I've never played shuffleboard. I met a group here at this unassuming place in the Tampa Heights area of town...easy to get to, however, the parking parking lot is really small and spaces are tight.
Inside is a dark bar, it's spacious to meet a group of most any size... they serve drinks and food. I did not eat or drink this trip, but was interested in playing the game!
Never having played, I needed to understand the rules. And call me "precise" but I like to play the right way... So, when we were getting our explanation on how to play, although some of the rules were listed up on the board, it was not fully explained and partly conflicted with the rules on the wall. I looked up briefly the rules but it's no wonder one part of our group not playing properly.
It was all for fun anyway, but in case anyone is interested in the real rules of play - you'll want to check it out online before arriving.
It is similar to table shuffleboard and cornhole. But different.
There are 4 courts in this place, I think sufficient for
Do not walk on the courts! Hard to remember when you're trying to retrieve your discs. Pucks. Biscuits??
One confusing rule we were told is we play until we get to 75. 75?!? That's a lot of puck shots! However, when you read the rules elsewhere, you play to 15 or 21... that sounds a little more realistic. And within your hour of play for $10 per person (which for 4 players and $40/hour is... well... you decide), you get to play as many games as you can fit in playing to 15 or 21... 75....took like an hour and a half and if you wanted to do a best of 3 kind of friendly competition, you might be able to in one hour!
LOL
In any event, the place is fun, I'd visit again, I'd try the food and drink next time and I'd know better how to play the game!! It is a fun spot and hopefully my future visit(s) will improve my opinion, but for now, it's ok!
