"A canonically cozy spot tucked into a Happy Valley strip mall, Sichuan City delivers explosive flavors and a multitude of spicy seafood dishes. Most dishes here are served family-style; a medium to large group is recommended for larger format plates. Diners looking for something special should aim to order the cumin beef ribs, the hot boiling fish, or the spicy fish and intestine clay pot." - Seiji Nanbu, Janey Wong, Rebecca Roland

"This Happy Valley strip mall restaurant is the kind of place where food writers celebrate birthdays, thanks to dishes like its “wood bucket live fish,” a white fish soup buzzing with green peppercorn, and the thinly sliced beef swimming in a pumpkin broth. Opt for any of the hot, dry, or clay pot dishes, plus a few chilled snacks like mashed pepper with century eggs or spicy duck neck — those seeking things like dumplings, noodles, and fried rice will find those here, as well." - Michelle Lopez, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Authentic Sichuan Chinese food. Service was fast and attentive. There are lots of menu options, all of which are pretty expensive. The flavor is wonderful. The owners seemed anxious for us to eat and closed right when we left. But, So delicious!

Four of us went out to dinner in a Friday evening. They had a few other diners in the restaurant. The ambiance is clean and Spartan. The service was fast. We ordered three meals, family style. The shrimp chow mein and beef broccoli were amazing. The shrimp especially was crispy and fried but didn't have heavy breading or anything. The whole experience would have been worth it just for the shrimp The beef broccoli was standard in texture but had a great balance of beef with broccoli. The sauce was strong with ginger and was delicious. The third dish, garlic spare ribs tasted okay and the coating was crisp and light. However, the meat was tough and rubbery. We definitely didn't finish that dish and it was not a good choice. The cost was reasonable for what we ordered and the portions were adequate to feed us all - even without eating the spare ribs. Overall, I'd love to try this restaurant again, just some more dishes.

Google
My friend recommended this place and to our surprise, it was very good. Service was great, very friendly and fast. If you have a large party, try the house special wood bucket fish soup. We also ordered the dry cooked string beans, eggplant tofu, the traditional sweet and sour spare ribs. Another good one is the toothpicks lamb plus the black pepper beef.

Google
Food was ok. Lamb was very oily. Pineapple prawns were good. Not many choices for non spicy food. Rice cost extra.

Google
The food is overall ok, but not meet our expectations considering the taste and price. The cabbage is a bit oily. The pork stomach with pepper taste slightly sweet, not spicy enough. There is not too much fish fillet inside the soup considering it is $55 dish.

I finally had a chance to try this place out and was glad that I did. They have some really authentic items that you can not find in your typical Chinese restaurant. We ordered a few items to share, and everything we ordered was tasty. We ordered the jade tofu (with chicken), dry stir fried pork intestine, and garlic Spareribs. The Jade Tofu dish was this really great tasting tofu dish that was crispy on the outside but soft and silky on the inside. The service was pretty quick as we came at the right time. I divisor will come back to try some of the other dishes, just need to bring more people next time.

Google
Delicious! I was hungry for Sichuan food and this restaurant was more than able to satisfy my cravings. I appreciate the knife work and presentations on all the dishes. Customer service was warm and friendly. I will try their signature dish next time!

The food here is fantastic. The Chongqing hot chicken is flavorful, spicy, and numbing. The mapo tofu was great. This is great Sichuan food. Their American Chinese staples are great too. Really flavorful chow mein and kung pao.

Yelp
I am afraid to review this place, but not for what you think... This place is absolutely the best Sichuan food I have ever had. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food is not only fantastic but in portions bigger than you would expect post covid and insert recent inflation. The inside is fun with fun murals which really give the place a cool vibe. My brother in-law brought me here the first time and I was so amazed I needed to come back again with my wife and him. I want to make this place a regular rotation of favorite places, but it is on the opposite of Portland so not a quick trip. My favorite item was the Sweet & Sour Prawns, Tail only and the perfect balance of flavor, and they are prawns not shrimp pretending to by prawns. The Dry Sauteed Green Beens had great spice, flavor and were crispy, I do not like soggy green beans at all, I would eat these every day. Chonqing Chicken was a huge surprise the spice the thin crispy batter and small pieces just felt amazing as I was eating them. I was dipping them also in the sweet and sour of the prawn dish for extra yum. There are so many dishes I still want to try so we have to go back again and again.

Yelp
We were craving the Salted Egg York Shrimp with Shell, $28.95: it was delicious! You can order it without shell. This is the only spot we know of that offers this uniquely delicious dish. It doesn't come with rice so you have to order it, $1.50 for a cup of steamed rice. This is my biggest rant, Asian restaurants charge for steamed rice!!!!! Wor Wonton Soup, $14.95: clear broth but a bit salty for my taste. I was disappointed that the filling was not mixed of pork and shrimp. Instead the shrimp came whole and separately from the pork only filled wonton. I didn't appreciate the random cut pieces of pork and beef. There were barely any bok choy. We braved ourselves with a new dish, Green Pepper with Shredded Potato, $14.95: we still don't know what to make of it! It had a vinegar after taste, crunchy at every bite, a few pieces of green bell pepper to matched its name. Beside that, there was not much else with flavor. It was definitely strange and bland for us. Quick and sufficient service. Interesting drawings for wall decoration.

Shane L.

Yelp
The vibes and food in this restaurant are very authentic. The dishes are plentiful portion wise, and all of the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious. We loved the pork with the steamed buns - that dish is savory and sweet and so very satisfying. Their chow mein was also very tasty. Another favorite of ours was the eggs with tomato - that's such a basic Chinese home style dish but when it's done well, there's just something so addicting about it and they do it right here.

Naly S.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants my boyfriend and I always have in rotation!! The food always comes out hot and delicious each and every single time we visit. We typically get the spicy Sichuan prawns, sweet and sour fish fillet and a type of veggie dish. This time we got the salted egg yolk prawns, and eggplants. And of course the sweet and sour fish fillets. It did NOT disappoint. The prawns were bouncy and supple with each bite- the egg yolk was a perfect salty flavor dusted with ample egg yolk. The eggplant dish was great, I don't normally like eggplant but I will say I will eat eggplant again if I could have it from here every single time! The fish fillet is a perfect sauce coating and lots of pieces are given. The service is fast. We're seated pretty quickly with a menu and water- even during pretty busy dinner hours. Ambiance for the most part is quiet, but there has been some days where it's busy during dinner times making it pretty lively. Lots of parking in the complex. Will always recommend this place to folks.

Yelp
Food here was probably the best chinese I have had! 5 star for food for sure but location and ambiance was meh. It's in a strip mall on 82nd in Happy Valley so if I hadn't read a review in Portland Monthly I would NEVER have known ot given this place a chance. I wanted to knock down a star for that, but I would rather have amazing food at a good price than a fancy location and be charged twice as much. Portions were huge and defintely family sharing friendly. We came here with friends and ordered a few different dishes and I highly encourage you to try things that you wouldn't normally order. As the name suggests, this is Sichuan style food and different than your regular chinese american over sauced cheap chinese. Somethings we ordered were standard because I have a child who wanted chow mein and I myself wanted to try the dry cooked string beans, which can be found at other places but this version was not overly saucy or greasy and def had a kick to them, so I was a fan. We had the Cumin Lamb and it did not taste gamey at all but was thinly sliced tender lamb seasoned with cumin and and chili seasoning that was spicy and full of flavor but not burning hot. It was so good and I highly recommend it!! My friend also ordered a kung pao chicken which is kinda a standard dish but she said it was the best she had ever had. My daughter also ordered the Golden egg yolk tofu, thinking it was firmer and was not happy with the texture as the egg sauce had a bit of graininess to it. HOWEVER, I had some for breakfast and it was so yummy, the silky tofu and egg was a wonderful substitute for eggs with toast this morning! I also love eggplant and had really wanted to try out the mashed eggplant with century egg and green pepper that I had read about but the menu had it listed as something weird like mashed pepper egg or something to that effect. I loved it and have never had anything like it at an asian restaurant. The flavor was really tasty and (beware) there are chunks of green century eggs in there that I really enjoyed but my friend was a lil scared of. Lol. They also seem to be popular for their fish soups and soups in general and if I could get everyone else to share with me I woulda tried it out, but I didn't want to order a $40 huge vat for me to try a cup. But maybe I can find a friend who is more adventurous to go with me! I almost forgot to take some photos so the one I did snap were of the food left after dinner and there was a lot! Such a great bargain for the quality and portion sizes. I can't wait to go back again!!

Andy H.

Yelp
Attentive staff. Very nice spot with wall drawings. The food was piping hot. We order the eggplant in hot garlic sauce, sweet and sour fish fillets, and salted egg yolks shrimp. Very generous with the salted yolk on the shrimp. Would definitely recommend these 3 dishes and will be back to try others!

Jason H.

Yelp
Still great! We always order the beef in golden broth and the sweet and sour ribs! Usually we get one or two other things to try! The dumplings on chili oil are really great! Eggplant is my favorite of the veggie options! The people working inside (assuming husband and wife duo?) are always very friendly! Try to park as far away from Winco as possible. Not the greatest parking lot. But always worth the trip here. They also package to-go orders in quality containers that do not leak, assuming everything stays upright!

Melyssa G.

Yelp
Ordered Door Dash from this place during covid. I fell in love with the chow mein. I think it was combination. Finally decided to dine in this week. It was early evening and we were the only ones there, but folks started slowly arriving. Lots of seating. They have one big round table with a lazy susan for a large party. Nice to know. Everything on the menu sounded super good. I ordered the pork chow mein, sweet and sour shrimp and the pork with hot garlic sauce. We started out with a big bowl of egg drop soup. That would definitely feed 4 or even 6 people. It was HUGE! omg the food was delish. If I were at home, I'd lick the last of that hot garlic sauce. It was the right amount if spice and sweetness. The flavor was super yum. I want to go back and try something else off the menu because I have a feeling it's going to taste super good.

Sean R.

Yelp
Wow. So good, soo cheap and sooo biiig. If you can try to bring a hungry ass team so u can try more stuff, each entree can easily feed 3-4 and they're normal priced for portland restaurants at around $18-20! Not sure if they are related to Sichuan taste in downtown portland but very similar menu, not as much weird shit like hot pot gizzards and bullfrogs lol but still quite expansive, and I'm sure you could find something on there you'd never dare eat. - Duck necks: not sure what I was expecting but yup they were just duck necks. Served cold which was interesting. Not very meaty but there's a good pile of them. Had a bit of 5 spice flavor w/ some peppercorn afterburn. Def not a first date app, there's no way to eat it w/o gnawing like a dog. - Wonton soup: simple but delicious. Also huge w/ a ton of wontons & we were pleasantly surprised by the addition of chicken and shrimp. The chicken was so tender too. $14 for like a half gallon haha. - Fried rice: as an Asian sometimes I feel silly for ever paying for this but it's honestly nice to have as a side dish. Very light and fluffy, not greasy. - Szechuan Hot Beef Soup: my go to order at Sichuan places, perfect amount of numbing peppercorn spice and toons of tender beef. This place is tied w/ Sichuan Taste for the best Chinese restaurants I've been to anywhere ever. It is NOT Chinese-American which is why I like it, but you could still bring someone who only likes Panda Express as they have some of the Kung pao & orange chicken type stuff for those afraid of real flavor. The two of us spent $70 for all that food plus a beer and after we ate as much as we could possibly fit (til it was painful) we left w/ about 7 more meals to go. Incredible value honestly don't know how they can charge that low. Service is very efficient and Chinese.

Oksana M.

Yelp
I did a to go order of the beef chow mein and sweet and sour fish. First off everything was done on time, hot & fresh, in quality to go containers. The sweet & sour sauce was even separate. This was my first time ordering the fish and it was great! 10/10, would order again. Now to the chow mein, man for this to be a sichuan style food their chow mein is very America Chinese which is AMAZING. I will come back again and again just for the chow mein. 20/10 will be back

A C.

Yelp
Truly authentic Chinese restaurant....they do not have a lot of formalities but food is really really good and plentiful quantity. You don't get the full story until you see them bringing your order...we ordered noodles, fried rice, lamb with green onion and combination vegetables and we literally brought back about half because portion sizes are enormous and they are all delicious. Highly recommend u check out this place because the appearance is unimpressive until you get your food...oh and the prices are very reasonable for what you get

jason c.

Yelp
In the neighborhood , I wanted to try something new. Saw this place on Google Maps and a small excerpt on PDX Eater about this place. Ordered their hot chicken and fried rice. The chicken has that mala spice to it, which is a Sichuan signature taste that is numbing, but not too spicy...Also, it's perfectly fried . The fried rice could use a bit more msg, but they are very generous with the toppings. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back next time I'm in the area.

Hillary F.

Yelp
Takeout order consisted of pork fried rice, ant on the tree, dry cooked string beans with pork, home style stir fried lamb, chicken lo mein and dry pot spareribs and prawns. Everything was amazing, but the lamb was exceptional. Will be getting that dish again the next time I place an order, and there are a lot more items on the menu that I want to try.

Charlie T.

Yelp
I came back here with a few more friends so I could order more items to try and share. The service here is still pretty quick. We ordered the mapo tofu, shredded chicken, beef dry pot, Chongqing chicken, Sichuan Bean Jelly, green beans, and a Kung pao chicken just because. The food came out fast one by one. The dishes were pretty tasty and flavorful. The shredded chicken was well seasoned, and the chongqing chicken had the right amount of batter on it. Overall, we all enjoyed our meal and look forward to trying some more different items next time.

Aria M.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh food. Hot and flavorful dishes with each one tasting unique. We had the garlic eggplant and the shredded pork in bean sauce dish that's like a deconstructed pork bun. The chow mien was also great - not something I usually order but had a craving. It wasn't greasy and was very flavorful. Great experience and great food.

Kuo Liang Y.

Yelp
I brought my daughter's family here for the 1st time. We ordered MaPo tofu, Sichuan crispy fish, lamb w/ cumin, Sichuan spicy chicken, shrimp chow mien, jade tofu, and green beans. Overall, the quality is very good and authentic. The mapo tofu was spicy enough for my wife and several of the family. But my son-in-law and I felt that the chef held back on the numbing spice and did not reach the stinging spiciness we have had elsewhere. The Sichuan chicken was the most disappointing and felt like battered popcorn chicken with a lot of chili peppers thrown over them. All the other dishes were excellent and very satisfying. We definitely would go back over and over. If we do order the mapo tofu, we may ask for the full-level spiciness. We won't be ordering the Sichuan spicy chicken. The service was fast and the dishes came out nice and hot.

Kris R.

Yelp
Having lived in Sichuan for 17 years, I appreciate having a restaurant nearby that strives to give you an authentic experience. I realize it's hard to sell the "real stuff" to the general American public, since we're so used to over cornstarched, sweetened "general what's his name's" chicken. While refreshing, I still found it lacked hua jiao (Sichuan numbing pepper), spice, and a smoke filled loud environment. When I eat there...feel free to add the MSG as well! All this to say, well done for sticking to what's true and please don't water things down. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed and not too personal.

Wendy M.

Yelp
If you enjoy spicy foods check this place out! I came for the Mapo tofu and keep coming back to something new every time. So far one of our faves is the crispy fish, Mapo tofu, dry pot spare ribs. Their sweet and sour shrimp, dumplings and chowmein are also delicious. The kids loved it! It's become a family fave!

Jimmy L.

Yelp
Haven't had Sichuan food for a while, the last time was when I was in Beijing & Shanghai. My wife and I decided to try out Sichuan City and it did not disappoint, having amazing spicy and numbing chilies is fantastic, it actually makes you eat more, couldn't stop. The staff were friendly and attentive, but also many of them spoke Cantonese and Mandarin so be patient if there is a language barrier. The Chongqing Hot Chicken is a MUST order ;-)

Jonny M.

Yelp
Called a dozen places to see what was open and only Sichuan City answered. It's a few doors down from Kumi Buffet. We dropped in on a packed Thursday evening (around 7:30pm). Service is bad, even for Chinese standards, but the kitchen is incredibly quick. Our dishes came out in under 10 minutes. The menu is massive. Lunch specials ($12.95 to $13.95) are offered everyday from 11:00am to 2:30pm. - 2x Rice ($1.00 USD each) - Cheng Du twice cooked pork ($16.95 USD) - absolutely massive portion. Nice heat and the pork was tasty. - Eggplant in hot garlic sauce ($14.95 USD) - sauce was too sweet and the eggplant skin was extremely tough. Again, good portion but this dish was poorly executed. Disappointing. Bring a large crew (4 to 6 people) to experience the most of Szechuan eats. Don't expect any service at SC.

Louise B.

Yelp
Head to TJ Maxx -Winco plaza to find Sichuan City, and look to the back wall of businesses near TJ's. Lots of free parking out front in this plaza. Excellent lunch stop post nearby 24-hr Fitness workout and so awesome they have Lunch Specials 11-2:30PM too!! $12-13.95 with 2 cups of rice. No soup or fortune cookies, condensed options but better produce and sauce profiles. I'd definitely opt for these dishes overlooking those serving the minimal extras, Stir-Fried Fish Fillet $12.95 had heaps of delicate fillets, prob 12-14 pcs in a light and very mild sesame oil sauce with garlic & ginger that clung to thin petals of dark brown mushrooms like a wood ear but floral shaped... Never seen these before much less in a lunch special, yum! Slicers of celery and carrot add crisp textural contrast for the winner discovery dish and the year has just begun, what a treat! Hubby loves his spicy Kung Pao cluck cluck chicken though Sichuan City held back their Szechuan peppercorn fire power here. Next time they will definitely have permission to unleash more heat and less sugary sweet but still a very enjoyable dish of larger chopped chicken, peanuts and green onions. No celery carrots water chestnuts per the more common versions. Will skip the $2 pot of tea next time, it's hot and plentiful just lacking depth of flavor despite the dark brew color. The long rectangular standard mall space dining room has several large round tables and squared ones doubled up, so dinner times are sure to fill quickly so count on waiting if you come casually or book ahead for your larger party because itsa happening at Sichuan City!

Su-jen Y.

Yelp
Was recommended this place by my bfs parents and I absolutely loved it! We had the mapo tofu, chongqing spicy chicken, long beans and roast fish. I highly recommend all of them. In general, I would say the dishes are more fragrant than salty. The beans were super fresh, a tad crunchy and the chicken was super crispy and delicious. For the roast/bake fish, they used a non-catfish fish, which I appreciated because it had more fish taste and texture. Overall, I wouldn't say this is particular better than other highly rated Szechuan restaurants but it's one of the better ones. The dishes are certainly more fragrant and they have the bucket fish if you want to try that. The environment wise, I think if you are looking for instagrammable, this is not the place but if you are looking for a good Szechuan restaurant, this is it. The better Chinese restaurants usually score low in this category but the restaurant is clean so that's enough.

J Z.

Yelp
It was Szechuan cuisine, seemingly opened by Cantonese-speak folks. The decoration and dishes were all the best to experience with authentic Chinese food. Ordered Fish in hot pepper soup, eggplant salad (with jalapeno), and rice wine soup (where the rice ball with sesame paste was really good but the soup tasted only sugar sweet).

Darren Y.

Yelp
Goooood Sichuan food out in the clackamas / 82nd area. It's in a strip mall with winco and you wouldn't think much of the place. Got the cumin lamb, twice cooked pork and the shredded potato. All had pretty authentic flavors - would like it a little spicier and the staff seemed ready to accommodate. Will come again

Phil N.

Yelp
Kinda bummed. Was craving their food today after a stressful day. Showed up at 8:10 and was turned away at the door bc they were closing early despite their hours saying they were open til 10.

Aya L.

Yelp
Me and hubby were craving for spicy Chinese food. Stopped by Friday early dinner around 5pm. We got order to go. We got Shredded Pork in Hot Garlic Sauce, Black Pepper Beef and 4 order of rice. Both very delicious nice amount of spices. Big portion we eat dinner, Lunch and another dinner. So satisfying. Place is clean and friendly stuff. Definitely recommend.

Natalie C.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese place we've been to in Portland since moving here from LA 2 years ago. The Homestyle Lamb was spicy and flavorful and the Pineapple prawns were crispy and creamy- the onions and bell pepper add great balance to the sweetness of the Pineapple- even better than the walnut prawns version typically found on other menus. I was disappointed they ran out of the original milk tea, but I look forward to hopefully getting to try it next time!

Wayne Z.

Yelp
Helped fuel an evening of drinking! Got a delivery order from Uber Eats and managed to devour both entrees, which is saying something. Broccoli beef was cooked well and beef was very tender. Mapo tofu stole the show though, probably some of the best I'd ever had stateside. Wouldn't hesitate to chow down on this in the future.

Justin L.

Yelp
Best Sichuan I've had in the Portland area. Lemme go further: one of the best restaurants in Portland.

Brittany B.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. I mean it when I say I have not had such good food in a long time. Our first time here, and I am hooked for life. My entire family practically licked all plates clean. Not a single noodle scrap was left...beautiful presentation, hot & fresh, quick service, and incredible taste. I can't recommend this place enough. I thought the space was really cool and cozy! Menu & signs are in Chinese/English and while we were there the entire staff took a break to sit around a large round table for a hot pot meal. It felt like we were invited to their casual gathering and they treated us with beautiful food. Such a nice experience. Extra points for plastic cups with super cold crisp water. Can't wait to go back and try more! The menu is insane...they have everything you could ever think of, even the very unique things you dream of finding in this area.

Ben C.

Yelp
Beef Tendon $15 ~ was just about delicious but was mouth puckering salty. Pork Wonton in Chili Oil 7 little bites for $8 ~ unusually saltier than spicy. Vegetable Tofu Soup $13 ~ cute little hot pot, tofu crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside. And to our wonder...salty. Could not finish but half of each dish before the bloating was a signal of high blood pressure. Service was casual friendly. Bathroom disgusting. Loved the cartoon like wallpaper. With no background music your ears tune to other diners smack on their food. One can taste an authenticity to the flavors (excusing the sodium overload) that is more than the typical americanized Chinese cuisine.

Denzell S.

Yelp
I have been craving some good Sichuan food recently after I was re-watching videos of my favorite food vlogger, Mikey Chen. Thankfully I came across Sichuan City and I simply had to try. What I ordered: -Beef Chow Mein -Shrimp Fried Rice -Jade Tofu with Shrimp -Chongqing Style Hot Chicken -Eggplant in Hot Garlic Sauce Let me just say, Absolute yes on the Chongqing Style Hot Chicken. It was crispy and hint of spice. If you love tofu as much as me then a definite yes on the Jade Tofu. The eggplant was good, but a bit too saucy for me. I really do want to come back and eat in their restaurant and try their house specials.

Katy R.

Yelp
Worth schlepping out to Happy Valley. We were lured by the promise of their signature chongqing hot chicken and mouthwatering salted egg yolk shrimp. My eyes were watering and my tongue was numb, which is the highest praise you can get from me.

Grace C.

Yelp
I love this place. The service is always very good. The food is great for a quick bite, as well as for nice sit down dinner. Inside looks very clean as well!

Ada Y.

Yelp
got the sichuan popcorn chicken and it's a good portion and so good! also ordered westlake soup just out of curiosity, but didn't like it as much. It's like an egg white flower soup with ton of soft tofu. Hope to come back again and try other dishes.

Wei C.

Yelp
Yummy Chinese comfort food! Bold hot and spicy flavors in all their dishes. My favorite is the house special bucket fish! It comes in a wooden bucket and is loaded with fish, sour preserved vegetables and delicious soup! It has a sour spicy taste and is really flavorful. Pour the soup along with all the ingredients over a bowl of steam rice and it's the perfect meal. Really hits the spot on a cold rainy Portland day.

Mohanaa T.

Yelp
Another great spit for Spicy Sichuan dishes. Their dishes are authentic, but pretty huge portion.. one fried rice is easily good for two or three.. Service was quite average, the person who handled our table was a little harsh, but I'd give 5 stars just for the food!

Jess G.

Yelp
I dream about their chongqing chicken. It is the most amazing dish. Everything else is delicious as well. Staff is excellent. Everyone here is as wonderful as the food. Love this place. I can't wait to go back!

David E.

Yelp
Delicious food, quick service and prices are lower than they should be for how good the food is(but I'm not going to complain) Seriously the best crispy fish I've ever had and I've had a lot. Absolutely going back and bringing friends with me so they can indulge in this hidden gem.

Debby L.

Yelp
After living in Beijing for nine years I was afraid I'd never find good Chinese food in the US again. I was wrong. Sichuan City serves the real deal. All my favorites on the menu. It's small and very typically Chinese. Two large tables for groups and smaller table for two to four diners. The lunch menu items are easily big enough for two so I took half home for dinner. Looking forward to going back and trying different dishes. I want to bring a group so we can get more variety.

Jerry P.

Yelp
Stopped in today and had lunch. I love a good Kung pao chicken. Unfortunately they didn't have one. The sauce was very thick and burnt tasting. It was like the sauce on a rack of ribs in a grocery store deli. One that has been under the lights all day and just got Burned. I won't return as the food I had was not good.

Lily N.

Yelp
one of the highlights of visiting oregon. best fried rice ever!!!!!! i wanna drive to oregon just for them.

Lynn M.

Yelp
Everything we tried here is delicious- Cumin Lamb, Szechuan Fried Fish, Beef in Szechuan peppercorn broth, Fiery Szechuan Beef, Toothpicks Lamb. There are many more dishes we want to try. If you like Szechuan and bold flavors you must try this restaurant. Service is prompt and friendly. Interior is nothing special and it does get a bit loud with employee chatter but it adds to the Chinese food atmosphere. It's worth a drive to SE Portland. What a gem of a restaurant.

Ping K.

Yelp
Well.. one of my fav place for Sichuan food! Their sour mustard fish, which served in a large wooden pot is one of the must have, but do make sure that you have at least 3-4 person there to help you to eat....it's a huge serving! They get real busy during weekends so go a bit early.

E G.

Yelp
Incredible spices and flavor profiles. Tasty as all heck. I'd strongly recommend anything eggplant.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I believe this spot has the best pork wonton in chilli oil around. I thoroughly enjoy the consistency of service no matter what time of day I am ordering. I get quality hot fresh food in a short wait. The dining area is beautiful, but they do have their bottles/canned beverages in boxes towards the register which can make it feel a little crowded. None the less, I keep coming back for pork green beans and wontons!

Yelp
The food here seems just a cut above many other Chinese restaurants in town. Yes, I do like Sichuan style more than most others. The black pepper beef and the crispy fish are both excellent lunch specials. The hot and sour soup is the best I've had, Portions are moderate (though two scoops or rice with the lunch special0 and prices a little high (pay for quality.) Want to try some things I haven't had before--next time the spicy pork intestines hot pot. Or come back with 4 or so other folks and share the wooden bucket fish. Service very friendly and attentive. Not sure why our lunches came first, then the soup, and the pot stickers last, which didn't bother our appetites. Has a homey feel, with some interesting murals on the wall.

Yelp
I read reviews about this place. This was a to-go order that I picked up myself. It had so many rave reviews! I was dissapointed. The spring rolls were greasy and seemed like the fry grease needs to be changed. They did not include any rice in our order. So either they forgot or they do not include it. Either way it was dissapointing for how expensive everything was. The Kung pao chicken was good, but chicken did not seam even like decent quality chicken meat. I found a thin chicken bone in my food. The shrimp fried rice was totally bland and had no flavor. Shrimp was good quality. I do not think we would go back. The stir fry green beans and a tofu dish were yummy.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service. The chong king chicken (sorry if I spelled that wrong) is amazing!
