A Running List of New Restaurants That Opened in New York City, April 2022 | Eater NY

"I noted that Sicily Osteria joined Restaurant Row with Sicilian street food like pannelle, pasta such as an almond pesto dish, and two styles of pizza available either thin-crust or Sicilian style, led by co-executive chefs Asi Maman and Heather Pelletier." - Emma Orlow

The pasta dishes are very unique. The potato croce were good but they needed something acidic. The pesto didn't do it. The arancino (note it's not plural as it usually is seen) was tasty enough and big for being 1 bell shaped rice ball. The spaghetti chittara had a decent amount of crab meat and am interesting combination of textures: cream sauce, flaky crab, spaghetti noodle, and crunchy pistachio. The casarecce sauce was delicious and very meaty. The limone sicilia dessert was gorgeous and delicious. It's very tart, which I like in my lemon dishes. The only disappointment was the pana de casa. We paid for the bread because it looked amazing, but everyone around us got a different complimentary basket of bread. The pana was smaller than expected and very dense and very floral with rosemary. I think I would have preferred the rustic ciabatta everyone else had.

The whole staff is very welcoming and are lovely people. The food here is amazing, including the drinks. Time passes when you’re here, specially when having casual drinks with friends. David is passionate about his job and does an amazing job at the bar. My whole experience was unique and amazing. I recommend bringing all loved ones here.

The limona was the perfect amount of tart and sweet! In fact, every dish was so bewitchingly balanced that we couldn't stop eating until it was gone! Highly recommend the sprouts, too.

Sicily is a hidden gem that instantly transports you to a sun-soaked village in southern Italy the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere feels warm and authentic—rustic décor, soft music, and the kind of charm that makes you forget you’re still in the city. Every dish bursts with flavor and freshness, but the bread and olive oil alone could be a reason to come back; they’re simply phenomenal, rich and perfectly balanced. The service is impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and delivered with genuine warmth. Sicily isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience that captures the heart and soul of southern Italy in every detail.

This is a cute restaurant with very nice outdoor seating. The interior looks good. Service was prompt. Unfortunately it was very difficult to carry on a conversation. The noise level was high and was made worse by a guy two tables away speaking very loudly trying to impress his date. The food was a disappointment. I had the veal which looked good but lacked flavor. A simple salt shaker would have helped. It was a bland meal. My wife ordered the Margarita pizza. When it came with no basil she was told they did not have any but then returned with a plate with basil leaves. My wife is a plain eater and she said the pizza lacked taste. The bread was served with a small tin of olive oil on the table. Pepper would have been nice. Perhaps we just made the wrong meal choices.

Google
I would say this was a okay (ultimately forgettable) experience for dinner on restaurant row. The food was alright enough but, I think the only item I would recommend or order again is the Casarecce (pasta dish). The desserts were a big let down for me; neither had any flavor balance just one note (sweet or sour depending on what you order) and some crunchy stuff at the bottom of the plate. Unfortunetely, the service was not good either. I had to bother the waiters three times for water, no one checked if we liked our food, and someone near us had a terrible time with their food (they sent it back and left immediately). I didnt feel taken care of.

Two of us got a last-minute reservation for 8:30 PM on a Sunday evening. We were seated within five minutes of arriving and had the beautiful patio table seating. The serving staff were accommodating and helpful and not too overbearing. It did take us a while to get menus and our bill. We ordered the three course dinner special from the weekly menu. It came in good time and had good flavor. I wouldn’t say this is the best Italian I’ve ever had however it was pretty good and presentation and environment really were a nice touch. We did use the ladies restroom inside and downstairs. It was clean. Overall, I think this is a great environment for a quiet evening out for friends or your significant other.

Google
10 out of 10 for the food and the charm. Don’t miss the signature lemon dessert. Get the cesarecce: fluffy pork sausage is incredibly aromatic and the pasta with red sauce cooked to perfection. A citrusy Caesar salad to start. Tiger prawns like I’ve never seen before. I can’t wait to go back. Shout out to our girl Patty.

Yelp
Sicily was perfect before a Broadway show. They knew exactly how to pace the meal to ensure we had time to be social, enjoy each course, but get to the show on time. I loved the ambiance and the covered outdoor section was super cute, we will request a spot outside next time. Be sure to grab a reservation because it filled up very quickly For drinks, I loved the ginger smash, it was pure perfection and not too terribly strong, but not weak either. You know fresh bread and oil is a staple - this was no exception. My chicken dish was quite good, almost health with the amount of veggies that were included with the protein. We also got some pasta that was perfectly al dente and the right amount to be filling but not overstuffed.

Yelp
I wanted to like Sicily more than I did:/ To be fair- the last time I had Sicilian food I was in Palermo! My group of 3 had a reservation on a Friday night. I started off with a glass of Chianti. We split the panelle as our starter. It was not as light as I am used to. For my main I ordered the chicken, which was good, but nothing amazing. This is also something silly to note, but their menu on the website is difficult to navigate on a mobile device. Sicily still gets 4 stars because the service is fantastic. Some of the best I've had in Manhattan I would say. I would definitely come back and give some other dishes a shot.

Yelp
If you need a place for dinner on a Saturday night and need a last minute reservation, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Amazing food, some of the best vodka pasta I've had in a while, the pizza was delicious, and drinks were so tasty. If you get anything here then get the dessert it's heavenly! Place is a bit on the pricey end with it being $22 per entree but they're so yummy it's worth it. Honestly surprised they had so much availability on a Saturday night during peak dinner times while the restaurant being SO LIVELY! And the service is super friendly and home like I loved it! Definitely would recommend as a place for date nights or dinner with your friends and family.

Yelp
My recent dinner at Sicily Osteria was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere transported us straight to the heart of Sicily. The rustic elegance of the main dining room, with its vintage green walls and exposed brick, set the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening. The food was nothing short of incredible--authentic Sicilian flavors shone through in every dish, from the perfectly crafted eggplant meatballs to the tortellini that was, quite simply, to die for. What truly elevated the experience was our server, Jennifer. Her attentive, friendly, and professional service made us feel so welcome and well-cared for throughout the meal. Five Stars!

Yelp
Stopped in before a Broadway show. Got seated upstairs. The service was average. The vibe upstairs wasn't as cozy as it looked downstairs. Sat near the window and the breeze was coming through, even though the windows were closed. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed my meal, as did my husband and my mom. Enjoyed our visit with family, but I'm not sure I'd be back again. I've had other Italian restaurant where the meal and service was more in line with that I like in a dining experience.

Yelp
Our experience was honestly awful and kinda disappointing. As a frequent visitor to NYC, I often get asked for recommendations and I'll be sure to never recommend this restaurant to anyone. We had a 3pm reservation before a 5pm show. We ordered cocktails and pasta. 15-20 minutes passed and it was very odd we hadn't gotten our drinks. All of a sudden, our drinks came, then maybe 10 seconds later, surprise you get bread! And then maybe 15 seconds after that, our meal came. It was no "enjoy a bit of bread and your cocktails while you wait for your mea!" It was all, "HERE'S EVERYTHING!" And YET, the pasta was dry as if it had been sitting at the pass too long. We sent the dish back, and I never ask for things to go back, which tells you how bad it was. I was also skeptical at how old (or at least the quality of) the oil was in the little canister on the table. It was almost sour. We had to ask for a water, they forgot, and we had to ask again. My water glass was dirty and I asked for a new one. He got me a new one, but put mine back on the shelf for someone else. Avoid.

Yelp
PARKING - there is a small lot across the street AMBIANCE - very nice looking but somewhat spartan in design by that I mean clean tables but antiseptic without any colorful verve or panache. ENTRANCE - not many folks for Saturday lunch pre-play but a nice greeting and prompt seating RESERVATIONS - I did an online one, and no issues but not being the rush you may need one. However, there are a lot of tables and a downstairs so if you don't it's at ur own risk. LOL. Many years ago this was a Spanish restaurant and I remember that the lower level was a little moldy but that may not be the case now. MENU - the brunch special and lunch menus were small but adequate. Please note that the dinner menu may be very different or similar m, I'm just saying SERVICE - was well above par at least 4 stars. Our waiter was nice and helpful. However , not particularly attentive with talk etc. BREAD - this little basket was fresh and tasty and they had a little can with olive oil that was great APPETIZERS - the baked clams were nice with good little necks from Long Island. Others tried the meat balls that were very good with great sauce. I tried a bite and agree. The Japanese beef however was so lean that they came off to me a little dry perhaps cooked a bit longer than necessary CONTORI - the broccoli rape was five star excellent. Super delicious and not at all bitter which is the key ENTREES - I did the linguine and white clams. The linguini was very good but not homemade but the clams were those manilla ones that aren't that great and there were little shell pieces in the sauce. Others thought their dishes were the ok. One note on the ravioli was there needed to be more sauce on the plate VINO - very good for the stock Sicilian. While a little alcoholic in taste. There was good body and fruit flavor DESERT - the lava cake was terrible, if u r looking for the chocolate river coming down forget it

Yelp
nicely presented, attentive staff and ricotta appetizer was best way to start off with a drizzle of olive oil. fav dish was lasagna! suuuuper cheesy but still good proportion to the flavorful meat

Yelp
Pre-theater NYC Restaurant Week Dinner 2025. Good price and portions for restaurant week! Great place for a pre-theater meal and great deal for reataurant week. Conveniently located on Restaurant Row. Note - I mention in detail at the end of this that it could have been more efficient, we had to rush to the show after. 2 people on a Thursday night before seeing a Broadway show one block away. One person vegetarian, the other gluten-sensitive. We only ordered from the reataurant week menu, one person also ordered a glass of wine. Note that the restaurant week menu does not mention which dishes are vegetarian or gluten-free. It doesn't mention any allergens so fortunately the staff helped clarify that information to us. I also commend the staff for coming back and letting me know that my original apprtizer choice was not gluten-free and pointing out which one was. Appetizers: Pomodoro Ripieno (could have used more salt. No salt shaker on the table so I just ate it as-is) - veg, gf Involtini de Melanzane - veg Second Courses: Tortellini - veg Halibut e Zafferano Third Courses: Mount Etna (sicilian pistachio lava cake w gelato) - surprisingly gluten-free and extremely delicious! Tiramisu - it was like a deconstructed tiramisu that was assembled tableside It is a large space with a lot of diners and we were seated in the back room - we and the 2 tables on either side of us were all rushing to get to shows in time. I expected it to be much quicker/more efficient service for pre-theater dinner, especially since most people were ordering the same few items from the restaurant week menu. We didn't receive our appetizers until about 20 minutes after we were seated? We mentioned to the staff numerous times we had a show to get to, to please bring out our food. We also asked for check before dessert arrived to save time, so did the table next to us. Maybe because we were in the room ALL the way in the back we also felt a little neglected - there wasn't always a staff member passing by to wave at if we needed something.

Yelp
Very comfortable and relaxing vibe. Service was very attentive. Our waiter Roberto was wonderful and paced our meal perfectly. Food was excellent. Pasta dishes were the highlight for my wife and me. They also have a nice wine selection at reasonable prices. Sicily Osteria has become our new favorite.

Yelp
Honestly, just disappointed. We were referred to this place by some friends who loved it. My wife and I didn't. We did make reservations and that went well. They took our order and brought out the bread. There are so many pics of homemade bread, freshly baked in a skillet. Nope, we got some dry bread that was cold cut up in small pieces. I ordered the carbona and my wife the chicken parm. We each ordered a drink as well. our food came out before our drinks. I'm talking maybe 6 minutes. My wife wanted the chicken parm with a white sauce instead of red. They said they could not do it? Really? Overall just not worth it.

Yelp
Stopped by Wednesday night around 10pm after a Broadway show and we were craving Italian. This was just a block away from the theater district so we checked it out. A cute restaurant with a pretty authentic vibe. We were quickly seated and ordered. The arancino we were unsure what it was but was airy and interesting. The meatballs were fine but had a nice sauce we used with our bread. Speaking of breads, the bread basket was very nice and consisted of some very fluffy grain breads. I personally got the casarecce which was DELICIOUS. A creamy tomato sauce with such flavorful pork sausage. Decent portion too. My partner got the rigatoni which was very hot and fresh. We both agreed the casarecce was the star of the night. Dip your bread in the sauce - it's great. Great portions, nice service, good ambiance. Definitely a place to check our for solid Italian.
google avatar

Warren A.

Yelp
We came here and tried the happy hour which has several food and drink options. I had a negroni which was perfectly made. We tried the meatballs on happy hour and the sauce was just amazing. We opted on one entree which was the pistachio lemon crab pasta which was also delicious. I will definitely come back to try more. We sat at the bar and service was superb.

Kathleen R.

Yelp
Horrible food and service. Food is terribly over salted. Cheap cheese. They won't give you Clean utensils for your next course which leaves a mess on the table. The busboy clears with other table's dirty dishes in his hands. Low class place with lousy mass produced type food.

Yelp
Hells Kitchen is a great place to have a meal near mid-town NY. Sicily Osteria did not disappoint. The service was good and the food, as you might expect from a NY, Hells Kitchen restuarant was very tasty. My son and I had dishes we enjoyed. I had enough to take home for a snack. We'll go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for lunch and did family style so we could try three different pastas. So many options on the menu that I'm salivating thinking of the food it was so delicious. Looks like fine dining with white table cloths and excellent service but still has a very casual feel and price. All the pastas we had I would truly recommend: MEZZI RIGATONI AL FORNO, CASARECCE which is Pork sausage, tomato, cream, robiolina and SPAGHETTI CARBONARA. So tasty, pasta cooked perfectly and great sized portions.

Yelp
We got last min tix to a 3pm play right by here and my friends coworker recommended this restaurant. When we arrived it was mid day and no one was in the restaurant. But our server said everyone left to make their 2pm shows. He also informed us it was restaurant week - which normally we would be all over but we were afraid we didn't have time for 3 courses so we just ordered off the menu instead. The front and the decor inside was so cute!! We would have loved to sit out front but we decided it was too hot that day. We ordered lasagna and salad to share and some watermelon drinks. All were delish!! My Italian mom makes a lasagna to die for and this was (almost) just as good. If I'm in the area again I will be back!!!
google avatar

Mei T.

Yelp
The place was decorated for the holiday and old Italian pictures. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Quick to take our order. The food came out relatively fast. Garlic bread to start. We had a fig pizza appetizer that was cold and not that tasty. (Someone forgot and left it out there?? Disappointing.). But then the pasta and main course was hot and tasty. We had the spaghetti chittarra - w/ crab meat,Veal Marsala, chicken parm, branzino, and casarecce (pasta). All was delicious and worth a repeat visit.
google avatar

Lingxiao C.

Yelp
The appetizers were just okay, but the spaghetti chitarra was amazing! Generous amount of crab, creamy sauce with the right consistency, and perfectly seasoned - worth ALL the calories. Service was attentive! The backyard patio was cute and pretty. Great for large groups!
google avatar

Khaterina Ł.

Yelp
Service was great! Food was pretty good. Very rich but tasty. Ambiance was relaxing and warm. Would go back!
google avatar

Tamie F.

Yelp
Request Roberto because he will take care of you! I basically let him order for me all night and couldn't be happier. He suggested a great Italian wine for us that I wouldn't have chosen on my own. He broke the tie for the tortelloni and it was fantastic. The burrata was so good and authentic. This place might be on restaurant row, but it's a really great find! Don't be deterred by anything because the food and wine are worth the stop!
google avatar

Katarina K.

Yelp
Stopped by this local staple on a magically warm November evening. We sat outside, right next to the restaurant's open doors, which let in a nice breeze. Inside, the ambiance transported me to a local restaurant in Italy, with charming tile and brick decor. Service was exceptional. All of the pastas arrived piping hot, which I loved. While the food was solid for a cozy neighborhood spot and the wine list wasn't particularly impressive, this place remains a comforting favorite in Hell's Kitchen.
google avatar

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
To be honest this was the most disappointing place we visited on our trip. It was okay and okay at best. Service- we had to ask for water refill. We asked for balsamic which we never got. We ordered a bottle of wine and they brought the wrong one. We had to ask for our check. Food- basic, honestly think I could make better at home. The pistachio dessert was gross and weird. We all agreed we thought we could get much better Italian in the city. Ambience- large place with multiple rooms including a nice back room!
google avatar

Diane K.

Yelp
Cons: Very loud, cramped seating. Small portions for a big price. Carbonara had overcooked guanciacle with sauce that was thick and pasty. Chicken parm was small portion and not tender chicken, very little pasta with dish. Pros: spicy marg was great, attentive servers, food came out quickly. Not eager to give it another try.
google avatar

Jose P.

Yelp
I am normally not a fan of loud restaurants, but this is the exception. The sounds from content patrons created an ambiance that exuded happiness and enjoyment. It was not bothersome and added to the overall positive experience. If you prefer to sit outdoors, Sicily has an impressive seating area that is nicely adorned, has seating areas adjacent to the restaurant, and also adjacent to curbside. Our server, Jennifer, was exemplary. She was dressed to impress and tended to every moment of our meal with white glove service. That included new utensils with every course and food presented at a nice cadence. I started with a drink that I've never had before.....the Jalapeño Margarita (Tequila, muddled jalapeño, cointreau, lime juice). This drink was perfectly crafted, had a hint of spiciness, and I enjoyed every drop. Our appetizer was the Polpette (Wagyu Beef Meatballs, tomato sauce, ricotta). These meatballs were succulent, soft throughout, flavorful, the tomato sauce was pleasantly sweet, and it placed this appetizer on my top five, to date. We shared the Margherita Pizza (San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, basil) and it was delicious. The crust was thin, crispy, and you could taste the freshness of every ingredient in every bite. The dessert......oh, boy.....the dessert. We ordered the Mount Etna (Pistachio Lava Cake and fig gelato). The consistency of the pistachio lava was heavenly, but I wish the scoop of gelato was larger. I capped off the meal with a Mochiato and it was just as good as the rest of the meal. I cannot recommend Sicily Osteria enough and enjoy your memorable meal.

Yelp
Osteria Sicily was a lovely Italian restaurant that was intimate but not tiny, classy but not pretentious. We had a 5pm dinner reservation and the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived, but quickly filled up as it got closer to 6. We ordered pannelle to start: little crispy bites of chickpea, flour, and lemon, which were delicious and unlike anything I've ever seen at an Italian restaurant. The finocchio salad was a must-order as my husband and I love fennel. For mains, I had the cacio e pepe and he had a pizza. I had a bite of his whixh tasted great, but could have used a bit more time in the oven. My pasta was delicious and the portion was huge. Prices are reasonable, especially for NYC. Service was fast and friendly. Our server was attentive even when it became busy. The food, atmosphere, and service made this an excellent night out. I would be happy to eat here again.

Geneva C.

Yelp
My lunch with family at Sicily Osteria is one of my most memorable restaurant experiences in NYC! The ambiance and decor, delicious meal, and impeccable attention from the staff made this a five-star rating! If you want a delicious and authentic Sicilian meal, I recommend you make reservations for this lovely restaurant!

Yelp
Food (5/5): Overall delicious Italian food. The appetizers were amazing with the calamari, meatballs, and buratta being great. The chicken parm and veggies were good with the side pasta adding good flavors. The desserts were also great with the cannoli being my favorite. Service (4/5): Came here for a client lunch and it went well. The servers were patient and helpful, they seated the clients despite us being a bit late. The only improvements would be that they could check up on us a bit more and they were a bit mixed up on who ordered what. At the end we were waiting a while to order the desserts as the wait staff seemed distracted. But overall, still good service. Ambiance (4/5): Nice spacious restaurant with tons of seating and well maintained. The decor could be a bit more involved and themed but overall seems like a quality place.

Yelp
Great food and service. For theater district not as touristy as others. Charming. Seated promptly And made it to the theater in time.

Yelp
~ Spaghetti Chitarra $30 ~ Rating: 4/5 I'm obsessed with this pasta!! It's loaded with fresh crab meat, the sauce is creamy and thick, flavoured with lemon, marjoram and crushed pistachio! 雖然白醬有點heavy,可是檸檬的清新和鮮甜的蟹肉讓你吃到最後也不會太膩!味道不單一,香脆的開心果為口感和味道都增添了層次感! ~ Carciofi $22 ~ Rating: 4.5/5 Creamy burrata mixed together with grilled artichokes, olives and mint leaves created a unique flavour that I have never had before, and really delicious! 第一次吃Burrata是搭配鹹香的橄欖和洋薊,薄荷葉的存在額外增添了點小清新。 ~ Spaghetti Carbonara $28 ~ Rating: 4/5 First time having carbonara with mezze maniche, and it works! The pasta is chewy, carbonara sauce is authentic, with just egg yolk, parmigiano, and most importantly, guanciale! Not pancetta, not bacon, not prosciutto, but actual guanciale! Guanciale is higher in fat, with a more intensive flavour that really shone when used in a simple sauce like carbonara. ~ Tiramisu $16 ~ Rating: 4.25/5 I was really fun to see how they construct the dessert right in front of you! Lady fingers are well soaked in espresso, topped with fluffy mascarpone and crunchy chocolate balls, it's a classic well done! ~ House Bread (Complimentary) ~ Warm, fluffy, really flavourful and well seasoned bread!! Sesame seeds on top add a really nice roasted flavour to it. - - - - - - - - - - Overall Rating: 4.25/5 Will I be back? Yes Loved everything that we ordered, will want to come back and try other dishes!

Yelp
I've been growing more and more fond of Sicily Osteria with every single visit. Seeing Broadway shows frequently allows me to get more acquainted with this establishment and a recent dinner at Sicily Osteria was just over the top. Caught Kimberly Akimbo (second time) and craved a solid, reliable dinner. That's when Sicily Osteria came to mind again. They never disappoint. The atmosphere is always so cozy and service--attentive. Our server was the lovely Lexi who was knowledgeable, gracious and answered all questions while offering recommendations. Whispering Angel Rose was our pick as far as getting started with drinks. For appetizer, we shared Cicoria which was described as Chicory, Shaved Parm, Poached Pears tossed in an Anchovy Vinaigrette dressing. When it arrived, the plate included chicory stems, radicchio and radishes as part of the veggies. Shaved Parm and thin slices of poached pear integrated with fresh mint and delicious dressing resulted in an appetizer unlike anything I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. For main, we decided on Pasta. There were so many great selections and after some deliberation, I finally decided to go with the Linguine Nere. Again, different from others I've had. Theirs was squid ink pasta (that's where the Nere or black chimes in) and included Vongole, Artichoke puree and Calabrian Chilli. Outstanding. The other pasta dish was Crabmeat integrated with lemon heavy cream and pistachios. I had a taste and it was excellent. Had it not been prepared with heavy cream, it would have been my selection. This dish was called Spaghetti Chitarra. BTW, all pasta is fresh/homemade. We had to end an amazing meal with the chocolate lava cake for sharing. The cake was half mousse, half cake and sprinkled with hazelnuts. Again, wow factor. This was a 5/5 meal. Sicily Osteria has become one of my favorite go to spots on Restaurant Row. If you appreciate delicious food, great service and quaint ambience, pay this restaurant a visit. You can thank me later.

Yelp
Unfortunately my experience at Sicily Osteria was pretty bad. Get ready for a play by play of this sh!tshow experience: First, I was seated at a table in the smack middle of the upper floor despite there being plenty of two-person tables available near the windows. The floor was shaky and creaky so the entire chair and table kept shaking every time someone walked by, which was all the time because the damn table was in the middle. Second, the table was also wobbly on its own and continued being so even after I asked someone to fix it (they did try with a cork that kept slipping out from under the table leg). So that's pretty janky. Then the food and drinks came and things got worse: They brought bread that was dry. Then my diet coke was completely flat. I asked for another and the second one was fizzy. Then they got my order wrong and brought the wrong pasta dish. Then they eventually brought my actual pasta dish (Spaghetti Carbonara) and I took a bite and wished I had kept the wrong dish from earlier. The spaghetti were COMPLETELY tasteless. Literally zero taste. Even the bits of bacon were not well done, it felt like somewhat raw bacon. I would have asked for a different dish but we had a show to catch in 30 min and I didn't want to risk it. (My friend's ravioli with beef ragu was better.) Then we got the tiramisu at the recommendation of our table neighbors. I guess they've never had real Italian Tiramisu, cause baby, this ain't it. They prepare it at the table which means the tiramisu is missing about 50% of its consistency and ingredients. Italian Tiramisu is supposed to be fluffy and two layered. This was some vanilla cream on top of ladyfingers drenched in some sauce. I didn't taste any kick to it so I assume it wasn't coffee liqueur. I absolutely love Italian food but I am unfortunately not going to come here again, after this experience. If you do go, make sure your table isn't the first table on the left as you go up the stairs and don't get the spaghetti carbonara! Best of luck!

Yelp
Went with a fairly large group at the time they opened yesterday and it was clear that despite being in the theater district, and having a reservation, they can't handle large groups. The service was slow and abrupt. The food was good. I had bucatini, which was super cheesy and creamy, but lacked the flavor punch I was expecting based on the description. We asked for a dessert menu but when not receiving one, we ordered affrogattos which did not disappoint. The charm of pouring the espresso over the ice cream myself and the freshness was probably the highlight of my meal. I'll probably come back, but definitely not with a big group.

Yelp
MY STAR RATING 0-5 Service: 5 Food: 3 Space/Ambiance: 3 Price/Value: 5 Just so we're clear on my rating. I rate as 3 stars being average and we go up and down from there based on the whole experience, not just the food. If I'm giving a 5 star review it's because the experience was exceptionally above average from start to end and everything in between. It's NYC Restaurant Week (NYRW), August 2024, and I was invited to join some friends at Sicily Osteria in Midtown East (E 46th off 8th Ave). I had never eaten here so again NYRW is the best time to sample new places as you get a flare for what they offer without having to spend hundreds and risk not loving the meal. I looked over the NYRW menu before going so I had an idea of what I might like to try. For $30 you get one appetizer, one main, and a choice of sorbet (it was lemon 8/22) or a cannoli (house made shell, sweet ricotta, amarena cherry, chocolate) for dessert. I couldn't decide between the BARBABIETOLE ROSSE (beets, arugula, goat cheese, pistachio, sherry vinaigrette) and the TORTINO DI GRANCHIO (crab cakes, warm mushroom salad, tartar sauce) but as one of my friends got the crab I opted for the salad. For my main I wanted the RIGATONI ALLA VODKA (tomato, cream, vodka sauce, chili flakes) but as there were zero photos of the SICILY BURGER (Pat la Frieda brisket blend, manchego cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, special sauce, onion rings served with french fries) on here and I LOVE a good Pat la Frieda brisket blend. I went for the burger. We ate at the bar, although the outside seating is lovely especially on a nice (actual summer) day like today. Our server was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable and attentive. The barbabietole rosse was good, but I think I expected larger chunks of beets instead of the pretty thin slices given so it really was more about the arugula than anything. Although it was plated nicely and yummy, I wouldn't get again. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, it was just not what I (personally) was expecting. The Sicily burger did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection and presented open face with fried cut thicker (which I like). I am attaching a photo of it as plated and one of it after I added my mustard and put the top on. Needless to say it's a very tall burger and I was only able to eat half but the half I ate was fantastic. The only whine I have is that the fried were a little al dente. I am sure had I mentioned it they would have happily brought me new fries but I didn't bother as they will reheat great! haha I am not a fan of cannoli's but considering that, it was great. I was told they make them there and, if they don't who cares, it tastes like they do! They also have a normal pre-fixe menu for $25 (maybe $24, depends on the menu they hand you lol) and one of our friends got the ARANCINO (saffron rice, nduja, mozzarella) as her app and the BURSIATE ALLA TRAPANESE (almond and roasted tomato pesto) pasta for her main. The arancino was a bit over ground on the inside so it was impossible to tell it was rice and she thought maybe it was just a bread dish, it wasn't. Flavor was fine, it really was just a textural issue as authentic arancino has more texture and is less arepa like. The bursiate alla trapanese was very flavorful but a little overcooked for me. I like my pasts a little al dente so as you are eating it and it's still cooking from the heat of the sauce it stays a bit more firm and doesn't get mushy. She asked if she should get the sorbet over the CANNOLI or TORTA ALL'OLIO D'OLIVA (olive oil cake, blood orange marmellata) which are the usual dessert choses and it was fresh and lemony and just the perfect pallet cleaner for much a richly flavored meal. Would I go again, yes, but I would definitely try the pasta over the burger - only because it's an Italian place and I love rigatoni. ;) Buon appetito! Their Instagram is @sicilynyc in case you want to give them a peek and follow.

Yelp
Definitely not blown away. It's decent for the Theatre District but not a great restaurant. The staff is very pleasant and helpful but that doesn't make up for the food which was extremely average. We had: - Tuna Tartare - tasty but basic - Burrata Caprese - good but average - Cacio e Pepe - very bland - Paccheri ala Norma - acidy sauce - Carbonara - bland and heavy The restaurant is very clean and conveniently located but definitely not a favorite.

Yelp
A great place for Italian food if you're in the city! It's located right near the theater district and Hell's Kitchen. The outside decor is beautiful! Inside seating was nice too. The bread they served before the meal was good. My squid ink pasta was delicious, it came with artichokes and clams. The service was ok, but could have been better. Many times we were waiting forever for a server to come by to refill water. Also it took forever to get our check and we were almost late to our appointment after lunch.

Yelp
Love this place! Really close to Times Square and yet far enough to be away from the crowded madness, have eaten there twice, both times at the bar with co workers. Food is fantastic and comes out very quickly if needed. Nice selection of wine. A real port in the storm a stones throw from a horrible part of Manhattan

Yelp
The food and the service here were great! I can't believe how large the space was as well. I would highly recommend this Italian restaurant which is very centrally located.

Yelp
Our last meal in New York and it was a good one. We had a full day of travel and needed a meal that would pretty much tidy us over until we arrived back home in LA. This little gem was a quick walk from our hotel around the corner. We were greeted and seated by the server who took exceptional care of us throughout our meal. A quick peruse of the menu and we decided we should share the Daviola pizza and the Rigatoni Carbonara and of course we split a refreshing bottle of Rose. The food arrived quickly and it was amazing. The Daviola pizza was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, red onion and drizzled in hot honey. Delicious! The rigatoni was packed with pieces of guanciale, and had a creamy sauce made of rich egg yolk and parmigiano. We really enjoyed this meal, so much so that we decided to splurge with cannoli's for dessert and those cannoli's were heavenly! This little restaurant was the perfect end to our NY trip.

Yelp
I was greatly greeted and seated by the host, he is amazing. I had Riggatoni A la Vodka which was delicious, creamy, and soft. the waitress also did a good job, checking on me and ensuring everything was good. for the ambiance, I wish some Sicilian music was playing in the background to immerse me in a fully Sicilian restaurant experience. A note regarding the amuse-bouche, the bread is stale (normally it should be fresh and warm) and there should be 2 plates to divide the bacon from the olives and cheese. You never know who has dietary restrictions. So I couldn't enjoy it, unfortunately.

Yelp
Pre theater dinner worked well. Service was great, food came out quickly so we could linger over our pasta and wine. Only had time for one course but what we had was very food. Sat outside on an October evening!

Yelp
So it was chaos when we walked in. No host/hostess and a bunch of people with reservations (including us) trying to sit. Since we had time, we looked at menu and knew what we wanted. The burrata was A+. Tomatoes were really fresh. The arancini was just okay. The carbonara was pretty good and they do make it the proper way - if not a little under salted. My partner got the chittarra and his desperately needed salt. For a pasta dish above $30, it should come out perfectly. We didn't really see our waiter after we ordered. Thankfully there was a very friendly waitress. I wish I got her name because she checked in on us. She had short hair and was black. We didn't get her name because she wasn't our waitress but as she was serving her tables she was really nice and fun. Anyway the waiter never asked us how the meal was and I had to go to the bar to ask them for the check since we had a show. I would rate this lower but my hope is you get that waitress and give her a big tip because she was working her butt off.

Yelp
I came here for a date night and had a pretty good experience. The ambiance was romantic and the restaurant was dimly lit. The food was delicious - I would recommend the fennel arugula hazelnut salad. The pasta was good but I would try something else next time. The serving size was on the smaller side. The service was okay - there was a lot of waiting but we weren't in a rush so it was fine but there were times that we had to remind the staff since we would wait so long

Yelp
My friends and I decided to try this Italian restaurant which is located near the times square area and conveniently located near the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, which was our next stop. We stopped by for a weekday dinner. We opted to share a: HOMEMADE BREAD First of all, we ordered this as an appetizer, but it didn't come first. After we got our meal, we had to ask for it because it was taking a while. Secondly, I honestly had higher expectations seeing that it was labeled "homemade", but I was quite disappointed. The bread itself was okay- nothing too soft. It was most comparable to a pizzeria garlic bread, but the garlic taste not nearly as defined. The taste was very light. I almost wanted it to be more stronger. I honestly would skip it next time. Before coming here, I knew I wanted to order the Mezze Rigatoni due to the raving reviews about the dish. And this recommendation wasn't overrated, it is actually matched up to my expectations. MEZZE RIGATONI AL FORNO First of all, I was happy to see that the portions are good. Despite the initial impression of the size of this dish, I actually got quite full. You get a decent amount of protein with the meats and cheese. The additional of the small green peas are a nice touch. The dish is well balanced and seasoned. I really enjoyed this dish and believed I ordered well with this choice. I would recommend this pasta dish.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place but it was a mess. DO NOT go if you have a show to see. Three of us came in at 6:15pm on a Saturday for a pre-show dinner. We told the waitress we had an 8pm show, and put our order in. Our appetizers arrived quickly, our entrees did not. We started getting anxious about making the show so, at 7:15, we flagged down the waitress to remind her we were still waiting and she said our order was up next. The entrees finally arrived at 7:20 but I bit into my salmon and it was still raw inside. I sent it back, and it returned overcooked, dry, and flaming hot at 7:30. I had 5 minutes to try to eat it before flagging the waitress down again to pay for the bill and leave for the show. The waitress never apologized. The 3 other tables next to us were also visibly irritated with the poor service. To add insult to injury, the food was terrible and extraordinarily expensive. The bread for the table was dry and old. My friend said her clam pasta was one of the worst she's had in recent memory. This is a restaurant in the theater district, so they should know how to provide a decent eating experience to parties heading to shows. Instead, the service was so bad that we almost missed our curtain.

Yelp
The service was terrible, the manager was not helpful and the food was cold after waiting an hour to get it. The manager told us that pasta takes between and hour and hour and a half to get. Although a table of six seated 20 minutes after us, got their apps, pasta dinners, dessert and coffee before we got our food. Disappointing and very expensive. We will not go back.

Yelp
My friend and I were in the city for the day visiting some of our local haunts and decided it was time for lunch. Several places we were interested in investigating did not open until much last in the day and we eventually had a train to catch. We decided on Sicily Osteria. It was a nice place, with seating outside al fresco, an inner seating area and an outdoor garden in the back. We were seated immediately and water and bread and a small can of extra virgin olive oil were brought to the table. The bread was crunchy and delicious. We were given menus to peruse and after talking somewhat we made out choices. My friend decided on the lasagne and I opted for the cacio e pepe. Our food arrived shortly after we ordered. The lasagne was delicious and the cacio e pepe was cooked al dente and was delicious as well. I usually do not get dessert but my friend always opts for it and chose the lava cake with a scoop of ice cream on the side which we shared. It was an excellent meal, My friend then ordered coffee. I ordered a double espresso. The meal was competitively priced for the area. I would recommend and return.

Yelp
The food was a definite 7/10. The second best octopus I've ever had, and the pasta was homemade and perfect. The problem with Osteria is the service. We went at 9:45 pm, and the hostess sat us in an awful place despite many open seats in nicer area. We asked to be moved, and she chose another bad spot near the service area. When we asked to be moved again, she said she would have the check with management. There were tons of other nice spots, and it wasn't exactly a dinner rush at 9:45. The waiter then forgot our app order. You would think you'd get much better service from a well regarded NY eatery. We were disappointed overall. Maybe they were having an off night.
