Shun Xing

This review is for Shun Xing II. One of the worst Chinese food establishments I've ever been to in NC! Sadly, it was highly recommended to me and I'm puzzled as to why based on my food experience. The General Tso chicken was a flavor that I've never tasted before in my life and it was absolutely disgusting. All the rest of our large order of items were bland. This place may have authentic looking photos of the food, but it is by far from authentic Chinese food.. I will never be back or recommend.

EVERYTHING was fantastic! Combination orders: Broccoli beef, they don't smother it with sauce, it's good but strong, it doesn't need that much because its great, not over cooked Broccoli or carrots and beef is sooooo tender. I'll order easy on the sauce next time. Comes with pork fried rice that is also fantastic not greasy and came with a role that is very large, look at the picture, alittle greasy but most are, it wasn't overy greasy. I loved it all. Husband had sweet n sour chicken, he got hot n sour soup n he said it's very good with a lot of veggies. Also came with roll again great, look at picture, it has soo much meat, not filled with veggies with specks of meat, it had MEAT!

Have been here twice with the husband and we loved it. Veggie LoMein, cheese wonton & egg rolls were all delicious. Will definitely be back when we are in town. Update: Have been several more times & it has been constantly good. The dinner combinations r a great deal and the service is awesome. Placed online order & asked my lo mein to be package separately from my chicken which they did then lady at counter pulled everything out to make sure the kitchen had done so.

Quality of chicken has gone down hill. General Tso chicken is rubbery, and super tough. Have to spit it out just to take another bite. Very disappointing.

Used to be really good, but last two times it has been awful. Seems like they are reheating the food in the microwave, the General Tso chicken is absolute mush. Even worse, found a hair in my chicken and Im pretty sure it's dog hair.

The food is delicious! I recommend it to everyone; go visit and try your favorite dishes.

This is my fave Chinese place in Elizabeth City. The only downside is they are closed on Sundays. Really, not I’m not mad at them because their food is the best. If they are open and I want Chinese, I’ll drive across town to them. I’ve never been disappointed since they’ve opened.

Best Chinese food in E-City! Their fried wontons remind me of NYC Chinese food. Staff is always efficient and friendly.

Stop by while passing through for work. Ordered the sesame chicken lunch special for takeout and i am not disappointed. Food was hot and fresh. The cashier was so friendly. Definitely check this place out for quick fresh food!

The food was great, we called in the order and it was ready quickly. My grandma said this is one of the best places to get Chinese food. They have a dining area if you want to eat inside as well!

This is normally good but today it was so bad, we had to throw the food in the trash. I don't know what the meat was in my lo mein but it sure didn't look like beef or taste like beef. That was $20 down the drain.

All I have tried all the Chinese restaurants in our area including this one. I would consider myself a Chinese food fanatic. And none of them are all that good. Editable but not enjoyable. However. Last night we tried Shun Xing again and they must have a new cook. Whoever was cooking Tuesday May 14 knew what they were doing. The food was excellent! Please keep this cook. We had Beef and Broccoli Pork pancit Steam dumplings Broccoli in garlic sauce Our usual order, but this time I just can't say enough how good it was. I'm praying who ever did the cooking stay!

I was weary about trying this place because of reviews. But I'm glad I went with my usual, find out for myself. We have ordered from them several times and they have been on spot everytime. I'm so glad I used my own judgment and tried them. They are good with dmfair prices

Always pleased here with the food and customer service. We usually get general Tsos and chicken with garlic sauce. Also, crab Rangoon, chicken lo mein, and chicken wings. Family members have gotten the shrimp lo mein, pork lo mein, schezuan chicken, and sweet and sour chicken with no complaints. Food is always fresh and hot for our experiences here.

Just moved here and we are trying some of the local eateries. We ordered at the counter and the server was very helpful up. We waited just 15 minutes for the food to be cooked. When we got home the food was still piping hot, it was all fresh and tasted great. We will go back and try some more dishes.

Genuinely impressed with the quality of the food here. First time trying the food here and everything was very good. I hate orange chicken most everywhere I eat it, too much vinegar is used in the sauce. It's actually sweet here! Service was top notch! The man that took our take out order was super helpful and kind. 10/10 will eat here again

Best Chinese in town. Reasonable prices especially for lunch. Added bonus: the owner works nonstop and she seems like a genuinely nice human being, too.

I've had takeout here 2-3 dozen times and only had one bad batch of food when they over cooked the shrimp toast. Overall I have no complaints, they are willing to cook the food to your taste as long as you are clear and concise on what you want. I like the beef cooked hunan style extra spicy and hot oil. Don't be afraid to customize your order I call mine the Mr. T when ordering take out which is beef, snow peas, water chestnuts, baby corn, bamboo shoots, and cabbage. Cheers!

Honestly, I've had a lot of different (American) Chinese food on my journeys. I usually always will order a Wonton Soup, and Beef or Chicken Broccoli with rice. First of all, EXCELLENT service. The two gentlemen who took my order were very kind, good energy and friendly. Second, the Wonton Soup was simple, but had great flavor, and was fulfilling. Some places I have been, the broth tastes like water, and when I got it here , it was what I was looking for. Lastly, beef and broccoli was great! No fatty pieces, not over cooked (or undercooked), and the broccoli was perfect!! Thank you Shun Xing II!! You satisfied me!

I love love love this place. This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in Elizabeth City. Theyre so friendly and the food is always good. We order from here quite often and we're always satisfied.

Standard Chinese take out fare, but super fresh. We ate in because we were in town. Friendly service and it's clean too! Lost a star because while our food was piping hot, the steamed rice was cold. We'll definitely return when in town again.

We only recently moved back to the area and this place is just as good as it was decades ago. Nothing fancy, just good and consistent takeout. Never been disappointed.

Honestly the food isn't that great, a little on the salty side and that's saying something because I like my food seasoned. Didn't really keep well that next day either. Wouldn't go back.

Food isn't the best but for the price it's worth it. Way better than Hungry Panda in Camden which is double the price for similar quality food. Food is always hot and ready when promised, orders are accurate.

Decent food, nothing special but nothing wrong. The sizes for the lunch specials are small, latest prices are high. No place to wait for your order inside the store and front personnel not warm or friendly. One more restaurant that lost the measure after the pandemic and try to make a quick buck.

Love ShunXing! We probably order at least once every two weeks since it's right around the corner. The food is always cooked perfectly to order & staff is friendly. We almost always get sesame chicken, orange chicken, shrimp lo mein, or cheese wontons. Huge amounts of food for a small price.

Solid carry out Chinese place. You'll have your food in 15 mins and it is hot and delicious

Great Chinese food at a good price and very quick. Our favorite Chinese place. I have ordered here several times and have never been disappointed. General Taos chicken, Sweet and Sour chicken and The Beef and Broccoli are all very good. The egg rolls are crisp and fresh. Every time I order over the phone the staff are always nice and have everything ready to go when I arrive. Def recommend stopping in if your in the mood!

Best takeout Chinese in Elizabeth City. The general tso chicken in a no for me though. Too much soy sauce and never enough heat. Always ask for ot extra spicy and I can still taste too much soy sauce. Love the fried rice, egg drop soup, eggs rolls and spring rolls. The fried pork with sweet and sour is always good. The low mein is good. Our go to if we dont want to drive to VA.

I decided to try this place because of the reviews from both Yelp and Google. I am new to Elizabeth City and haven't ventured out to many food places just yet. The staff was very friendly and my food was nice and hot. With all things considered the food was decent. It lacked flavor and I wasn't really impressed.

Some of the best Chinese food I had for a great price and close to the college when I was attending class all day I like there general tso chicken and egg rolls

We ordered the following: general tso chicken, egg rolls, chicken & broccoli, wonton soup and chicken fried rice. The rice was yellow (odd) and had only chicken and onion. It had no flavor, no salt, soy or anything. Don't bother. The main entrees weren't bad, maybe a bit heavy with the sauce on the general tso. The egg rolls were undercooked... all 6 that we ordered. The soup was greasy, and the pork inside didn't look good. Flavor was odd. I would reorder the meals but everything else is a no go for me.

Customer service is good. General Tso's and the chicken broccoli is always good. Along with the egg rolls. Chicken broccoli portions can be a little bigger, but overall food is tasty. Prices aren't bad either.

They may become my go to joint yet! Just moved to the area and one thing I miss about LA (SoCal) is the variety of foods at any and all hours of the day! Shun Xing brings me a little comfort for the time being :)!

Honestly the best Chinese restaurant to eat at real friendly service and the mangers and cooks are amazing people and very easy to get along with and they know your order like it's the back of their hand

I love coming here for my Chinese food take out! Reasonably priced and good service. And of course the food is amazing, and my call in order is always correct, and on time every time I order here! Would definitely recommend!

GREAT food. Fast service. We eat here frequently and we call ahead. It's usually ready in 10-15 minutes. Never had and issue with our order and have never been disappointed by the quality! A must if you're looking for good Chinese!
