of myself that I had not been here sooner. Seriously everything was amazing and you feel so welcomed. We will be regulars!!!

Yelp
To me this is the "Cheers!" of West Virginia! I like to go here with our church group because, "Everybody knows your name!" Paula the owner is a real sweetheart, and the service by her staff is first-rate. It's a fun friendly place, with one of the BEST burgers in all of Kanawha County! They have great salads and seafood, and Italian dishes, too. Simple, well-done comfort food! More than anything, we LAUGH here! It's so much fun to come here!

Yelp
I heard a lot of good things about this little joint, I have to say overall it was pretty decent. There is much room for improvement here. I'll start with positives. The portions were great, prices were great, and most of the food was good. Oysters were huge and had a great tasting breading and my steak was cooked perfect and very tender. Jerk shrimp was my favorite thing I had while there! Very similar to tidewater's recipe. First negative would be there presentation of the food.. we were served on this strangely childish plates / bowls. They were flimsy and didn't look too sanitary where they were plastic. The salad was just sad... iceberg lettuce mix that tasted like it had sat in the fridge for several days and gotten slimy. Drink selection was pretty poor. Service was pretty poor and often we had to remind the server to get a refill 2-3 times. Stuffed mushrooms were strange... they tasted like Walmart seafood salad stuffed into a mushroom, don't know how to feel about that. The wings were great! Overall our experience was pretty fair honestly, and I'll be back. I just wish they would improve the quality of their sides, dinging plates/bowls, and maybe adjust some of the food. If you want some pretty good seafood check it out! I hope they take some constructive criticism. :)

Yelp
Mediocre food. No raw oysters at a place called Shuckers, really? Service was okay. Not worth the price.

Yelp
Great place for fabulous bar food. We were there on a Friday night & were told 45 minute wait; however, it did not take that long. We had an incredible waitress: I mean: she knew her stuff and was very attentive. I had a poboy with fried oysters: fabulous. Others had steak: very good. Salmon: good. Fries: below average: limp, not great. Everyone is very nice and it's a fun place to go with groups or families. Recommend.

William R.

Yelp
Very good seafood and steaks. Owners Guy and Robin are very nice and welcoming. Staff is good although there does seem to be a bit of turnover, which does slightly affect the quality of service at times.
google avatar

Sherry H.

Yelp
Food and service are great! I've been here a few times and the food is always excellent and the service is friendly and very knowledgeable ab the menu. The ambiance however, has much to be desired. It's dark and smells extremely strongly of seafood... yes I know this is a seafood restaurant but, I've eaten at many seafood restaurants that don't smell yucky strongly . If they would spruce it up, I would eat here every week vs a few times per year.

Yelp
Shucker's has the best food in St. Albans. Stuffed mushrooms, tuna bites, jerk shrimp, all of it is just the best.
google avatar

Haley L.

Yelp
We ate at shuckers tonight for dinner, we ordered the grilled shrimp for an appetizer, it came quickly and was some of the best shrimp I've had in this area. My boyfriend ordered the PoBoy sandwich with shrimp, it was fresh and hot but the fries tasted like they had been sitting for a while. I ordered baked spaghetti and the sauce was watery and the garlic bread was cold. I thought that for what we ordered the price was a bit high.
google avatar

Yelp
The Fried Fish Sandwich was a nice size piece of white fish on good bread. The fresh cut fries were good, the onion rings not bad (but not as good as the fries). This place doesn't look like much from the outside (my wife was crinkling her face all the way from the parking lot in the back to the back door), but it's decent inside. Seafood themed, high ceilings, diner/bar kinda feel inside. Could be considered "divey" I suppose. The food was fresh and hot and fairly quick at lunch. The wife said it was "OK - felt like heat and eat food" which might not be far off since we both had sandwiches. I liked it for lunch, especially when trying to get off the beaten path.

Yelp
Recently visited Shuckers for the first time on a Saturday. We got there just a few minutes after it opened for the day ( at 4:00). I really didn't know what to expect, as it is certainly not a fancy establishment, and we were told to seat ourselves. Our server came over promptly and got our drinks, after reciting the daily specials. We opted to go with the steak and shrimp special. Well, the steak was delicious, cooked just as we ordered. We both had plentiful helpings of shrimp. The salads were ok... a little brown lettuce, salad dressings were sour. It was odd to get a piece of a breadstick rather than a whole one. But, the real shocker was the bill. Wow... quite expensive for what we got... $82 after tip. Overall, the food was very good, service excellent. We will go back, but, will choose something from the menu, NOT a "special."

Yelp
Great experience. All employees wore masks and our sever was very attentive. Had the tuna bites for an appetizer. The wasabi sauce and tuna bites seasoning was great but the serving size was small for the table. The fried cod dinner was delicious and very filling. Nice hometown feeling to the restaurant, would be fun place to watch a game or have a birthday party.

Yelp
Went here for Mother's Day with a group of 9. We all had surf n' turf, scallops, peel n' eat shrimp, haddock, and spicy cauliflower. Not one compliant!!! Every dish was prepared with great taste. Service was awesome. We will definitely be back to eat talk to Paula the owner, who was a delight. I rate this place 5 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
We showed up as part of a larger party celebrating a birthday; we were immediately seated. I am assuming someone called ahead to make a reservation because a few tables had been shoved together to accommodate us. A few people ordered drinks while we waited for the birthday girl to arrive. The draft beer selection was fairly limited. I think they listed about six options; however, they were out of at least one normally offered. Once everyone arrived, we placed orders for food. The menu is fairly small. People in our party ordered items including shrimp scampi over angel hair (the pasta and shrimp were both way over cooked), burgers (didn't hear any complaints), fried oysters (greasy and undercooked), and grilled salad (boring iceberg salad). While the food was bad to mediocre, the real problem with this place was the service. After ordering, we waited approximately 90 minutes before getting our food. I'm not from the area so avoiding this place won't be a problem for me. I'm trying to make sure others learn from my mistakes. If you enjoy poor quality food and exceptionally bad service, give it a shot. Stay away if those things don't interest you.
google avatar

Terry M.

Yelp
Place was very good for the food. Portions was great. Some of the best shrimp I've ever eaten. Service was good but very slow.
google avatar

Carrie T.

Yelp
The food is great and the service is amazing. They always remember you and everything seems homemade. I would give 5 stars but I feel the menu is very limited.
google avatar

Yelp
There isn't any large Restaurant chains to choose from in Saint Albans. Shuckers usually has great food and usually have great Dinner Deals!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
After reading so many positive reviews on multiple sites, I really expected more. We got the jerk shrimp that so many raved about and, though the seasoning was really good, the shrimp were over cooked and tough. I ordered the shrimp scampi and agin the shrimp were tough and the angel hair past was waaaaaaay over cooked. So over cooked I couldn't even spin it on my fork it was just mush (blech!). I was there with some friends and one ordered the baked spaghetti special - I tasted it and, it wasn't terrible, but not really good either. Sauce tasted canned not from scratch The food was below par for me but the server was really great, which is why I feel the 2 star rating is warranted. Very friendly place, but don't expect great food.
google avatar

Donna H.

Yelp
My friend and I went there for the first time and we both agreed that the food was delicious. We both started out with their seafood chowder. I also enjoyed their oyster dinner. We were told that all their fish and seafood is fresh, and it certainly tasted like it was. This restaurant is locally owned and operated, so don't confuse it with the Shucker's Restaurant chain. The wait and service is very slow, but the food is worth it. We felt like we were eating somewhere near a beach, rather than in St. Albans, WV.

Teresa H.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place out after reading a good Yelp review, so glad we did!! It was the best Valentine dinner I can remember I ordered the seafood platter consisting of fresh Cod, Shrimp And Oysters and I have to say it was better than what I ate on vacation at the beach! Tommy my husband had the filet medium with a loaded baked potato and salad, delicious is all I can say! Everything was cooked fresh to order and perfectly!! Our waitress was very helpful, friendly and after a busy Valentines dinner service treated her last customers just as good as her first! Wonderful lady, I wish I could remember her name because she made our dining experience as good as it gets! She was originally from New York, My next visit I will definitely look for her!
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Awesome food. Great service. Shrimp is bangin, and steak is really good also. I would definitely recommend for dinner and drinks.

Larra W.

Yelp
Delicious seafood and the steak was prepared exactly the way I wanted! The price is right, too!

Bob K.

Yelp
Love this place! Good cold Devil Anse IPA on tap along with other good brews. Had the fried oysters with hand cut fries and homemade coleslaw that pairs perfectly with fish/seafood. Nice portions. My wife had the cod with the same sides and a wonderful homemade blackberry cobble. Excellent meal. Bethany provided prompt and friendly service. Can't ask for more. Won't be long before we're back.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
One of my mine and my husbands favorite places to date night at. The food is always on point. The workers are always super friendly. Highly recommend the surf & turf. My husband said the jerk shrimp is the best he's had since our trip to Jamaica. Love this place

Greg C.

Yelp
Great dinner! The scallops were delicious and the best corn on the cob I haven't eat. Greg
google avatar

Tammy D.

Yelp
Shrimp Scampi over angel hair pasta is awesome!!!! The grilled chicken is good and the grilled shrimp is amazing. I always call in a to-go order and it's always great.

Jessi L.

Yelp
What can I say but this place is awesome!! Our service was outstanding and the place has a warm atmosphere and the food was great. Closest thing I have had to seafood as good as at the beach and his steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Was just there for the first time last week and can't wait to go back this week!!
google avatar

Reece L.

Yelp
Went in for lunch. The place wasn't overly busy, and the service was great. I got a grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken was tasty, the lettuce was shredded, and there were generous amounts of black olives, onions, and banana peppers. The building itself is a bit on the shabby side, but I would recommend the place based on the service and food that I had today.
google avatar

Chuck F.

Yelp
It's more of a pub than a bar. You'll see families as well as couples and small groups. There's TV but its not an issue as far as noise. The food is wonderful with different specials throughout the week. It's not just appetizers either. On Wednesday they serve steak, Saturday is surf-n-turf. The drinks are good, the appetizers are great, the jerk shrimp is unbelievable. The staff is friendly and courteous, the beer is cold, and the service is fast even when they're crowded. To make it even better, it's located in a historic building in the St. Albans historic district.

Randy B.

Yelp
Great food, service, atmosphere, very reasonable prices. The sub melt was spectacular. Wife had grilled scampi and they were excellent.

Karen C.

Yelp
I love their fresh fried oysters. Everyone at our table raved about their food. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Server was attentive and accommodating.

Melanie P.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. They did not disappoint. For an appetizer, we ordered the pretzels and beer cheese and they were so good, we ordered another basket of them while we waited for our entrees. The steaks were delicious, the baked potato and salads were amazing and our server was the BEST!! I can't remember her name, but she mentioned her family owning a boat and how they enjoyed boating on the Kanawha River. She was such a delight. We will definitely be back!!

Olivia L.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I have been here 4-5 times. This last time, we had a group of about ten for a birthday dinner. We arrived around 6:45pm and were told it would be an hour wait, but they were awesome to get us seated out front -- we just had to wait for about 30-40 minutes. Our waitress Bethany was awesome! She was so fun and had a great personality. She handled our large (crazy) group like a CHAMP! Thank you, Bethany for being awesome. Our food was also great, as usual. It was the first time some our group had been to Shuckers, and everyone loved it. My sister in law had a great birthday. Can't wait to go back. I really want to try to surf and turf one day.
