Google
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience from start to finish! I love seeing young people working so hard and so well trained in hospitality, but enough being a "mom fan"! Oysters were lovely, first time trying them bbq'd and they were delicious. The raw oysters were tasty- just as described. Both entrees were perfectly prepared, great portion size, sauces were seasoned just right! Service was so polite and professional, they went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our birthday dinner. Can't forget the wine selection, love that there are really well made international wines available by the glass.

I went with some girlfriends and it was the perfect place for us to eat great food and catch up! The space is beautiful! I loved the atmosphere! The waitress was professional, helpful and entertaining! The dishes were cleared quickly and we all felt as though we’re were very well taken care of. The hostess and the busser even approached us to take our picture because they wanted us to capture the fun time that we’re were having! I highly recommend this restaurant. I understand why it took 3 weeks to get in. What a great experience!!!

Google
We came here after seeing the old menu uploaded that have many pasta with half portion option. However when coming here ghe menu totally changed completely. However we still decided to give it a try. We liked the scallops it was right cooked and have a great taste. The pumpkin 🎃 soup & the beet salad are great too. However when we tried the oysters, there are one with sand in it, I immediately threw it out and ask our server and he was kindly replace for us a new one. Overall our experience dinning here are good. Not accessible and baby stroller friendly.

Epic. 12/10. All restaurants should aspire to this level of perfection. Made a reservation for a birthday and left very specific notes which the staff took to heart, waiter Brian was super attentive and helped us order the most delicious food, atmosphere and aesthetic are ON POINT. A bit loud but what else could you expect on a Friday evening with a packed house. Thank you Shutters for an awesome experience - we’ll be back for any celebration worth having!

Google
We had a great experience here. The restaurant is beautiful and we are excited to return and spend some time on the roof top deck and back bar patio. The food and service were very good. The pork belly was fantastic as an app and the scallops were perfect. The hidden gem is the pastry selection. Do not leave without getting the cherry pistachio cake and topping it with an espresso martini! We will be back!

Went to Shutters on King for our anniversary and what gem to have in downtown Leesburg! We ordered cocktails and the gazpacho (not pictured but highly recommend). My wife had the halibut and I had the sirloin with mashed potatoes with pumpkin cake for desert. The service was amazing and the restaurant had a very cozy, yet still very bright and trendy atmosphere. Will definitely go back and highly recommend!

Google
We went to shutters last night for a birthday dinner and we’re seated at the round table next to the host stand, the restaurant was so beautiful and the food was great, but I’m giving three stars solely because of the front door. Every single person that walked in left the front door wide open and it was freezing outside, so we had to put our jackets on at dinner and none of the workers would go and close the front door. You guys need to install a new front door ASAP. Also, the current one slams so loud if someone does close it. The front door literally became the topic of conversation at our dinner because of how annoying it was the whole time we were eating. if you eat at this restaurant request to be seated in the back room, not near the front door.

Google
Its a fantastic atmosphere but the actual food and service was fairly run of the mill. We got there after the dinner rush with a reservation but it was still a 30 minute wait. Food was decent and very well plated. Appetizers were varied but not much that would be "family style". No whiskey menu. No family style sides. No advertised specials. Its like a great setting that's still finding its place.

Yelp
The restaurant is BEAUTIFULLLL really took my breath away when I walked in! They did such a great job building and designing!! The staff was all super friendly and kind. Honestly made the experience a 5 stars in itself!! I loved that they acted like real people and wanted to have real conversations wish it wasn't rare lol but it is!! Super sweet people. Such delicious food! The brunch menu is pretty limited, but it still has some great options.

Yelp
Visited Shutters on King on a Sunday night and walked away impressed with the potential here. Ambiance: 10/10. The space is gorgeous, thoughtfully renovated to honor the historical building while adding stylish, modern character. It feels warm, lively, and intentional. Easily one of the best atmospheres in Leesburg. Service: Also 10/10. Heather was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and on point the whole night. Drinks: 7/10, Cocktails were good, but at their price point I expect clear ice and a fully stocked bar. The Old Fashioned was solid but a bit too sweet for my taste (this is fine). More surprising: they were out of Benedictine, which is a staple for quite a few classic bourbon cocktails. Food: Table bread was great and unique, especially with the soft, spreadable butter. The bread was a combination of what looked like very high quality dinner rolls, and what looked like a thin focaccia bread with cherry tomatoes in it (very good!), Oysters were fresh and delicious. Vidalia onion dip was a pleasant surprise. Deviled eggs were good, though a little heavy on the mustard. Rainbow trout and autumn pesto pasta were both very good and would order again, but neither quite hit that "stand out" level. One disappointment: they had a 37 oz tomahawk special, but the kitchen couldn't tell us anything about it beyond "from a farm in the Midwest." For a cut like that, details matter: feed type, grade, marbling, breed, any dry aging. If you're going to feature a premium steak, you should be ready to talk about it. I appreciated our server trying to hunt down more information for me. That lack of information is what led me to not choose it, and I'm usually a sucker for a steak special. Bottom line: I'd absolutely come back for the service and ambiance alone. The food is solid, and the place has all the ingredients to grow into a Leesburg staple as the bar and kitchen sharpen their execution. Also, the smash burger looked fantastic as it passed by...I'll be back to try that along with their brunch. Excited to see how Shutters matures. Future visits could easily be 4-5 stars as they continue to improve.

Yelp
Ambiance: A+ we didn't go into the restaurant area, but we ate dinner in the bar area which was a stylish and cool area. Food: D The Caesar salad was watery and didn't really have any flavor besides wet lettuce. We ordered the onion dip which was great, but only came with four hash brown sticks the size of steak fries. Maybe if it came with six sticks or even potato chips, it would justify the $14 price tag. We had a lot of dip left with nothing to dip in it. I got the wings, and they were decent although I prefer fried to baked ones My wife got a bowl of soap. Overall, the food is way overpriced and not good enough to justify the high costs. Service: D After being greeted quickly with water and bread, it went downhill from there. Wife and I were planning on just snacking on apps and having a few drinks, but there were long intervals between when we saw our waiter. Food was delivery promptly, but it took forever to get in another drink order. Waiter was asking about dessert before realizing I was still waiting for my second beer I ordered ten minutes ago. After dropping off the check, we waited about 15 minutes before I finally got up and handed him the bill so we could get out of there because we got tired of sitting around. No real reason for us to come back.

Yelp
My friend and I just had brunch here a few Saturday's ago for the first time and we had a great time! The restaurant vibe feels upscale and the décor was cute and unique. We were seated in a small room off to the side of the beautiful bar near the front entrance. The restaurant was crowded but the room we were in felt cozy and quieter. There is another private room space as well as an outdoor patio space. We ordered off the brunch menu, which is more limited, but still offered a variety of options. We started with some pomegranate mimosas that we both enjoyed. We both ordered the shakshuka which was so delicious. Our server was super friendly and attentive and helped recommend items from the menu. Overall we had a nice experience and I'd definitely come back for brunch, or even for dinner and drinks!

Yelp
If you are looking for some upscale atmosphere, this is a great option in Leesburg. The whole restaurant is sub divided into various rooms which offer a somewhat different vibe in each. On this trip, I ended up eating in the back bar with a friend. And we really enjoyed the service offered by the bartender. He was quite attentive to our needs. On to the food. I went with a simple order ... a burger ... and it was done right! Cooked properly and served with a side of fries. Overall, a really great experience. Looking forward to sampling another room!

Yelp
The best part of my night at Shutters, besides my company, was enjoying the beautiful outdoor space in their back patio. They are still new so I gave the service some grace and our server was really nice but things did take a while. None of the food I had blew my mind or had exceptional flavor. I think the most memorable/best item may have been the French fries! We sat at the bar after dinner and that was a great spot for a night cap. I'm going to let them work out the menu(that continues to change) before trying the food again but I did enjoy the venue overall!

Yelp
This restaurant is going to be great IF they start seasoning their food better. After our visit I enquired about other experience. WITHOUT EXCEPTION, everyone said their food needed salt. No matter what they ordered. Beautiful building, great service, TERRIBLE BREAD BASKET.... Do better. When you charge $$$$ for food you need good bread. Please do this. I'll be back in a few weeks to see if you've added salt.

Yelp
I came here tonight for dinner with my friend. Mom's night out-which is a rare event for me so I was so excited to try shutters for dinner! Let's just say 5 guys is better. Bummer Service was fine, our waiter was very nice but unfortunately the food was so bland. My cocktail was good. I wanted the blackberry smash-they were out of blackberry, so he told me it would be blueberry. It was good. The food, not so great. We started with the shrimp & corn croquettes-nope. No shrimp or corn in them. All dough. For entree, I got the burger. It was bland, nothing great. I was going to bring my husband one home but called him and said we can pickup food on way home that would be cheaper and more flavor. If I come back, it will be for a cocktail only. Hopefully they figure out their menu because the place is so cute and reminds me of Charleston! Love the vibe but food is lacking, especially for the higher prices.

Vincent G.

Yelp
Food was great server was great my son's sweet potatoes were served 15 minutes before dinner. Not good. We were not offered plates while sharing dessert we did receive dining utensils.

Yelp
Went here for the first time last Friday. We didn't have a reservation (I highly recommend making one) but the restaurant was much bigger than I thought and we got lucky with two open seats at the back bar. The bartenders were extremely attentive on both our food and drink orders and they did a great job working as a team. We ordered the filet mignon and scallops and both were cooked to perfection. We didn't get a chance to check out the whole place but the layout was great with plenty of seating, an outdoor deck and a 3rd level (which was reserved for a private event). Super cool spot! This is an AWESOME new restaurant in downtown Leesburg where I will DEFINITELY be a repeat customer.

Don C.

Yelp
New restaurant needing increasing customer value. Service minimal, seating in center so no privacy, food presentation marginal. Limited menus. Except pork chops, food expensive and minimum choices. Personal rating minimum 3/5 stars. Environment very good. Would question if to return. Wishing them well as new restaurants are welcomed.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
First visit. Ordered chicken piccata at $31. I would have sent it back at half that price! Overcooked so much that I could barely cut it. So so mashed potatoes and a stingy portion is spinach ( which was the best part of the meal). Wait staff was good but no concern from management. We won't be going back

Yelp
Went to Shutters for a late lunch based upon strong recommendations from the very nice folks at Lucketts Store. And I am so glad we did! There were three of us and we sat at a lovely table in the Library Room. Cozy, beautiful and perfectly laid out. No loud music blaring. Fantastic ambiance. Our server Mia was perfect. Attentive and thoughtful without being overbearing. Anticipated our needs. Food was excellent! Wife had the Squash soup. Her mother had the Mussels and I had the Charcuterie board. As an appetizer we split the mini country biscuits with pimento cheese and country ham. Each of us loved our choices. My mother-in-law had fantastic mussels and the broth was so delicious she asked for more bread and then a spoon so she could mop it all up! The Charcuterie Board was so generous it could have fed all 3 of us. The pimento cheese was full of flavor and just the right texture. I thought it a bit too spicy but that is a personal preference and probably the only thing I'd change about the meal. I have dined all over the US and much of Northern VA and this place is truly a gem. They may be shaking out a few kinks as they are recently opened but I HIGHLY recommend a visit. Ask for Mia's table.

Yelp
The reconstruction of the space is incredible. We have eaten there three times now, and the food and cocktail program continues to improve. Dinner on Saturday was fantastic, and our server Julian really made the experience a winner.

Danielle L.

Yelp
Been here a few times now, I love the improvements on the latest menu. The chicken was great! The vibe and decor in this place is photo worthy. The drinks were amazing. Love that the bar areas leave room for a quick drink with a friend, date night ambiance or a fun evening with friends. Happy to have this close to home.

Yelp
We went for lunch and really liked the food, decor, and friendly service. We want to come back and try them for dinner.
google avatar

Nate T.

Yelp
Similar to other reviews, the service leaves something to be desired. We sat at the bar and it took about 10 minutes to receive a menu. After another 10 or so we were able to put in drink orders. We were apprehensive of more delays so we decided to order food at the same time. Everything was delicious so no issues there. While we wanted another drink and/or dessert, the bartenders never came back to either give us a dessert menu or ask if we wanted another round. We were luckily enough to receive our final bill after another 10 minute wait. Overall, the food is good, the atmosphere is great but the service borders on awful.

Sam F.

Yelp
The food is extremely mediocre for the price. They want to be high end and the ambiance speaks to that until the service was absolutely terrible. It was extremely disappointing, after spending $250 on food that we couldn't even finish.
google avatar

Fred K.

Yelp
I'll give Shutters four stars for the layout (otherwise I'd probably have to do three) - they have a gorgeous bar area, just a nice spot to sit down in. We ended up there at the tail end of their Saturday brunch, so the menu was a tad restricted. Service was a little on the slow side but our server was super friendly. The food was okay but not worth writing home about - I frankly think they need to do a bit of work in the kitchen, decide if they want to be like Magnolia's (stellar) or something a little more mediocre. Shakshuka was served tepid. Pork belly hash was basically 95% hash with a sparse sprinkling of pork belly. Lots of opportunity here to wow us - please do!!

Yelp
Fantastic space!! Great vibe - indoor and out. Their complimentary bread is delish! I've tried several dishes and all but one were good, and the one that was less than has already been removed from the menu. They are learning and adjusting, what any good resto would do. Looking forward to many more experiences here.

Yelp
We were so excited to finally get a reservation at this new Leesburg hot spot for dinner last Saturday night! The ambiance here is fantastic. The decor is stylish, and the bar area has a lively, comfortable energy we really enjoyed. Our server was attentive and genuinely welcoming making us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. Now for the part where we were bummed out. The food unfortunately, just wasn't good. We were a table of four, and each of our entrees was a miss. It felt like the kitchen is still dealing with some major kinks, and we really hope they figure it out. My husband ordered the Berkshire Pork Chop, which was so dry it required a steak knife just to cut it. The chorizo and bean combo on the side also felt random and didn't really go together. My Seared Scallops were cooked well, but the whole plate with the mushrooms and sauce just tasted weird together. Not what I was hoping for. Our friends who ordered the Branzino felt their dish really missed the mark. The sauce was off, and the presentation was pretty unappealing. The Trout was the best of the four, but even that only good, not great. Overall the entrees were a letdown and we won't be rushing back for dinner just yet. We'll definitely try the bar for drinks next time and check out the burger, which everyone seems to rave about. We're rooting for them to get the kitchen sorted soon!

Amy R.

Yelp
For the owner: You have a beautiful restaurant, awful service and raw food. For a nearly $100 (no alcohol, apps or dessert) lunch? Shutters on King is NOT an upscale dining experience, as the vmail says. I know that's what it says because I called twice this week to bring this to the attention of the manager. It seemed prudent to me that you'd want to hear about the mishandling of a raw food incident from a customer and not from the health department. Check your vmail. I specifically asked for the courtesy of a return phone call from the manager. Nothing. When you screw up, own it, apologize, and make it right for your neighbors. We want you to be successful. If you don't answer the phone and return calls, you can't fix this. Happy to provide you with further details.

Kristen N.

Yelp
Sort of know why this restaurant isn't on yelp yet.... This place needs to figure out if it's going to be fine dining or a bar. It was extremely noisy. TVs blaring, girl falling over drunk in the corner next to us. But entrees are priced between 35-80. Portions were disappointing and lacked flavor. Scallop dish came with three medium scallops that had no flavor over a bed of bitter greens, chicken dish priced at $38 was even small. Halibut was blah. So disappointing. No vegetarian options either. Check came to $370 for 4 of us, including a $60 bottle of wine. Not the experience I wanted for entertaining my client and his spouse. We will go to Lightfoot for fine dining and KSO if we want a bar vibe next time.

Shawn A.

Yelp
When a restaurant/bar is so close (short drive) to so many great places, you have to work extra hard to get business and have the patrons keep coming back for what impressed them. It could be the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the service, the consistency, or the management/managers. We've been to Shutters twice now and I don't know if there will be a third time, the couple we were with said they would not be coming back. First, the Great, the atmosphere and the building is Great and sexy, perfect for date night or drinks with friends. Now the Good, the service both times I've been there was good. We expect Great since we've been spoiled by some places walking distance and some Great American Restaurants establishments within a short drive. Now the Bad, the first round of drinks for the ladies (2 lemon drop Martinis) were delicious and strong, my counter parts Margarita tasted like Lemonade and so did my Mojito (mine at least had mint for flavor). We mentioned that to our server and we ordered other drinks to make it simple. The second round of Martini's were all Lemonade and no vodka. We send them back. The oysters were good, as so was the dip we ordered. We decided not to take a chance on more drinks or food, so we walked down the street. The manager could have diffused the dissatisfaction by coming by and be friendly to listen and maybe do something (I know what I would do as a manager or a business owner) to retain some good customers that live minutes away, but when she finally showed up to the table, was to only explain (with a very unfriendly face, absent of any smile or remorse) how she removed the cost of 2 drinks from the check, and that's all she said. As if I was going to pay for drinks that were sent back . She (I have no idea who she was) has now lost 2 couples and families plus any recommendations they would give e to other friends or family all because she is a poor management. I know they are new, and I hope they fix the issues and become very successful in that spot. On the other hand that Wine place down the street was Great, we loved everything there. I'll review them next.

Yelp
We had such a great experience at this new hot spot! Food and service were amazing! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We had a dinner at shutters. The place is beautiful, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious. We were happy with the wine list and the cocktails. Highly recommend!

Danny H.

Yelp
Amazing service and great food!! We will definitely be back!! The staff were very friendly and inviting.

Karen A.

Yelp
It's pretty but noisy and service was pretty bad. Also, absolutely no vegan meal options (let alone vegetarian!). Come on, offer something--a pasta dish, a cauliflower or portobello mushroom dish.

Barry G.

Yelp
From cocktails to apps to dinner, this place was amazing and it had just opened. They are going to rock for years to come. The drinks, food and service were all amazing. The place was packed and all were having a great time. Excellent ambiance and going back for our anny. Thanks to all for making this happen! A great addition to the Leesburg scene. Cheers! BG

Katie S.

Yelp
The service and atmosphere is amazing! I highly recommend the crispy soy glazed pork belly. This place won't disappoint!!

Yelp O.

Yelp
Second visit better than the first. The pork chop was good, but slightly overcooked. Will order pink next time. The chicken also overcooked, but not bad enough to send back. The pork belly appetizer was good, but not enough belly. So far food is average, but they are still young & I hope their cooking will mature with time. My last review was 1 star, which was truly a bad experience.

Jay H.

Yelp
The ambiance was excellent. The service was good but the food was not good. I ordered chicken piccata. What I received was a chicken breast with a wing attached with pasta in a red sauce. My wife ordered eggplant pasta. She received a bowl of pasta with what looked like the same red sauce that was in my chicken piccata. They even got our drink order wrong. This restaurant has potential but they need a decent chef.

Marissa C.

Yelp
Maybe because is a new place, the food needs a little more work, cesar salad with no flavor at all, grilled chicken very oily, my husband ask for more cheese on his hamburger, and nothing, hamburger was over cook, and I really felt rush.

J J.

Yelp
This was our first time here. Based on other reiews it seems they needed to work some kinks out. And I really put it at say 3.7 stars due to that. The service was excellent and the restaurant has nice decor. It's modern and large, but maintains the charm one is looking for when dining in Leesburg. Dinner prices are about what one expects. They certainly are not low prices, but it's the middle of town with a nice menu so the price is kind of a given. I enjoyed my food, though the carrots on my plate were hardly cooked at all. The deviled eggs were overcooked and the stuffing lacked flavor. Otherwise it was OK. The rest of our party did not enjoy their food as much. It was well presented, but lacked in flavor despite having a good bit of butter in their sauces. I do think this restaurant will be successful. They have a great concept and a lovely venue. They perhaps need to simplify their main courses and work on the seasoning in their dishes. I'll definitely stop here again to see how they are doing.

Jon C.

Yelp
First off, I agree completely with the one review stating "Figure out if you are a bar or a restaurant." The ambiance would be great if no one was in the place. However mixing the tables with the bar area is absurd. You can't even hear the people at your table. The noise ruins any thought of a nice peaceful expensive dinner with family or friends. And then to charge the prices they do would be almost bearable if the food was 5 star, it is not. We passed on an appetizer, which we usually never do, but there just wasn't anything appealing. I was eyeing the ribeye until I saw it cost as much as a smallish steer so we chose the old reliable, Salmon. Well it was a tad under cooked (with the skin attached) with some small potatoes and string beans. Meh, and the accompanying sauce was sparse and I think squash based which is not my favorite. Oh, yeah, the pre meal bread rolls were extra hard which maybe ok but not my desire. Hot soft rolls for me, please. The Creme Burlee was actually fairly priced and decent. If I wanted to hang at the bar, which I do not, it seems like a great place for that kind of experience. But for a nice peaceful dinner I will go elsewhere. It was an expensive trial and quite frankly I am getting very disappointed with the restaurants in this area charging outrageous prices for 3 star food. Thank goodness my wife is a much better cook than any of the restaurants we have went to in the area. But it would be nice to go out in peace and spend the money on good food, service and atmosphere with friends and family without having to stare at the backside of people at the bar watching TV and scream talking.

Scott T.

Yelp
So let me start by saying that I really wanted this place to be great, but it's not. I'll go worst to best. Worst is the seating. They put tables for two right on top of earth other. The seating is so close they you have to wait for the couple next to you to stop talking to them take your turn to talk. You hear every word even with the bad acoustics and loudness of the restaurant. Please I know you need to make $, but how about a little space between tables when you're spending $75 a person or more for a meal. The guys butt hit our table when he was leaving and knocked over our water -- he was a big guy, but yes, it's that tight. Food wasn't great just okay. Think Clyde's on a bad night. The staff look like they're all 15 years old, so please higher some older more experienced staff. The ambiance though is fantastic. Great bar up front and amazing open bar with outdoor feel and fun patio. Work out the kinks and we'll be back to try you out again in three months Shutters.

John P.

Yelp
Tried to go in around 4pm on a Friday and was told they don't open until 5pm. On a Friday after work? Went back at 5pm and there was a line to get in - fine, they are new and I get that everyone wants to check them out. Once inside we tried to get a seat at the bar as there were a few open seats - after sitting down the bartender informed us that our seats were "reserved"? At the bar? No apology - or effort to get us seated. Got the vibe that he was holding them for some friends of his. By that time all the bar seats were taken. Bar was also incredibly noisy and loud. We left, but the only door is only large enough for one person to go in or out at a time, and people were still lined up to get in. Note to self to locate fire exits next time I am there. We went to our favorite, The Wine Kitchen, and enjoyed the quiet, intimate atmosphere, great food and excellent mixed drinks - try the new King Street Iced Tea! Fab! Will try to go back to Shutters once they get themselves sorted out in a month or 2.
