Italian dinging nights out bring about memories of the movie Lady and the Tramp. Very inexpensive and delivers on what you order in a timely manner. It is BYOB and I did bring a bottle of chianti to have with the meal.
Getting ready for summer pool time, I have put away my pasta consumption and will order salad to go with pizza, yet start the evening with calamari. Yea, I know, breading in pizza and grease and breading on the calamari, I could have had the pasta and probably a cream sauce and still kept the carb count the same. But let's talk about the food.
The calamari was a large portion and tender, though we ran out of sauce about 3/4 of the way through. The flavor of the breading was tasty, but the calamari itself was very bland.
We asked for the house salads ($3.99) to be served with our 12" Special Toppings Pizza ($17.99). The pizza crust (thin) was textured well, but once again, not much flavor. The toppings and sauce were similar in offerings with salads, which were mainly head lettuce with some red cabbage. Choice of dressings were limited to house (like a Catalina) or Ranch, which I chose and again, thin on flavor.
I was really looking forward to their free dinner rolls, which I read about in other reviews. The serving looked impressive like other reviews stated, however, our two rolls, which stand up 4 and 1/2" high were dry. The density of those rolls was very think . We had to pull apart pieces from each to dip into a garlic, olive oil dipping plate.
Our server was quite efficient and very pleasant. Water glasses (we requested lemon slices and were served huge slices) always refilled in a timely manner. A very large to go box was supplied to us to take the other half of the pizza home and it did reheat in aluminum foil in a small oven. Our check was presented at the table and I took it to the front counter where the cash register attends to To Go Orders. I left a cash tip, which I recommend everyone to do.
So, would I recommend this restaurant? It is a very basic serving of Italian food, good for very casual dining. It is close to home and would be easy to go to without caring about getting dressed up, but then, the Tramp in the movie did not even wear a collar. Yup, will probably go back.
